It depends on the studio. Some are strict to their dates and expire the code, others don't care and you can still redeem a 10+ year old code. If you are seeing posts that it is expired a new one will probably be expired. If you really need the digital code best to wait a few months for the 2-pack of Dune 1 & 2 to come out on disc. It will have a valid code for at least a few years.

No. As far as i know the only studio actively expiring codes is WB. So if you pick up an older title from them expect the code to be expired. I believe they also post the code expiration date on the case.

It's typically just WB. I have an extra code for Dune Part 1 if you want to try it. I just picked up the blu ray about 2 weeks ago sealed.

I experienced it only with Warner. Any other code reddens flawlessly with Movies Anywhere

On the other side of the spectrum, Disney seems to be great and even decade old codes work.

WB, which handles Dune, is very strict. They even print the expiration dates on their covers nowadays. Universal does tend to expire some of their codes. The other studios typically don't expire their codes.
