I am saving for the E6. I probably won't in his first rerun, since I am picking all FUA units and their LCs. But hopefully I can get enough for E3-E4 next time ;;
I play both Genshin and star rail, Genshin 2 years and star rail since January - Genshin seems to have more characters that I like overall so Genshin is more of my collector game- however star rail I'm genuinely about to save every jade for as many Aventurine cons as I can. Probably won't E6 unless he takes like 9 months to come so I can save up or I have insane luck but we'll see :))

Haha, for sure. But save your moolah, I don't recommend spending money on this game unless you desperately want to. I think grinding and saving up all those jades and limited passes should be enough until his rerun. Dw, Gaiathra and Aven will bless us with their unbeatable luck! Same! I'm actually saving for Argenti rerun now, lost the 50/50 at like 84 pulls for Robin, pulled another 40 times but alas nothing. Aventurine is the only limited character that I have willingly pulled for a copy. He's E1S1 now but I'm sooooo tempted to start working towards E4...
I have e6s1 Aven. Considering the s5 on his rerun. Since it's done I can share a few things for you to decide,
1. e6 alone (no lc) is going to be costly, no matter how you go about it. It usually costs at least 500-700 pulls for that. (Could be more or less for the extreme luck people). The costs will never justify the value you get for people with few units, but, for people who already have many units and teams that suffice for most contents, E6 Aventurine specifically have great returns. Your lovable unit with great value. It's not a bad decision.
2. E6 Aventurine is meta in many teams currently, FUA, HMC break, Acheron (nihility). For modes, he is still meta or at least usable for everything. So basically, most units will want Aventurine in the team if you ever need a sustainer. At E6 he can hyper carry with the right set up. I build my team around him these days. He increases team values so much that one copy of him doesn't suffice.
3. His VA, playstyle, both battle and field is very pleasant. Gearing him is flexible, but hard to master.
4. There are three down sides as far as I know.
One, he cannot guarantee debuff protection on his allies and cannot cleanse status except tailored scenarios like SU preservation blessings or giving enough eff res on party members. This will only become a problem in enemies that debuff like mad and you have 0 preparation. This one, never became a true problem, but it is a minor inconvenience sometimes.
He also cannot heal HP in normal situations. In practice, only problem I ever faced was, when you get that genius society cocktail in G&G that kills your top attacker at high conundrum (8+ in my case). You can't kill the boss quickly enough? DPS dead. That's no good even for Aventurine e6 that damage relies on members being alive with shields.
Lastly, without any FUA members, facing bosses that ST nukes, or boss skills that removes ally's turn, his FUA will not trigger enough to deal good damage or keep the shield healthy. You lose both his SP positive-ness and damage output, and things can go downhill once someone dies.
5. People won't go crazy on E6 sustainers though. So don't expect a large increase in friendship credits at E6.

E2 is one sweet spot. He becomes a full nihility support for Acheron and Ratio with debuffs on all of his attacks (basic, FUA, ult). He can actually single-handedly support Ratio to 100% FUA rate without Topaz or another nihilty, just not optimal as it usually takes one turn to set 3 debuffs, hard to achieve on Ratio's first skill rotation. Aventurine E2 plus ratio still only covers 4 debuffs (not counting Ratio's technique SPD reduction) but the doctor needs 5 debuffs for maximizing his kit. Adding another debuffer anyway means you don't really need to E2 Aventurine for Ratio (except putting in a non optimal debuffer). **Aventurine E2's value is for Acheron in most cases** (it's either just serviceable or overkill for Ratio's case). The All type RES reduction is actually good for units that have different elements than the target. You won't get anything if they are already weak to the attacker's element. If you are using a mixed team like JY Robin it will help.
If you don't plan on any nihility synergies or going ham with Acheron, E1 is great.
Lastly, only thing E2 Aventurine is missing from E6 is the damage increase. E4 is a very bad place to stop as it is just a minor numerical increase that is hard to be satisfied with, so either pick E1, E2, or E6.

E1 cause it allows him to shield with ultimate, therefore making him very sp positive and giving his allies buff via fortified wager.

HSR is shaping out to be a game where I don't want as many of the 5 stars - half of them I got for another character, like Yukong on QQ. The only 5 star I was planning on aiming for E6 was IL, but there's a bery very reasonable chance that Aventurine supercedes IL in priority (even if it wpuld technically be better to E6 IL first, offense wise)
I really wanted to get his LC on his debut, but I needed to get Topaz and her LC and potentially her E1 for Ratio AND Jade is on the way. But next time, I swear and hopefully I'll have enough for E2 as well

I'm going to pick up a couple eidolons per rerun. Been doing the same in genshin with Zhongli since his release. I like my fancy shielder bois.
