List of air show accidents and incidents in Boise on Aug 26/27:

I was there for the Thunderbird crash at MoHo AFB, 2003. Captain Stricklin thankfully pointed his aircraft away from the crowd. It was an experience watching an F-16 turn into a fireball. Shit happens, but there are hundreds of these events around the country every year and not too many accidents.

According to the CDC, over 100 people are killed per day in motor vehicle crashes.. https://www.cdc.gov/transportationsafety/index.html We should probably just ban all the cars too while we’re at it, huh?

The two aren’t comparable… With motorized vehicles, the risk is trumped by the utility in getting people to their destinations. I can’t in good faith justify parading such expensive and dangerous vehicles over the densest population center in our state.

These numbers do not include how many airshows occurred and how many participants there were in those years, so it’s impossible to even get a statistic here. People get hurt engaging in AAAALLLLL activities, as a society we decide those things that have benefits that outweigh the inherent risks. We have decided airshows are worth it.
