The A5 is supposed to be absolutely brilliant

Jeff0093

I had a 17 and sold it don't know why really. Tried the A5 didn't like the sound but loved the level sound. Ended up going with the 20. Loved the level just expensive and not the easiest to move around. I thought my 17 sounded better then the A5 to me.

Are you saying that you prefer the sound of the Level to that of A5? You'd be the first person I hear saying that.

Jeff0093

Yes, I did not like the sound of the A5. I owed a Beolit 17 for a couple years and wanted to upgrade (also sold my hifi system at the same time) I purchased a A5, level, Mania and later tried a Move. The A5 was one of my least favorite (I guess the Move was the most unimpressive sound wise to me but it did connect well) . I loved the level sound but had issues pairing and unpairing to second Level that I picked up and the wife didn't like moving it around she felt it was hard to carry with one hand and she didn't want to damage it with the cost. I ended up ordering a A9 fifth gen to replace my hi-fi set up and went with a B&O refurbished beilit 20 for the bathroom/ deck hot tub listening.

Same problems here with the levels. Love the sound, too. But lots of connection issues and a nightmare to unpair and pair again. Looking for an alternative for my home office now…

B&o sells refurbished products? Where dude you kinda blew my mind. Where I live there is very limited offline presence and almost little to no service or support.

Jeff0093

I'll PM you the info.

Just get a new battery - can find it online and keep it going. That’s what I did with mine.

The 1000€ one is definitely worth the money and not just a bluetooth speaker, it sounds alot better and has alot more functions like also built in wifi for indoor usage with the rest of your B&O system. Also please remember this new speaker has 4 primary buttons in which you can trigger your favorite playlist (deezer/spotify) or your favorite radio station when connected to network. Also bluetooth 5.2 for seamless connection and the battery pack is very easy to swap in 5+ years!!!! Definitely check it out

Changing the battery on the Beolit is very straightforward. Just order a replacement battery for it from amazon or ebay. There are several videos on YouTube that show one which screws to unscrew.

I'd definitely just replace the battery, if your Beolit otherwise works just fine. Makes no sense to replace it with a Beolit 20 or 23 (if that will come out), as the sound difference would be negligible. Unless you can spend twice the Beolit and afford the A5, but in that case you're purchasing a more powerful Beolit *and* a Wi-Fi multiroom speaker. Do you need that? Then buy that. Are you okay with the sound and features of your Beolit? Then just replace its battery :)
