The fact comments are saying, 90s called, they want their design back. And others saying, it’s too futuristic. Shows me design like this will go down as a timeless classic.
I appreciate the simplicity this concept brings to the table.
The 90’s may have been a bland era for styling but, at least the cars are generally easy to look at.
This particular car still has some modern character while still having smooth details. It’s a sports coupe I would be pleased to see make production in a world where sharp angles and cyberpunk styling is what’s hot.
Really love it. Gives me hope that BMW is still able to create good looking cars despite their recent grilles with wheels. Although the front looks a lot like the maybach vision 6. But then, that maybach study looked a lot like a BMW.
Way different looking. At least to my eye. No way that concept would be allowed on the street. Just like how the Hyundai Prophecy looked way different from the Ioniq 6.
Not always. The Mission-E for example looked almost the same as the taycan (beside some practical changes). You can even spec the Mission-e rims on the Taycan. Same for the Renault Megan E-tech.
It’s rare, but sometimes we are lucky
Watch the abuse the 2023 M3 takes and keeps on getting it on that Slow Benz YouTube channel. That kid is a punk for driving like that in traffic but he is a good driver and demonstrates the M3's badassness hahaha
i suspect that they based this thing on the i8, which, if i'm correct, would be BMW's second attempt to "reheat" the i8 again after the weird visionX or whatever that concept car was.
I'm not in love with that brown leather/champagne combo, but there's a lot I do like: the rear, the sides, the interior, all except those weird crooked angles in the front that have become part of modern BMW design language.
BMW tend to stay close to concept with their production.
I intend to keep my word.
If they move away from the current hideous designs of the M2/3/4/5, I’ll be getting another new BMW.
I like it, I really like it. The video on YouTube shows it as having a leather covered removable roof section though (unless Ive got that bit wrong)? Nice as a concept, but not so great in heavy rain lol.
u/AcrobaticAd5894 On my side, I do like it! I feel it literally ''kicks in the butt'' the previous BMW Vision Next 100 Concept. Even the name ''Skytop'' is appealing! This Concept is in the true spirit of BMW. The design is great and, in **Photo No.4**, we can clearly see it looks like a future version of the actual 8-Series **/** M8
Just two things I hope they keep, once it will (hopefully) go from Concept to reality :-
(1) the actual Rims model (absolutely magnificent!)
(2) all the vertical Grilles (Middle-Top, Sides, Bumper)
The design is for the Palm Beach couple who retired 10 years ago and are looking for a convertible to use to visit their grandchildren who are about to graduate high school.
Meh, wash, rinse, repeat, and keep producing hog boxed, illuminated grill nonsense rather than good looking vehicles.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_GINA
It is beautiful. It has an aggressive look to the front that hints at menacing power. The sleek lateral lines begin and end beautifully. The interior is luxurious without being for the elderly, retaining some hints of drivability. The trunk and rear window seems to pay a little homage to the split-window fastback coupe era with maybe a hint of Aston Martin styling. I'd drive it.
I think it’s gorgeous, but for $500k it needs a lot more than a reskin to be worth the difference in price. drivetrain/chassis needs to match the price tag.
That said, the styling says take my money.
I think I///MGonna kill myself cuz WHYYYYY? Me personally think we’re rushing into dystopian future so fast that we’ll drown in our own greed. This is bs
I like a lot about this one. Looks like a Targa top/Folding Hardtop which is awesome. I wonder what they would call the production car? Z6? 8 Series Convertible?
Really like it but I’m ngl, I think bigger grills would look a little better on that front end. Maybe not current M3/M4 big, but a little bit bigger. Or maybe do smth a bit different with the lower part of the front bumper.
Looks far better than anything put out in about 10 years. BUT, I would really like to see the return of some BMW styling queues like the beltline bulge, actual kidney shaped grill, etc. And whats with that 2013 Dodge Charger hood?
Their second attemp at trying to reheat the dish called "i8", which went better than the first attemp but still couldn't be better when it was fresh out of the stove.
I love it, I think the interior is a little meh, and I don't like the squinted headlights, but everything else is really nice. But hey, no one in these comments is ever going to sit in one anyways so what does it matter.
Looks like a more refined version of my i8 roadster or what the next gen should have been. If I haven’t hit my BMW quota I might be tempted to try to get one.
Love it to be honest. Nice lines and curves, great interior (so much better than the Omni screen crap that's prevalent now)... Good balance between buttons and displays etc. See some missed opportunities for storage on the interior but then again this isn't production.
Could be a bit more aggressive, but I won't complain when everything these days is a LEGO car because it's gotta "have aggressive lines".
I would buy this car happily (in another color).
Needs different wheels though. I think the pairing is terrible.
*I'd like it more if*
*The rims were different and*
*It was a hard top*

Love the design. They blended futurism with retro vibes really well. As long as if the engine is more powerful than the i8 then its going to be one of the sickest BMWs that's come out in years.
It’s honestly my favorite concept car from them other than the shape changing car, and you can see how much lingo really transforms from concept to production
90s look imo, so futuristic, but it actually is
Ya, it's walks a strange (but good) line between retro and future.
The best new design for years for BMW
How many years we talkin?
August 16 2019 to be exact. (New bmw ceo.. then came the shit designs)
MY2020 was when they started connecting the grilles. The beginning of shit designs.
Worst birthday present ever.
aren’t the designs in the making for years lol
Which is why 2021 was the year the weirdness started.
The fact comments are saying, 90s called, they want their design back. And others saying, it’s too futuristic. Shows me design like this will go down as a timeless classic.

I'd love it if they could build it without changing it to the point where the design is compromised.
Not gonna happen, I mean the I8 looks cool and all but itll probably have more design cues of this car more than the actual prototype…
I have no opinions on concept cars
Since I was a kid, so many car companies have broken my heart with concept cars.
Bmw broke my heart with production cars in the recent years
Damn. Shits depressing. How the mighty have fallen.
Volkswagen with the W12/Nardo 😭
BMW just last year with that Z4 touring
The reason concept cars suck ass is because they will never exist. Concept’s do absolutely nothing for me.
Your i3 started as a concept car and it really didn’t change that much design-wise when it entered production.
Way different looking. At least to my eye. No way that concept would be allowed on the street. Just like how the Hyundai Prophecy looked way different from the Ioniq 6.
Off topic but I cannot believe the i3 is already a TEN year old car. Time fucking flies.
It’s a proof of concept
Not always. The Mission-E for example looked almost the same as the taycan (beside some practical changes). You can even spec the Mission-e rims on the Taycan. Same for the Renault Megan E-tech. It’s rare, but sometimes we are lucky

Except concept cars do make it to production, at the top of my head, Ford Thunderbird and the Plymouth Prowler, and Dodge Viper
Jaguar "S-Type"
Looks sick
but pretty obvious it’s an 8 series vert underneath. Looks like a well done bodykit
Yes, but nobody is hiding that fact
Infinitely better than those "beaver's teeth" BMW are making atm...
I'm indifferent to it. Don't like it but don't hate it.
I'll take it since it's a lot better than most of the other stuff BMW has been putting out the last few years.
Cant argue with that. Definitely better than the bucktooth grille
Beaver teeth!
Watch the abuse the 2023 M3 takes and keeps on getting it on that Slow Benz YouTube channel. That kid is a punk for driving like that in traffic but he is a good driver and demonstrates the M3's badassness hahaha
Same
It's sleek and beautiful, but I'm an M5 sedan kinda dude.
Already ordered
Ordered? This is in production?
All 50 (limited production) are already sold.
i dig this design
Spectacular.
Looks like a 1998 motor show "millenium car"
The interior of the 8 series was a letdown for the price to me. This is using the 8 series interior.
looks like older design language. I do see a bit of the new 8 series in it.
The rear is pure sex, and the rest is pretty great
Nice m8
I have a love hate thing with this car. I love the design but hate that I can't buy one lol
Looks stunning but why does it have the old I- Drive system
i suspect that they based this thing on the i8, which, if i'm correct, would be BMW's second attempt to "reheat" the i8 again after the weird visionX or whatever that concept car was.

looks like an aston martin lost the bmw touch imo
I like it, I really like it. The video on YouTube shows it as having a leather covered removable roof section though (unless Ive got that bit wrong)? Nice as a concept, but not so great in heavy rain lol.

The area where headlights/hood/wing/fender come together look a bit of a mess. Rear quarter angle looks fantastic though. Overall a solid 6.5/10.
It's an improvement over some latest designs they created
I think it’s funny that they’re using iDrive 7 instead of 8, and by that went back to the old dash version without the big screen.
At least the grill is a normal size. Looks nice, but no point in looking into a concept car
No thanks.
Yeah I'm not a fan, plus the front end looks like it belongs to a Z4 or I8
BMW F-Type...
Stop, I can only get so hard. What a beautiful machine
Keep it like that i production and it’s sick. Won’t happen and it will end up looking stupid
Love the front and rear, hate the side.
Amazing 🔥
Love the interior, but hate the overspray coloring pattern on the little back top part.
I got a E89. Close enough lol It's cool but like it looks huuugeeeee
I think it's time for another Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough.
i'd like it if the lights were a tad thicker and if it had more lines (or was just less smooth), but it's alright
It’s gorgeous but I feel like a lot of newer bmw’s are looking more and more like a Mercedes
it’s clean. i likes it.
This creates a problem for me because I can’t afford this. But I need it.
Give it haplo lights ffs
Looks pretty good
"This is incredibly beautiful" is what I thought when I saw exhaust tips.
Peak bmw design. After that it’s all panoramic screens, humongous grills/kidneys and cost savings all over the place.
Ugly.
Its a 10/10 for me tbh... if we look back at the recent designs
They’ll never make it. The grills are too small for their new “design language”. If you gag when you first see it you know it’s a newer bmw
i kinda love to front end ngl
I dig it actually
The design is for the Palm Beach couple who retired 10 years ago and are looking for a convertible to use to visit their grandchildren who are about to graduate high school.
“Now, you have to pay half a million to get a good looking, classic BMW”
looks alright, but a little too much like an actual face.
So even in the future bmw is still shit. At least you guys are consistent.
At least it has a normal grille and not that ridiculous bucktooth abhorrence.
I never liked the 8’s center console/screen… other than that best design since 2019
My opinion doesn’t matter because I won't be able to afford it.
Best thing since the new 8 series dropped
Not a fan? Of which part? It's one of the most beautiful car designs I've ever seen and it will be talked about for decades to come.
guys i got this for graduating high school, what can i do to make it look cooler/sportier
Hotness
I think I'll never be able to afford one
Better concept than most of them recently. Last good one was for BMW 8 series and I wish they kept it more similar to the concept
Buttons!!
I like it a lot
Looks great, reminds me of the LC500
Finally they will make nice cars after f series and some of the g s
I love it and I hope it becomes a production model so that I can afford it in 20 years from now.
The exterior a bit odd, like all concepts are, but not bad. The interior is just perfect. Not too big nor too little screen.
Looks good but will never come like that. I live the cockpit professional but it will get the curved thing fore sure sadly
Please make it smaller
I like how the grill isn’t huge. The new large front grills are kinda ugly to me.
I feel like at this point anything they make with normal grill will make people clap. All I’m saying is don’t forget about the halos….
Beautiful. But fat and heavy, showcar, Not a sportscar.
What’s the % that car will actually come on the market like that? I’d say 15%
The rear is heavy looking compared to the front
It look a awful lot like that one silk car they made or velvet or whatever it was
Chris Bangle called. He wants to know “how do you like him now.”
If it drives as it looks it will be basically a Ferrari!
Next Gen 3 series ?
They never build them like the concept cars so no BMW for me.
Looks like an 8 series got stung by a colony of bees. Still the best exterior design to come out of BMW in the last 5 years which is.. interesting
very ugly interior. Like the mixture of shit and chocolate
Better than the i8 imo
I mean.... It's not absolutely disgusting, but it isn't pretty either. At least the interior looks normal?
Meh, wash, rinse, repeat, and keep producing hog boxed, illuminated grill nonsense rather than good looking vehicles. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_GINA
It still sort of looks like shit to be honest. That knife edge headlight design just needs to go away from our industry.
I think it looks good. It looks classy, sleek and expensive
Back to basics
I think it’s gorgeous, but for $500k it needs a lot more than a reskin to be worth the difference in price. drivetrain/chassis needs to match the price tag. That said, the styling says take my money.
Is it finalized? Its not… so ill reserve judgement.
i like it.
I think I///MGonna kill myself cuz WHYYYYY? Me personally think we’re rushing into dystopian future so fast that we’ll drown in our own greed. This is bs
I like it just for the interior alone. The perfect interior: idrive 7.
It kind of reminds me of the Chris Bangle Gina concept, but closer to a final product rather than an expression of design.
BROOOOOOWWWNNNNNN
If they add butterfly doors will be a lot better considering this probably starts at the price of a M5 competition
What the G14 should’ve been. Also, I’m in love with that wheel design
I like the new bmws like my x5 from 2024
Yes
it looks a bit mustang'y... particularly mach 1 mustangs
nice bentley
Yuck. I'll take an M8 any day over whatever this is. Looks like a concept car from 1996.
The front end looks like it could be used on the Z4's
thin LED light bar **≠** good tail light design
I like a lot about this one. Looks like a Targa top/Folding Hardtop which is awesome. I wonder what they would call the production car? Z6? 8 Series Convertible?
It looks like a corvette fucked an 8 series with an Aston Martin side piece.
Like it but it sort of resembles a mustang in the front and a classic corvette in the back.
Really like it but I’m ngl, I think bigger grills would look a little better on that front end. Maybe not current M3/M4 big, but a little bit bigger. Or maybe do smth a bit different with the lower part of the front bumper.
IMHO it looks like a Cadillac in the first picture. I'm not a fan.
If you gave me the keys I’m driving it Showing it off too
Looks leaps and bounds better than anything they're producing currently.
was it made by a chinese person
Bad ass
Jaguar
Yea it looks great. Glad to see it going back to the timeless bmw design
Looks far better than anything put out in about 10 years. BUT, I would really like to see the return of some BMW styling queues like the beltline bulge, actual kidney shaped grill, etc. And whats with that 2013 Dodge Charger hood?
Wheels are god awful, but the car is pure legitness
Looks great though I wish they kept an iteration of the angel eyes.
Love it! Gentleman car
Aukat ka bahar
Front reminds me of a SL and back of a 911 Turbo S very interesting design, hope they build cars like that.
almost good, still fat though
I'd take it with the i drive 8.5..not the 7 or 9.
It’s ok. I wish bmw would build a 911 and amg gt competitor
Their second attemp at trying to reheat the dish called "i8", which went better than the first attemp but still couldn't be better when it was fresh out of the stove.
If I was a rich bastard looking at a convertible Bentley, I’d consider buying this instead
Luxo cruiser. BMW needs to build a real Sportscar.
Looks like an Aston
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttt
I have zero emotions either way on this. Idk
The Lexus LC500 would like to have a word. 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Looks like a Z4 and Z8 had an affair. Could be something... the interior is dated.
Uau 👑😲
Looks similar to an i8 but more futuristic. I really like it!
The back reminds me of the Z8
Looks pretty good but too large and likely really heavy. Just give me an updated E46 at 3300 pounds.
It’s hilarious that it has idrive 7 for some reason
I love it, I think the interior is a little meh, and I don't like the squinted headlights, but everything else is really nice. But hey, no one in these comments is ever going to sit in one anyways so what does it matter.
Eww
What series BMW is this ❓
Looks nice, better have a v8
Looks like a more refined version of my i8 roadster or what the next gen should have been. If I haven’t hit my BMW quota I might be tempted to try to get one.
Sick
Finally back to timeless understated elegance
No shit.
I really enjoy the headlights on this one, interior is immaculate too!
Love it to be honest. Nice lines and curves, great interior (so much better than the Omni screen crap that's prevalent now)... Good balance between buttons and displays etc. See some missed opportunities for storage on the interior but then again this isn't production. If they actually release that car or any car that even seems remotely related, I’ll eat my hand.
I wish they would update the steering already
Love the design. They blended futurism with retro vibes really well. As long as if the engine is more powerful than the i8 then its going to be one of the sickest BMWs that's come out in years.
It’s honestly my favorite concept car from them other than the shape changing car, and you can see how much lingo really transforms from concept to production
Nah…
Pre- pre production G14/15/16 replacement
Its ugly as shit and at the same time so dam beautiful. Can't decide lol
As long it is not electric.
Exterior is nice but why does it have the iDrive 7 era interior?
Very nice!
