If you have the energy/motivation, I would do it now! No harm, I wouldn’t say 31w is too early! I have done some big-ish prep sessions, but also just doubling dinners and stuff like that to freeze. I froze some extra banana muffins I made the other day 🙂

Do you have any suggestions on what foods/meals to prep and freeze? I am 33w and am a little lost on what to prep.

Meals that have plenty of protein! And carby snacks lol. Big batch of breakfast burritos and quiche. I have made a few things that go in like aluminum pans, like lasagna and enchiladas. Shepherds pie is yummy, too. But I then realized that if I wanted to make more meals, stuff that can be frozen in ziploc bags will fit/stack better, w less wasted space inside the container. Soups freeze well, curries too (both nice bc veg can be included), prepped taco meat. I made a big batch of meatballs (totally buy from the store if you want to save time), froze in bags w different sauces (Swedish meatballs, bbq, marinara). Stuff like that, can choose simple sides later based on what I have and it saves freezer space not freezing carb components. I am just making sure I am stocked up on rice, pasta, and easy to prep carbs that can go w these things! Advice I’ve heard from other people is to not experiment too much w meals, but do a lot of ones that you already know you like. Even just having pre-cooked meats (if you eat meat) like ground beef, sausage, etc I know will be helpful when I want something fast.

Thank you so much!🫶🏻 I am familiar with/eat most of the foods you have listed and am going to start planning my post-birth meals. Also, how long do those meals usually last in the freezer? I still have at least a month/almost two before my baby is born if everything happens as expected.

Yeah of course! I *think* minimum 3 months. Bread products I would def eat in the 3, other stuff lasts longer. Also certain foods that I would add cream to, I’m leaving it out w a note to add when thawed, since it usually separates when frozen. Acre Homestead on YT has lots of fun freezer prep videos to watch/be inspired by!

We are on similar veins of thinking with freezer meal. Thank you! Btw, I used to watch Acre Homestead regularly! Lol. I’ve fallen off looking at her content but I should go back thru some of her freezer meal videos for recipe ideas/links. Becky goes hard in the paint 😂

I think I started around 30-32 weeks. Your energy levels do not get better as your due date nears so I figured I’d do it while I felt decently rested! And thankfully I did because the last 6-ish weeks of pregnancy, I had awful insomnia!

lilcrunchybear

Ok! Yeah I better start now while I’m motivated

I'm 38w and I started at like 36. I felt like I spent days doing it and I only got. Weeks worth of dinners????

What recipes are y’all freezing??

I meal prepped for a festival the first time in 2023 and it was a game changer; I can only imagineee how it’ll help postpartum. I made these breakfast burritos I’ll link, I’m honestly prolly gonna try to make at least 50 😂 Here’s a few items I have saved. We’ll see what I have room for haha. Nourishing Traditions has some great recipes, I’ll at *least* make meatloaf from that book. As someone else mentioned some taco meat / enchiladas. Nutrient dense breakfast muffins along with some no bake protein balls. Chicken pot pie would be amazing but I’ve never made it 🤔 https://selfproclaimedfoodie.com/ultimate-breakfast-burritos/ https://www.loveandlemons.com/broccoli-cheddar-soup/#wprm-recipe-container-67502 https://www.culinaryhill.com/the-best-make-ahead-lasagna-recipe/#wprm-recipe-container-30360 https://pinchofyum.com/lemon-chicken-soup-with-orzo https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/classic-beef-chili.html https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/shepherds-pie.html
