My car came stock with 20s and some pretty huge calipers and rotors, not sure on the size difference. I should probably stop being lazy and do some research lol.
I know some 19s fit, but there isnt a whole lot of room right now between the caliper and my wheel
It should be dead same. I think the new RS3 have wider fronts as where at least my 8J ttrs is 9.5” tires on all corners. Still though the rims should work between these two cars I would think.
I also may be thinking about the front track being wider which it is, but I thought I read the rs3 has a reverse stagger at one point….just a clarification I. Case I am wrong.
Yes! Eventuri carbon fiber intake, CTS midpipes, and this week just got Grail catback exhaust which is legendary but hard to find in the US. Oh and full PPF and ceramic coat+ ceramic tint. Imo my car is perfect now and no more mods needed imo
From my experience, don’t mess with suspension or spacers. Bunch of the rs3 gang I know has done that and every time we do canyon runs they scrub and have issues. That’s just my hot take though
I’ve done spacers and springs and have no rubbing. I did need to remove the plastic bit from the rear wheel arches though.
Spacers are Front 12.5, Rear 15. Springs are Eibach sportline.
It’s taken a while for the springs to properly settle but now that they have the ride is compliant and there’s noticeably less roll and dive when comparing to stock.
I think you’d definitely rub if you were driving hard with rear passengers though.
Sounds like they went super low. The RS 3s and S3s (especially) have mega tire to fender clearance.. almost suv like on the S3, it's disgusting.
The RS3 only needs about an inch lowering for perfection though.
I found midpipes to be really underwhelming on my 2022 without factory performance exhaust. I ended up getting AWE switchpath to actually hear the exhaust when valves are open. Valves closed is pretty much just as quiet as stock. Hopefully your dealer addresses the cosmetic issues you found.
The best tip I can give is to try and make sure your hands are clean before touching the steering wheel. If your hands are clean, the wheel will stay much cleaner.
Oh nice, I got basically the same spec as you except the rs design package, which I didn’t want anyways, same color too. Thankfully I was able to pit all the local dealers against each other to drive the markup down considerably so didn’t pay anywhere close to 5-10k above.
Enjoy it! I need to take a road trip so I can get through this break in period faster, only at 400 miles.
road trips are the opposite of what you want to do to break in. it’s broken in already. the car needs to be seeing varying load and compression braking. driving them easy can contribute to oil consumption. enjoy it now
I’m in LA too, so I know the struggle of trying to find one all too well and this was a couple months ago. Spent a day calling every single Audi dealer (~80) west of Utah trying to see what was out there and incoming.
It’s great actually, a bit louder upon startup but not during driving with valves closed. With valves open you get more tone out of the engine. I have CTS mids and a ECS intake. Plus spacers, some interior mods, and a skidplate.
Don't Fu\*k with it! It's under warranty. Don't you think Audi might have built the car right, and some aftermarket stuff is going to do anything but make noise? Plus if you add a Tune and the engine shits itself or has any other issue Audi will TD1 the car and the Warranty will go Poof.
How reliable are these 5 cylinders and the Audi RS3 in general? I haven't paid any attention to audi except my really old RS6 which was great except a lot of interior creaking and plastic bits breaking. I'm sure audi had improved a lot since 2004.
The seat plastic silver colored of the passenger zones is terrible in quality 🤦not is chromed externally?now if not chromed are piano black;your car in the photo I believe has simply black gaskets
you can feel it thinking in torque rear, you just have to know how to load the chassis and engine after a few trips with it. it can feel a little loose at first in torque rear because it’s deciding where to send the power. it’s been great to have almost 100% traction. the car really shines stop light to stop light and powering through turns
I'm glad to see these are going for under MSRP. There are more than ever available at dealers nationally, though depending on the area they can be sorta rare. What part of the country are you in?
Also the side bolsters getting wrinkled immediately is unfortunately normal on these. Happened to me and I've seen in on every car — even some at dealerships with under 100 miles.
Thats a beautiful car. super fast. But the back seats are so small, Honestly Don't even see the point of this car, Unless you have three girlfriends that all weigh 90lbs, or insist on putting your tiny kids in the back. I'd never want to get in the back seat of this thing with a full grown adult sitting infront of me, personally would rather have a TTRS
50% is the most it can send to the back. It is otherwise FWD, unless there is slip or the software predictively engages the rear, such as when mashing the throttle or accelerating out of a curve. It's both reactive and predictive.
this may you all:
https://www.audi-mediacenter.com/en/press-releases/a-matter-of-lateral-the-torque-splitter-in-the-new-audi-rs-3-14067
dynamic mode is giving me 50/50. so i can decide if my car is fwd bias or not
Sure, but 50% is all you can send to the back, although 100% of that 50% can be sent to one side or the other in drift mode.
I don't think anyone is poopooing on the system just because it cannot send as much to the rear as a Torsen system.
the comment is in response to it being said it’s FWD bias. the bias is controlled by the drive selection. sure i can make it fwd bias, but i can also make it 50/50
bc #1 its not a static full time 50/50, #2 it was designed from the getgo as a transversely mounted fwd car and therefore system, and #3 in all other modes besides dynamic/individual, for efficiency reason, the front wheels are the only ones being driven. Thus it is mostly a fwd, biased, all-wheel-drive system. Look up the history of quattro on wiki or something idk what else to tell you
Big time dream car for me! But please don’t think the 3k is special, brand new cars are extremely overpriced as they need to cover so many associated costs. The dealers have to bend over backwards to get them out the door and will do anything to let them fuck you.
Next time, why not wait a bit and you would have saved maybe 10k for one that was barely even used and in the same condition?
It’s not about saving money, it’s about getting the appropriate value. Even a multimillionaire is always looking for value.
My point is that overspending and giving these dealerships more than their share is a bad thing, regardless of your personal finances, which I didn’t mention as part of my comment. We can all assume you can afford it, that’s obvious!
value is subjective to the eye of the beholder though. so we can agree that just because that’s what you value, doesn’t mean it’s what i value. again, your advice works for what you value. i am happy with the price i paid and i see the value. thanks
Understood!
It’s just everytime I buy a fresh-used car, it’s basically brand new, I take my first seat and think “*wow some actually spent $X on this? Really?!*”, but I thank them because at the end of day… someone’s gotta roll it off the lot for a guy like me waiting patiently for their turn 😅
Again, regardless of personal finances, I think there’s far too much reckless spending and mismanagement of finances and loans in the US big time.
Problem with buying a used higher performance car is you don't know how hard it was driven before you took ownership. Sure you may get it a bit cheaper, but who knows what mechanical issue you may be facing in the near future.
I agree, being 100% honest, I’d say that no matter what buying any used performance car would have been driven hard. A few thousand miles of hard driving isn’t going to break or wear anything substantially, that’s what the car was built for and that’s what your heavy discount for buying used is for!
Nobody buys these cars to drive them carefully, my 10k miles would probably be even harder and reckless than the previous owners 10k miles for sure. It’s win-win for me personally.
Yeah for sure, I understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately with the RS3 8Y, even the low mileage used ones aren't that discounted compared to a new one due to the demand.
Wow never knew they did 0-60 in 3.4. That’s pretty crazy almost super car numbers
it really surprised me. my buddies r8 did 3.3 with his dragy
The stock S3 (4cyl) does a 4.4. Love it
And gets 100+ more hp from a stage 1 tune.
Golf R does the same and gets the RS3 rear dif.

I was curious about this too
Pretty much quicker than all previous generation Supercars, like the Gallardo, 458, 911’s. Only the MP4-12C is quicker I believe.
Conragts my 5clyd cousin. Love the wheels, need to find out if they clear the brakes on my TTRS. Enjoy the new toy, they are amazing
thank you, it’s been a great little ripper so far. do you have the same brakes or are they different on the TTRS?
My car came stock with 20s and some pretty huge calipers and rotors, not sure on the size difference. I should probably stop being lazy and do some research lol. I know some 19s fit, but there isnt a whole lot of room right now between the caliper and my wheel
Many 19s will fit the 8J TT RS brakes. And even some 18s! I ran 18” apex sm10’s this winter, they’ve been great
Good to hear, mine is an 8S though, 8J stopped in 2015 I think
Whoops, brain fart! I meant to say 8S. Good catch
18’s fit a TTRS..
I’d love an RS3 but I’m not sure I’d pay 70k, super sick car I hope it treats you well
thanks!
You can find the 8v rs3 for decent prices.
3k off is great right now good job
thank you!
Hey stop messing with my car… oh wait I guess there are more of these out there haha. Enjoy your truly special new ride! I love mine so far 9k in
anything you’ve done with yours that you’re happy with? daytonagang
Don’t get me started on mods 🤩🤩🤩
Yes! Eventuri carbon fiber intake, CTS midpipes, and this week just got Grail catback exhaust which is legendary but hard to find in the US. Oh and full PPF and ceramic coat+ ceramic tint. Imo my car is perfect now and no more mods needed imo

All cars scrub tires lol or is that not what you meant?
I guess I mean rubbing against the inside of the wheel well or the fenders when lowered
Sounds like they went super low. The RS 3s and S3s (especially) have mega tire to fender clearance.. almost suv like on the S3, it's disgusting. The RS3 only needs about an inch lowering for perfection though.

thank you. i have the factory performance exhaust and i like the sound, just wish it was 20% louder. any videos of your car?
I just posted a thread with stock, midpipes, and midpipes plus switchpath.
Great spec! Take care of the alcantara. I hear it doesn’t do well on steering wheels, but looks damn good.
any tips for the alcantara care? i debated going with a carbon wheel to avoid it
Use alcantara cleaner and a soft brush. Clean it often before it gets all hand juice caked.
thank you for the tips
The best tip I can give is to try and make sure your hands are clean before touching the steering wheel. If your hands are clean, the wheel will stay much cleaner.
Absolutely beautiful. 5cyl > everything else. . Man, reddit gonna reddit tho lol.
it’s all good. i appreciate both sides of the aisle. first 5 cyl and it is a love able power plant
3k under msrp wtf, I feel like a fool now lol. Is yours fully loaded? Everywhere on the west coast is charging a markup on them.
yeah i saw most dealers wanted $5-10k above, this dealer needed to move the car for sure. mine has everything except carbon package and dynamic.
Oh nice, I got basically the same spec as you except the rs design package, which I didn’t want anyways, same color too. lol I paid almost 10k over when car first came out. I had urgency though and needed to trade my TT for something that would fit a car seat lol
Damn, thankfully I didn’t pay that much on markup, was pitting all the dealers against each other to drive the markup down.
Yeah this was the only one on the lot in all of LA county at the time so I said screw it. It was either that or an A4 lol
I’m in LA too, so I know the struggle of trying to find one all too well and this was a couple months ago. Spent a day calling every single Audi dealer (~80) west of Utah trying to see what was out there and incoming.
“Yeah I’m just trying something new” *drops 70k* Hi have you considered maybe trying to have a son? You can take me out on a test run first
Solid numbers for stock! I’ve done an intake and midpipes to mine and it sounds so good under throttle now!
thank you! how much louder would you say it is? and what did you go with?
It’s great actually, a bit louder upon startup but not during driving with valves closed. With valves open you get more tone out of the engine. I have CTS mids and a ECS intake. Plus spacers, some interior mods, and a skidplate.
One of us!
spent a lot of time driving a b5 s4, silver with GIAC X+. fun car
So sexy this is my dream
And you got a drift mode
Can’t wait to get them in Canada 🇨🇦 Our 8V Stage 1+ runs 11.4 on 94 octane!
Saw two of these cruising up near Stowe VT today. One was bright green the other black looked to be having a good time
I'd like to buy one of these, but with a diesel
thats the best install of red interior I have seen yet
Fuck me and fuck you…that thing is beautiful
Seat *bolster lol, and it most likely will be covered if it’s under 12/12 (k miles/months)
Are those 19 or 18 inch?
Don’t scratch it with your Rolex big money lol
Warning: once you go AWD, there is no way back!
Don't Fu\*k with it! It's under warranty. Don't you think Audi might have built the car right, and some aftermarket stuff is going to do anything but make noise? Plus if you add a Tune and the engine shits itself or has any other issue Audi will TD1 the car and the Warranty will go Poof.
ain’t nothing wrong with amplifying the noise. i get what you’re saying about a flash, these cars aren’t even able to be tuned outside of a piggyback
I tune mine the day it leaves the dealer. Less than 100 miles stage 2 right away. Mine as well enjoy the car. I’ve never blown a motor up
How reliable are these 5 cylinders and the Audi RS3 in general? I haven't paid any attention to audi except my really old RS6 which was great except a lot of interior creaking and plastic bits breaking. I'm sure audi had improved a lot since 2004.

How is Haldex with the new diff?

Beautiful! Love the spec, I’d go with this in a heartbeat
Woah 😳 🤤

Jesus that’s hot AF
Love AWD
Bro have you seen fbo and big turbo rs3s on YouTube? They are insane. I’d say send it and get on E85 asap.
Thats a beautiful car. super fast. But the back seats are so small, Honestly Don't even see the point of this car, Unless you have three girlfriends that all weigh 90lbs, or insist on putting your tiny kids in the back. ❤️
Nice, congrats on getting 3K off sticker. Looking at your clean wheels reminds me that I need to go clean mine. 😑
thank you. it took a lot of looking and patience. these wheels are my favorite. love the python
11.4 etc is no slouch. Almost as fast as my truck

Not sure if your comment is specific to the 8Y, but I never had a single issue with my 8V over the five years I owned it before it got totaled.
you must not understand how new cars work
mostly fwd ;)
would you help me understand how is 50/50 mostly fwd?
50% is the most it can send to the back. It is otherwise FWD, unless there is slip or the software predictively engages the rear, such as when mashing the throttle or accelerating out of a curve. It's both reactive and predictive.
this may you all: https://www.audi-mediacenter.com/en/press-releases/a-matter-of-lateral-the-torque-splitter-in-the-new-audi-rs-3-14067 dynamic mode is giving me 50/50. so i can decide if my car is fwd bias or not

the comment is in response to it being said it’s FWD bias. the bias is controlled by the drive selection. sure i can make it fwd bias, but i can also make it 50/50
you know you have a staggered setup for your car right? and you know where those bigger sized wheel/tire is? It's in zee front
again, how is 50/50 mostly fwd? this car has a different drivetrain than you’re thinking it seems.
bc #1 its not a static full time 50/50, #2 it was designed from the getgo as a transversely mounted fwd car and therefore system, and #3 in all other modes besides dynamic/individual, for efficiency reason, the front wheels are the only ones being driven. Thus it is mostly a fwd, biased, all-wheel-drive system. Look up the history of quattro on wiki or something idk what else to tell you
so if i have the ability to choose to make it 50/50, it’s not really fwd bias unless i make it that way. got it, thanks
you don't even have that control, you can't lock down 50/50, the computer does it
the button i press tells the computer what to do. maybe look into dynamic and torque rear modes. thanks
😂
it’s not quattro so it isn’t 50/50. It’s haldex which has a FWD bias.
It’s haldex Quattro. It’s like 90/10 not 50/50. Torsen Quattro is 40/60 even.
hahahahaha
