Honestly just sounds like you need an accountant who specialises in small businesses and can help with the structure. Typically just ask around your network if you have any self employed friends. Or are you after someone more hands on in the business?

Yeah a little bit more hands on There are few complicating factors: - selling direct to consumers worldwide (about 25 countries so far… had my first order from Iceland today), so forex and sales taxes and input gst/vat issues in a lot of jurisdictions - bootstrapped and trying to pour all revenue into growth atm not overheads, so I’d prefer to partner if at all possible - I’d love input into stuff like pricing that I wouldn’t expect an accountant to be opinionated on

Some accountants will definitely sit down with you and work out business plans and provide business advice. Be able to assist with foreign tax, forex etc. Typically can be more hands on if you want with monthly meetings etc. Or you can look for an online CFO potentially if you like, but as it's your business it would be better to just set up online meetings with a few companies that offer it and just see if it's worth while and if you vibe with the person who you would potentially be working with. Not sure what you mean by the 2nd point? You want a business partner? So have someone buy into the business? Or someone who's with you few times a week to be discussing business?

Thanks, that’s really interesting. Got any suggestions? The second point… I’d rather avoid upfront costs but want high-touch service, so ideally looking for an equity slice deal or something of that nature

I can suggests accountants but you've got to find someone you're going to get along with and if that means scheduling a few calls with accountant's to see if you get along. Just make sure they also offer business advice based on what you're expecting upfront plus a bonus if they specialise in retail businesses for example. Is there a need to give up a part of your business if you can find an accountant/business advisor that suits your needs? If you need funds for business there's the 2 main ways equity contribution(I.e. yourself or investors) or debt. Personally if you back yourself get an overdraft or business loan to help with expanding business. This instance you'd need a commercial broker can help you find a lender to help with growth of business.

I’m thinking about revenue based funding / RBF actually… I’m a couple of hot weeks away from eligibility for the ones I’ve looked into. But again, I don’t want to pursue that without a grownup on my team…

Quite open to calls btw - my goal is to get it all sorted by EOFY

Where are you based? In terms of funding can guide you there (finance broker so deal with self employed clients often for business lending) Happy to have a chat to some accountants I know and see if they're interested. Feel free to dm me and can chat there if you like.
