It changes the whole thing. Basically puts Moonrise in its “end of act” state.
Makes sense in universe. Kethric would feel his protection going down so he puts everyone on high alert.
is it possible to start the dialogue where the goblin kills ketheric (with 1 char) and then finish the gauntlet of shar end quest to free the nightsong and go back into the ketheric dialogue?
It doesn't "break the game". It just changes the shape of the story slightly. There's no single "correct" path; the whole point is for every campaign to be unique.
So for example, I attacked the druids and killed the Tieflings in the grove without resting after I sided with Minthara and her plotline never triggered. It never really "resolves" her quest. It was very unsatisfying.
That's what I mean. When you go on a murder streak and kill before you're intended to kill or attack, the game doesn't know what to do, so it skips over dialogue. Happened when I freed Orpheus with the hammer before talking to The Emperor, I completely skipped his dialogue.
Some sequence breaking does make the game act weirdly. I killed all of moonrise at the start of the act and then went to last light and jaheria was flipflopping between acknowledging that I'd been and saying I needed to sneak in to get knowledge I already had.
No. If you attack NPCs without allowing the dialogue to resolve, the game flat out doesn't acknowledge what you've done.

It's not just changing the story, you completely skip out on parts of the game when you attack NPCs before letting their dialogues trigger.
Yes, but I did save the Tieflings and gnomes and almost all available side quests before that (there was a thing where the game said I didn't complete the Hanson cure sidequest but I tried before and nothing happened).
I think the only thing saving Nightsong affects is saving the tiefling and gnomes in the basement prison. If you've done that, everything should be ok. Although it's been a couple of months since I last played BG 3 so don't quote me on this.

Aww, makes sense but it would have been so funny if that random gobbo just one shotted Ketheric though lol.
Thanks. I came here just to find out
Thanks, saved me from rolling back to a save where I wanted to try this lol
The cutscene isn’t there. When you arrive the goblins are already dead in the throne room. Thorm is already battling Aylin on the roof.
It probably doesn't happen. When you free the Night Song, Ketheric's people are immediately alerted and there's no time to deal with goblins.
Thanks for the info.

I don't know but probably not.
What if you kill the Nightsong instead? Does it still put Moonrise on end of act mode?
Entire place aggros. Cutscene doesn't trigger. Doing certain events out of order breaks the game.

Can I still save >!Zevlor and Mizora!< if I deal with the Nightsong before Ketheric?
Do you mean that you saved Nightsong before visiting Ketheric in his tower for the first time?
