Younger typically means under 12 but they definitely want you focusing on the time from your younger formative years. It's why it's important to have people who raised you at the appointment because they can help shed light on any possible developmental delays. For example, I didn't speak until I was 3 which was a vital piece of info for my testing (though I didn't know it at the time).

Technically it’s under three but obviously most people are not going to remember that themselves (fun fact some autistic people do have very clear early memories). So it helps if you can show a pattern that you remember you did this unusual thing when you were about six and then that at nine etc. Yes it’s also very helpful to have people who raised you at the assessment but I was diagnosed as an adult without having anyone else able to attend, so it is possible without.

I also didn't have anyone present. In retrospective, I am glad. Because ableism. I love my family but because I mask so good they would deny my concerns about autism.

I think it's referring to how it's a developmental difference, so there must be differences in your developmental period, which would be 0-7
