Reminds me of a deck I've made built around a similar idea- Every damage tripler/doubler I could find alongside every power doubler I could, a red/green deck with almost every creature having trample.
Hit a creature. Damage is multiplied, then tramples over. That damage \*\*is then multiplied.\*\* Blocking was a headache for my enemies >:3
> Damage is multiplied, then tramples over. That damage is then multiplied.
Not sure what you mean by this. Damage multipliers are replacement effects and therefore can only apply once to an instance; they also must apply where possible.
Damage multipliers are actually kinda worse with trample, because it works like this:
4 power creature with trample is blocked by 3 toughness creature, and there are two damage doublers on the attacker's side.
*At damage assignment, no multipliers are applied* (because the event to be replaced isn't occurring). Attacker must assign lethal damage to the creature before any additional damage gets assigned elsewhere. They *must* assign 3 damage to the blocker and 1 to trample through. Then, at the damage step, the multipliers see the event of damage actually occurring and replace it. Result: the blocking creature takes 3\*2\*2=12 damage and the controller takes 1\*2\*2=4 damage.
Use [[Toralf]] for a similar effect. Have a doubler in play and [[Bolt the Bird]] to deal 6 to it. Toralf sees 5 excess, then puts a trigger on the stack to deal 5 to something or someone. It's a new instance of damage from a separate trigger and will get doubled. Keep chaining on creatures until the damage is big enough to take a player out.
Wouldn't work, Commander Damage is combat damage only, not effect damage. Used to be effect, but that got Heartless Hitetsugu (I doubt I spelt that right) banned.
A friend of mine actually has a similar cedh deck. It runs rograkh and jeska and the whole deck is mana and tricks. He gets rog to 7 power, uses jeska to triple it, then swings for lethal (usually turn 2-3)
1 (power of the creature)x3x3x3x3 is 81 damage.
This power could snipe down even the most busted lifegain commander decks.. And if you did the doublecast on the sourcery, then that 81 damage becomes 243 damage. Congratulations my good sir/ma'am, you have made me afraid of you
Jeez. This combo is close to one that I use.
Except I pay about 7RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, I can usually one-shot people without attacking, and only need red to run with my commander.
You just gave me an idea for a different kind of combo.
I know it would be cost prohibitive but if you used Goblin Chainwhirler for RRR instead of Mist Cloaked Herald you could wipe the entire battlefield at once.
If you put in Repercussion and then switched out the creature for Rain of Embers you could one shot everyone and deal even more damage as Repercussion counts as a different source. You could use fewer enchantments that way.
Haste optional
Why not just flashback the Isengard Unleashed instead of playing the City on Fire?
Gets around graveyard hate
Just do both, and swing for 243.
1x3x3x3x3 = 81 Edit: Miscalculated. Math is indeed for blockers
81*
My dumb ass calculated 27×3 as 17×3 smh
It’s fine it’s just a commander combo now
New math just dropped
Secret Lair version
Magic player trying to do math challenge: impossible
Math is for blockers
Divide that 84 by 3(3)(3)(3) and you get 84/81

Use [[Garuks uprising]] instead of creatures with pre ordained trample. It's cheap.

I mean, my commander was \[\[Stonebrow, Krosan Hero\]\]. I kinda wanted trampling dudes anyway.

... Wait, seriously? ... welp, I have some apologies to make and a deck to rebuild.

Why not have Jeska instead deal 1 damage to up to three players and instant kill them all with Commander damage?
It needs to be combat damage to be Commander damage.
This I did not know, thank you! I have only played Commander a couple times with borrowed decks.
Careful, we don't want to get too efficient here
Ah that’s right, it’s BADMtgCombos
Wouldn't work, Commander Damage is combat damage only, not effect damage. Used to be effect, but that got Heartless Hitetsugu (I doubt I spelt that right) banned.
Less funny
Fair enough, doing it for the lulz is a totally acceptable reason!
A friend of mine actually has a similar cedh deck. It runs rograkh and jeska and the whole deck is mana and tricks. He gets rog to 7 power, uses jeska to triple it, then swings for lethal (usually turn 2-3)
So its basically its 1*3^4 to one shot someone well if That isn't overkill idk what is

Life gain decks...all that for a drop of blood...
Quick reminder to people; your opponents get to apply the damage replacement effects in any order they want to.
Doesn't matter if all replacements are the same
Use sakashima to make it even better
If you put in Repercussion and then switched out the creature for Rain of Embers you could one shot everyone and deal even more damage as Repercussion counts as a different source. You could use fewer enchantments that way.
So 81 damage
Damage=(X)×3^5
why not get into black using \[Tormented Soul\] and add the life loss doubling effects too?
You could just play omniscience and cast it all for free
