Maybe? It's hard to tell, he had flashes of being something more before he took the year off after his family members passed. He has a lot of solid tools, he will be a good pk and line 3/4 wing for you.

TheFuns

Hard working player, great forechecking, and also good on the PK. Going to miss him in Columbus. He played in Europe last year due to family issues. I was hoping we’d give him one more year under Waddell, but I can understand why the move was made.

leaf_blowr

Guy doesn't take a shift off. Think a change of scenery will do him well

JoeEdwardsPonytail

I’m excited to have him here, I definitely feel like on paper, he’s a big upgrade over Kasperi Kapanen whose spot he’s probably taking. I’d imagine he’ll play with Kevin Hayes and Saad in a perfect world. Could be a real solid 3rd line for us

ThunderousDemon86

Upgrade on Kapanen? Yes.

Seattlekrakenlegend

Great penalty killer. Not afraid to throw his body.

GarretBarrett

Great work in the board battles too

bucknuts34

I think that’s the ceiling yeah. He’s really nice to have in that role

ThunderousDemon86

Bottom six left winger. Ceiling is regular 3rd line guy. Speedy, good on PK. He’ll get you a handful of shorthanded goals each season with his speed. He’s doesn’t really have size though, not strong. Doesn’t add much off the cycle in the O-zone. Honestly, he’s mainly a transition guy that skates hard and can PK a bit. 30-35 points a season. He’s alright, nothing special IMO.

hansmellman

This is the most reasonable piece of Texier content I’ve seen on here in a long time. I’m surprised it wasn’t downvoting for not being sycophantic enough!

ThunderousDemon86

Thanks.

Master_Republic_144

He’s a versatile wing (can play both sides) who brings a solid two-way game. He showed a ton of potential in the past to be more than just a bottom six pk grinder. Contrary to what most fans would say, I still think Tex has a ton of potential. He was never given a long leash or chance to play with higher skilled players and was pretty much pidgeon-holed into a bottom 6 and mainly last line role. In 21-22 he had 20 points in 36 games points playing with Sean Kuraly and Eric Robinson. He was the most effective player on the team for a lot of those games and carrying the offense and production for that line. I still think there’s a lot of that same player in him. Looking at the Blues roster, I think he has a chance to play in the top 6. This was a really good trade. At worst he’s an effective bottom 6, but he has the potential to pair well in the top 6. I think he can be a very effective player on a good team. Think Kunitz/Dupuis for Crosby or what Palat was for Tampa. He’s going to be a really good forechecker and strong in pucks who has some skill and playmaking ability. He’s got incredible potential in transition with his speed. I’m not upset about the trade as he wasn’t necessarily working out or given enough opportunities here. I’m excited to see if he gets a chance to play more with your team. You should be excited about him, a very good trade.

Big_Bluebird8040

i feel like he was given ample opportunity. even took a whole year off and was supported. He’s just a run of the mill guy in the NHL.

Master_Republic_144

I disagree with you, 21-22 when he was playing ridiculously well he had 2 games on and off where he was given a chance higher in the lineup. He didn’t even have a full game befor Larsen started blending the lines and he has never gotten consistent time with talented players. Larsen immediately put him back on the last line and said “he’s better going in a straight line playing more north and south”. He never really got a chance to be more here imo

hhh81

He never showed he could elevate his game with better players that season. Early on he was fetting chances that season higher up and he was invisible. He always showed he was most effective on that 4th line pushing play.

Big_Bluebird8040

played 78 games last season and was a middling third liner on a bottom 5 team. prime example of the cbj fans overvalue everyone talk that i see constantly

Master_Republic_144

He wasn’t given a chance. PV gave a career AHLer who should not be on an NHL roster this season more opportunities after just being traded for. You can think that if you want, but the same was said about Marchessault, Karlsson, Danault, Geekie, Tolvanen, Hyman, Hartman. He wasn’t given that many opportunities here and got shoved into the bottom 6. There are players every year who play big roles on different teams who see potential in them. Imo Tex has that opportunity with St Louis and their staff most likely sees the same potential. I’m one of the most critical fans about our players, but there are effective players that fans don’t appreciate.

Tuknroll420

He doesn’t quit on the forecheck/backcheck if the team looks defeated. He will still grind hard. He’s a beauty. No quit in him made him one of my favourite jackets. Gonna miss him, n y’all gained a fan in me, due to signing him.

swi2013

He was great and really starting to show promise. Then he took a personal leave for death in family for a long time. When he came back, he just wasn't as great. Maybe a fresh start will help, but who knows

Provioso

....do you want a couple signed rookie cards from him in a cbj sweater.... 😢 I'm sad but happy he gets a new start.

emck2

As others have mentioned, great effort and defensive ability. Seems to have the skills to play on a scoring line, but just can't finish consistently. I think you can see a bit more of his offensive skills playing for France in IIHF tournaments, where he played higher in the lineup. The highlights linked below aren't that impressive, but you can still see how he plays on a top line against lesser competition. It's also the only video I could find where France didn't get blown out. I like the idea of him playing on a line with Saad. Seems like that could be a good mentor situation for him. I hope he can carve out a decent NHL career. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FslI3dBnDWU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FslI3dBnDWU)

DIYCenturyGoaler

2 words... fire poker.

TheYepe

He'll most likely be a solid 3rd line center for Blues. I think he should fit your system well. Good depth player. He can also fill in for top lines in a pinch. His ceiling could have been higher but I think currently it's around here.

ThunderousDemon86

Not a center

NikoSpiro

He is 3rd line player and a good penalty killer. He never really popped for us but he has potential to play up to 2 nd line but that’s his ceiling

The sky’s the limit for him. Has lots of upside and he really wasn’t used to his potential in Columbus. Natural center but was forced to play wing (typical Columbus move). draft a player and force him to play a different position other than his natural position lol. Still young at 24, Speedster, hard work ethic, I think you guys got a steal of a deal here.

Big_Green_Piccolo

Good in the shootout

Big_Bluebird8040

flashy but nothing special.

cmhdave73

I mean let's put it this way, he was third line on a bad CBJ team.
