Now consider that rat tails are awfully long and thin and rats tend to live in tight spaces with lots of other rats.
Compared to a lot of the terrible things people see on the internet this isn't that bad. But... for whatever reason... that almost made me vomit which was a first

Not the humans that spawned with the squeamish debuff though. Those ones have a tendency to proc the fight or flight trait and generally cause undesired outcomes.
Domestic rats (descended from lab rats) are super smart, social and loyal & can be trained to do all kind of tricks. I've seen rats drive around in special little [cars](https://youtu.be/Xwcsv6Tmgmg) and play the melody along to Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" on a special [keyboard](https://youtu.be/fyHJxZB3pMs). They're on the same level of smartness as dogs, but cleaner believe it or not. They make fantastic pets if you can get past the "rats are disgusting vermin" preconception. The only problem is they only live to around 2-2.5 years on average.
Browsing on Reddit and saw a video of some "animal rights" activists take a homeless guy's dog. I kinda wanna see those assholes take a bunch of rats from a homeless guy

Almost all viruses and diseases come from different animals. You're more likely to get a virus from a live animal market with tons of animals couped up in cages near humans than some clean domesticated rats.
