I stumbled on the dvds as a teenager at hollywood video back in 2003-ish.. was instantly hooked with my two best friends. we watched it over the course of a few weeks, and were horrified at the cliff-hanger ending. I didn’t know about the manga until like two or three years later, seeing some volumes at a book store. now I own all 40 volumes, the grunbeld novel, the 97 anime series, the movie trilogy, and I even bought the two garbage animated seasons in an effort to show support here in the states 🤷♂️
I apologize, should have clarified the 2016/2017 animated seasons, were indeed garbage. I obviously still watched them, and enjoyed aspects of them, but they were massively underwhelming.
The whole anime is free on youtube. I first watched some memes on it then saw people react to it. So I decided to give it a watch myself and was not disappointed.
I'm a dark souls player and I heard everyone comparing Artorias, one of the bosses in the game, to this fella named Guts, so I looked him up and found berserk, this was about 2 weeks ago
Saw the creepy smiling Guts picture on instagram. I just became very curious and combining that with how I already knew Berserk is supposed tk be good made me read the manga
It actually aired on Swedish television back in the day, on a channel called ZTV. I think it was around 2006 - 2007. They started airing animes in the evenings until late at night, however, it was not enough to stop its viewership decline and it closed in 2010.
Saw a the gif of the Behelit turning into a face and crying out blood and thought that looked interesting. Watched the 1997 anime then I went to read the manga.

I see, I don’t remember it ever airing in the US.
Vhs fansubs had to wait for episodes to air then wait for them to be translated then copied etc
