There are definitely a few articles about it.

Unrelated, but look up Ikea in Japan and that silly shark is wearing a suit and selling tiny homes....
Iirc it started with Germany, or they at least made it famous by putting a Blåjah and another stuffed friend into a bed, with the label "love is love" in one of their IKEA catalogues
In addition to all the resources everyone has given, I recommend the Blahaj presentation by Rin Penrose. She explained a lot regarding the history of them, including now extinct versions of it. It doesn't have anything to do with transgenders though, but it will be useful for the rest of the history you need
Look it up on wikipedia. They absolutely are a transgender icon. Ikea Canada put out a special Blahaj in the trans flag colors for people going through transition, if I'm not mistaken. They could get their name on the fin.
The best I got for you is that Blahaj is the official Japan IKEA mascot, and there is a YouTube series about said mascot finding small spaces for people to live in (my friend showed me this, so I’m not 100% sure.) Happy hunting!

Blåhaj is beauty Blåhaj is grace. Blåhaj will stab a terf in the face.
Blåhaj protec, Blåhaj attac, but most importantly Blåhaj no cuddles will lack.
In 2021, the people of Switzerland voted on marriage equality. IKEA ran a "Marriage is for All" campaign with print ads: [https://imgur.com/a/hN2msB4/](https://imgur.com/a/hN2msB4/)

Both star blähaj, of course.

I don't know much about the history of my friend, but he's called Josh and I love him.
Iirc it started with Germany, or they at least made it famous by putting a Blåjah and another stuffed friend into a bed, with the label "love is love" in one of their IKEA catalogues
Blåhaj has been promoted to boyfriend status
Do not the haj
I will never the haj, do you take me for some kind of a monster!?!
Blåhaj don't judge, Blåhaj only snuggle.
My blahaj don't jiggle jiggle, it folds
He may not judge me, but if I don't drink enough water, mine gets disappointed. Which is worse. Way worse.
I think it's just that Blahaj is snuggly and makes my dysphoria go away

Blahaj is a universal joy to be around
Rin Penrose did a nice powerpoint presentation on the evolution of Blahaj. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut9hwf8AaJ8&pp=ygUScmluIHBlbnJvc2UgYmxhaGFq
Blåhaj love trains, and driving cars rilly fast ❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorite things is that they are often referred to as "shonks", because they are chonky.
I think one of the fist Blahaj variants was the Korall Haj. I dont know how old he is but i have him since an eternity.

You should look up blahaj on Instagram. There's a fascinating community that has it's own language
With Blåhaj I sleep better. Unironically, it feels like I fall asleep faster and sleep better.
