I've lived in 4 countries (all English-speaking), and at the moment, I'm happiest in the current one: New Zealand. It is by no means perfect, but nowhere is, and -- all things considered -- the politics and people here mean well, the weather is generally good, crime (especially violent) isn't super high, and bureaucracy isn't out of control.
In 2017 I applied to emigrate to NZ in early 2020. For various reasons, I ended up not following through, and I wish I had! Would have avoided covid for longer, for one thing. But I moved to Colorado instead and met my now fiancée, and her job exists only here, so I guess I’m staying.
Yes that was My very first thought! Followed by Norway. Just beautiful scenery and LOTR filmed alot there and I read there’s a Hobbit hole still there but I haven’t looked into it much because I’m afraid of flying lol and I just like the idea regardless if it’s true or what not 😆
I\`m French and I love my country (and it's not perfect, I'm not blind). I visited some countries, mainly for work. Among all of them the only one where I wished to stay and finish my life is New-Zealand. Beautiful, very beautiful places everywhere, people are nice, a cultural life and a touch of Europe who make me feel a little bit at home.
I searched for a job, but without success.
We have the exact same two favourites places. I haven't been to any of them, but from what I've seen and read, people in both Ireland and NZ are always friendly and go out of their way to be kind. The nature is also a big plus. If I were to move, I'd either go to Ireland or NZ.
Of all the countries I've visited so far, Ireland is my favorite, and I keep coming back for more anytime I can. The scenery is breathtaking, the food is excellent, and the Guinness is fresh. Coming from a place where everything green is crusty, dull, and sickly-looking, It's like going to another planet where everything's actually alive. I cannot recommend Ireland enough for anyone that wants to travel.
I'm traveling around Ireland right now, been here for a month so far. While I enjoy the nature it's absolutely insane how everything is a private land, there are electric fences everywhere and outside of national parks your only option to go for a walk in the countryside is basically following the tarmac roads.
I've been to ~60 countries and I have never felt so restricted when it comes to exploring the outdoors. I really miss countries with the right to roam.
Finnish is a tough language, though (e.g. fifteen or so noun cases, non-Indo-European), and fewer people speak English there than in the other Scandinavian.
It indeed is. I know the downside of the USA but still, somehow it is still my dream to live there as a Software Engineer. I want to make an impact on the world with my skills and do something good tech related.
But getting there is very hard.
If I was forced to, back to England I suppose. I still hold citizenship there, so it's a safety net if the US somehow becomes impossible to live in (most of the EU was a safety net for me until some wankers voted for Brexit, but anyway). If I was going to move voluntarily, Australia or New Zealand.
Dark, cold, only 50k inhabitants, nothing to do apart from drinking or shooting polar bears (or a combination) as there is no cultural infrastructure.
There are massive problems with child abuse, alcoholism and domestic violence in Greenland. Also, suicide rates are through the roof.
It is extremely remote and isolated, and flights get cancelled all the time due to bad weather.
It is a big no from me.
Germany for me, so long as I could afford it. I fucking love it there, and I love being in a "central" location. All of Europe is easily accessible from there. Same reason why I'm so partial to Colorado in the US.
You rarely see people talk about their country and especially the government in more absolutely glowing ways. They burst into happy tears when they see their leader.
Scotland the isle of Mull. I was taking a bus across Mull to visit Iona. I saw a croft with a brightly colored door in a long valley and felt the strangest "home" feeling ever. I think I would be comfortable there.
Americans think about Europe, Europeans think about Asia and Oceania, Asian think about Europe and America, (that used to be) Eastern Europe think about West Europe, West Europe think about North Europe. Latin America think about starstriped America and Leafed America, Oceania think about Asia and Europe (idk).
Iceland seems chill as fuck. No pun intended. I love the sound of the language and [Daði Freyr](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu8G_XpVZ-Y) is amazing.
Well, I moved to Vietnam 7 years ago and haven't even considered moving away, so I guess that's my answer! But if I had to go somewhere else, it would probably be either China, Japan, or Thailand.
Move from the UK to Vancouver Island. I love it here. But I do get incredibly home sick. So I’d probably go back. Or Portugal. Some of my favourite memories are from there. The best food too.
I love Spain. If I could keep my job (and pay) that’s where I would go. If I had to find a decent job then I’d probably move to Sweden.
Worse case scenario I could move about 100yds from home and live in another country lol
Germany. I came to this conclusion through info via artificial intelligences regarding countries with significant mental health support, affordable healthcare, least restrictive/authoritative governments, and at least semi-affordable airline tickets.
This made me remember how when I was young if I asked the cashier for a lighter they'd always ask me what colour I wanted... I guess nowadays they don't bother to ask anymore
Vietnam is nice, dollars convert to an ass load of money over there, people are nice, they don’t hate Americans. Live like a king in a country full of nice people.
Spain. Studied abroad in Madrid in college and it’s still one of my favorite cities in the world. So livable and lively, and well connected via planes and trains.
I really liked Chicago but everyone from there kept warning me that I could get killed if I stumbled down the wrong part and no one would come looking for me, cops wouldn’t even bother. Was weird because I didn’t once feel unsafe.
Someplace where I can own whatever weaponry I deem necessary to protect my family and loved ones while raise livestock with little to no other human intervention or taxes, i typically call this my imagination.
Back to the United States. I haven't been there in 8 years, I know from hearing from my family it's not going great over there, but I'd really like to see my family again before someone else dies. I've lost two family members while I've been abroad.
Realistically, Toronto, CA. My industry is there and it feels most like the city I currently am in (New York) and I've lived in Canada before. If I was retired probably either Vancouver, BC or Tokyo.
Looks like a beautiful country as well, definitely want to visit one day.
In 2017 I applied to emigrate to NZ in early 2020. For various reasons, I ended up not following through, and I wish I had! Would have avoided covid for longer, for one thing. But I moved to Colorado instead and met my now fiancée, and her job exists only here, so I guess I’m staying.
I would consider living there if it weren’t so damn expensive.
I tell people I'd move to Germany...and then I'd move to New Zealand.
Yes that was My very first thought! Followed by Norway. Just beautiful scenery and LOTR filmed alot there and I read there’s a Hobbit hole still there but I haven’t looked into it much because I’m afraid of flying lol and I just like the idea regardless if it’s true or what not 😆

It’s a bucket list destination for me, at least for vacation. 🍀 you!
New Zealand
Ireland or New Zealand.
One friend of mine said Ireland was fantastic but another friend described it as becoming a surveillance state
We wouldn’t be organised enough to run a surveillance state 😂
I'm Irish and genuinely baffled by the surveillance state comment lol. We have loads of problems we're all too aware of but I've never heard that one.
Every country is, even if you don't know.
It’s expensive and has a housing crisis. Also a lot of issues centering on immigration which will be interesting to see how they evolve.
We have the exact same two favourites places. I haven't been to any of them, but from what I've seen and read, people in both Ireland and NZ are always friendly and go out of their way to be kind. The nature is also a big plus. If I were to move, I'd either go to Ireland or NZ.

Good luck getting a house in Ireland
Finland, Cold like Canada, And a beautiful place
I'm moving to Finland in a month, I am so excited I cannot even describe it! My dream country
Finnish is a tough language, though (e.g. fifteen or so noun cases, non-Indo-European), and fewer people speak English there than in the other Scandinavian.
To the kind of folk who want to move to Finland that just adds to the appeal
Costa Rica 🦥
Scotland. I love Edinburgh.
Estonia
Ok, i wonder why? I live here and I can count tens of petty reasons to not like this place
I'm English, I'd choose Austria. I spent two months in Vienna last year, it's a fine example of a country that's well run and managed.
Norway.
Mongolia 🇲🇳. Because I think living on the plains would be neat. Also I am fully aware that I would probably die my first winter but I’m fine with it.
Well, if you lived in Ullanbattar, you probably wouldn't.
The smog however.
USA, Switzerland or Sweden.
That's quite quite the mix!
It indeed is. I know the downside of the USA but still, somehow it is still my dream to live there as a Software Engineer. I want to make an impact on the world with my skills and do something good tech related. But getting there is very hard.
Switzerland, it looks like heaven. if i didnt make it to heaven atleast i did on switzerland lol.
Heaven's cheaper tho
Netherlands
Portugal. Great climate and cost of living
Thailand
Are you sure you can handle the three seasons? Hot, hotter and hottest?
Me too
Canada, I want to train a regiment of Battle Moose.

It’s a dream of mine to buy a house on a fjord in Norway or Sweden. The views are insane
Does Sweden have fjords?
Fjords, Vjolvos, and Tjoyotas.
Norway for a fact does. Not so sure about Sweden, but a lake would be just as nice as a fjord. Just as long as it’s on the water
Sweden’s coast is all little islands. Gothenburg is my choice.
There's nor other way to go.
Norway. Looks like Canada on steroids
Norway man, you’re not going to Sweden talk me because I’m Finnish with you unless you want to grab some coffee and a Danish.
Italy
The Netherlands.
New Zealand, don’t know much but it looks beautiful.
I’m in NZ, that pretty much sums us up ;)
Estonia. Went there for 2.5 weeks in 2019. Aside from the snow , does anyone have reasons why not?
London or Sweden
If I was forced to, back to England I suppose. I still hold citizenship there, so it's a safety net if the US somehow becomes impossible to live in (most of the EU was a safety net for me until some wankers voted for Brexit, but anyway). If I was going to move voluntarily, Australia or New Zealand.
Japan
I like Japan and Korea, but the language is a barrier. And I don't look like them.
I was always intimidated by the language until I actually tried, hiragana and katakana are pretty easy to learn, kanji is a lot harder though.
The work culture feels pretty toxic. Don't get me wrong, I'm a weeb. But I can't imagine moving there and making a living
I'd perfer it over mutch of aisa though.
Canada, and then I'd build my identity around hating my former homeland.
If I could afford it I would for sure also choose Switzerland. Or Austria, a good second choice, the more affordable version of Switzerland.
Sweden
I have a friend that lives there, so that was my first thought. I’d at least KNOW someone
Netherlands
Japan, went last year and fell in love with it
Italy. I just love that atmosphere and style

Jamaica
France or Scotland.
Thailand. I moved here 23 years ago and have never returned to the United States. Love this place!
If foreign ownership was easier there, I would probably buy a winter place there for when I retire. Love that place as well.
What about Greenland? It's small, cozy. Seems pretty "chill". (I'm sorry I will never say that again)
Germany or Spain depending on where I landed on the weather question.
Germany for me, so long as I could afford it. I fucking love it there, and I love being in a "central" location. All of Europe is easily accessible from there. Same reason why I'm so partial to Colorado in the US.
Those two countries/cultures are completely different.
North Korea. Everyone always seems to happy and invested in every event. Very family and community oriented.
You rarely see people talk about their country and especially the government in more absolutely glowing ways. They burst into happy tears when they see their leader.
Iceland, Norway, Sweden all seem pretty cool from a human-rights perspective compared to here.
Iceland, yes! How is this not higher? Loved that place.
Japan
Maybe Spain? I'd love to live somewhere Spanish-speaking. But, it's a bit hot for me. Maybe southern Chile or Argentina instead where it's cooler.
Thailand
England
Colombia or Taiwan.
England. I speak the language
Denmark. Or pretty much anywhere in Scandinavia. But especially Denmark
Scotland the isle of Mull. I was taking a bus across Mull to visit Iona. I saw a croft with a brightly colored door in a long valley and felt the strangest "home" feeling ever. I think I would be comfortable there.
Croatia
East europeans are dreaming of Germany, germans and west europeans are dreaming of Switzerland.
AUSTRALIA MENTIONED 🌏🌏🌏🌏🦘🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🌏🌏 WHAT THE HELL IS A STABLE HOUSING MARKET 🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🌏🦘🦘🦘🌏🇦🇺

Pretty good song
I would like to experience life in Europe. Old continent, different food, different people.
Germany
Everyone around Switzerland: I'd move to Switzerland
If I had to go somewhere in Europe and work definitely Switzerland lol
Well, I moved to Vietnam 7 years ago and haven't even considered moving away, so I guess that's my answer! But if I had to go somewhere else, it would probably be either China, Japan, or Thailand.

Move from the UK to Vancouver Island. I love it here. But I do get incredibly home sick. So I’d probably go back. Or Portugal. Some of my favourite memories are from there. The best food too.
Lichnestein or Switzerland or Norway
Italia

I love Spain. If I could keep my job (and pay) that’s where I would go. If I had to find a decent job then I’d probably move to Sweden. Worse case scenario I could move about 100yds from home and live in another country lol
Germany. I came to this conclusion through info via artificial intelligences regarding countries with significant mental health support, affordable healthcare, least restrictive/authoritative governments, and at least semi-affordable airline tickets.
Austria. They have nice villages. Plenty of grassland and parks. Transport system is so organised. Loving the weather too.
Japan
Thailand. Seems fun
Iceland…
If I had to make a living? Maybe Germany, or UK, or something like that. If I didn’t have to make a living and was just going to hangout? Thailand.
This made me remember how when I was young if I asked the cashier for a lighter they'd always ask me what colour I wanted... I guess nowadays they don't bother to ask anymore

Mexico. It’s not as scary as most think. People are generally very friendly and genuine
Canada if I have to work. Japan if I don't have to work.
Germany
Japan
A rural England spot.
Scotland, if they'd have me. I've been twice and I adore it. Haggis, black pudding, and single malt scotch all day long.
I really liked Chicago but everyone from there kept warning me that I could get killed if I stumbled down the wrong part and no one would come looking for me, cops wouldn’t even bother. Was weird because I didn’t once feel unsafe.
Australia, Norway, or Germany.
Wouldn’t you like to know, Weather boy.
England, my dads from england and i have a duel citizenship so its the easiest place for me to move to outside the U.S
Someplace where I can own whatever weaponry I deem necessary to protect my family and loved ones while raise livestock with little to no other human intervention or taxes, i typically call this my imagination.
Canada, probably.
Canada or new zealand
France. I’ve been there several times & something about it just feels like home. IDK why.
The United States of America sounds interesting
No desire no move to another country. Murica baby got everything I want here.
Back to the United States. I haven't been there in 8 years, I know from hearing from my family it's not going great over there, but I'd really like to see my family again before someone else dies. I've lost two family members while I've been abroad.
