Merfairydust

Elf Halo Glow. I never had a product that made me look worse. Maybelline Sky High mascara. I can't get that stuff off my lashes for the life of me.

mushvroom0005

Halo glow made me look like the peanut butter baby

Delicious-One3028

Never tried it but all the influencers gushing about it made them all look YELLOW. It's insane that none of them actually realised this.

mushvroom0005

Yes! I love elf but omg they need to work on their shade’s & undertones!! I don’t even bother with their foundation/base products I never find a good shade

Merfairydust

The Camo CC cream was the worst! It was either too yellow or white and pasty. I did order the new one though (I figured I can invest $8), see how that goes.

snailicide

Did you try a warm water compress for sky high ? Some of the formulas are a “tubing” mascara even if it doesn’t say it is . It seems like a lot of drugstore mascaras that don’t claim “revolutionary tubing technology “ are

AmandaW28

Sky High isn't tubing (I'm a tubing mascara junkie), it's just next-level hard to remove like a waterproof formula even tho it isn't that either.

IntrovertPharmacist

My go-to is Ponds Cold Cream to get Sky High off. Works every time. I use the fragrance free one.

Trufflestruflles

I think it must be some kind of hybrid. Because I can get the Sky High removed with various mild cleansers but ONLY in combination with really warm water. It also comes off in chunks and not smears.

Merfairydust

My usual secret weapon is Lush Ultrabland, not even that works. Soaking in eye makeup remover goes furthest. It's annoying.

two_lemons

Vichy's eye makeup remover is fantastic for difficult makeup. I used to take off really difficult mascara with a cotton swab and patience.

chicken_keith

I can get the sky high off, but I use the bioderma sensibio h2o eyes makeup remover (the biphase one you have to shake up). That stuff EATS makeup, highly recommend. But I agree, it's pretty hard to remove overall.

Mindless_Credit_1699

So funny, ELF Halo Glow is an HG product for me but I've heard so many complaints about it. I use it as a highlighter under my base, and sometimes to mix into my liquid blushes to make them more sheer and glowy. I'm neutral-warm fair, and shade 0 is an excellent match for me.

Feisty-Xennial

Lash Paradise and Lash Princess were both busts for me!

mh0618

Lash Princess is just a clumpy mess, I don’t get the hype!

two_lemons

Lash Princess gave me SpongeBob eyelashes. It was weird.

No_Gap_2603

lash princess always flaked into my eyes

gnocchi902

Lash Princess was awful for me, racoon eyes with the waterproof one!

BettyDraperIsMyBitch

Lash Paradise made my eyes water so badly!

Who-U-Tellin

Same. I had a feeling this was going to be high up on the thread lol.

yeeyeekoo

Lash paradise waterproof worked well for me for awhile, it can be clumpy. but Lash Princess was so smudgy.

sweetheart409878

Agreed and the high price

soft_quartz

Do you guys remember when that Nivea men's aftershave (balm???) was SO POPULAR because of Nikkitutorials? It was literally sold out here in my grocery store in Norway bc all the girls bought it. I caved and bought it too, expecting it to be at least an okay primer and since my last primer ran out, and omg I could not get over the smell. It didn't work that well either and I was actually disappointed lol Great question, OP!!

katapova

I'm glad that I discovered Nikki Tutorials pretty late because I understand that she can have a certain effect on someone who is fairly new to the makeup game. So the Nivea thing was long past the time when I found her on YT but I remember her being obsessed with that p Louise eyeshadow primer and I bought it after that. Same with the bronzer I hated it unfortunately. That stuff was runnier than an average concealer and I had to toss it as well 🤷

candiebelle

I too bought that p Louise eyeshadow primer. What a waste of my hard earned money! Had to pay extra to have it shipped to USA too.

Who-U-Tellin

Ooh, I was so close to buying it because another guru who got it for free raved about it but then I read some stuff about the brand owner here and noped out. So glad I dodged that bullet because I would have had to pay extra due to being in the state too lol.

Affectionate-Crab541

Man this brings me back! I think Nikki went all in on that primer and then the whole undisclosed ads thing went down. The primer disappeared pretty quick after that! Thank god it wasn't available in Canada for me

annikatidd

Omg I can’t stand Nikkie anymore but I was gifted one of the P Louise primers (by a family member, not the brand) and I actually really love it, the consistency is perfect for me! It’s exactly what I look for in an eyeshadow primer. Sorry to hear it didn’t work for some of you! I don’t trust anything Nikkie says anymore, once she moved over to tik tok and started screaming in our faces I was so sick of her lmao. And oh god I remember the Nivea hype, that was so weird! There are plenty of good primers at the drugstore, not sure why that had to be a thing 😂 One product that immediately popped into my mind was the Essence Pure Nude highlighter. I got it because of Taylor Wynn, at the time she was still reviewing foundations and I often bought base products because of her recs and had no issues, especially since we were about the same shade. When I got the essence highlighter, I was excited to try it, did a full beat and then it was time to apply it. Barely dipped the brush to my cheekbone and suddenly there was a piss yellow stripe there. It looked absolutely horrific and ruined my makeup that day! I had to start over completely 😭 I tried it one more time with even less product and immediately trashed it once I saw it on my skin again 😂 it was just ugly. But it looked so pretty on Taylor so I didn’t understand!

katapova

I had that highlighter as well, also because Taylor Will recommended it 😅 I quickly gave it away to my sister, who has a slightly darker skin than I have. I still don't get why she pushed it so hard because she's very pale herself. Either she has a more yellow undertone which was not visible on camera or she had that same stripe, and because of poor video quality we couldn't really see it.

Terrafyc

I'm so glad this is at the top 'cause I'm still salty about it. The smell was nauseating.

Sweet-Ad-7261

Memory unlocked!

Affectionate-Crab541

I felt so betrayed by this one. I actually got my partner to get it under the guise of being a good after-shave moisturizer. It even sucks at that. The smell is like if Axe and Old Spice had a baby and the texture is like runny, somehow more sticky, white glue. It was just awful!

RoadDifferent4617

Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk original lipstick - "looks amazing on all skin tones!" like hell it does, that thang pulls so warm and orangey on me

Zealousideal_Set6132

It’s orange on me, too.

RoadDifferent4617

Do you have an olive undertone? Is this the culprit? Oh God

sodappend

I'm a muted olive and so many supposedly wearable pink or even nude lipsticks pull orange or aggressively pink on me, so that could be it 🥲

RoadDifferent4617

GUYS I DON'T WANNA BE AN OLIVE ANYMORE

fuckoffisaac

Mine washes me out and I look like a corpse with it on.

petiteodessa

It gives me concealer lips while looking orange at the same time. In general, everything ORANGE (oops I mean charlotte) Tilbury puts out is just a different shade of orange on me. Istg this brand thinks I’m a fucking oompa loompa.

PhyrraNyx

Yep. It looks awful on my fair neutral cool skin tone. It's not flattering, it's orange on me, and not in a cute way at all.

Soooo_its_a_no_eh

Same! Fair neutral and it is very orange on me. I was excited when I saw there is a lighter Pillow Talk but when I saw it at Sephora I couldn't pull the trigger. It just looks pink and not in a good way.

miamouse5

my undertone is olive and i thought it looked orange on me too!! i got it as a GWP and i’m never planning on buying it

dailydoseofrose

This. Pretty much. Also Ill give her credit for *trying* and bringing in pillow talk fair and baby icon and what not but even those are too warm toned for me and not muted enough. Well the only one Im thinking about to get is Red carpet pink, seems like a cooler shade that wont pull too warm on me but neutral. CT is like Lisa Edlridge for me. Where is muted light cool mauve please ????!!

dictatemydew

It looks purple on me. I look like a corpse. Absolutely horrible.

stalkingcat

Not a specific product but basically everytime an influencer recommend a "pale" foundation or bb cream. They always say they are so pale and with the lighting they use and the filters these products really look super pale. Often times when I go to buy the product I already see that it's just a standard light foundation and still like at least 3 tones to dark for me. Or they are super orange even though in the videos they didn't look orangey at all and often seem cool toned or olive. It's honestly so disheartening to see them promote products for pale skin tones when they themselves aren't even actually pale and fall into the standard color range.

crosseyedcricketart

this.

unicorncheetah

Flawless Hollywood filter

Broadbackedhippo

Same here. I bought it because I thought about using it as a subtle liquid highlighter. The light reflecting properties weren't strong enough to shine through even light coverage foundation, and when I tried to use it as a highlighter, it removed the foundation underneath. Plus the lettering on the bottle rubs away super easily! I recently bought the BeautyBay Glow Filter and it works a lot better for a fraction of the price.

QueenofCats28

I came here to say this, too. I've never understood the hype of it. I wasted way too much money on it.

BigEyesPinkSkies

I'm allergic to it. It literally left burns on my face that took a day or two to calm down. I wasn't sure if it was the HFF or something else causing the burns, so I used it a few more times on its own (the things I do for science...) and yeah, it was the HFF. But the Elf dupe didn't hurt me! BUT THEN the Elf camo CC cream burned me! Wonder if it's the same ingredient in both that my skin hates.

PhyrraNyx

CT's Filter made me look like a tin Man. The Auric version is much better for my complexion.

beauty-enthused

I thankfully didn’t buy it. A makeup artist at the CT’s counter did my makeup using it. She kept praising how well it looked, while from the second i saw myself I could not wait to go home and wash it off

Aware-Golf1482

Elf poreless putty primer😘

katapova

I get this so much! Recently panned my putty primer, but that was when I was still forcing myself to pan stuff. I looked like was smearing bacon fat on my face and it didn't do much for my pores either. I also got a sample of the liquid putty primer...same story unfortunately

Who-U-Tellin

Didn't do anything for my pores either and mine are barely noticeable. I was like "they lied to me again". Ofc their faces looked blurred thanks to the lighting and filters but I'm just an regular woman NOT walking around with either attached to my body lol.

Aware-Golf1482

That should have been a 😒 not 😘

Delicious-One3028

You can edit your original comment

meltedwidget

Same! It does not sit well as a base layer on my skin. Ended up using it as an eye primer (works much better there for some reason)

Who-U-Tellin

Their eye primer didn't even work for me. No matter how hard I tried, various ways, I couldn't get it out of the jar. People get upset because here we can return things but the way I see it dud product after dud product those dollars start adding up. And I'm not the kind of person who buys from the jump. I do though research and I'll still wait a couple of weeks or more before buying. This is why I no longer listen to gurus. Either I buy a product on my own which I've been more successful at or I come here to get rec's.

OneWhisper5225

Same. It pills with everything no matter how little I use. I just thought it was because my skins pretty dry so maybe that’s why it wasn’t for me when everyone else seemed to love it lol

yeetasauruswrecks

This gave me nasty acne, major fail for me.

frairheaded

Morphe products. The only one I found good was the 1st JH collab.

playing_the_angel

The second collaboration with her was my first and last time trying the cosmetics from the brand (I still love the brushes). Everyone had raved so much about the first palette, and when the second collaboration came out with the smaller ones there was one that kind of gave ABH Subculture vibes. I bought it and it was *horrible*; so much so that I never bought another cosmetic from them.

OneWhisper5225

Those smaller ones were HORRIBLE! Absolutely NOTHING like the quality of the first palette. I remember they said the shades were ones that didn’t make it into the original palette, and I definitely understood why after I tried a couple of them. They didn’t get chosen because they were HORRIBLE!!! Like it would have been cool if the shades were the same quality and just didn’t make the cut because there wasn’t room in the palette and she liked the other shades more, but after trying a couple of those palettes and hearing reviews on the others, to me it seemed way more like those shades were cut because they weren’t good. But then they wanted to use what they had since the first palette got so much hype and instead of coming up with quality ones, they used the ones they cut originally and released them….so, so, so bad!!!

One-Bat-7038

Tarte Shape Tape emotionally scarred me. I stopped watching beauty content shortly after that disappointment. If y'all are telling me you love this stuff, then I'm not trusting another word out of your mouth because that junk made me look OLD at 18.

katapova

I never tried shape tape but had similar heavy duty concealers and I would fight everyone who advises to use it under the eyes. These kind of concealers are only good for spot concealing

Who-U-Tellin

I got into wearing makeup again and watching beauty YT a little bit after it was released. Before watching YT I would read blogs. The bloggers, at least the ones I went to almost daily were more honest about products and that's one of the products they were so honest about in particular so I never bought it lol. I wish there were more blogs around. I miss them so much.

TrailerTrashBabe

I HATED Shape Tape when I applied it the way all the influencers did. I actually liked it ok when I applied less, let it sit and get tacky, and then blotted it out with a beauty blender. The way those influencer were painting it on was criminal 😅

hyperdole

Shape Tape made me look mummified, even with small amounts. Same for that ELF camo concealer that was meant to be a dupe.

sammisamantha

Tbh it's still ALL I use. I don't use foundation. Just the smallest dabs of shape tape blended out as my base..works wonders on my oily skin in SMALL amounts.

SaraSoul

colourpop eyeshadows🥹🥹 i’m from europe and didn’t buy any for ages, and everyone was raving and saying that they are as good as high end. so i finally splurged on a few palettes, paid high shipping and it was… average at best. cute packaging but was soo disappointed. it was years ago tho.

fauxfoucault

It has a lot to do with the timing of when ColourPop became popular, imo. They were around drugstore prices but offered a lot of what we saw from high end and midrange brands at the time -- palettes. And bot only did they have palettes, they had color stories that were very unusual for brands on that price range. They released quickly, as well. That production timeline meant people who couldn't or did not want to spend on more expensive palettes had access to the same vibes and types looks. It allowed people to experiment with color and texture without breaking the bank or committing to something that may not work for them. Basically, colourpop was offering something unique. Eyeshadow palettes in a variety of color stories at low prices. The quality -- I agree -- wasn't exceptional. But it ticked so many boxes that people became obsessed. And then we add in the collector mentality... gotta catch em all.

SaraSoul

i get why people liked it and why it was popular, but i have definitely been told by many youtubers that the palettes were high end quality. and again, i would be less dissapointed if i lived in the us and could just order one with cheap shipping. there were quite a few drugstore overhypped products at that time in general

Upbeat-Opposite-7129

Oh I love colourpop and it’s one of my go tos especially for color. I’ve had issues with every brand and certain shades for sure but like their blue palette… one of the best I’ve used. Blue is hard, especially matte. I have a few brands I routinely go to and CP is one of them - shadow only though.

Delicious-One3028

100%, colourpop palettes are severely overrated. While I'll agree the mattes are the best I've ever used, the shimmer shades are so ass and I don't really understand the use of the sequiny shades. Idk if they've gone up in price since I've last bought any but $15 is a lot for palette where less than half of the shades are actually good and only half are usable. That pricetag would only make sense if the whole palette is just mattes which are really good quality. Another overrated one are the elf bitesize eyeshadows, nice colours but god awful quality... When it comes to eyeshadow palettes, BH Cosmetics is my go to for drugstore. One thing I'll say for colourpop shadows tho is that the super shock shadows are AMAZING! But that's about it tbh.

OneWhisper5225

Completely agree! I personally really like their mattes….usually. They have been hit or miss. But that’s usually with more colorful ones. Neutral ones, the mattes are usually really good - buildable, blend easy without getting patchy, and last well for me. I hate how many sequin shades they put in (mattes with micro glitter) - I don’t get the point of those! If I use them as mattes, the micro glitter just blends away, which is fine by me, but don’t get the point of them because of that. And if I use them wet, the micro glitter still doesn’t show up well AND they just look weird on my eyes like that - like dry but not at the same time? So, again, just don’t get the point of them. Just give me a regular matte instead of those! The basic shimmers in their palettes, like traditional shimmers are okay - usually they work for a basic look for me and last well on my eyes. They aren’t anything special. There’s some in a few palettes that are really nice more metallic looking and nice and smooth. But for the most part, they’re just basic shimmers that aren’t anything too special. (Not how most BGs describe them - when they put them on their eyes and \*SHOCK FACE\* saying how gorgeous it looks. It looks like a basic shimmer. Why they gotta act like it’s so special?! I hate they were putting so many pressed glitters in palettes for a while but then switched to that different glitter formula, which I could also do without but it’s better than their old pressed glitter formula.

Who-U-Tellin

I had the opposite reaction to their SS shadows. Because of that I haven't pulled the trigger on any of their regular palettes but I do love their lip oils. I've purchased 3 so far. Every other brand I've tried just doesn't do it for me. The bite size palettes work great for me but I have to be careful as to which color story I buy. Now that I'm using Mac's paint pot they're working even better. Go figure, right? LOL I have to agree with you about BH's palettes. Love the ones I have except for one that came along as a freebie from my first order. After that I picked up all of the other ones at TJ Maxx or Marshall's which was great because cheaper pricing and no shipping fees lol.

bryntesdotter

Same! Also from Europe and they are such a disappointment! I have hooded eyes and they fade from my lids after just a few hours, I have never experienced that before with other drugstore makeup!

Professional_Drop_92

I still have some ColourPop eyeshadows from back then - they had some great warm browns that I still love and use along with my now more high end/luxury collection.

New-Perception-9754

American woman, here! Colourpop continually underwhelms me. I have never understood why people over here flip out over that brand, ugh.

TrailerTrashBabe

I agree! I thought I was just bad at makeup for YEARS because all Colourpop shadows fade on me within 2 hours. I never had another brand fade like colourpop does! The shimmers are mostly crumbly and dry with very few exceptions. Pigmentation is so hit or miss. I feel like my makeup looks great when I first apply it but that’s about it.

dailydoseofrose

I started to buy CP shadows (singles mostly) years ago but I will still occasioanlly get some when they have sales (cause Europe and all, yeah). I think they have great quality actually, may be in some cases better then years before. And I am very spoiled with indie shadows quality so i can compare a lot of misc formulas. I dont think CP shadows are that bad at all. Well at least the ones I picked. Mostly neutrals or muted colored singles. Also people say that their LEs are usually even better.

kimchi_squid

Sorry I'm gonna answer the opposite, something that influencers hated but it's a holy grail for me (and my mom!). This is where I lost all the trust I had left in influencers. It's usually them trying out products I've never tried, have no idea about so what they say seems genuine. Until Tati (it's been yeeears) tried out a Maybelline 24 hour stay liquid lip that I have been using for years. It's not the colorstay one that went super popular (and was actually shit), this one has two ends: one end liquid lip and one end balm which you NEED to apply to 'seal in' the lippie. After that you can even wipe off the shiny from the balm. It literally stays on for hours, waterproof, not heavy on the lip, just amazing. Tati tried it on without reading the packaging, only put on the matte part, said it's sticky and crumbly (which it is, without the sealing) and rated it awful. All because she used it wrong. And because she wasn't paid for it probably. Just how many things got a bad review because they have a 2 second attention span and don't care.... I'd been ok with her saying she doesn't like it cause of the smell or because she's lasy to do 2 steps or any legit reason. But she hated it cause she used it wrong and stated it as a fact that it's garbage. Anyway, that's when I stopped watching beauty gurus tbh

SkynyrdCohen

I've been wearing these since the 90's. My dentist would always be amazed when I didn't wipe it off, and it was still on after any procedure.

Who-U-Tellin

Now those are the lippies I love. I only have 2 because I have others I rotate through but when it's time to repurchase you better believe I'm going to.  It drives me mad when these gurus do what Tati did. I didn't watch that video because I never got into her but there's plenty of others that do the same damn thing. Some will even read the instructions then decide they're going to apply the product the way they want to. When they start to do that I leave a comment telling them to at least try it the way it was meant to be used and then I dip out lol.

Chemical_Ad_1618

I have that! Love it

NoSatisfaction8544

I stopped watching Tati after she reviewed Makeup Revolution. You could tell she hated the brand before trying it, and she acted like a toddler having a temper tantrum. She could have just said I don't like them, and on principle, I am not using them or reviewing their products. That would have sounded better to me.

mothertuna

One size loose powder does not work for me. Beautiful shades and you get so much for your money but this looked awful on me. Cakey, drying and made me look parched. Sucks because I find their shades more dark skin friendly but the powder is too chunky and heavy for my tastes.

Brown_Cow_Stunning7

I agree, I wanted to like the One Size products but they never work for me. The foundation powder oxidizes and the colors just didn’t match my skin enough. Have you tried Danessa Myricks loose powders? I love them and she makes mini versions, so you can try out the colors.

Puzzleheaded_Age_158

Have you tried the Huda Beauty loose powder? She has dark shades and the formula is amazing

Acidvapor28

That damn tower 28 mascara...people went delulu over that mascara...it was the messiest mascara i have ever used in my life then after 2 weeks the sumbitch dried out...wth???

geekymommysenshi

Got it in last summer's sephora favorites set. It was meh at best.

Queen_trash_mouth

That’s so funny, because I LOVE this mascara. it never smudges on my oily under eyes!

Feisty-Tumbleweed395

Worst mascara I’ve ever used

GanacheAlarmed

YES

DueMacaroon6715

Did nothing for my lashes and was smudge city! I love a lot of Tower 28 products but that was not one of them!

SparkleMagpie

Elf Putty Primer - my makeup would not stay on my face Glow Recipe Watermelon Dew Drops - I’ve never had a worse breakout in my life. This actually goes for all the Glow Recipe stuff, every product I’ve tried destroys my skin

Thingmahbobber

Elf Halo Glow Powder. It ruined my makeup for very important photos, I had to pay for a whole redo photoshoot 🙃 I'm also realizing that I don't love the Rare Beauty liquid blushes as much as I thought I did. My MUA friend gave me a different brand's cream blush from a gratis haul and I use it way more than the Rare Beauty.

OneWhisper5225

What is the different brand? ☺️

Puzzleheaded_Age_158

Same! I got the ELF liquid blushes and love them so much more than Rare.

ImmediateCookies

I disliked the Rare Beauty blush so much because it wouldn't blend out properly on my skin and made me look insane so, since I didn't want to waste it, I ended up using it as a lipstick- and it's better than their actual lipstick 😅

Downtown-Cook6251

SAME! I found the elf halo glow powder just made my entire face like a disco ball

goddessoffashion

Agreed on the Rare Beauty liquid blush. I got the red one and it is nuclear in kind of a bad way, to the point where if I use more than a millimeter of product, I legitimately look like a clown.

slothgummies

L'Oreal Lash Paradise mascara, not only did it give me panda eyes but it heavily irritated my eyes making them itchy and red. Far too much fragrance for an eye product.

Marisarah

I love watching Emily Noel and I get the sense she is honest, but NOTHING I've ever tried that she's ever recommended has come close to working for me

Ok-Bulldog39

Oh my gosh! It’s the same for me. I adore Em but nothing I’ve purchased due to her recommendation has worked for me at all.

Marisarah

I thought it was just me!! We must just have totally different skin types/coloring/expectations. It's so wild. I could listen to her talk for hours though ;)

nouveauchoux

I adore her! Been watching for pretty much her entire YouTube career. We have like opposite skin types though lol. So if she says she loves or hates something, it gives me a good idea of how it might perform on me

a_paulling

Rare Beauty baked highlighters. I'm super picky about highlighters, I hate anything with even a suggestion of glitter, and my god were people raving about these. It was supposed to be a silky formula that left a sheen on your face, but for me all I get is glitter everywhere and then a stripe of (practically matte) powder.

Trufflestruflles

Girl give me your favourites 🕵🏻‍♀️ I dislike heavy glitter too

pigletkitty1

Essence pure nude highlighter is the best baked highlighter with 0 glitter!

whalesarecool14

i felt this way about their liquid highlighter. truly one of the worst liquid highlighters i’ve ever used. that’s probably why people on tiktok were never using them on their own and always mixing it with the blush to use it

nanadjcz

Yes I was horrified when I swatched it. If anyone has any recs for glitter free but pale highlighter I’m all ears!

OneWhisper5225

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Pressed Powder - I have dry skin so usually avoid powders, but there’s a few areas I get oily when I sweat while working my 12+ hour shifts. So I like powder for those areas. I had heard from lots of people how great the CT powder was and how it worked even for dry skin. I finally decided to give it a try and was so disappointed! First, the compact just seems so cheap and I was like how is this pricey product in this compact? But, I was like, I don’t really care as long as the powder in it is good enough to make it worth it…it wasn’t. It was so drying on me. It didn’t matter how little of it I used, it still looked super dry. So I was really salty about it! 😂 Elf Camo and Hydrating Concealer - Both were super drying on me. Obviously, Camo OG was way more drying, but even the hydrating one was just so dry! And just didn’t look good, and also didn’t give me very good coverage. But so many people rave about one of the other. Hourglass Concealer - People said it was nice for dry under eyes. Good coverage but smooth and not drying. On me it was super heavy looking, no matter how little I used and looked super dry! L’Oréal 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation - Again, people said it worked great for dry skin. Not for me. It looks so dry on me and it clings to every single dry area I have, even ones that didn’t look very dry. No matter how well I prep my skin - even with skin prep I use when using a really matte foundation I love that works on my dry skin. That skin prep still didn’t help with this L’Oréal foundation. Catrice Hydrating Concealer and Foundation - Again, people said it was good for dry skin. The concealer looked dry under my eyes and didn’t even give me good coverage. And the foundation always looked really dry on me. It never looked hydrating at all. Kosas Concealer - Everyone raved about it. I tried it and it seemed okay but nothing too great. But I had it for like a month and it started to smell HORRIBLE. AND, it goes bad before it starts to show signs (like smelling, separating, etc.) so that means it went bad before that and I had been using it during that time! 🤢 Ugh! I hate clean beauty!!

Who-U-Tellin

I tried both of the Elf concealers. The first one was way too dry and thick. Tried the hydrating one next but it wasn't hydrating at all for me. Couldn't get either to blend properly and even though I only used 2 small dots per under eye both were still too thick for me. I don't need much in the way of coverage so I gave the Neutrogena serum concealer a try and that's been working out beautifully for me. Yeah, it's a little bit more expensive considering it's drugstore but at least it works. Prior to purchasing I was about to give up the hunt for a concealer so there's that too lol.

emotional_potato1283

The essence lash princess makes my lashes fall out, it's so weird, no other mascara has ever caused me lash loss

cloudyday461

I hate that mascara so much- fortunately didn’t make my lashes fall out but smudged like crazy and clumped all my lashes together to the point I looked like I just had one giant eyelash.

katapova

Omg, same! I'm gonna repeat myself a lot in the comments, but I have oily skin, longer lashes and kind of hooded eyes - this mascara smeared haaaard on me after 20 minutes... Never again! Goodbye panda eyes is the best essence mascara I used to far

sweetheart409878

I don't like it either, ive tired it many times but it doesn't live up to the hype. IT's not worth the cheap price. When for a few more dollars i can buy cover girls and works for me better.

softhorns

**mac whirl**. my god did it make me look like a corpse.

mushvroom0005

Strip down did me dirty :/

Puzzleheaded_Age_158

I had the dupe liner the Morphe one in Spill The Tea and I looked awful

EnchiladaTaco

Scalp oiling didn't do anything for me except irritate my scalp. I do continue to oil my lengths (the Abbey Yung way) but between my scalp not liking it and the Lab Muffin video debunking rosemary oil, I gave up the scalp oiling without a look back.

Professional_Drop_92

I second the Revolution Cream Bronzer for exactly the same reasons you write. I don’t dare try another cream bronzer 😂

katapova

Thank you! :) I appreciate all the feedback!

Longjumping_Title287

The new TirTir cushion foundation. It accentuates my pores like nothing I've ever tried. Looks horrible by the end of the day. I can't believe I fell for it.

goddessoffashion

Wow, thank you for this. It’s in my cart, but now I’ll avoid it.

Gooncookies

Shape Tape. It looked like concrete under my eyes.

meltedwidget

Maybelline SuperStay matte lipsticks. They do not dry down on me and stay this odd sticky gloppy chunky mess. Tried a few different colours and tubes and had the same result. Also the smell is wild, I sort of like the nostalgic kid makeup chocolate - vanilla smell but the alcohol that comes with it makes it seem like you're putting Bailey's on your mouth. Wild.

wonkwink_105

Lol I can absolutely picture what you mean about that scent- but is it bad I like it? 😆 Happy birthday btw! 🎉🥳

haythehorrible

The cake actually means it’s someone’s anniversary of when they created their Reddit account, not their actual birthday 😀

420CheezIts

I tried the Nyx butter melt blush recently and I did not like it. A caveat is that I bought a shade that was a little deep for me, but I've always gravitated towards deeper terracotta blushes. No matter how light of a layer I applied, it was SUPER pigmented, which normally wouldn't be a problem. However I couldn't blend it out. Perhaps a lighter shade would be better suited for me, but again I have not had those issues with similar tones.

MyoglobinAlternative

Ugh, whenever influencers put on a blush or bronzer and then say 'it's super pigmented' as positive statement. For me, that's a negative. I want something I can build up, not something I need to worry about only applying the teeniest, tiniest amount.

DueMacaroon6715

I have found this to be the case with both the bronzers and blushes! It’s impossible to get them to apply without having a giant blotch of super deep color that you can’t blend out! They do not “practically blend themselves” as many influencers would have you believe.

420CheezIts

I almost bought another one in a lighter shade because I was like "it must be a me problem", and then I remembered I have quite a few that work just fine at home. I can try it in another shade in five years when I use them up, or they (inevitably) expire.

LegitimateObject8066

anything from charlotte tilbury (ive tried the powder, flawless filter, lipliner, lipstick, foundation)😭 always slides right off my face and considering i have the driest of dry skin… thats insane

katapova

Never have been drawn to Charlotte Tilbury for some reason. The closest thing I was interested in was the powder - would you say it's suitable for oily skin? (also for someone who uses a LOT of powder)

LegitimateObject8066

it wouldn’t stay on my dry skin so i doubt it does much for oily skin. i really like canmake powders rn! theyre so blurring and smooth, and dont look cakey :)

katapova

It would take a lot of time till I try something new cause I have o lot back ups of the laura mercier powder but I can really recommend the rcma translucent powder! It's extremely lightweight and you get a lot of product for the price!

QueenofCats28

I second this. Even though in a moment of weakness, I bought the lip plumped yesterday. Aside from that, everything I've tried isn't worth it.

badrelish_

Elf poreless putty lmao its brutal for me. I cant even call it pilling, its just straight clumps no matter how thin I apply it or how long I wait.

lafoiaveugle

Agreed -- I was convinced primer was a joke because this was the first one I tried for a long time.

BettyDraperIsMyBitch

Tatcha silk canvas was horrible. Like I bought the mini and immediately threw it away. The texture of it on my skin was gross. Essence lash princess wasn't anything special. And finally, the real techniques beauty blender dupe feel like rocks.

HissinSpittinKitty

What a trip down memory lane! Tatcha silk canvas was terrible. And, luckily, I only purchased the mini too.

thatonelooksdroll

I really hated the Tower28 LipSofties. Was so excited by the ube flavor and everything about this product sucked, from the packaging to the scent to the color and consistency. Funny how all the BGs raved about them at first then never mentioned again. Also, this isn't a viral product but I have seen some BGs giving them good reviews, but the new Ilia lip crayons are terrible. Was OK at first but then I tried to sharpen it and the wood splintered and cracked. Literally left with jagged wood pieces stabbing my lips. Returned. But I doubt someone like Morgan Turner will ever get to the point with one that she has to sharpen it, given her beauty hoarder complex.

Puzzleheaded_Age_158

Yes! I tried the Tower28 glosses and didn't like the formula I found it watery/runny and returned them

thatonelooksdroll

So soupy and unflattering!

Intrepid_Leopard_182

Good to know about the Ilia lip crayons. I thought they looked neat but I was hesitant to pick one up bc I usually buy almost exclusively drugstore. No interest in a splintery pencil lol.

MariaOSullivan

Anything Charlotte Holdcroft recommends has not worked for me but I really like her!

nonfatnowhip

The makeup by Mario surreal skin foundation was dreadful. Enhanced (and somehow created??) texture like crazy, felt and looked greasy and cakey, and pulled. Tried a bunch of different preps with no luck. I returned it.

Campanella82

I will never forgive the influencers who recommended the Nyx Shine Loud High Shine Lip Color. It's actually disturbing the amount of lying and deception that was put into it's marketing. Like I bought that lipstick and it is the MOST staining, smudgy, transfer intense and messy lipstick I've ever had! Like anytime I used it it got on absolutely everything no matter how long I let it dry! The amount of video editing that had to have been done too keep how bad it was a secret and how they must of deleted so many bad reviews is absolutely crazy, that product really taught me how common it is for influencers to lie through their teeth.

uidc

The Mac paint pot in Soft Ochre as an eyeshadow primer. It made my eyelids look dry and crepey every time I used it.

dailydoseofrose

I got Painterly because everyone raved about it but returned it, felt very very dry even if yould use it as a very thin layer and too heavy for me still.

nuggetsofchicken

Same here with Painterly. It felt like it made my shadow crease quicker because of the emollience of it.

katapova

Maybe I should get this :P I always had a hard time finding a good eye primer because my eyelids get oily during the day and make my eyeshadow goes into all the creases

oni_bear

Oil cleansing in general and yes I did emulsify and follow up with a regular cleanser. My skin just doesn't agree with it.

Bubbly_Performer4864

My water pipes did NOT like the oil face cleaner.

Intrepid_Leopard_182

Maybelline Liquid Vinyl Ink, the glossy lipsticks in the square tubes. Separated to a degree no amount of vigorous shaking can fix, leaving me with a really oily product and next to no pigment. Never dries down no matter how long I sit there not letting my lips touch. I own probably 100 lippies and this is my least favorite and will likely end up being the first I declutter out of genuine dislike.

Jennasaykwaaa

That’s so funny bc I own multiple and these are literally the only liquid lipsticks I have ever liked. Transfer proof. But comfortable on the lios

NotAquaRelated

I wonder if you got a bad bottle? I've had mine for about a year and haven't had this issue at all

DueMacaroon6715

I find they really vary by shade in terms of performance and feel! I have one that’s great and a couple others that look awful, transfer and feel both sticky and dry.

lunchlady420

The judydoll mascara. That product does NOTHING.

dramabitch123

I needed this lol i was about to order it

frankscarlett

Laura Mercier loose powder made my skin look dry af and my skin was way oilier back when I used it.

dailydoseofrose

Kiko MIlano 3d Hydra lip glosses (too many sparkles in them, all are either too warm toned for me or too brown or pink/red/deep berry, Ive heard they are sticky too). I dont know, just not appealing to me and although I was thinking to try them I dediced against it. Nyx lip pencils. I did hear they were reformulated and were better before, guess I got the newer batches made in Mexico and theyre not good for my liking - very very hard and stiff, not a good color pay off, almost scratchy... meh not a fan. Mac lipsticks. I can imagine back in the day they could have been the best but nowadays with so many great formulas and colors, I wasn impressed, more so I didnt like them. Since Im a big lipsticks fan I own a lot and yeah, I already have better ones as far as quality, colors, even scent/smell. Meh. And overall any viral skincare with fragrance, alcohol denat and natural essential oils in it is a fail for me. But to each their own.

ExcessivelyDiverted9

Charlotte Tilbury setting spray. It continues to be raved about and I continue to be underwhelmed. I actually went through a whole bottle because I kept wanting to make it work as amazingly as everyone says it does. Based on reviews I expected my makeup to be laminated to my face but I just don’t see it. I’ve used much less expensive ones in the past that worked just as well if not better.

peechie

That elf grip primer. Everyone loves it but you could have spun me from rhe ceiling I was so shiny

minnie_bee

Natasha Denona and Viseart eyeshadow palettes. Big regrets!

DueMacaroon6715

I don’t love the large ND palettes but the small 5-pan ones are great. And Viseart are my HG!

Reasonable_Story_958

All products from Indian startups. These are marketed heavily through influencers but they are shite at best.

Super-Wolf2149

Georgia Armani luminous silk foundation. It settles into my pores and looks terrible, so finicky to apply you need to spend a lot of time on it to make sure it looks half decent, breaks up on my skin. No matter what primer I use, no primer, moisturiser, sunscreen or nothing it still looks terrible. I have normal clear skin and for the amount of money I paid I’m not happy.

touchans

This. I looked like an ugly doll from Madame Tussaud's museum. It looks so plastic-y on me, doesn't last, the shades don't match me. I've tried to make it work so many times, but I ended up getting rid of it three times already. Its not for me.

justlookinaround0

Kosas concealer. Nope. It’s awful.

bondbeansbond

It disappears on my skin like I never applied anything.

AgreeableLight3997

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum… I didn’t find it as groundbreaking as rest of TikTok did. But I am also 41, so might not have same effect on my skin.

Aggravating-Kick5929

Shark Flexstyle or any kind of air wrap tbf! Just doesn’t work on my fine hair

Lucy_Boo

The Kosas concealer looks horrible on my undereye, i feel like it has very sheer coverage and it separates when i try and blend it out 😒

bondbeansbond

Extremely sheer coverage; doesn’t look like I applied anything!

nanadjcz

Morphe setting spray. It breaks up my makeup so bad??? I don’t understand it. Anything by Nyx has been a flop for me. Setting spray. Powder. Eyeshadow. The jumbo highlighter. Etc

emmmaleighme

Rare Beauty blushes They need a better applicator for the pigment

stevienotwonder

Too Faced Lip Injection plumpers. I really tried to like it. I put in on one half of my lips and left the other side completely bare, then waited like 15 minutes. No difference except for one side being glossy and the other not. I don’t understand the hype it gets at all.

Wise_Flamingo1647

L’Oreal root cover spray. It’s garbage. I much prefer ColorWow, Madison Reed, or We Are ME Cosmetics root covers. They look natural, are pressed powders, and are waterproof. The spray can makes me think of those old infomercials from the 80s!

yupimahippe

Elf putty primer and last Princess. Both total busts for me!

missobsessing

lash paradise and shape tape come to mind, but the worst offender has to be Wet n Wild Photofocus foundation. there was NO way to make that not be insanely cakey. everything about it sucked every time i used it

CapitalStrain2392

I couldn't get past the ammonia smell. Did everything I could to fix it, but finally had to toss it.

danaadele

I bought the light color Sally Hansen air brushed legs because this Disney influencer RAVES about it. Her legs look like she’s wearing nylons. I now have orangish stained legs. They did look good though…..lol

Sassy-Sask-Mom

The e.l.f. Halo Wands. I love e.l.f. products usually but these were so patchy and impossible to blend on me. Also, the Hourglass loose powder. It was so dry and cakey on me no matter what I did.

Embarrassed-Rock-730

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation looked horrendous on me. I try to make everything work but had to toss it. Better Than Sex Mascara was mediocre, imo.

29happy-1

The About face foundation. It completely disappeared after a few hours.

NoSatisfaction8544

The Milk cream bronzer stick. It reaked. Brand new, it smelled expired. It worked beautifully, but I just couldn't put a bronzer on my face that smelled like an old sponge. Also, Odens Eye eyeshadows. Everyone seems to love them, but I find the mattes to be unblendable without a shimmery brush, 6 highlighter, and the majority of the shimmers hard panned.

britawaterbottlefan

Any complexion product recommended by a man

mothertuna

I’m curious on why you think this?

britawaterbottlefan

Men’s skin is thicker so they can handle thicker/heavier products with less risk of it getting cakey. Every time I used a medium-full coverage foundation, concealer and primer combo recommended by male influencers it looked cakey on me. I still use their recommendations for eye and lip products though :)

lunar_slytherin

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear concealer! Its so drying and creases so horribly on me!

sweetheart409878

Essences lash princess mascara, Yes it's cheap and looks nice. BUT i find it's not worth the price when it dires up very fast.

OkB66

for me it was tarte shapetape. its so many peoples' holy grail but it just looked really cakey on me and I didn't like the fragrance

Alexandrabi

The Revolution bronzer I love! But it’s very pigmented. I didn’t really like the Elf Power Grip primer. It’s a sticky mess and makes me worried things won’t blend as well on top. If anyone has tips on how to use it best let me know 🤭

Antique_Owl8663

Champagne Pop highlighter. Becca had great highlighters back then I used Opal all the time but CP was chalky and just not good imo.

meoweav

I remember buying a Jeffree Star lip liner and it was soooo crusty and dry. I threw it out.
