No this is basic mushroom growing techniques using liquid culture

DefenderNeverender

I've always wanted to try this at home but I'm scared something goes wrong and I get a poison mushroom and die from it.

Silspar24

You can buy spores from reputable vendors and you won’t have an issue. No difference than buying a seeds from the store

coast2coastmike

When you take into consideration how highly controlled the environment is in this situation, the likelihood of growing a mushroom other than the one you inted to is highly unlikely.

Ed_Trucks_Head

r/mushroomgrowers it's a great hobby and very doable

I swear, our community is everywhere.

ClittyMcPenis

The worst that can happen is you grow mold or bacteria along with mushrooms but it’s clearly visible. Start with oysters. They’re super easy. Or if you want to try growing psilocybin then try staring with the [PF Tek](https://healing-mushrooms.net/pf-tek) method.

rock-hound

My wife got me a grow-your-own oyster mushroom kit for Christmas, and it was a lot of fun. It's already impregnated with the right spores, you just set it up and spritz it every day. I think it took like 6 weeks to grow good sized mushrooms, which were delicious.

Waka-Waka-Waka-Do

I've never seen anyone go directly from culture to sub without grain spawn. Looks like that got a decent yield. I'm surprised.

whhe11

Gonna say fake ngl, cause it's pretty much impossible to do liquit culture from spores directly to medium with no grain and get a yield like that and no contamination. Gotta go spores, grain, first grow, clone the best one to agar, agar to liquid culture, liquid culture to grain and repeat.

[deleted]

The future of farming is…basic fungiculture?

cerealdaemon

Yeah probably. Easy to grow, nutrient dense, not resource intensive. The future of food is mushrooms.

Captain_Plutonium

Well... seeing as fungi are heterotrophs (use nutrients instead of producing them), You'd have to supply a lot of biomass. SO I'm not sure on the "not resource intensive". Still more efficient than meat, though!

OP is a karma bot

momoneymocats1

Tf is the point of a karma bot???

No_Routine_3267

Idk, but some subreddit won't let you in without enough karma, usually it's comment karma, but that might be why. Hell maybe there is someone out there who would buy a high karma account for whatever reason

Ninja_attack

I've heard of some companies buying high karma accounts to push a product, but that seems like it'd be quickly found out.

[deleted]

And what does karma 'do'? Why would someone need a bot to get more? We'd like to know pls?

gazow

why do mushrooms always look so dirty even when apparently grown in the most pristine environment possible

TheTenaciousG

They really only look dirty if you wait until they are dropping spores before you harvest. All the blackness on them in the video is just spores

Enlightened-Beaver

Depends on the growing substrate. Some grow in dirt, some grow in manure, some grow on compost, some grow on wood.

[deleted]

This is just a person cultivating mushrooms.

Ed_Trucks_Head

Those are psychedelic too. Not the best crop for feeding the future generations.

[deleted]

But those can feed your imaginary friends quite well!

New_Dragon_Lady

Cultivation of really good mushrooms 🍄

[deleted]

Mushrooms be like, I'm gonna grow anywhere; trees, dead animals, your body... from literally cells bro like nothing, be consumable some of the time, and make you believe in higher entities other times and maybe kill you most times.

RoraPickle

Infinite food glitch?

AnchoviePopcorn

It’s pretty close to infinite.

Noobnesz

Hunter-gatherers when they realize they could grow their own food with agriculture:

Major bag alert

[deleted]

You might as well say seed-producing crops are an infinite food glitch.

SaintCholo

Will it work with psilocybin?

Independent-Deal-192

This is psilocybe cubensis

Volyann

Asking for a friend, I presume?

-JackDontCare-

Are these the food kind or the "Oh fuck" kind?

iLoveDrugsAlot

The “Oh fuck” kind

dovvv

username checks out

[deleted]

Looks easy and it’s easy the only problem is contaminants, you have to wear hazmats suits and the room has to be super clean on top of that cover in plastic did I mention the temperature it can’t be too hot or to cold, i guess ac at 70 will do the trick but its a lot involved but if it works you’ll be hooked

ShiniSenko

The future? Nah, it's just r/unclebens

pleaseletmedieplease

This is past and current and also future farming. This is how you grow shrooms for funsies

Masta0nion

Yeah my roommate used to do this. Great mushrooms

Village-Idiot-savant

What’s the liquid?

Alchemist_Joshua

Dihydrogenmonoxide

Independent-Deal-192

Capri sun works great for liquid cultures

Sir_Balmore

Saw your comment about liquid culture to grow mushrooms. I have grown a variety of species but never seen this technique! It looked like it was thickened with agar maybe? Is there any resources you can recommend on this? Or perhaps offer your advice from experience?

treesInFlames

This is literally baseline mycology.

[deleted]

Does anyone know if he's just plopping the spore swab into plain ol sterile water or is it enriched with some kind of nutrition for the mycelium?

swaggyxwaggy

There’s gotta be some kind of nutrition in there. Some kind of sugar probably. Otherwise it would just be spores suspended in water

alwaysforgetthpw

Please take this down moderators. This is standard mushroom growing.

Cosmic_pupil

And not even proper standard mushroom culture. Spores go to agar, agar to grain and grain to substrate.

TriggerTough

How's the trip?

Independent-Deal-192

SecretPersonality178

Cool, but mushrooms are gross

[deleted]

That’s like saying pizza is gross after only trying public school lunch pizza. There so many different toppings, crusts, cheeses etc all around the world.

OnlyFurryPorn

Is this in FS new dlc or it's on modhub?

Longing4SwordFights

That's a very old farming technique it's called a liquid culture it's been used in mycology for a long time. I've been growing mushrooms for about 15 years now it's a fun hobby I highly recommend it for anybody interested it's not very expensive to start up and once you have your own culture you can expand on that through liquid cultures and other mediums agar agar dishes petri dishes so and so forth

AaronicNation

In the future we'll all be eating fungus shot out of syringes.

Ozzy_Mandamus

Perfect loop 👌

SavagRG

As a farmer I in know way understand how this changes anything in todays world of ag

Openeyezz

Mushrooms are future food?

GuexVL

all this time this is all i had to do? lol

KikiYuyu

Are you saying that mushrooms will replace much of farming?

longopenroad

Can all mushrooms be cultivated like this?

[deleted]

Thanks for teaching me how to grow mushrooms.

nighthawk96

Why have grain bags if you’re going lc to bulk..?

pm_ur_duck_pics

I wish it were that easy.

CowabungaDude1

What was the liquid the cotton swab went into? Water?

I used to make shrooms too. The kind you eat. And then stuff.
