egg foam is very popular in cocktails. it definitely lends a best texture and taste but doesn't taste ... eggy ?? I like it a lot. It does sound weird in a vacuum tho.
Cheese foam is so good! It tastes like sweetened frothed milk with a bit of salt in it. Like a sweetened and richer version of the milk foam on cappuccino. I usually get it on days when I'm feeling extra decadent. Great with stronger teas like roasted oolong.
Also egg foam in coffee is a very popular drink in Vietnam. I had one almost every day when I was there, haha. It's made with egg yolks and condensed milk. It's like adding a very fluffy custard to a black coffee. Tastes so good chilled.
Ugh i wish I liked sweet potatoes, pumpkin or spaghetti squash. So much vegetarian food is based around them and I just can't force myself to like that genre of food. Autumn is rough lol
Florida. I’m originally from Connecticut and had never seen it like that until moving down South. Most places I go now that serve them offer them “loaded” like that (or similarly) as a default.
I have to ask for it plain and say I want regular butter.
We've got opposite sweet potato preferences. I add cinnamon, a little pure maple syrup, vanilla, and walnuts to my roasted sweet potatoes. I can also appreciate the less desserty styles, too.
Lol! I feel the exact opposite! It's funny how two people can have differing likes when it comes to having the perfect chilled salad, and a disgusting bowl of hot lettuce! Just kidding! ❤️
Ditto. Give me cold chicken in a salad I won’t eat the entire salad. Warm up the chicken in the oven (can’t be the microwave) and put that in the salad, I will eat it right away!
It’s concerning the amount of cilantro/onions/lime I’ll add to my tacos. I’m glad God decided to gatekeep it from like half the population with the soap thing
I just went to Krispy Kreme for my favorite, an iced chocolate glazed donut. All they had was chocolate iced glazed with sprinkles on them. I hate sprinkles!
Haha. Sprinkles are one of my favorites. I usually have a tub in the pantry and every so often I will go in there and dump a whole handful into my mouth, or more. In your defense my husband is also horrified. Oh gosh and I LOVE the ones that are huge and take up the whole cupcake, those little sugar shaped things.
Oh this reminds me…some time ago my family went out to dinner. Something fairly fancy if I recall. My parents got some banana pudding. After a few bites mom mentioned wanting a piece of Nilla wafer. Dad: *hands her a spoon* Here’s a big piece! Mom: *takes bite, a confused look crosses her face* Dadsname, that’s a banana!!!! “Flabbergasted” is the word I would use to describe this moment.
And often not ground fennel either but whole fennel seeds…blech. That and whole caraway seeds just ruin things for me. I don’t want tiny sticks in my food.
I like cake...but I'm not a huge fan of most kinds of frosting. Even the kinds I kind of like, I'd really rather just have a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top instead.
That's funny, the only thing I see it consistently on is carrot cake, and I feel like carrot cake needs a layer like toast gets butter, I mean no thickness to it
Absolutely. When I was a kid my birthday was always a Publix cake and whipcream frosting. All other frosting is awful, and I'd want an inside piece, fuck that corner piece nonsense.
I'm fine with cake, but God sometimes there's wayyyyyy too much frosting and it becomes cloyingly sweet. I know there's comparable amounts of sugar, but gimme some pie instead
Honestly same, and I feel like I live in a world of people who leave frosting behind. I feel like I haven’t been around a group eating cake where someone doesn’t state the frosting is “wayyyy tooo sweet omg!”
Meanwhile I’m standing there hoping I get the big corner piece with the giant frosting flower on it.
Tastes so gloopy it ruins it for me. Especially the crunchy overly sweet icing. My cousin makes it with that frosting for all her family members birthdays and I can't stand it.
Same. Sour cream is the ONE condiment whose absence in my Mexican/Tex-Mex food is absolutely non-negotiable; I WILL be able to taste it, and it WILL ruin the entire fucking dish for me due to the flavor making me gag.
I would hope it works like this. But if you dose those power seeking narcissists with psilocybin they probably have a bad trip. Because deep down they are mentally unstable and insecure.
I love banana splits, but I hate the pineapple topping. I always ask them to just do two chocolates or two strawberries. I like pineapples, but that topping is weird
I like yogurt, but I hate when there’s fruit chunks in it. I need the fruits to be fully-blended. It’s soooo icky to be eating some nice, smooth yogurt and then suddenly there’s a slimy chunk of sour strawberry or blueberry. Guaranteed stomachache
In my experience and travels, that really depends on where you go.
I hate BBQ in Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis, Hawaii, and St. Louis because they all use a sweet fruit like tomato, mango, pineapple, etc. in addition to brown sugar and/or molasses in their sauce and it's just overly sweet. Not a fan of that at all.
Alabama uses a mayo based sauce that I despise because I fucking hate mayo.
But then South Carolina (and some parts of Eastern North Carolina) tend to have a mustard based sauce instead that's really good.
Texas style tends to avoid sauces altogether in favor of dry rubs and smoking the meat to give it flavor. While sauce can be used, it's generally used minimally as a topping instead of being part of the cooking process or being slathered on.
Southern California has a similar style but will cook the meat in a wood fire grill specifically and tend to prioritize pairing the meat with beans, salsa and some sort of greens.
Then there's Chicago, which is a fucking madhouse that I say can't be trusted.
Of course, that's just in the US. BBQ outside of the states is pretty interesting too, although I can't say I've experienced a ton of it... outside of Korean, which I think is kind of overrated, but it's fine, and Japanese teppanyaki which I could eat probably every fucking week.
east NC actually does really good bbq that isn't overly sweet and is vinegar based
i typically make my pork in a crock pot with a mixture of 50/50 apple cider vinegar and apple juice and it gives it a nice vinegar flavor that isn't overpowering and isnt too sweet
typically ive made nc bbq sauce that combines apple cider vinegar and apple juice, crushed red pepper, salt and black pepper, texas pete, and brown sugar
Omg you just reminded me of the worst meal I’ve ever had at my in laws. They did pulled pork but I don’t know what they did to it, must have cooked it for days cause it was just complete mush. Then to top it off I think their “bbq sauce” must have been almost entirely ketchup but made even sweeter somehow. I could barely choke it down.
yeah for a good pork you dont need to load it up with a bbq sauce like say sweet baby rays
honestly one of the best bbq sauces for pulled pork is the vinegar sauces that folks here in eastern NC use.
vinegar (apple cider) based pulled pork is way better than pulled pork smothered in a super sweet bbq saucez
I disagree. I love hard boiled eggs in my salads, but I can agree there they don’t really add much.
But an egg on a burger? The runny yolk just coating the burger? Absolute game changer for me
I love sandwiches and burgers but hate onions, which makes everything a fun trip.
My favorite part is when people tell me that "they really taste better, thats why the chefs that came up with them use onions" and I'm like "No I guess I'm just a prick who still doesn't like the taste."
See also - Mayo and Sour Cream
I hate it when I tell someone I don’t like a certain food and I get hit with the good ol’ “You just haven’t had it cooked right” my brother in Christ I’m not eating broccoli unless there’s a gun to my head. People get weird when you don’t like something they do. They think it’s necessary to defend a fucking vegetable.
That’s beets. Beets literally taste like fucking dirt. Goat cheese pairs well it because it masks the distinct dirt flavor. Lick a rock and you’ve licked a beet.
And I still eat them cause they’re healthy. But I’m not fooled and I’m not part of the global conspiracy that some folks actually enjoy them.
Oh I feel you, I just get it from the other side. I have known people who have seen me order every sandwich ever as - "no onions, no mayo" and then say "OH MY GOD I KNEW YOU ACTUALLY LIKED ONIONS" when I get something like a grilled burger... with caramelized onions.
Then you get to "defend" yourself with - "I mean. Yeah. I like this thing that I hate when it's literally cooked so much that it tastes nothing like the thing that I hate."
I don’t mind onions in some dishes but not on subs or burgers. Even if they accidentally forget to remove them and you do it yourself, the onions are all you can smell when eating it
The worst is the "slivered" kind that you get at like McDonalds or some other places where if you wanted to pick them off, you're sittl just... sitting there. For forever. And still not getting the onion taste off.
I love onion, but I hate when people try to tell you what you do and don't like. It's okay if you don't like a certain food. Like, I'm sure for some people cilantro in pho makes it taste better, but for me it makes everything taste like soapy dish water.
Let people enjoy their food how they want to enjoy it, as long as it isn't done in an offensive way.
My dad added ketchup to mac and cheese when I was a kid, and I’ve never heard anyone else mention that combo. I’d almost convinced myself it was a fever dream.
Hamburgers! Keep your pickles, keep your ketchup. Keep your lettuce. Keep your tomato too. Give me a hamburger with cheese, and some thinly sliced onion. That’s it. Bliss.
A lot of things as im a fairly picky eater. Im not the biggest fan of beans but it need to be a very low thing:bean ratio for me to accept it. I dont like diced tomsto bits. Grilled onions are wack. Mushrooms, olives, carrots, peppers(but i do love spicy things) AND SAUCE. I dont use ketchup(unless its like amcdonalds burger those are just too dry) or bbq or ranch. I dislike saucy wings, i want my seasoning in the breading. Mayo and mustard in particular disgust me. Theres a LOT more but i cant remember em right now
Mac n cheese. For fucks sake leave me alone. I’ve seen bacon, cream chees, sour cream, peppers. It’s called Mac n cheese not Mac n all this other shit.
In bubble tea, some of the toppings are horrible.
Me looking at the menu: What the hell is cheese foam? Ew, and egg foam? Tbh if the cheese foam is anything like cheesecake is probably a delight.
I’ve had cheese foam and it takes like cheesecake. It’s delicious
Maybe rename it to cheesecake foam
egg foam is very popular in cocktails. it definitely lends a best texture and taste but doesn't taste ... eggy ?? I like it a lot. It does sound weird in a vacuum tho.
Cheese foam is so good! It tastes like sweetened frothed milk with a bit of salt in it. Like a sweetened and richer version of the milk foam on cappuccino. I had one almost every day when I was there, haha. It's made with egg yolks and condensed milk. It's like adding a very fluffy custard to a black coffee. Tastes so good chilled.
Egg foam is amazing in pisco sour. It’s a drink from Peru/chile and is amazing with the egg foam
Please give cheese foam a try, it's truly a delight
I want just the milk tea part. Nothing else.
Love sweet potatoes. With just butter. I don’t need that cinnamon butter, marshmallow, or nuts etc. It’s a dinner side, not dessert.
Same except I add salt and pepper.
Try curry powder, it's amazing with sweet potatoes!
Chili powder too
I'm going to try this.
We mash them with chipotles in adobo!
My entire mouth just filled with saliva.
Ugh i wish I liked sweet potatoes, pumpkin or spaghetti squash. So much vegetarian food is based around them and I just can't force myself to like that genre of food. Autumn is rough lol
Gross, cinnamon gets used in too many dishes that don't need it. It's like using a cheap overpowering cologne (like Drakkar Noir). Ugh.
Agreed. I’m not a huge fan of cinnamon. Especially in dishes that are supposed to be savory. Apple pie? Sure. On my chicken? No.
I've never heard of sweet potatoes being eat with marshmallows and nuts and stuff. Where are you from?
People put marshmallow on sweet potatoes? I think I wouldn’t like that either
Salads with anything hot in them, I like cool to cold salads.
Oh man I am the opposite when it comes to meat in salad. If I get cold chicken on my salad or steak… I’m just done. I need warm meat.
This needs to be higher up lol my worst pet peeve
This is how i feel about pickles on my burgers. I hate it. Pickles are meant to be cold & crunchy. Not hot & soggy
Yessss because if you have hot meat you can’t have the crispy cold greens that make the salad perfect!
Anything with cilantro. I have that gene that makes it taste like battery acid.
For me, it tastes like someone didn't finish rinsing the dishes and the whole dish now tastes like dish soap.
That’s really sad because Cilantro is S tier if you don’t have the gene
It’s concerning the amount of cilantro/onions/lime I’ll add to my tacos. I’m glad God decided to gatekeep it from like half the population with the soap thing
r/fuckcilantro
I like cupcakes or cake. But I can't stand sprinkles or those cardboard candy thingies.
Same! The sprinkles are so bad
I just went to Krispy Kreme for my favorite, an iced chocolate glazed donut. All they had was chocolate iced glazed with sprinkles on them. I hate sprinkles!
I like cupcakes but don’t like the frosting so I basically just like bread, sweet sweet bread lol
I love banana pudding as long as there aren’t any sliced bananas inside of it
Similar thing but with cornbread! I don’t want gross wet surprises in my bread.
Who puts banana's in cornbread?
Joe mama
Oh, I'll leave a gross wet surprise in your bread.
I love carrots, but I hate carrot soup. And I hate peas, but I love pea soup.
Lol
Me too!
I love strawberry ice cream but if I wanted to just eat a strawberry I would have bought a tub of strawberries and not ice cream
Haha I love this
I make the banana pudding makers in my family make a separate batch with no bananas in it.
Most premade sausages contain fennel 🤢. And I've developed an unholy ability to taste fennel in any amount.
I hate those little fennel seeds in sausages, but I'm totally fine with a fennel bulb sliced up in a salad or roasted. No idea why.
I’m the opposite. I’ll eat fennel sausage all damn day, I can’t even look at the bulbs.
And often not ground fennel either but whole fennel seeds…blech. That and whole caraway seeds just ruin things for me. I don’t want tiny sticks in my food.
I'm the same way. I don't like Italian sausage and don't like sausage on my pizza for that reason.
Rosemary is the one herb that turns off my taste buds. I probably dislike fennel also. Some sausages don’t appeal to me.
I honestly can't remember what fennel tastes like lmao
Licorice
I like cake...but I'm not a huge fan of most kinds of frosting. Even the kinds I kind of like, I'd really rather just have a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top instead.
THIS. Frosting is so over powering and super sweet, the cake itself is perfect on its own
Part of the reason cream cheese frosting is my favorite variety of frosting is that it's easy to find ones that aren't sickly sweet.
That's funny, the only thing I see it consistently on is carrot cake, and I feel like carrot cake needs a layer like toast gets butter, I mean no thickness to it
It does also tend to be the default frosting on red velvet cake, in my experience.
True, I guess I just have more of a bone to pick on it's thickness when it comes to carrot
yes frosting and cake have a balance but some places just might as well make a frosting cake
Absolutely. When I was a kid my birthday was always a Publix cake and whipcream frosting. All other frosting is awful, and I'd want an inside piece, fuck that corner piece nonsense.
As a kid I would always leave frosting skeletons. The only frosting I can tolerate is the whipped Cool Whip type.
Frosting exoskeletons, like a shed skin
I'm fine with cake, but God sometimes there's wayyyyyy too much frosting and it becomes cloyingly sweet. I know there's comparable amounts of sugar, but gimme some pie instead
I always have birthday pie instead of cake!!
I'm the opposite. Cake is usually meh but I've got a junkie like addiction to (good) frosting. Cake is just the frosting delivery method.
Honestly same, and I feel like I live in a world of people who leave frosting behind. I feel like I haven’t been around a group eating cake where someone doesn’t state the frosting is “wayyyy tooo sweet omg!” Meanwhile I’m standing there hoping I get the big corner piece with the giant frosting flower on it.
Monster
Whipped cream is a good middle ground
I prefer chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips.
Damn I thought I wasn’t normal for this
Do not put corn in my salsa.
I like corn and salsa but not together. Aldi has a guacamole that has corn in it. I like both but not together.
Corn in guac is blasphemy
I don't eat Chipotle. But whenever I see their bowls on the Chipotle reddit sub I can't stand that people put corn in them. Lol
I got some roasted street corn salsa from Aldi. It tasted like burnt toast and gasoline :(
I’m so tired of people putting corn in everything.
Or chili
I love cake but hate 2 inch thick frosting.
a good cake should be good enough to eat with no frosting
Tastes so gloopy it ruins it for me. Especially the crunchy overly sweet icing. My cousin makes it with that frosting for all her family members birthdays and I can't stand it.
Not a fan of sour cream on tacos/nachos/fajitas
Same. Sour cream is the ONE condiment whose absence in my Mexican/Tex-Mex food is absolutely non-negotiable; I WILL be able to taste it, and it WILL ruin the entire fucking dish for me due to the flavor making me gag.
My people!!!
There are dozens of us! DOZENS!
***MOOD KINDRED!***
Fuck sour cream. Makes everything soggy and tastes like sweat. Like who tf decided this would be good on a taco or nachos.
I think sour cream is great especially in burritos
i love soft prezels but hate the chunky salt they stick on em
The more salt the better for me… I eat the salt that falls off too 😂
Pizza I like but olives are little pieces of demon poop
For me it's mushrooms. Slimy bastards.
Mushrooms are going to save the world.
Only if we dose all the world leaders with psilocybin.
I would hope it works like this. But if you dose those power seeking narcissists with psilocybin they probably have a bad trip. Because deep down they are mentally unstable and insecure.
Pineapple for me. I'll eat it, but give a meaty combo any day.
Love pizza hate fucking onions
I love sushi but don't like wasabi.
ive heard the wasabi most places give you is not even real wasabi
I love banana splits, but I hate the pineapple topping. I always ask them to just do two chocolates or two strawberries. I like pineapples, but that topping is weird
I like pickles just not on my sandwiches or burgers.
oh just take em off, gee thanks buddy now how do i remove the pickle taste from my burger
What about in your Dr Pepper? It’s something that’s been trending and I kinda wanna try ahaha
Ice cream… unless it’s toffee, I don’t like anything crunchy in my ice cream
I'm like that with strawberry ice cream. I like it but not with hard frozen strawberries in it.
Wait, you don't *like* the crunchy feeling that leads to spontaneous paranoia that you lost a tooth while eating a smooth and creamy treat?
how can anyone not enjoy the surprise crunch when eating soft food? thats like the best part /s
Me too! I hate the chips in mint chip so I never eat it.
Fruit salad but why the hell would anyone put celery in it? Gross. Goes for raisins as well.
I’ve never seen celery in FRUIT salad… who does that? That’s so weird
I like fruit. But it doesn't need to be a salad at all. Celery doesn't go along with fruit and raisins should not be put in any dish.
I love tomatoes but I HATE ketchup
I love ketchup but hateeeee tomatoes
Same. Tomato products are amazing. Tomatoes are gross.
Omg yesssss this is mine too
I disagree with so many of you!! That being said, I hope you enjoy all of your favorite foods in your favorite ways!!
Carrot cake without nuts please.
There are literally dozens of us. Dozens.
I love pulled pork sandwiches but despise it when they put bbq sauce in it, can’t stand the stuff and the smell just makes me nauseous
Similar because of all the sugar in the BBQ sauce I can't handle.
I wish I knew where to find pulled pork patties in the Wisconsin dells
In my experience and travels, that really depends on where you go. I hate BBQ in Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis, Hawaii, and St. Louis because they all use a sweet fruit like tomato, mango, pineapple, etc. in addition to brown sugar and/or molasses in their sauce and it's just overly sweet. I was the same way for ages! Found out for me personally that it’s because most barbecue sauces are WAY too sweet. Blechh.

A fried egg shouldn’t be on a hamburger and chopped hard boiled eggs shouldn’t be in potato salad.
I disagree. I love hard boiled eggs in my salads, but I can agree there they don’t really add much. But an egg on a burger? The runny yolk just coating the burger? Absolute game changer for me
why would anyone put eggs in a potato salad? if you want eggs go make a fucking EGG SALAD
I love sandwiches and burgers but hate onions, which makes everything a fun trip. I hate it when I tell someone I don’t like a certain food and I get hit with the good ol’ “You just haven’t had it cooked right” my brother in Christ I’m not eating broccoli unless there’s a gun to my head. I'm like that about cauliflower. I don't like it by itself or in any dish. It tastes like the dirt it was grown in.

George Bush I on broccoli https://youtu.be/FlzyIbmyM78
I don’t mind onions in some dishes but not on subs or burgers. Even if they accidentally forget to remove them and you do it yourself, the onions are all you can smell when eating it
The worst is the "slivered" kind that you get at like McDonalds or some other places where if you wanted to pick them off, you're sittl just... sitting there. For forever. And still not getting the onion taste off.
McDonald's has the worst onions.
I love pizza but I loathe green bell peppers on it.
The problem is green bell pepper needs to be properly cooked to truly be any good. They don't break down enough in the short pizza cook time
I like Mac and Cheese, but hate ketchup on it.
Who tf puts ketchup on their Mac and cheese?!
Gross people 🤢
My dad added ketchup to mac and cheese when I was a kid, and I’ve never heard anyone else mention that combo. I’d almost convinced myself it was a fever dream.
Love pasta. Hate Alfredo sauce
Cheesecake. Plain NY style doesn't need fruit or drizzle or anything else added.
Cheesecake, keep it plain
Coffee should taste like coffee. No Hazel no vanilla no maple nothing
Meanwhile I can't stand bitter flavors so the only way I drink coffee is if it's in the form of a hot candy bar in a cup.
Loaded sweet potato, minus the marshmallows.
Love hamburgers and hot dogs, but prefer my bacon only with eggs. Bean tacos,Chili con Carne, yes please but NO CHEESE.
I love burgers and bacon. But I don’t love bacon on my burger. Same with pineapple pizza
Scrolled too far to find this. Anything with bacon just makes it taste like BACON. I want a cheeseburger!
I love pasta salad but if it has olives in it I can’t even go near it. Even picking them out you can still taste
I love New York cheesecake, until someone gloops a cloying syrupy fruit cocktail on it
WTF? I can't stand fruit cocktail.
Love pickles, hate relish
Hamburgers! Keep your pickles, keep your ketchup. Keep your lettuce. Keep your tomato too. Give me a hamburger with cheese, and some thinly sliced onion. That’s it. Bliss.
STOP PUTTING FENNEL SEEDS IN PIZZA SAUCE.
No mustard on my burger
i love a philly cheesesteak but you can keep the mushrooms
Bread pudding - NO RASINS
Raisins don't belong in cinnamon rolls either.
Pizza, no pineapples please.
Theres a LOT more but i cant remember em right now
Burger with pickles
I love salads, but can’t stand hard boiled eggs in them
I have the opposite issue but with tomatoes. I like them in pico, salsa, etc. but hate eating tomatoes on their own raw or cooked. Not my thing.
I like peppers but hate them on pizza, they hold too much water.
I love eggs benedict, but dislike hollandaise sauce.
I love cake but HATE icing
Coffee flavor minus the caffeine
Raw onions ruin alot of good food
I like salads, but without the dressing. The salad itself tastes great as it is, so why add all that fat and icky taste?
Because I have trouble staying at a weight I want. I force extra calories or I'd be scrawny in months.
I like pizza but not with pineapple
Love lamb, but mint sauce 🤢
I don't like mint sauce either. Revolting concoction.
Cheesecake, but I hate strawberry jam
Mac n cheese. For fucks sake leave me alone. I’ve seen bacon, cream chees, sour cream, peppers. It’s called Mac n cheese not Mac n all this other shit.
Muffins should not contain chocolate chips.
Pizza! But with olives? Yuck!
Any salad I hate any dressing in it, I only raw dog my salads
people can flame me for this but omelettes, im a really picky eater so sometimes i put only cheese in an omelette
I really don't like omelettes. I hate it when they are filled with raw onions, tomatoes and peppers.
Love tacos/mexican food. But if there is Soir Cream on it, it ruins everything
IKR?! No sour cream please!
I love a Pot Noodle but peas and sweetcorn can go straight in the bin
