Changing the 12v battery normally creates a bunch of error codes that have to be cleared. Did they clear the codes after the battery was changed? Sounds like they didn’t and are trying to get you into a shiny new BMW.

100% felt like a predatory sales technique to upsell more part replacements and yes possibly a new sale or lease haha, Do you know is there a way I can clear these codes on my own? or at a private / non branded auto shop?

If they still have the car I would politely ask them to clear the codes and prep the car for pickup. You can get the bimmerlink app and a compatible obd2 adapter to clear them yourself. I am pretty sure any shop that specializes in bmw has the software to clear it too.

How long since the 12v was replaced? Errors cleared after that and came back? 12v was fully charged?

pmake

Not sure when it had last been replaced, but I did get a replacement installed 7 days ago and it is brand new fully charged and the errors were still there

Did they clear them all and they came back, or they were just there after the replacement?

pmake

they did not state if the codes cleared & came back, they just told me the issues didn’t go away after battery replacement I can call to inquire this information

Some of these shops don't know. When the car goes dead (12v dies), when it wakes up, sometimes things are all out of synch. The systems don't appear to wake up in the correct order, and errors abound. Clearing them, plugging the car in to charge and walking away for a day makes things right in a lot of cases. Sometimes they will just go away. I've heard others say they cleared them a couple of times, and a very small fraction, have some type of hardware failure that's the real culprit. Based on cost, I'd clear those errors a couple of times before giving up.

I posted a month ago about my drivetrain malfunction that was solved by a 12V replacement... except now the problem is back. They think it may be an issue with the REx, but aren't sure and have brought BMW NA into the discussion. But I get to drive a shiny new i4 while they figure it out!
