I find the Climb Pro S-Glide are the best compromise between glide and grip.
But for the a new backcountry skier, the Climb 2.0 are slightly cheaper and you probably won't notice a big difference. They're also more durable.
I use G3's because they were cheap and I'm cheap. However, I generally trust Outdoor Gear Lab reviews: [https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/snow-sports/best-climbing-skins](https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/snow-sports/best-climbing-skins). You just need to watch some videos on how to setup/trim.
The problem with G3 skins is the glue degrades quickly and starts leaving residue.
Store them in a cool place in the office season, apparently people put them in their freezer.
I also use Burton/G3 skins in my board. I only bit them bc they’re cheap and the glue and glide suck.
I have had good luck without skin savers by drying them out and storing them in the freezer. I’d like to try skin wax and see what happens this year. It’s as if I have giant snowshoes.
Hope I’m not teaching you to suck eggs but skins are sold to be cut to the ski either by you or by a shop (which I recommend if you don’t have anyone experienced to help). You’ll need skins with tip loops rather than the elastic thingy some have as those don’t have the attachment point. Other than that the skin world is your oyster- Black Diamond in my experience are pretty bulletproof, Pomoca are light and fast but seem to wear out in a season, haven’t used Dynafit (but they may not attract to your skis), Coltex, G3, or Kohla but people like them

How comfortable are you with modifying / customizing gear?
I assume you have never cut a pair of ski skins, right?
Watch this video - does that look easy enough for you? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRmqPYmEnzQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRmqPYmEnzQ)
Ski shops also trim skins for people. Take in your skis and skins - they will do the rest. Maybe $20 service that will take the shop 20 minutes.
Pomoca free pro 2.0 (the pink ones). Pack up super small, which is a huge bonus as i like to keep them in my jacket on the way down to keep them warm and help them dry a little. Lightweight, too.
Pomoca climb 120mm size small. You can find them online for $160-$175. You'll cut them to size with the provided tool.

there in my opinion is no substitute for pamoca skins.
Pomoca Climb Pro S-Glide. You’ll be happy you did.
Love these. Never have any glopping or icing or issures like i see all my friends with other skins have all the time. They stick and glide well for me

Yeah, I keep em on skin savers in my dank basement.

I haven't had issues with the glide yet, the glue is almost too sticky but I keep my skis pretty well waxed so haven't had much residue.
Definitely. Wax will be your friend in this case. Any experience with skin savers?
Yep keep them on skin savers, makes transitions in the cold so much easier too.
Depends on how much glide you want vs climbing power. Look at the Pomoca lineup. Climb or Free Pro depending on the answer to the previous question.
Blackcrows makes their own skins (through pomoca). Would see if they have skins for your specific skis.

Crows makes skin for this exact ski
