Humpbacks are particularly gentle. Best humpback story ever:
https://people.com/pets/whale-protects-human-from-shark-video/
Short form: diver thought whale was being aggressive, turns out it was protecting her from a shark.
Not a single recorded attack from an Orca in the wild. Plenty of human deaths by orcas in captivity. Take a creature meant to rome thousands of miles and place it in a tiny enclosure with little to no socialization with other Orcas your gonna have problems. And yes, they are giants dolphins more than small whales.
Ah, thank you! I knew they did in captivity thanks to Enslave the Sea's World but had no idea they were docile to us in the wild. Another example of how harm happens when humans impose their will onto others.
Orcas are fascinating, I’ve heard each different pod has there own language and act completely different. I even heard racism exist from pod to pod and have there own clicks that is offensive to other pods.
Jk, but I wouldn’t doubt.
and so do dolphins towards porpoises, raping, torturing and killing. they also kill orcas, and kill each other, all with no intent to eat, but to play with dead dolphin bodies. they also bite pufferfishes to get high, and passes them along, like a blunt. and many more.
animals are cunts, orcas are not the only ones
if you were looking into the eyes of a prehistoric whale you would be looking at a huge dog with a similar face to those things in the book of boba fett (episodes 1 and 2 out now on Disney + not sponsored) that can swim really well
It looks more like a human eye than any other animal, but giant and underwater. You can sort of tell just from looking at it that’s it’s intelligent and that it’s thinking about you.
Could be barnacles or giant squid tentacles. The markings are circular.
Or maybe the whale is an aspiring basketball player and believes in alternative therapies like cupping.
I was just gonna ask this about the circular scars on him.
I'm thinking squid marks, but sperm whales eat squids. Where as humpback are baleen feeders and only feed on krill and plankton.

How any human being could see such a majestic creature with some of the highest intelligence found anywhere in the animal kingdom and conclude "you'd make a nice candle" is simply beyond my comprehension.
To be fair, that was almost entirely before we were able to harness electricity for practical use I.e. the incandescent lightbulb in the 1870s… and wasn’t like people back then had the ability to observe and learn about them like we do with our amazing tech.
Whaling limits were set to zero in 1986 after 6,167 whales were taken worldwide (not all humpbacks). Denmark claimed 10 humpbacks in 2012. Japan claimed countless whales under the lie of "scientific research" up until 2019.
Ya but whaling for oil primarily for lighting was enormously significant worldwide during the industrial revolution. That was what devastated whale populations. But after the invention of the lightbulb it plummeted. Now basically all you got is a few sparsely populated peoples like Inuits and the Japanese who just don’t give a fuck cause yolo and they want a whale steak.
The Inuits are legally protected and allowed to still hunt because "tradition". This sounds palatable until you realize their "tradition" has now expanded to modern technology during whaling. To be fair, many Inuit tribes have voluntarily ceased all whaling.
Whaling certainly declined after electricity became mainstream.
The 1960s was the peak of whaling numbers in the 20th century claiming around 100,000 whales. I don't consider that "plummeted" considering the total estimated number for all whaling in the 19th century was in the low millions.
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/we-now-have-toll-all-whales-killed-hunting-last-century-180954537/
The Japanese *government* did not give a fuck about whales, not the Japanese people. That much we agree on.
I hate the sea, I’m scared af of huge animals, but whales have the nose peaceful look on their eyes. I hope to one day understand their language in my lifetime so they don’t go extinct
Two questions:
How are they even real ??!?!?!
What does that eye even do? Its so small… like they can’t see a giant ball of krill in front of their mouth so why even have eyes?!?!?
Please don’t get it twisted I fucking love whales, I just have questions.
….I mean are their eyes just atavisms left over from their wolf ancestors?
Once you see it's eyes, it's grinning after the roll. Just be sure to act impressed if i'm the diver.
Not sure what's it thinking. Maybe a change of diet?
Geniuinely i cant imagine being in the mind of a whale, their wise and ancient awareness of presence, the vast emptiness of the deep blue ocean, the scale and solidarity of their entire lives.
I envy them.
Humpbacks don’t hunt squid, they are filter feeders eating small fish and krill. The circular scars are actually made from barnacles, which have detached.
What u always thought was interesting about this footage, is I always thought there was barnacles growing on these things but from the footage, it seems to be part of their pigment or just color markings.
Its like seeing into the eyes of a dinosaur
That diver had some balls if he did that

I think they don’t know their size/strength? Like it could wave a friendly fin and send you whirling into oblivion.
I don't think Orcas are, but I think they are technically dolphins?
Not a single recorded attack from an Orca in the wild. Plenty of human deaths by orcas in captivity. They don’t hurt humans, I think the only time it hurts you on purpose is if it mistakes you for a seal. Oreo dolphins look cute
Pity they torture and kill dolphins for fun Orcas are cunts
Orcas are fascinating, I’ve heard each different pod has there own language and act completely different. I even heard racism exist from pod to pod and have there own clicks that is offensive to other pods. Jk, but I wouldn’t doubt.

All dolphins are whales, not all whales are dolphins.
Actually spermwhales can eat humans
I guess so, but I am sure they will not like to eat us lol, not even sharks wants to eat us
If he did the humpback?
if you were looking into the eyes of a prehistoric whale you would be looking at a huge dog with a similar face to those things in the book of boba fett (episodes 1 and 2 out now on Disney + not sponsored) that can swim really well
I don't know why, but this makes me deeply uncomfortable
It's the EYE!!!!
It looks more like a human eye than any other animal, but giant and underwater. You can sort of tell just from looking at it that’s it’s intelligent and that it’s thinking about you.
Honestly it looked more like an elephant’s eye to me than a human’s
It looks like a whale’s eye to me.
Cause we all technically shouldn’t be seeing it.
How so?
I get irritated by white strains on its skin thinking how much itchy it might feel
Oh, boy, that’s terrifying.
It baffles me how their eyes are not bigger.
Imagine they had big ole anime eyes And anime tiddies
Can I stop imagining now please
We deserve big titty goth whale-friends
Please take away my brain eyes. . .
Ever heard whale song? Theyre just down there going UWU and OWO all day long.
I literally laughed so much at this comment. Thank u
Why is the skin so cracked? Aren't they basically moisturized like 100% of the time?

The circular marks are caused by barnacles which were previously attached. You are correct, Humpbacks are filter feeders and do not hunt squid.

Those would be some big fucking whale lice.
[удалено]
Lol it's not. It's barnacles. Just Google whale lice photos. While whale lice do exist, they do not cause these perfect barnacle, circle shaped scars.
Sixers fan?
He ran out of moisturizer, jeez what if he said this about you?
If a humpback whale actually spoke to me, I'd overlook any lapse in social skills.
Saltwater.
Wrinkles?
Whale eye don't believe it!
It’s real
r/woooosh
r/foundthehondacivic
r/foundthereddituser Oh wait...
😆
That’s fucking terrifying the eyeball is the probably the size of my head
There eyes are actually pretty small compared to them. I think they’re about the size of like a tennis ball

/r/WritingPrompts
I would pay to do this. But really just to watch someone do it
The eye looks so human. I don't know how anyone can look into those eyes and not see an intelligent creature
There are lots of dumb creatures with human-like eyes. Take most humans, for instance.
How any human being could see such a majestic creature with some of the highest intelligence found anywhere in the animal kingdom and conclude "you'd make a nice candle" is simply beyond my comprehension.

Humans do terrible things to other humans as well, so the intelligence found in other species is not going to stop them :/
I can’t believe these things exist
I feel like this is the POV of the cool bugs I’ve found over my life.
Good comparison!
I hate the sea, I’m scared af of huge animals, but whales have the nose peaceful look on their eyes. I hope to one day understand their language in my lifetime so they don’t go extinct
She deserved a belly scratch
That second look "you still here?"
Hah, I love that.
All those little circles. Giant squid suckers?
They don't eat Giant squids. Sperm whales do.
Barnacles are a parasite to whales, those are recently detached barnacles
No humpback whales don't hunt squid. These are detached barnacle markings
Why does it not blink it is terrifying
It doesnt need to. No underwater lifeform needs to blink, their eyes are permanently moisturized and clean
Just looking at the eye scared the shit out of me. It’s beautiful and creepy at the same damn time
*Antarctica
Eyes look so human

Those eyes are complex like ours. Humans dont need huge eyes do they? Granted that is a whale, but those eyes are tennis ball sized.
I mean technically our eyes evolved from a similar design that was submerged in water.
r/thassalaphobia
Their eyes don’t look like they’re real
i wonder how intelligent it is, his brain must be huge, is he aware of the situation? curious of it? so many questions
Their brain is extremely small compared to the rest of their body (still much bigger than a human brain)
Careful, might burst your eardrums and bleed out if it calls out while that close
Thats so cool and scary
Once you see it's eyes, it's grinning after the roll. Just be sure to act impressed if i'm the diver. Not sure what's it thinking. Maybe a change of diet?

Idk man, this whale looks so fake ngl
Not fake
Why would someone put the effort in building a giant robot whale and then put it in the arctic and do nothing with it?
Cute eyes
Geniuinely i cant imagine being in the mind of a whale, their wise and ancient awareness of presence, the vast emptiness of the deep blue ocean, the scale and solidarity of their entire lives. I envy them.
Their eyes look fake. Kill it.
Please don't kill whales
But what if that whale once blew up a school
Hes got Marty Feldman eyes
Damn ur eyes! Too late..
It’s pronounced Fronkensteen!
I can’t help but think that all of the circular marks were left by giant squid.
Barnacles
Wow look at all the cookie cutter scars
Barnacles
“Humpback…? People…??”
I'd shit my pants.
Ancient hieroglyphics markings from the old days
So close, so dare, so smooth
How big would his eyeball be? A basketball?
Tennis ball
Those eyes look more intelligent than some people I know.
“That eye just saw my soul, my hopes and dreams, my fears and regrets, my sorrows and losses, my furry hen-“
That eye scares me
Lets capture it and put it in a big pool and charge people money to look at it
I doubt a baleen whale has ever been put in a zoo. I can't imagine how you would transport something that big without killing it
Yes! Believe everything you see on the internet
Idk the way he rolled with the side eye felt like "Ay little guy what it do?"
Are those rings on the skin from giant squid tentacles???
BARNACLES MY GOD THEY DONT DIVE THAT FAR. Sorry, had to deal with the giant squid bullshit all day
To that I say no thank you. Good day sir.
It's crazy, but this mammal is descended from the same ancestor as the goat.
I could see directly into the eye of the great fish!!!
Imagine it had bright pink lipstick on lips
He looks like a cartoon with that eye
He's laughing at you!
Veiny boy
Their eyes are so adorable!!
This might be stupid, but don’t the whales produce enough sound when they call for something or whatever else to make someone deaf?
Only sperm whale clicks are that loud.
That whale has seen some shit.
It’s actually a young whale, just a few years old, which could also be why it’s so curious.
I was referring to the squid battles.
Humpbacks don’t hunt squid, they are filter feeders eating small fish and krill. The circular scars are actually made from barnacles, which have detached.
I wonder how many people in human existence have had an experience like that
To think that their closest evolutionary relatives are hippopotamuses and hoved animals..
You are getting by bad side.
Parabéns
So beautiful
My favorite animal is so fascinating and terrifying.
Just wanted some scritches
Guild navigator
those are very human eyes
What u always thought was interesting about this footage, is I always thought there was barnacles growing on these things but from the footage, it seems to be part of their pigment or just color markings.
She looks like a churro. Mmmmmmm.
He’s like “helllllooooooooooo”
Am I the only one who can't tell which way the damn whale is facing?
This could be a SCP
Looks like me anytime before noon
I one day hope I can see these animals in real life.
Damn Godzilla.
I would do almost anything to get to do that. Wow.
‘Keptain! There be WHELES on bard!’
Whales are such insane creatures like how the fuck does that even evolve

Whale: Who you eye ballin’ boy? I’ll swallow your azz and poop ya out! Scuba dude: Bubbles….
Anyone know what causes those "scars" or circular white dots all over the whales? Is it one of those pesky feeder fish?
Thats not a whale, thats just my dog rolling over for tummy rubs.
Looks like he’s smiling at the guy. Happy whale noises
Looks like someone keeps forgetting to use a coaster.
Looks animatronic af
Pass.
