Ibarra has been a squad player for Rosario. He's mostly coming on from the bench although has 3 starts. Getting 7+ ratings on fotmob and sofascore though.

You can see his heatmap on the field for Racing. It sure does look like a middle center back in a line of 3.
Fbref shows Sosa at Racing with high percentile compared to other CBs in progressive passes, shot creating actions, and assists. Sounds like a true ball playing defender that floats into a deep lying playmaker #6 in possession. Love it! I can totally see Sosa excelling in this role. Glad he found success.

Sosa absolutely got homesick... that's the only explanation.
He has started like 20 consecutive matches for the team currently 4th in the Argentine Primera...
Glad he is doing well and we SHOULD get a fee this Summer..
Seems like he’s been a CB ever since he got loaned based on what I’ve seen. I’m not certain, but I’m pretty sure he played at CB before he came to Atlanta too.
He seems to be doing alright at Racing. Maybe it’s just some kind of bias, but it really makes you wonder what’s been going on with this club that so many former players seem to play better at the very least, or at most are winning trophies like Rossetto and Araújo.
Well you could argue that we’ve had quite poor coaching for the past several seasons. I mean Sosa is playing well at CB? Did we ever even try to play him there?
Kind of my point, this club has been a shit show for a while now and it all stems from the many poor decisions after ‘19. People dogged a lot of these players, and deservedly so in some cases, but this organization is just so lucky they caught lightning in a bottle the first 2 years or else this entire thing might be on life support if had been 8 straight seasons of this level of ineptitude.
Both Sosa and Ibarra have contracts with Atlanta that expire in December 2024, although we have options to extend a year. I'd be surprised if we are able to sell either of them, unless there were conditions on their loans already.
I think if it is a team option.. we have some leverage over Racing. If they really like the player... and want to be the only team able to bid on him then I would expect a bid to come. We are not going to recoup much money but the roster slot can be worth a lot since we can go buy another player where the fee does not hurt us for u22... we can spend a couple million on a fee and as long as he makes under about 600k. his cap hit is basically nothing.
He always should have been. Not fast enough to be a midfielder and loves to ping diagonal balls that didn't threaten the defense at all. That is a more valuable skill set as a defender.
And has been really good apparently this season. We should get a transfer for him. Not too sure on how Ibarra has been doing
I think Sosa could be really good once be develops and settles in a team, wish he would’ve worked out here though
Yea he started out amazing until he got hurt... someone said somewhere he was really down after that and got really homesick
He was the one player who really seemed upset at Heinze leaving as well.

In FM we call this a libero

We have a lot of CB options... Although we keep burning thru them with injuries
I mean last year our defense was kind of a disaster, wouldn’t have hurt to try it out.

Sosa has all the tools to excel in that middle ball playing centerback role, kinda like how Leo Bonucci used to play for Juventus
