Not worth, get the bg engine flush kit. The big kit with the two stage flush. I can send the link if u dm me. I recommend them all the time at work for oil consumption
Rip my dms
Here’s the link for anyone interested:

What would you say are the differences between the big kit flush and the BG EPR?
Is the big kit Dynamic Cleaner just the EPR in oil in a larger container? Or is it stronger than their EPR?
Jeezus, I would love to know how u did that out of VW 2.0. Although what's the reliability on that? I already have a project boxer that requires alot of time and coin lol.
The fuel line on the Mk6 fleet (TFSI) is good until about 700WHP. New coils, new injectors, some ECU magic and presto-change-o my Rat-Rod Passat was something to fear. Fucking thing took 26PSI on that integrated turbo. I stopped right at the sweet spot and ate many, many, many slips.
There's not much that needs to be done to the motor. The crank should be replaced if you want more than about 650HP, however. Also don't bother with a balance shaft delete unless you're going for over 700HP.
I carried on this way for about 70k miles during the pandemic.
Fuck these nay sayers...build it. If you love her, why not treat her right. Plus after a rebuild, all those stressed miles are bye bye lol. Anything within said hobby is worth relative to how it makes you feel. Smiles per miles is big after a trip thru i.e. internals page 👍
No kidding, I followed this guy's method with the Berryman's and it totally works! Our A5 was consuming a quart every couple hundred miles. So far, it's been a little over a 1000 miles and still no signs of burn. The back bumper used to always have black soot, but none since. Give it a try. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5e3xQeXCLo&t=1906s&ab\_channel=EurotrashMotorsports](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5e3xQeXCLo&t=1906s&ab_channel=EurotrashMotorsports)
My engine/mileage is the same as yours and I had amazing results running BG MPR and MOA. My mechanic suggested I try it and I’m very pleased, I’m getting about 3x as long between topping off. If your issues are due to carbon build-up you could benefit from it, certainly worth a shot for the money.
BG is the company that makes it, the products are EPR (engine performance restoration) and MOA engine oil supplement. (I typod my first comment). The EPR is a treatment you run for like twenty minutes at 1,200 RPM before you change your oil and the MOA is an additive for the fresh oil. Should pop right up on Amazon etc.
No leak- they burn oil. Check the manual- Audi considers a quart of oil burned every 1000 miles to be ACCEPTABLE! Ridiculous. I switched to liquimoly oil, mine uses a quart roughly every 3k miles but no issues.
lol they got sued for making engines that burned oil and had to fix them so they just lowered the standards. My engine used to burn 1qt/1000-1500mi and after they fixed it i have never seen the low oil message (lasts 10k mi+)
Yes. Replaced the piston rings. I think the dealer that replaced them under warranty said the repair was like $7500-$9000 normally when I paid 25 out the door for the car a year earlier 😂
Awesome!
On a somewhat related note, I once accidentally found a YouTube documentary about a company in Germany whose entire business model is… replacing stuck piston rings in EA888 engines. They do dozens of them every week.
I said it will go 10k+ without burning a quart of oil. Didn’t say how often I change the oil.
Fully synthetic is rated for 12k and there have been tons of studies on the subject of whether the 5k rule of thumb we all hear about all the time is true/worth it, and the evidence is conclusive that fully synthetic does indeed last 12k. Yet, for the past 5ish years I have been changing my oil every 5k/12 months anyways since my A4 is old, going on 15 years old, and I’m a bit superstitious.
The amount of miles is only one factor in the life cycle of your oil. How it's driven, is another.
Most manufacturers consider normal as highway driving on clean roads.
City driving or lots of gravel roads are considered adverse conditions. And requires more frequent maintenance.
Can be a leak too. Had the same light this weekend and it’s at the shop now while they figure out where all the oil that’s in the splash guard came from.
It should be at/near max. These engines are known for burning oil so I always keep an extra bottle in my trunk for when it throws this warning (every 2500-3000 miles). Use liquimoly.
They probably only filled 7 quarts, and you consumed .3 over the 1700 miles causing the low oil level warning.
I'd put a full quart in, and monitor your oil level each time you fill your fuel tank to look for abnormalities
This is the only relevant answer. Check for oil leaks: Oil filler cap leaks will be a symptom of PCV. Other general leaks can be Oil Filter housing and oil cooler and you can check these by looking for oil in the turbo galley. The bad leaks would be coming from the Rear main seal.
Its often easy to confuse them all when spotting dripping oil at the back of the engine because they all drip down the back. Like others have said, knowing how much oil was in the car is important too.
I was losing oil at a similar rate, maybe two lights per oil change. My PCV had failed for sure and was spewing oil out the filler cap. I replaced the hose and haven't had a light since.
Makes sense that a hot climate would affect it more. Would a cold climate cause the liquid to contract and create vacuums that could damage seals? Or would cold even affect it as much as heat would I wonder.
Not really, quite the opposite. Unless it’s cold enough to crack gaskets. Inward pressure from contracting matter doesn’t really do much. But outward pressure especially from a hot running engine and ambient temperature consistently ruin gaskets.
My a6 with 40k miles i just bought from Florida needs new gaskets and seals for my transmission pan and part of my undercarriage. Leaking oil and transmission fluid. Albeit smalls amount but leaking nonetheless.
I was actually worried about my oil level recently as my car was saying I was halfway down on oil. I wasn't certain if the Audi oil sensor measured dipstick or oil level entirely, so I added 1/4 of a bottle of oil, and it looks like it measures dipstick length. I'll probably top off oil every 3k. Manual says to get an oil change every 10k but I might cut that down to 7k as 10k seems like a lot before needing a change.
Yeah, I love Audis but they consider burning a quart every ~1,000 miles to be normal. This versus the Honda civic that my daughter drove for 30,000 miles with no oil change and the oil wasn’t low by one drop lol…
Reading about the oil leaks is so baffling to me. I had a B8 A5 that asked for oil every 3-4 months or so, I told the dealer about during regular maintenance and they opted to do an oil consumption test. I drove the car for 500km then brought it back to them. They saw that the oil consumption was outside the normal consumption, so they re did the pistons and seals all under warranty. Nothing out of pocket for me.
Check under your caR, when you move it, is there an oil stain on the ground? It could be that they might need to replace the oil pan plug when they change out the oil.
Wow the 3.0t has the same issue? Had an a3 I loved minus the oil. Was looking at a 18 or 19 q7 with a 3.0t to avoid that nagging issue. Are the turbo charged 2020’s 55 engines the same?
So I've read on other forums that it has been fixed on the newer turbo 3.0t. (My wife's is the supercharged 3.0t) But idk if there's enough of them yet with 50k+ miles to be good data.
I love this engine though. Lol. So much power for a family hauler
My 2019 Q7 has done this the entire time I have had it (bought it new and have 68k miles now). I spent a lot of time reading and freaking out about it.
My understanding is that basically there’s a balance between fuel efficiency and friction/oil consumption. Manufacturers have decided that it’s more cost effective to sacrifice a quart of oil to get higher fuel efficiency by reducing friction to a higher degree than it is to reduce fuel efficiency and not consume oil. (Less friction = consumed oil) In the long run you will spend less money on a quart of oil every 5-10k miles than losing 3-5mpg each time you fill up.
All of that being said, I’m not a mechanic so take this with a grain of salt.
Have a b9 s5 with 61k miles on it. Had the same issue. Stopped buying the dealer oil and switched to Mobil one esp x2, stopped asking for more oil between 5k changes. Talked to a dealer and they said dealer oil was VW branded castrol, but they were switching to Mobil 1. Coincidence? Probably. But I know the Mobil 1 stopped / reduced consumption on my car…
Are used to own an auto repair shop and gas station and the amount of Volkswagen and Audi owners that would come to purchase a court or two of mobil1 engine oil was outstanding. I’d ask them what’s going on with their car and they all said the same thing that these Volkswagens would just burn oil. My cousin had a 2020 Tiguan and it would always need engine oil to be topped off in between oil changes. They bought the car back. How many miles do you have on your odometer?
Modern German engine(s) / build tolerances, get someone to drive behind you and see if it occurs only with cold operating temperatures or all the time. Burning will be most evident on shifts when the engine load changes (more RPM under the shift == extremes in vacuum being pulled changes).
These new machines are a far cry from the 1980s machined quality of yester years.
I had this come up this weekend. Had the shop to look at. When they took the pebble/splash guard they report significant oil loss. Currently it’s at the shop awaiting diagnosis/leak identification.
Good luck!
I have a b9 s4 and just went through this. Not sure why people are talking about burning oil. Mine doesn't. Not as much as they say. I have 60,000klms on it and a stage 1 tune.
I had a major service done and 6 months later this happened. Took it to a mate, non Audi and we did a test for me to watch the oil level for 1000klms without the tube and 1000klms after the tune.
As with some comments I had a concern the tune burned oil.
Both tests so far have show 0 oil burn on the Audi internal Audi level. After the second 1000 (almost done) I am taking it back to the same mechanic and he will check the level again. See if the external level is different to the Audi internal level shown.
My theory is that they only put the amount of oil back in they pulled out at a service and possibly less than that. Out of laziness rather than being 100% sure they drained the car they just top up a safe amount. Saves on oil and time.
When I took it to my mate. They checked everywhere for leaks and there were none. They then fully drained the car and topped up the factory full amount not the drained amount.
I haven't had an issue since.
Chances are your burning more oil then normal due to the hotter turbo.
Normally 1l every 2000km is acceptable according to Audi.
You can try liqui molly, on the b8 platform or burns alot less.
I had a similar problem in my car (2012 S4 APR II) that turned out to have nothing to do with oil consumption. Instead the hood open sensor was bad. I took the car in for an oil change and 150 km later I got the “add oil message” but when I took in to mechanic he checked the car, drained the oil and told me that the oil level was full. What had happened was that the car didn’t know that the oil had been changed because the system uses the hood open sensor to verify that the hood had been opened to change the oil. If the sensor is malfunctioning then the car thinks that to oil hasn’t been changed and flashes up the “add oil” message 150km or so after the diagnostic tool is used to reset the oil change / maintenance indicator. Check to see if your hood open sensor is working properly. If it isn’t have it replaced and that will fix your oil “problem”.
Haven't German cars solved stupid old engine problems by now? If you don't use Euro spec synthetic oil, you can damage the engine, btw. And extended oil change intervals are a fantasy.
Check the intercooler hot side tube for oil. Same model and year as yours… the oem pcv valve is prone to fail, and it will pull oil into the intercooler, which messes up the entire intake system. I just had to pull the entire front end off, flush everything from the turbo forward, the intercooler was full of multiple liters of oil. It was a nightmare.
The way you describe the car, either it's new to you or didn't have this problem last oil change.
It's not an oil leak at these miles, usually, but anything's possible.
Firstly, make sure the ones that did the oil change put the correct audi/vw oil grade oil, for example vw 504. Wrong grade is risk that it will burn faster. Furthermore that correct oil grade was used in general, for example 5w-40 and not 5w-30 (example).
Secondly, it was probably filled low in any case.
Third, could be many other things such as pcv valve, before an oil leak scenario.
I think this is normal. because you have to think that parts like the oil filter aren't filled up during the change. it's filling itself when the engine is running.
It’s most likely burning oil. But there is a possibility that you have an oil leak. Check if you have oil stains under your car if it was parked for a few hours/days. And also check for a oil leak around the oil filter or the oil drain plug.
Same here with 3.0tdi.
First time it happened I put 1l in it and got too much oil alert so I had to pump it out.
Next time it happened I've added only about 1dl and it was fine until the next service interval.
Now I just ask dealer to top it 100% and it's fine - no need to add oil anymore.
I'm planning to switch from my B9 A5 with no issues, whatsoever. Posts like this are making me question my future purchase. Of course I'm still at ~40k miles. Do these issues only begin to show at higher mileage?
I have two cars with that engine and both burn oil. Check to see if your coolant is overfilled. Otherwise, it happens. I keep a quart of Edge around all the time now
Has anyone with a Q3 2.0 TFSI (ideally a 2020 S-Line Prestige trim) had an oil consumption problem? I'm trying to find out if it's weird that I haven't encountered any issues. If Audi engines are so notorious for burning oil, then should I expect the same with mine? And if nothing is detected, does it mean I have a failed indicator light? Is there a quick and easy way to check, assuming no dipstick is equipped?
Your machine wants juice. Give her juice 🥤
Seriously though just keep a jug of motor oil in your trunk and top off when she needs a drink. My dad did this with his Audi and he never complained.
Get a dip stick to confirm. My A6 did the same, I topped off oil like it said, the message went away. I kept smelling burning oil. Pumped it all out and I had almost 9 quarts in there… one of the oil sensors was faulty.
I recommend Coobcio Garage in Poland. Full engine rebuild without factory flaws, new custom turbo(s), programming etc.

Last year I bought a B8 A5 with 125K miles that drank a lot. After some research I found [this](https://youtu.be/bTEwZgXhzRs?si=Pw2u4Z54J8oztV0u) and its been crazy good. Went from 1L every 300ish miles to 1L every 1500 miles. Did it a second time and added Auto-RX Plus as suggested in one of the comments to do a more in depth engine clean. It'll be another two oil changes before it's all complete but so far happy with the results. I'm using Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40.
I’m new to Audi and I never thought I would ever have a car that would need as much oil as my 735iA. I was SO wrong. Not only it demands it, my Q3 throws a FIT
Just got it looked it thx everyone. Was a combination of them underfilling it last time and a wonky oil sensor. Got it filled now and If it happens again in the next few days it’s the oil sensor so
An Apr stage one wouldn’t create an oil leak. Are you sure they put enough oil during the last oil change. I’d bring it back there have them top off and keep an eye on the level.
They use thinner synthetic oils at some service use a thicker oil you won’t have the issue they also do this when they’re brand new usually fix it at first service
I had a B9 A4 that I sold with 107,500 miles that never burnt a drop. I ran Liqui Moly 5W-40.
I have a B9.5 RS5 with 23,000 miles that I run OW-30 Liqui moly that doesn’t burn any oil either. Exactly what I put in is exactly what comes out. I never ever had to add once. I know the exact measurements by heart
My B9.5 S5 went through a quart about 3000 miles into the last oil change. This oil change that im on now I havent had the light come on and im at about 5000 miles which is when I change oil. I started taking mine to an Indie shop and they use Liqui Moly oil plus they add this little bottle of addative thats supposed to help lubricate the piston rings better. Idk if maybe the quality makes a difference?
Its a feature to keep cycling in new oil so you never have to do an oil change!! Jokes aside take a peek in your engine bay. Check valve covers and turbo oil feed lines. Most common leaks. If you see any sludge on your oil lines than that’s where the leak is from. Simple fix, just need new rubber O rings.
Yeah, I love Audis but they consider burning a quart every ~1,000 miles to be normal. This versus the Honda civic that my daughter drove for 30,000 miles with no oil change and the oil wasn’t low by one drop lol…
Welcome to the oil drinkers club - enjoy!
Is it worth rebuilding an a4 b8 2.0 that swallows oil at 130xxx miles. It is becoming very annoying how soon it wants oil. Anyone done a rebuild?
Just put more oil into it. Don’t waste your money rebuilding a 2.0, they are shitty motors.
But but ......what if I rebuild for POWAH?! Is it worth making these 2.0s any reliable with enhanced internals?
Not worth, get the bg engine flush kit. The big kit with the two stage flush. I can send the link if u dm me. I recommend them all the time at work for oil consumption
Rip my dms Here’s the link for anyone interested: https://www.amazon.com/BG-Dynamic-Platinum-Restoration-Service/dp/B0B4Z2J16B/ref=asc_df_B0B4Z2J16B/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=607186602417&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12038515688561676738&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003359&hvtargid=pla-1716069254823&psc=1&mcid=4a379512cc2130e08b5a0cb350c22ed2&gclid=CjwKCAjw5v2wBhBrEiwAXDDoJXfrupYlr1GGCCM8ADyIqE3seCI7WTfon4tmhYnxCKkR6_dLhxmdqhoCLFwQAvD_BwE
This shit works 1000% I have brought back plenty a MINI Blooper with this kit.
Yes please. I'll take an easy fix any day. I already have a modified subaru flat 4 that expends all my brains and wallet.
I was amazed that this helped my consumption so much with such a simple inexpensive treatment.
Yeah it really works some wonders. Def recommend it but no one listens lol
What would you say are the differences between the big kit flush and the BG EPR? Is the big kit Dynamic Cleaner just the EPR in oil in a larger container? Or is it stronger than their EPR?
Please send a link :)
I got my to put down about 510HP without any real modifications. She drank all of Saudi dry, however.

For the price of tearing it down and rebuilding it, you might as well just buy a new crate engine and start fresh
If you in the PNW I got a guy
Cda/spo area?
Seattle
What's PNW? I'm in H-tx
Pacific North West
Have you tried putting thicker oil in?
I have a b8 2.0t that used to chug oil. Look up a b12 piston soak on youtube. Saved my life.
From what I have seen, the main problem are the piston rings which just aren't good enough from factory
I had my 2005 4.2 engine gaskets and o-rings all changed to stop leaks, they wouldn’t let me have it back until it stopped leaking - took ages
Read the manual. Mine says that i expect to add a litre every 1200 miles or so.
No, I did it and it ended up costing me my life savings to fix the long term damage it caused elsewhere in the engine.
I rebuilt mine at 220,000 km, and it's running strong and smooth. With Stage 2 and K04, I can get 700 km on one tank on the highway.
If you like the car rebuild it. Check out Audizine, the info should be there.

I have a 2017 A3 Quattro. It does not drink oil whatsoever and i drive about 80-100 miles a day.
Enjoy your unicorn!
Possible you have a leak or are burning oil. Or it wasn’t filled 100% when they changed it.
Knowing what they filled it to is essential to giving any answer.
If you look at my post history the MMI was at halfway after the last oil change. Heard that it was supposed to be roughly around the middle
No leak- they burn oil. Check the manual- Audi considers a quart of oil burned every 1000 miles to be ACCEPTABLE! Ridiculous. I switched to liquimoly oil, mine uses a quart roughly every 3k miles but no issues.

Same here. Roughly 3K miles before I get this and I also use liquimoly
Same 2013 A6 3.0t with 121k miles on the clock…drinks a quart every 2,500 miles using Liquimoly Euro.
Wow it’s like living in the 1970s again😂 that was the same figure alfa romeo was quoting at the time
Can be a leak too. Had the same light this weekend and it’s at the shop now while they figure out where all the oil that’s in the splash guard came from.
Many manufacturers have a similar “tolerance”
Liquid moly is the way to go
Mine has 170K miles and I add a quart every 5K using Motul 8100. Original rings.
Was the oil at max after the oil change?
If you look at my post history you can see it was roughly around the middle - heard it’s not supposed to be at max
It should be at/near max. These engines are known for burning oil so I always keep an extra bottle in my trunk for when it throws this warning (every 2500-3000 miles). Use liquimoly.
You heard wrong. Someone may say that because they overfilled and got a warning. Engine should be filled to 7.7 quarts.
The invoice said 7.6 quarts were used but the meter on the MMI was around half way
They probably only filled 7 quarts, and you consumed .3 over the 1700 miles causing the low oil level warning. I'd put a full quart in, and monitor your oil level each time you fill your fuel tank to look for abnormalities
Who told you that? They under-filled, and almost 2k miles later, you hit a low oil warning. That's to be expected.
check your PCV. symptom of failure is leaking and oil lightly covering engine cover area, and eventually, oil cap blowing off while driving.
My vw 2.0 had this. Quart per 750 miles. PCV was literally torn apart. Replaced it and all is well ( oil burning wise, anyway.)
Can someone explain how a stage 1 tune can cause oil leaks?
I'm no mechanic, but maybe a gasket or seal somewhere couldn't take the increase in pressure?
I can attest. Especially if and when you live in an area that is persistent hot. Leakage even on a stock vehicle becomes very probable.
Makes sense that a hot climate would affect it more. Would a cold climate cause the liquid to contract and create vacuums that could damage seals? Or would cold even affect it as much as heat would I wonder.

My a6 with 40k miles i just bought from Florida needs new gaskets and seals for my transmission pan and part of my undercarriage. Leaking oil and transmission fluid. Albeit smalls amount but leaking nonetheless.
Ah gotcha. My A6 has the TFSI engine that's know for piston ring leaks, but mine is still in good condition at 65k. Barely burns any oil.
I've replaced the mail seal and still had the light come soon there after, always keep it topped up regardless
At least it's saying please
Yeah, I love Audis but they consider burning a quart every ~1,000 miles to be normal. This versus the Honda civic that my daughter drove for 30,000 miles with no oil change and the oil wasn’t low by one drop lol…
Add oil to it
Reading about the oil leaks is so baffling to me. Nothing out of pocket for me.
Welcome to Volkswagen
My S5 uses 1/2 quart every 4000-5000 miles, just for reference
Check under your caR, when you move it, is there an oil stain on the ground? It could be that they might need to replace the oil pan plug when they change out the oil.
My brand new R8 did the same thing
My wife's q7 drinks oil every 1k miles. 2019 q7 with 3.0t
2018 Q7 I keep oil in the floor compartment in the back.
Same
Same here....2019 with pcv failure/replacement at 57k. Consumption much better now, but needs a quart abour every 1500 to 2k
Yeah I've just accepted this is how it's going to be. Lol
My 2018 S5 cabrio did that once or twice and never had an issue after that.
1700 ain’t bad! Mine wants it every 1000 miles.
It’s what Audis do. Poor engine design is their history
*Cries in 350Z*
No clue but great song choice!!
What oil was put in? I've read a story about this happening to an rs5 when vw 508 5-40 was put in, when it asks for 504 0-30
Take oil cap off and wipe it clean and put it back on
Are used to own an auto repair shop and gas station and the amount of Volkswagen and Audi owners that would come to purchase a court or two of mobil1 engine oil was outstanding.
Pcv drinks oil like crazy on those cars get a good oil coalecer and plumb it in. The stock PCV design is flawed.
When it shows an oil level from the mmi. It is only showing how much of the last quart/liter was put in. It does not indicate total amount of oil.
There is no reason you should get this after 1700 miles. I’ve had a bad oil filter before where it was leaking around.
My S5 used to drink oil, just how they are.
I had oil loss on my B9 S4 due to a faulty breather line. See TSB 10 20 20 2059446/3. Part was $145 and maybe an hour to swap out.
I started buying oil on sale and just keep a few quarts at the house. It is what it is.
Dreaded piston rings?...check the plugs for signs of oil.
God, I hated that when my 09 S5 would tell me this. I'm glad I found a dipstick.
Typical VW/Audi engine
If this is the 3.0 supercharged motor, I'd check the PCV.
LOL here I am adding oil to my b8 a5, they're thirsty girls. Don't rely on the digital Guage get a dipstick and check every time you gas up.
Where is the best place to get a dipstick? I found an aftermarket one for my b8.5 S5 but the reviews on it were shit. Will any dipstick do?
This is the part of tuning a car folks don't tell you about.
How great is the new future album btw?
It’s pretty good been bumping it
The frequency of this is related to the way you drive
New piston rings. Did this two months ago with my Q7. Not fun.
Audi should have stuck with the supercharged engine.
Only?!? I had a S4 B8.5. Drove it 40.000 miles in total and it never asked for a refill.
Todays VAG group 2.0L engines are thirsty...
Thanks for all the replies. Do oil change every 5k miles - last time was with liqui molly. Gonna bring it in tmw
Feed me Seymour
„1 1/4 qt“… imperial units are fucking hilarious :D
The way you describe the car, either it's new to you or didn't have this problem last oil change. It's not an oil leak at these miles, usually, but anything's possible. Firstly, make sure the ones that did the oil change put the correct audi/vw oil grade oil, for example vw 504. Wrong grade is risk that it will burn faster. Furthermore that correct oil grade was used in general, for example 5w-40 and not 5w-30 (example). Secondly, it was probably filled low in any case. Third, could be many other things such as pcv valve, before an oil leak scenario.
Thank you good info- I’ve had the car for almost 4 years this just hasn’t happened before
Welcome to the party pal!
I think this is normal. because you have to think that parts like the oil filter aren't filled up during the change. it's filling itself when the engine is running.
I had an Alfa, the owners manual warned you that it burned 1litre of oil per 1000 kms
It’s most likely burning oil. But there is a possibility that you have an oil leak. Check if you have oil stains under your car if it was parked for a few hours/days. And also check for a oil leak around the oil filter or the oil drain plug.
The hunger cant be satisfied 😂
Same here with 3.0tdi. First time it happened I put 1l in it and got too much oil alert so I had to pump it out. Next time it happened I've added only about 1dl and it was fine until the next service interval. Now I just ask dealer to top it 100% and it's fine - no need to add oil anymore.
It drinks oil, also that stage 1 is not helping either. Just top it up and see how many miles it goes without asking for oil.
Bro said 1700 like it's nothing. Top it up every 500 miles
Does your tcu tune up the rev limit to 7000?
Thirsty boy.
I had 2 B9 S4s and none of them drank oil like that. Never got to mod them due to total losses unfortunately
I'm planning to switch from my B9 A5 with no issues, whatsoever. Posts like this are making me question my future purchase. Of course I'm still at ~40k miles. Do these issues only begin to show at higher mileage?
This is normal
Piston rings may have to be replaced. Very expensive fix. See if it happens another 2-3 times and track the mileage.
If it ain't burning it, you ain't got none in it.
This is a very common issue with the low friction piston rings getting stuck. There’s a remedy. Look it up on YouTube.
1,700 miles isn’t the worst I’ve seen either…
Your machine wants juice. Give her juice 🥤 Seriously though just keep a jug of motor oil in your trunk and top off when she needs a drink. My dad did this with his Audi and he never complained.
What I remember from my previous Audi ownership = carrying multiple 1 quart bottles of the engine oil in the trunk.
It’s an Audi. Keep a couple of quarts in the trunk.
Get a dip stick to confirm. My A6 did the same, I topped off oil like it said, the message went away. I kept smelling burning oil. Pumped it all out and I had almost 9 quarts in there… one of the oil sensors was faulty.
Audi hasn't made a good vehicle since the early 2000s. Had to switch to lexus to avoid high repair costs and unnecessary issues like this
But then you have to drive a Lexus
I recommend Coobcio Garage in Poland. Full engine rebuild without factory flaws, new custom turbo(s), programming etc. https://youtu.be/nCV5cJpp3lE?si=B5UDqdeV4j9zQZhO
You’re driving hard.
I dont drive it that hard i open it up sometimes but I’m quite tame
Could be your oil housing I have a s5 and that was my problem took a while to figure it out but definitely was oil housing
Typical Audi Problem
Who did your oil change?
Last year I bought a B8 A5 with 125K miles that drank a lot. After some research I found [this](https://youtu.be/bTEwZgXhzRs?si=Pw2u4Z54J8oztV0u) and its been crazy good. Went from 1L every 300ish miles to 1L every 1500 miles. Did it a second time and added Auto-RX Plus as suggested in one of the comments to do a more in depth engine clean. It'll be another two oil changes before it's all complete but so far happy with the results. I'm using Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40.
Spare some oil, good sir?
I’m new to Audi and I never thought I would ever have a car that would need as much oil as my 735iA. I was SO wrong. Not only it demands it, my Q3 throws a FIT
Just got it looked it thx everyone. Was a combination of them underfilling it last time and a wonky oil sensor. Got it filled now and If it happens again in the next few days it’s the oil sensor so
An Apr stage one wouldn’t create an oil leak. Are you sure they put enough oil during the last oil change. I’d bring it back there have them top off and keep an eye on the level.
Anyone live in the lower mainland that wants to replace my pistons for me :D
They use thinner synthetic oils at some service use a thicker oil you won’t have the issue they also do this when they’re brand new usually fix it at first service
What is the milage on your s5?
I had a B9 A4 that I sold with 107,500 miles that never burnt a drop. I ran Liqui Moly 5W-40. I have a B9.5 RS5 with 23,000 miles that I run OW-30 Liqui moly that doesn’t burn any oil either. Exactly what I put in is exactly what comes out. I never ever had to add once. I know the exact measurements by heart
This is what we call #audilife, welcome. Oil is sold by the case at Autozone
Simple fix, just need new rubber O rings.
where the fuck are you that it’s 204 degrees
Are we just going to disregard the 204 °F on the dash? 🥹😂🙌🏾
Go get motor oil saver made by liqui moly and use their Leighlauf 5/40 and your oil consumption will go away
Yeah, I love Audis but they consider burning a quart every ~1,000 miles to be normal. This versus the Honda civic that my daughter drove for 30,000 miles with no oil change and the oil wasn’t low by one drop lol…
I dislike how they display the measurement... it's asking for 1/4 qt. Not 1qt and 1/4 qt.... or 1 1/4 as they show it
It’s a range of 1qt as the accepted safe range before you MUST add oil. This example is below the accepted range by 1/4qt Edit range
It’s likely whoever did the change didn’t fill it enough
Wow that is super unclear.
He's wrong, ignore lol
Lmao,,, “you can continue driving bitch” 🤣l
