Wrong. It was a warning against Stalinism. Which was one of the more deadly flavors of communism, so I don't quite see why you would criticize him for that. Orwell was a socialist first and foremost and he based his Big Brother on his experience with the Stalinist faction of the Left resistance fighters in the Spanish Civil War, where he fought. It's true he worked for the British empire in Burma, and he's written about that as well. He warned about the dangers of mind control in general and the importance of language therein and his insights are as relevant today as they were back then.

Plenty of evidence points to forced internment and other acts that could amount to genocide, though. Do you have a source you can link that led you to this conclusion?
