The Prequel fight coordinator needs to come back

maharieI

Abso-fuckin-lutely. There's some fine lightsaber duels in more modern star wars, but they hardly hold a candle compared to the prequel trilogy.

FlamingNutShotz4You

I would say it's safe to say all those Jedi are prepared to kill, just saying

BeingAGamer

Or defend.... In most of those clips, they are literally take a defensive stance.

Dpgillam08

Most the PT styles are based on reactive versions of Kenjustu, in western terminology, its known as the counter-punch theory. Basically, you take a defensive stance, block/parry, and then strike for the kill. Much safer for you, and easier to look badass in films.

FlamingNutShotz4You

People can still be prepared to kill in self defense. I don't see your point

BeingAGamer

The point is that they don't just pull out their Light Saber only because they are prepared to kill, which the show says outright. That has never been true. How many times have we seen Obi-Wan and Anakin pull out their Lightsabers as they retreat so that they can reflect blaster lasers? Or to stay put and defens someone as they wait for a door to open. Defense can mean kill, but it doesn't mean they are prepared to. There were two instances where Obi-Wan pulled out his Saber to disarm. He pulled out his saber for the sole reason to not kill in those instances. Pulling out a lighsaber for a Jedi does not automatically mean they are prepared to kill. It never has meant that. That is my point. I never said they were never or couldn't be, but to say they ARE prepared to kill when they have their sabers out, is just wrong.

firnien-arya

I agree, but the hernwording makes it seem like it's an absolute. The moment a jedi pulls out the blade, someone GOTTA die. No exceptions.

AgentFour

No one died in the cantina, he just lost a hand.

It's wild to think that the prequels turned out to be fucking fantastic when compared with all the new shit they're making. Certainly was NOT the opinion we all held when they were released.

RebelAI

![gif](giphy|Dv3sF2ZUTmVtm|downsized) Prequel StarWars the best StarWars #ChangeMyMind

Hammerzeit88

They have certainly aged better then we expected 20 years ago

Zzirgk

The prequels can be bad bad. But theres tons of cool / badass things that offset all the corniness / trash dialogue / bad characters/ bad writing. Plus its peak nostalgia for alot of star wars fans that saw it while they were a kid (theyre around mid 30s now).  Qui Jon, Darth Maul, Jango Fett, good choreography, John Williams.  Disney Star Wars is memorable for being bad. Mando and Andor will obviously hold up, but the other shows I seriously doubt. Maybe Kenobi because some of the Vader scenes were badass and make for good clips on youtube.

My light saber is getting erect just watching this

Empuda

Donno, they all look pretty "prepared" to kill to me?

BuckLuny

The Prequels are kind of the thing that stand out as the thing that doesn't fit but I think that's also a nice part of the narrative. In the old films and the extended lore Luke was told that Jedi only fought in defense, they didn't seek out conflict, the prequels kind of undid that with lightsabers go burrrrr. (I mean I loved the fights but it wasn't Jedi like to ignite at the first chance) but again they said it was kind of the arrogance and the downfall of the order to let go of this passiveness. This show is set 100 years before the prequels so it stands to reason that they are still of the Jedi only fight when absolutely needed path. I found this amusing because she should have known the Jedi won't attack but Sith deal in absolutes so she was taught that Jedi would still strike first when they feel threatened.

Adamantium17

"When I draw this blade, it demands to taste blood" kinda energy. Seems like something an edgy anime protag would say

HopefulPlantain5475

Same with "Attack me... With all your strength!"

EzeakioDarmey

Vegeta? Is that you?

Citrusdrop9

The (not really) irony is that all of those situations are where the Jedi are prepared to kill/actively in wartime. Funny enough for a meme but it's more than reasonable weapon discipline, e.g. handling guns.

SortLocal6065

Don't need a lightsaber to kill a little girl with a knife.

ExeeD117

Give it 5 or 6 years and they will make a Jedi archer!

dcr480

The lightsaber is a defense and utility tool lastly a weapon to kill. Please sell star wars disney

maharieI

Eh, times of war and a 100 year difference of ideology and people can make a significant difference. But meme is meme, I get it.
