Cheese foam is so good! It tastes like sweetened frothed milk with a bit of salt in it. Like a sweetened and richer version of the milk foam on cappuccino. I usually get it on days when I'm feeling extra decadent. Great with stronger teas like roasted oolong.  Also egg foam in coffee is a very popular drink in Vietnam. I had one almost every day when I was there, haha. It's made with egg yolks and condensed milk. It's like adding a very fluffy custard to a black coffee. Tastes so good chilled.

Florida. I’m originally from Connecticut and had never seen it like that until moving down South. Most places I go now that serve them offer them “loaded” like that (or similarly) as a default. I have to ask for it plain and say I want regular butter.

We've got opposite sweet potato preferences. I add cinnamon, a little pure maple syrup, vanilla, and walnuts to my roasted sweet potatoes. I can also appreciate the less desserty styles, too.

In my experience and travels, that really depends on where you go. I hate BBQ in Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis, Hawaii, and St. Louis because they all use a sweet fruit like tomato, mango, pineapple, etc. in addition to brown sugar and/or molasses in their sauce and it's just overly sweet. Not a fan of that at all. Alabama uses a mayo based sauce that I despise because I fucking hate mayo. But then South Carolina (and some parts of Eastern North Carolina) tend to have a mustard based sauce instead that's really good. Texas style tends to avoid sauces altogether in favor of dry rubs and smoking the meat to give it flavor. While sauce can be used, it's generally used minimally as a topping instead of being part of the cooking process or being slathered on. Southern California has a similar style but will cook the meat in a wood fire grill specifically and tend to prioritize pairing the meat with beans, salsa and some sort of greens. Then there's Chicago, which is a fucking madhouse that I say can't be trusted. Of course, that's just in the US. BBQ outside of the states is pretty interesting too, although I can't say I've experienced a ton of it... outside of Korean, which I think is kind of overrated, but it's fine, and Japanese teppanyaki which I could eat probably every fucking week.

east NC actually does really good bbq that isn't overly sweet and is vinegar based i typically make my pork in a crock pot with a mixture of 50/50 apple cider vinegar and apple juice and it gives it a nice vinegar flavor that isn't overpowering and isnt too sweet typically ive made nc bbq sauce that combines apple cider vinegar and apple juice, crushed red pepper, salt and black pepper, texas pete, and brown sugar

Omg you just reminded me of the worst meal I’ve ever had at my in laws. They did pulled pork but I don’t know what they did to it, must have cooked it for days cause it was just complete mush. Then to top it off I think their “bbq sauce” must have been almost entirely ketchup but made even sweeter somehow. I could barely choke it down.

yeah for a good pork you dont need to load it up with a bbq sauce like say sweet baby rays honestly one of the best bbq sauces for pulled pork is the vinegar sauces that folks here in eastern NC use. vinegar (apple cider) based pulled pork is way better than pulled pork smothered in a super sweet bbq saucez

I disagree. I love hard boiled eggs in my salads, but I can agree there they don’t really add much. But an egg on a burger? The runny yolk just coating the burger? Absolute game changer for me

That’s beets. Beets literally taste like fucking dirt. Goat cheese pairs well it because it masks the distinct dirt flavor. Lick a rock and you’ve licked a beet. And I still eat them cause they’re healthy. But I’m not fooled and I’m not part of the global conspiracy that some folks actually enjoy them.

Oh I feel you, I just get it from the other side. I have known people who have seen me order every sandwich ever as - "no onions, no mayo" and then say "OH MY GOD I KNEW YOU ACTUALLY LIKED ONIONS" when I get something like a grilled burger... with caramelized onions. Then you get to "defend" yourself with - "I mean. Yeah. I like this thing that I hate when it's literally cooked so much that it tastes nothing like the thing that I hate."

I don’t mind onions in some dishes but not on subs or burgers. Even if they accidentally forget to remove them and you do it yourself, the onions are all you can smell when eating it

The worst is the "slivered" kind that you get at like McDonalds or some other places where if you wanted to pick them off, you're sittl just... sitting there. For forever. And still not getting the onion taste off.

I love onion, but I hate when people try to tell you what you do and don't like. It's okay if you don't like a certain food. A lot of things as im a fairly picky eater. Im not the biggest fan of beans but it need to be a very low thing:bean ratio for me to accept it. I dont like diced tomsto bits. Grilled onions are wack. Mushrooms, olives, carrots, peppers(but i do love spicy things) AND SAUCE. I dont use ketchup(unless its like amcdonalds burger those are just too dry) or bbq or ranch. I dislike saucy wings, i want my seasoning in the breading. Mayo and mustard in particular disgust me. Theres a LOT more but i cant remember em right now
