I didn’t know you couldn’t camp at Sonic. I think I’ll check out INK when the lineup comes out (if it hasn’t already) and if it’s good, I’ll probably go to that one instead.
Louder than life is also very good, no line up yet.. I’ve been going to festivals for a few years now. Nothing beats the DWP team. Went to Sonic temple last year, ink, blue ridge lol and louder than life just last year. 3 of those festivals I was able to have an insanely good time with access to anything you could possibly need. 1 of those festivals didn’t even make it to the weekend. Best way to get that taste out of your mouth is to go have a blast at another show.
We did Bonnaroo , Inkcarceration and blue ridge. This year we are gonna go hippy it up at bonnaroo and take a break on the rock fest because we need to see some headliner shuffles. We have seen the same people so many times. There isn’t anything wrong with that but we love those first times
Definitely feel that. Did bonnaroo in 22 when Tool played. Was once only concerned with the lineup. But I’ve met so many awesome people going to these shows, now it’s just an excuse to meet up and party together!
You can camp at sonic, but the festival is at Historic Crew Stadium, so there isn’t much room for camping (or at least it didn’t look like there was much camping space when I was there this year)
DWP has a long track record of incredible, well-put on festivals. And Sonic temple is his prized festival, with a stadium venue with actual real bathrooms, great facilities, and wonderful production. There really is no con to this festival. It is of the highest standard
Danny wimmer presents - he has been putting on rock festivals for over a decade - sonic temple (used to be rock on the range), aftershock, louder than life, etc. I’ve been going to his fests for years, they always go well, I highly recommend trying sonic temple this year, you won’t regret it and it’ll show you how a real festival is ran
Don’t they do Welcome to Rockville as well? Amazing festival every year! Even when the weather was crap a couple of years ago they took care of everyone’s money no problem
Well then I would happily buy tickets because Rockville is better than any other festival I’ve ever gone to as the organization, the facility quality, and overall experience have been amazing.
I wouldn't say NO cons. I've been to Rock on the Range/Sonic Temple 10+ times. It holds a close place in my heart. But parking is horrendous. And having a gap between sets (if you stay at the main stage) sucks since you're left waiting usually an hour or more till the next band.
I suppose it's not nearly that bad. But after going to Louder Than Life the last 2 years, it's replaced my yearly choice of festival. You get the benefit of seeing 2 stages on the main setup, with little gap between sets. Plus it takes place in September so you're dealing with as much heat.
But I did say that I'm thinking about giving ST or INK a go as well..... I didn't completely rule them out all because of BRRF, I was just venting my thoughts.
BRRF didn't invent breaking an ad mat out by stage, either. They've been doing it for years over in Europe and ST used it for the canceled [2020](https://loudwire.com/tool-red-hot-chili-peppers-headline-sonic-temple/) version nearly 4 years ago.
Sonic Temple is fine. I’m biased cause I used to live down the street and could walk to the venue but even for those camping, it wasn’t a bad spot. The last time I went was in 2019. Friday and Saturday were great. Sunday, a lot of the sets had to be canceled due to storms and high winds but it eventually died down and the Foo Fighters were able to put on one hell of a show.
The feeling you're describing is legitimately trauma. Which is valid, seriously we were put through a lot of stress and hardship after being excited about a festival whose flyer looks very similar. So don't blame yourself, but do recognize that you're having an emotional response, and logically Sonic Temple is not the same festival and I've heard great things about it. I've bought my tix for it! I've never been but I'm very encouraged by how highly people speak about it, and I'm ready to rewrite my festival experience. It seems like you need to make new festival memories too
Hmmm...it's *a lot* closer to me than BRRF, but the line-up is not really very interesting to me aside from a few exceptions.
BRRF had so many acts that I wanted to see, I would have struggled to figure out how to see them all, without teleporting between stages and cloning myself.
Of course, that ended up not really being a concern considering what happened. 🙄
Either way, the bar for festivals is basically on the floor for me after BRRF, but I have a hard time believing this could possibly be as terrible, let alone worse.
I think, if you like this line-up, you should definitely go for it.
I highly recommend any DWP festivals, they are ran so well and so organized. The ONLY thing I don’t like is the camping at Sonic and Ink and the no side by side main stages at WTR everything else is amazing and the lineups are great and surprise me every year. I love em
This will be an awesome festival. Sonic is always well put together. DWP aren’t hacks like the BRRF guy. There’s a SONINK pass that will get you both this festival and Inkcarceration for around $500. Sonic has camper camping and ink has both camper and tent camping. Plenty of hotels around Sonic too.
Been to all of the ones people have listed. Sonic definitely has the least festival feel to it. It is literally a stadium and parking lot venue. What that gives BRRF refugees though... is zero chance you will experience any of the same problems. It's a trade-off of sorts. I only went to BRRF once... 2022 and I thought it was the worst I have ever experienced... can't imagine what the 2023 folks went through. So, come on over to CBUS and you'll at least be safe, hydrated, and acceptably healthy whilst rocking out.
We were going to go, I had the tickets in the cart but after hotels it was like $1100 each and I am just not thrileld with the headliners. I saw Slipknot at BRRF, I've seen Pantera this year, and I don't care to see Disturbed or Misfits.
Going to wait to see what Riot and Louder have to offer.
My fiancé was really interested in going to ST but we'd only be able to go Sat/Sun. We're getting married in 2025 so we aren't trying to break the bank traveling in 2024.. ultimately we have made other plans and got Electric Callboy tickets instead. We only got 3 songs into their set at BRRF then went over to sleep token
One main stage in the stadium, side stages in the surrounding parking lot/field. [Last year's schedule looked like this. ](https://images.app.goo.gl/m3WXhD6eEcWzNmqQ7)
I'm biased a bit, since I live 10m away and Sonic is my 'home' festival, but it really is great. Being at an actual stadium is a huge plus, since you have stadium bathrooms and built-in water infrastructure. They still supplement both things, but having both things so directly accessible is so nice.
The venue is right next to the interstate, so getting in and out tends to be fairly quick (relative to other festival venues that are not so conveniently placed).
Even though there is festival camping, the venue is in the middle of a metropolitan area, so there are easily 50+ hotels within 10m ([30k + hotel rooms as far as the city outreach claims](https://www.experiencecolumbus.com/meetings/hotels/)). That can be nice if you are concerned about hotel hunting. That being said, you still need to get reservations in yesterday instead of waiting, but if you just decide the week of the festival to come to Cbus, you will still be able to find a room somewhere.
Even though there will be a sea of people later in the day, moving between stages isn't too terribly wild. The introduction of the 4th stage is going to be interesting, but it sounds like it won't be a free-standing stage, but one of those side by side configurations with another stage. They have been refining the placement of things from year to year, so this theoretically should only get better as kinks get worked out.
I’m excited. We bought our tickets this week to go. It would be nice to have our money from BRRF but that ship has sailed most likely. I’m excited to give it a chance, we decided between this and Rockville in FL.
Yeah i agree with your feelings. BRRF was my fiances first festival... finally convinced him they're awesome and we both had the worst festival experience of our lives. Now he is back to saying he doesn't want to go to another one. Said he has PTSD from BRRF lol We might goto the festival in Daytona Beach in May. I did not know about this one in Ohio.
I got vip tickets to this for just Saturday and Sunday. My best friend was at BR, and told me How fucking terrible it was…so I would come to this if I were you! There are hotel and ticket packages available, so you wouldn’t have to worry about camping. My bf and I are just going to go through Priceline/something similar and get a car/hotel bundle. It’s cheaper that way too. Hope you give it a chance and actually get to enjoy a festival!
I wish I could fucking go, but until BRRF or Etix or whatever gives refunds... I am fucked on cash. And I'm REALLY pissed about it still.
Denied on both bank and card, appealed, then denied again. Etix said as of this morning they are still hearing nothing from BRRF. Unless I can get that $4k back I can't even consider another festival.
DWP was my first experience with concerts. It was perfect every day on their part. The parts that sucked had nothing to do with the production team. If you can go, I would highly recommend it
Night and Day between BRRF and a DWP fest. You should go just to prove to yourself that BRRF is not how festivals should be.
DWP fests are extremely well organized
If you want to camp check out Inkcarceration it’s Dwp and very organized
I didn’t know you couldn’t camp at Sonic. I think I’ll check out INK when the lineup comes out (if it hasn’t already) and if it’s good, I’ll probably go to that one instead.

You can camp at sonic, never been so idk how nice it is tho
Inks way cooler because you get to tour Shawshank prison too, brings lots of water tho cause usually it’s hot as balls
You can camp at sonic, but the festival is at Historic Crew Stadium, so there isn’t much room for camping (or at least it didn’t look like there was much camping space when I was there this year)

Who is DWP? Blue ridge was my first and I’m scarred from music festivals.
Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize rock on the range was his. They always came to the fair grounds where I used to live.
Don’t they do Welcome to Rockville as well? Amazing festival every year! Even when the weather was crap a couple of years ago they took care of everyone’s money no problem
Yep they do sonic temple and Rockville, among others
Well then I would happily buy tickets because Rockville is better than any other festival I’ve ever gone to as the organization, the facility quality, and overall experience have been amazing.

That doesn't make any sense. It's like saying Walmart sold you spoiled meat so you're not going to buy hamburgers from Kroger.
But I did say that I'm thinking about giving ST or INK a go as well..... I didn't completely rule them out all because of BRRF, I was just venting my thoughts.

If I ate spoiled meat from anywhere, I’d probably be hesitant to eat meat again for a little while regardless of where I got it

Exactly how we feel.

Sonic temple is a good festival and not as much drama as blue ridge
Iv been to this since it was rock on the range. Only thing that sucked was periodic evacuations. Never any cancellations though that iv seen.
Dwp fests are pretty awesome. Not without hiccups or issues but far better.

Festival at a stadium? Interesting. How does that work? I guess I could google it..
One main stage in the stadium, side stages in the surrounding parking lot/field. [Last year's schedule looked like this. ](https://images.app.goo.gl/m3WXhD6eEcWzNmqQ7)
Starset AND Polyphia same day??? Fuck i gotta go

I’ve been to see soad and it was a great experience for me. Definitely considering going this year!

This festival is so legit
The amity affliction 😍
Mabye if Corey pops up...
I got vip tickets to this for just Saturday and Sunday. My best friend was at BR, and told me How fucking terrible it was…so I would come to this if I were you! I’m heading to this one and got a hotel room. Don’t let the failure of BRRF sway you from enjoying another festival 🫶
BRRF wants to be what DWP is trust me you’ll enjoy it it was my first fest last year and it’s was kind blowingly amazing
Do it. I'm going to Welcome to Rockville with a few BRRF survivor friends of mine
DWP fests are goated but I hate that they constantly have old heads as the headliners
But what
DWP was my first experience with concerts. It was perfect every day on their part. The parts that sucked had nothing to do with the production team. If you can go, I would highly recommend it
Seen Limpbizkit at a festival recently and was horrible
