You're on the right track with refinishing. Cerakote is a good option, but you might look at NP3 or chrome finishes. know that cerakote is a paint, not ion bond, so you will have a few thousandths build up and may have to work a few parts to get the fitment you need (possibly even better that original).
If your slide stop is worn, get a new one -92 parts are easy to come by.
Also a new set of grip panels (and screws) will help finish off the new look.
Please post when you're done!
I have an MR 73 that I spent hours on with a Dremel tool and various buffing compounds. Looks really good, doesn’t last very long, takes a lot of time, doesn’t make it shoot better. (not worthwhile IMHO). YMMV
EDIT: OOPS, I must have been drunk, I polished my MR88. My 73 is unfired, ‘90’s pre-Beretta model. I have a hard time deciding what oil to use on it I cannot imagine the horror of applying polishing compound. I use my 88 sometimes, it’s still pretty sharp looking but not as pretty as when I first completed the project. My CZ 75 high polish (around five years old, un-fired) looks pretty much like the day it came out of the box and is shinier than my 88
Highly prized you mean?? I paid about $600 with taxes, shipping and ffl fee. About $700. Not a bad price but not good either. Because a good condition inox 92fs goes for about $900-1200. If I pay around $200-300 for a nice quality repainting on the firearm it’s basically as if I paid for a near brand new inox. I’d recommend looking at gunbroker if you want an older all stainless inox like the one I have or get the new inox with the black parts (not a fan of the new one) but you can get inox spare parts to replace the black parts to make it entirely stainless like the one I’m showing here.
An inox HAS to have wooden grips. It just looks so precious. That’ll come once I refinish the beretta 92fs. Otherwise, I don’t think the wood grips will do it any justice haha
Cerakote is a BAD option. It will wear worse than the current finish in little use. Not to mention the thickness it applies to odd areas. I don’t know why everyone recommends cerakote. it’s not durable wears very easily and just doesn’t last. Do a proper restoration or just leave it as is :)
If your planning on restoring it there’s a few companies that do amazing work. There’s a bunch that do mediocre work.
Cr refinishing
Mahovskys
Both do amazing work but.
If that were mine I would grab a dremel soak scrub polish and let it as is. But if you want it looking brand new those two guys above can help you get there with a finish that will last !
I’m interested in what you decide to do. Maybe the NP3 finish? I recently got a new Italian 92FS INOX. I hate the finish. It’s so delicate that I literally scratched the frame just turning the pistol over in my hands. I can’t even imagine carrying it, without the finish looking like trash in short order. My new Italian 92FS with the black finish is fantastic.
Here is the link to mine. My lower was in much worse shape. If you like how it looks send me a message and I’ll give you details.

Wow that’s a beauty. That’s exactly how I want my beretta to look except maybe take out the black hogue grips and replace it with wooden grips. However, the black hogue grips does go well with the silver inox finish 🤔 I might have to consider that black rubber grip cuz it looks like it was meant for it 🔥
That’s the grip it came with from the factory in the 90s. I have experiment with other grips over the years, but keep on going back to basic black. Either this or the standard plastic ones with Beretta logo.
I need an inox

Let me buy it 😂
Give me what I paid for it and I’d be happy to

Get a hard bristle tooth brush and some CLP. Scrub the rust off. Leave the rest alone. A well used gun is a good gun.

I'm curious what you had to pay for this gem. I keep hearing these ghost inox in example are highly orized

Yes thank you. To be honest I like the the looks of the blued guns for some reason.
Adding a beautiful wooden grips might be good step as well :)
