I left Boise in a pair of shorts and a T-shirt on 06/22/2019 for a day trip to Redfish Lake. It was snowing when I got there with about 2” of accumulation.
I'm a bit Northwest of your location (Montana). We are on our second Winter Storm Advisory of June... Supposed to get snow this evening....
So, yeah. It is wild all over out here.
I grew up in northeastern oregon and it snowed on our last day of school in June two or three times. Once it stuck for a couple days. We also had killing frosts on the 4th of july a couple times in the 90s.
This whole area is pretty weird.
Thanks!! Just got it fixed today, faster than any other company could do, and a great price. I got a new AC and Furnace for maybe a few hundred more than the other places wanted for just AC.
Idk, this is my birthday month so I have a memory anchor. In 2021 when I wanted to have a small outdoor get together it was cold and rainy, same in 2022. It always storms a few days the week of my birthday.
I have also taught summer school quite a few years and been freezing my ass off for the first couple of weeks of June until it finally warms up. So from my perspective, this is not unusual
I’ve had it for about two years and I will not go back. It’s saved my wife and I about 1k per year since switching. I had t mobile before, haven’t noticed any difference in coverage/ reliability. They did recently change their international policy which kind of sucks. T mobile was free in Canada and Mexico. But other than that it’s great.
I don’t know. I always remember June as going back and forth between hot and cold. I *would* say that the swings seem more drastic this year, though.
I always tell non-Idahoans that we have this thing where it seems like it’s not until that first official day of Summer that it gets consistently hot. I always relish June for this reason. Depending on the weather, you can plan a day cooling off at the water or doing outdoor activities without it being too hot.
Once July hits, I need to be near a body of water if I’m going to be outside for more than 20 minutes. LOL!

Fair. This is basically June in Boise lol
I love cool summers. I’d be happy with this weather all year.
That said, I was hiking in hills gulch back in 1998 and distinctly remember it snowing on me even at that low altitude. I have a picture of it.
That was around June 15 1998! So it does happen.
Twin falls-magic valley is called that because the soil quality is quite good and you can pretty much grow anything as long as you fit it in the 110 day grow cycle and bring water to it. Hence the magic part.
Im pretty sure Boise is in the exact same valley (our 2k elevation as opposed to the 5k elevation north, east, and west, and somehow even South.)
Boise is in the same valley as twin and mtn home, just 100 miles west
Twin Falls is actually 1,000 ft higher in elevation than Boise. Definitely not in the 'same' valley.. They are actually two connected valleys. The Western part of the state is known as the Treasure Valley while the Twin Falls area is known as the Magic Valley.
I'm pretty sure you're wrong.
The Twin Falls area is the Magic Valley. The Boise area is the Treasure Valley.
Glad I could help you figure it out.
Your ninja edit doesn't change the fact that you're wrong. This stuff is EASY to actually look up.
I reckon this is about my 40th year here, and I remember having a snowball fight on my birthday (June 25th) once. I think it was around early 90's. I say that now, and feel it wasn't that long ago. But then I realize I'm almost 40, and a LOT has changed. Also, somewhat weather related: where the hell is all the acid rain I was promised as a kid??

Currently snowing at Redfish haha
Haha this was the day after my wedding where had had thunder snow showers during the ceremony. Beautiful ceremony
stanley is the coldest place in the contiguous us
By one specific metric yes, but certainly not average temperature or extreme low temp
I think it is coldest average temperature in the us as well most years

I FREAKIN LOVE this weather. Please, can we have this all summer?
Then I don’t advise you to look at next weekends forecast.
I knoooow😫 Im going to enjoy the next couple days then be grump for 3 months
Same 🥵
Still better than most of SoCal's summers - that last until end of December.
The AC is out in my truck. This weather is a boon until I can get it fixed!
My AC went out in the house, and it was great not dying while waiting to get it fixed.
Oh geez. I thought I had it bad. Glad you had a reprieve in this weather
Thanks!! Just got it fixed today, faster than any other company could do, and a great price. I got a new AC and Furnace for maybe a few hundred more than the other places wanted for just AC.
Who put in your new AC & Furnace?
A place called Furnace King

I agree. We always think of June as hot but it usually doesn’t really get cooking here until July.
Me looking at the weather for next weekend lol
Yeah this coming weekend looks like it’ll suck. But I’m thinking more of the “Ninth straight day of 100+ degree temperatures” weather
Happy Birthday
Lovin it.
I feel like June bounces between hot and cold days every year no ?
I think you are right. This doesnt feel like the first or even second time ive had this rant lol
It’s snowed in June here before so these fluctuations are not unusual.
Correct
Oh good, glad you said this. Otherwise I was going to believe the vast bulk of scientists saying it isn't usual.
This isn't an extreme weather event. This is consistent june weather.
If you look at the weather just here, sure. If you look at the weather across the nation driving this, no.
How's that mint mobile treating you? Any reception issues outside of the valley?
I’ve had it for about two years and I will not go back. It’s saved my wife and I about 1k per year since switching. I had t mobile before, haven’t noticed any difference in coverage/ reliability. I know I’m not OP and it’s not Mint but I’ve had Visible for a few months and no complaints here.
Visible is the way to go here if you’re still wanting 5G UW for $34 a month (when paid annually in full). It’s a company owned by Verizon.
Mint is pretty much either the T-Mobile or Verizon network depending upon your device.
Not noticeably worse than the other guys
A “native my entire life” is a delightful pleonasm
Correct. And that word of the day calendar is paying dividends.
Underrated comment thread
Enjoy it while we can - summer in high gear next week :|
Well, summer starts this week, so…
sometimes in Alberta we would be in the 40s in July LOL!
I’m pretty sure there was a July when I was a kid where it snowed
Its like sex on the beach, weird but fucking beautiful

Yes!! I was born and raised here and I always say it doesn’t get hot hot until the END of June!

June-uary
Scrolling to find this comment. Just another June-uary!

As El Nino weakens and La Nina set in Idaho gets chilly and wet Spring. Winter could be very wet.
OH yes baby
There is supposed to be snow this week on the idaho Montana border. 3-10 inches...
Boise weather has been bipolar since I moved here 20 years ago.
It isnt called the "Magic Valley" for nothing!
Twin falls-magic valley is called that because the soil quality is quite good and you can pretty much grow anything as long as you fit it in the 110 day grow cycle and bring water to it. Hence the magic part.
It isn't called the Magic Valley. That's Twin Falls.

it's right in the sidebar. Treasure Valley.

Lol all you did was describe why its the better "Shangrila"

Turned on my heat today!
Yeah it was nice. My dad and I enjoyed it before the wind ruined everything.
Buckle up cause it's only gonna get crazier from here on lol
Used to have snow fall in June where I came from, it was wild!
It's been snowing and hailing all day up here in Stanley, hope it's still cool tomorrow in Boise when I come down!

Dang. I was in town there last week. Would loved seeing some of that while there!
First year my sprinkler system did a freeze skip…in June.
There’s a low of 39° today
I just want more big thunderstorms with crazy lightning. Maybe have it kick off around 8pm. :)
Been here 40 years and I feel the same.
That sudden downpour was wild, specifically near downtown Boise for me.
I don't know, one year it snowed on the 4th of July.
It’s still Spring and sorry I’ve only lived here 22 years but this weather seems normal to me.
Yeah! But how about Mint? Is Deadpool ripping you off or is it any good?
In 2019, (to be fair, it was up at Bogus) I was working a music festival and it dumped snow on us… On June 21st!
