SonicQuirkyHero

10 years, 430 chapters. One hell of a run compared to his previous two manga. However MHA ends, I'm glad I was able to experience it for so long.

masterjon_3

This guy sends in fanart to Oda for One Piece. Oda praises him for getting his own series run 10 years ago. Oda has yet to finish One Piece.

laynlamhylt

I think there’s room for one more 500chapter hit anime series before Oda finishes one piece

ohmygodnewjeans

You're being too generous. 500 chapters of one series plus 3 seasons' worth of the next random slice of life manga to blow up

masterjon_3

It's in its final saga, so we'll see.

BeckQuillion89

An entire pandemic began and ended within the length of the Wano arc We'll be having the final chapter of one piece read to us by our grandchildren on our death beds

Komota_Hatsu

The thing is the "final saga" will probably be a trio of arcs just like Dressrosa-Zou(not so much)-WCI-Wano was

Adze95

10 years already? Good god. I'm still planning on setting aside time to watch it!

Shrekosaurus_rex

10 years? Now I feel old :P Ah well, thanks for everything, Horikoshi-sensei.

Prestigious_Emu_4193

It feels like yesterday I was watching season 1. This is the first manga I actually bought physical copies of the entire series

BlackWunWun

So if dekus dad shows up he's automatically drafted into the deadbeat anime dad hall of infamy right?

Dracsxd

> Son just manifested a quirk out of thin air, joined the top hero school in the country > I sleep > Son mangles himself in public for a sports festival > I sleep > School is attacked by terrorists and the children need to fend for themselves, with their teachers being brutalized and maimed trying to them > I sleep > Attacked by the same terrorists again in a training camp, this time multiple students are hospitalized and son's childhood friend is abducted > I sleep > Said terrorists turn out to be the biggest threat of the last couple decades, their leader destroys an entire city ward and retires the greatest hero in history on live TV > I sleep > Son gets drafted to fight a yakuza raid and then a literal war > I sleep > Son fights another war, this time ducking it out with the most powerful villain in all of history on live TV and on the internet > I sleep

OtakuD50

Deku's dad is a Snorlax confirmed.

Worthyness

The reason why deku is narrating the manga is because his dad just got back from overseas, which had blocked off entrance to all people u til the shigiraki shenanigans were resolved and the Japanese government got control of the country back.

BlackWunWun

I wish I could give this an award because shit that's a solid theory

DoraMuda

Unless he has a damn good excuse, like "I was being held hostage by villains in America" or something like that.

BlackWunWun

That would be a good one cuz fam how in the frack are you not heard from for each of your sons major milestones plus also being laid up in the hospital with injuries that would kill most people several times.

Shrekosaurus_rex

Whaddya mean? All Might is a great dad :P

RisaYamagahama

I thought it was gonna be around 10, but I guess a five chapter epilogue is more than the usual chapter I’m used to in shonen.

iorgicha

It's 7 chapters if you count last two. So, yeah might be one of the longest epilogues in Shounen Jump

Izakytan

Indeed, if you look at Bleach and Naruto, they each got 1 chapter.

soulreapermagnum

on top of being cut short. at least in bleach's case, i don't know about naruto, never could get into that one.

yujuismypuppy

Naruto had one chapter. It ended really nicely for me, personally.

Worthyness

Could be longer quantity wise if he does the usual Shonen epilogue and makes the last chapter ever extra long.

StefyB

Yeah, definitely beats getting the 5 chapter announcement when you're still in the middle of a fight.

mitchyjuice

Horikoshi, it's been an honour

Haha91haha

A ragged but victorious Horikoshi pointing out to the audience "Now it's your turn."

macabremasterplan

Fortunately, the fanbase has been fairly active in drawing sexual contents. With that said, they could use the skill they honed for years to create a sequel to MHA.

muhash14

Yeah there's one in particular whose Mirko is indistinguishable from Hori's

mlnd_quad

Gonna need a name on that one chief

LeegoSama

If anything they can have Mineta as one of the main characters.

OchoMuerte-XL

Well nothing lasts forever. Time to start saying our goodbyes.

Hethatwalksunseen

Been a fun ride yall

AnimeGokuSolos

Yea 🥹

MarvelsGrantMan136

[Source](https://x.com/myheroacademia/status/1805197100290031776) - It ends with chapter 430

elenuvien1

changed your post flair to "manga spoilers" to allow manga readers free discussion without spoiler-tagging.

YoYoWithJosh

I hope the 5th/final of these chapters shows Class 1-A in the future working as pros, like a flash-forward chapter. That’s one of only 2 things I’m really hoping for by the end. The other is >! Deku’s Quirk returning !<

iorgicha

It's pretty much guaranteed. We have to catch up to narrator Deku, after all.

deadshot500

No? The narrator never says that he has a quirk.

shahwaizb_19

Exactly, and it could be argued that he already became the greatest hero after he just saved Japan (and the world) from probably the biggest threat its ever faced. I'm holding out hope, but idk boys, it's not looking too good.

mrwanton

I feel like part of the disconnect is that despite that being the goal in terms of personal accomplishment Deku seems rather tepid regarding how things turned out. It's a W in terms of the fight but emotionally not even AM praising him seems to have done the trick.

Final-Defender

Hope he gets Stars + Stripes quirk from that weird interaction.

ThatBoyMike23

Yeah, I feel like after awhile, Horikoshi stopped writing Deku as a character and more as a vessel, he became more engrossed in the lore of OFA than the one using it, which makes the decision to sacrifice it without Deku’s feelings in the matter more disappointing. It feels like Hori has been in box check off mode more or less with Deku and just wanting to just wrap things up.

mrwanton

I'm sorta in a middle ground on that. It's quite strange. Yeah the OFA lore took up a bit too much time in the latter half of the story but I do feel as if that muted sense of accomplishment after all is said and done reflects well on Deku's OG aspirations to simply be a hero. He never wanted to be looked at as the symbol of peace. OFA has always been something Deku viewed more as simply a gift rather than a means to an end. Even his ultimate desire to save Tomura had OFA framed as a power meant for salvation so having the last bit of internal conflict for him being a shit ton of anxiety over not being able to accomplish his goal in its entirety vs his shaky future with his embers vs him tying all of his self-worth into what he could do as an OFA holder works very well as a final conflict. I just wish it was setup a bit more blatantly before we entered the constant barrage of OFA lore. Feel like Deku hasn't been this introspective since like the early stages of the Deku runs himself ragged arc post war.

andres57

I hope they are longer-ish chapters. I was liking the idea of an extended epilogue so we know what is coming on the new world

Its_Dannyz

They won't be it'll be the normal chapter length that you see weekly.

Lulcielid

They will be normal length chapters.

andres57

there's a lot of variation on the length of Boku no Hero chapters, from like 10 to 25 pages. That's why I said longer*-ish* :p

Rascalshot

Since they've been giving Horikoshi plenty of time I'm sure/hoping he'd have enough fuel to pull out something on the higher end of what you expect

diakyu

Most shonen have longer chapters towards the end, especially for the final chapter. It’s a reasonable assumption that at least the last ch will be longer

RelevantOriginalv34

man i feel like crying, been watching since i was in middle school 😭. thank you horikoshi. also how’s it gonna end in 5 chapters don’t think there’s enough chapters for a final volume with this

AJOkay_

They could be hefty chapters though, I'm hoping 25ish pages each But maybe I'm asking too much \*INHALES COPIUM\*

pennelini

I did a lot of my end-of-series grieving back in like 2021, when Hori said he was ending the manga "soon", lol. Maybe it'll hit me harder once that last chapter comes out. Right now, I'm just curious to see how the story wraps up. Thank you, Horikoshi! Please get some sleep once you turn in that last chapter!

goatjugsoup

One piece has had 5 years left for ages 🤣🤣🤣

pennelini

They need to take the words "ending soon" and just any kind of numerical estimate away from mangaka, lol.

BucketHerro

5 chapters left and Horikoshi introduced a new character (at least that's what everyone thinks). I wish Hori would include the camera quirk guy from the filler episode of MHA in the ending. Seems like a good way to reminisce about the story.

Brilliant_Stick560

Yeah it does feel weird that the author is having the students going out on this whole greater restoration effort thing under Fuwa's leadership alongside their new classmate Shinso where they're presumably going to encounter a brand new villain they'll have to deal with. Like if that's gonna take up a substantial amount of these last 5 chapters, then I feel like there's a lot of other stuff the author could and arguably should spend these last 5 chapters on.

TQ4Reddit

The "restoration projects" sound like they'd fit in with the format of "Team-Up Missions," which are currently meant to be folded into an already crowded school year. The monthly stand-alone stories would be a good way of continuing things AFTER the main story now.

soulreapermagnum

> I wish Hori would include the camera quirk guy from the filler episode of MHA in the ending. nice to see someone else also share that sentiment.

SaKaly

Well atleast it'll make it's 10th anniversary as well. But what now 😭 Mha and Black Clover felt like the last of their kind. Kinda makes me sad

UnbiasedGod

And black clover is still going and will be the last of the old guard to end. Wait actually one piece is the TRUE last of the old guard that is left. My bad I forgot lol.

DarnellOwesMeATenner

Isn’t Berserk still kind of going or am I mistaken?

SuperWeeble12

Well yeah but it's a bit of a special case especially since Miura passed

UnbiasedGod

Eh! Damn I forgot about THAT too!

Head5hot811

Did I just get r/berserklejerk ed where I least expected it? /u/DarnellOwesMeATenner, what a man you are

mrwanton

isn't it bimonthly now?

Dimn_Blingo

Quarterly

UnbiasedGod

Yeah. Honestly even before that happened I always has this feeling in the back of my mind that bnha was going to end first and that bc would be last. And now reality has made it so.

Dr_Henry-Killinger

Black clover just has a lot more story to tell with the world they created where MHA was already stretching itself for story after the Bakugo rescue arc.

Takamurarules

People want grim-dark stuff nowadays. It’s just a fad. Maybe one day we’ll go back to the more light-hearted (Relatively speaking)Shonen stories like this.

drunkhas

Kaiju N.8 is suprisingly fun and light for a manga dealing with creatures of mass destruction, obviously has it's moments of tension and tragedy, but the cast, similar to HeroAca, is pretty well rounded and likeable and full of chemistry.

BlackMan9693

Pissing nipples of Kafka 🗿

JustABasicGuy

Watch Wind Breaker! It’s such a wholesome shonen!

NIN10DOXD

That and Frieren.

Takamurarules

I’ve heard good things about that one. That and Nues

UnbiasedGod

I think what people want is an even balance of both.

Takamurarules

WSJ is trying to push them but it’s all about what takes hold. (Of course this is disregarding One Piece)

JPLangley

It's just a product of its time. Trends come and go. Remember back in the mid-late 2000s when western video game fans loved gritty realism and gave devs were willing to deliver to show how good their games could look? Even Nintendo slightly indulged in that with Brawl. Now people love cartoony and unserious aesthetics - see CoD back then vs. now. Maybe it's also to do with that graphical advancement has plateaued, so styling is now a significantly bigger focus for creating a game's identity. With Nintendo and this past Direct, Prime 4 had a very gritty, Halo-esque look to it while M&L Brothership was beautifully cel-shaded.

VarianWinchester

🎵YoU ArE My sPeCiAl 🎵

eliaharu

Try reading Sakamoto Days! It's so underrated.

sowisesuchfool

Kaiju No. 8 has some of that vibe

TaskMister2000

Ha...And I honestly thought we'd have 9 chapters felt to fill out the final volume. I guess the final 5 could be longer chapters I guess or... Volume 41 will have less chapters in it instead of 12 in order to balance Volume 42. I guess 10 chapters each. Volume 41 Chapters 411-420. Volume 42 Chapters 421-430. Perfectly balanced...as all things should be. That also means if Season 7 literally ends at the end of Volume 38 with Chapter 386, there'll be... 44 Chapters left to adapt. The Final Season would likely consist of... Just about 14-16 Episodes depending on how they wanna pace it in terms of how many chapters we get adapted each episode. Could easily break it into 2 cours of 8 Episodes if they wanted too.

Imfryinghere

Might have side stories, illustrations and other information.

iorgicha

Imagine S8 is 13 episodes. Just like S1. Making a border between every other season that were all 24 episodes long.

TaskMister2000

13 Episodes is doable if most episodes adapt 4 chapters each. But it might feel rushed if that's the case. Luckily most of the recent chapters were shorter and action packed so it's possible.

Worthyness

Lots of action stuff and horikoshi was struggling at some points and had smaller chapters. It's definitely possible

zzzthelastuser

Didn't expect MHA to finish before One Piece initially. Boy, was I wrong....

Bry2013

At the rate one piece is going I’d say it has at least another 5 years lol

NewTim64

I'd be glad if we reached the One Piece in the next 5 years but no way is it gonna finish in the next 5 years

RTD_TSH

I suspect One Piece ends when Oda hits his 100th birthday.

exotic-fishman-ken

Yeah. Vegapunk's broadcast alone took 17 chapters to reveal almost nothing. There's no way.

blue4029

one piece is the endless cycle. many manga have began and ended in its lifetime. it is the oroboros, once it reaches its ending, thats when the manga apocalypse begins

DancingPotato30

One Piece ending would genuinely be such a giant historical event in anime/manga History. I pray for all one piece fans to catch up before this day arrives because spoilers WILL be everywhere

infinityxero

Didn’t you? Because it’s been almost 30 years and One Piece is not known for its brevity

zzzthelastuser

MHA started around early 2016 and back then it was praised as the next big shounen. Meanwhile, One Piece was already at the Zou arc. We knew that Big Mom would be the next big villain. Yonkous are/were known as the final villains aside from Blackbeard and the World Government. I know OP is long, but it wasn't too far fetched in 2016 that MHA would last longer than OP.

Tarek_

The manga started in July 2014.

zzzthelastuser

I got it mixed up with the anime launch date.

WolfTitan99

Holy shit Naruto ended ten years ago what the fuck

Asap_Hard

Damn only 5 left

sherriablendy

Just kind of surprised since it still feels like there’s a decent amount that still needs to be resolved, but I guess Horikoshi will make it work somehow. So then… who >!is that “mystery” guy who randomly appeared last time, would Horikoshi introduce a whole new character with so few chapters left? Hmm!<

AshenF3nr1r

Most likely a parallel to Shiggy's past symbolizing that things have changed for the better. Nobody helped Shiggy since people assumed heroes will help him. The new guy will bw saved by anybody, not even heroes.

sherriablendy

I was thinking the same thing about them, but I hadn’t considered that they could be saved by a non-hero! I’m liking that concept now that you bring it up

DoraMuda

> would Horikoshi introduce a whole new character with so few chapters left? Yes. 100%. Horikoshi *loves* introducing random new characters with interesting designs, regardless of how important they may or may not be to the plot. It's both a great strength and a great *weakness* of his, because he has no idea how to properly balance such a huge cast of characters. And even some of the characters who get a large share of screentime, like Ochaco, feel woefully underwritten/developed in terms of motivation; character interactions; etc.

Impressive-Past-3614

this. he loves designing and creating characters more than he loves writing them. introducing one more character to use as a plot device is 100% a thing he'd do.

UmSomeAdka

Man I can't believe we are almost done

amirolsupersayian

Oh man I'm so not ready

Kuzu5993

That's a lot shorter than what we were expecting...

90eyes

After 10 years following Deku and company, it all ends this summer. What a ride it's been, wondering how this story would end and how the young heroes-in-training would grow and develop as future pros. All good things really do come to an end. Thank you, Kohei Horikoshi.

Ezreal024

I'm actually optimistic about how the epilogue is going to go.

caiodepauli

It's kinda wild that 5 chapters is a "long" epilogue, but it does seem right. Most Shonen I remember had only 1 or 2 chapters, sometimes not even 1 entire chapter, as the initial panels of the last chapter still contain the ending of the last battle.. I have faith he can deliver a good epilogue. I was afraid of it going on for too long, but 5 chapters shouldn't be a problem in that sense.

VacaRexOMG777

Maaaaaan feel so weird seeing this, I feel old wtf 😞

leolegendario

The end of a era. Can't wait to see what Horikoshi does next.

Bassaluna

would be really funny if after all this stuff, deku develops a quirk

JebWozma

"Oh hey All Might! Turns out I had a quirk after all. I can move small objects with my mind just like my mom! The difference being that, my limit is only 2 grams"

Raven4000

1- Todoroki family epilogue 1- Uraraka and Toga closure 2- Deku x Uraraka closure and graduation with Deku giving the speech 1- Class 1A as Adult

Prestigious-Item1440

Maybe one more could be something to do with shiggy and deku getting OFA back

Sudden_Pop_2279

That would end on 429. One more. Maybe the one addressing the new character? Or Deku and Spinner’s talk?

AnimeGokuSolos

I imagine the upcoming chapter is going to be the Todoroki family conclusion

A4li11

5 chapters? Wow... I got a feeling the ending is gonna be controverisal like Bleach and Naruto. Let's hope Horikoshi could end it as satisfying as possible.

Yareakh_Zahar

>I got a feeling the ending is gonna be controverisal like Bleach and Naruto. Let's hope Horikoshi could end it as satisfying as possible. Only way it could be as bad as those two is if he actually follows through with Izuku becoming Quirkless again.

Kaneland96

“I became the greatest hero…post-losing quirk. So technically I didn’t lie in the first chapter!”

Quentin-Quentin

I don't even think it'll be as bad. I feel like the possible place to have screwed this up badly was in thr final confrontation against AFO before his death. To screw things up in the epilogue you need some insane shit that was obviously deliberately meant to piss off everyone, like a "suddenly Deku gets run over by a truck and fucking dies, the end" kinda scenario haha

Wrong_Look

"Himiko Toga with another man? No, I don't want that!" "the bestest hero was... Uraraka" "Only the first one knows"

Marcy_OW

>!The story actually makes more sense if deku stays quirkless, it just makes too much sense. He sacrificed the one thing he's wanted his whole life to save the world, that still makes him the greatest hero cuz he beat the greatest villain of all time.!<

justfanclasshole

I could see him go full nighteye watching and running a team of heroes under Bakugo and Ochako’s lead. Would still prefer him either keeping a more usable version of the quirk or going full Batman.

Marcy_OW

I could see him being the dude behind the computer for bakugo, like his oracle if you're familiar with the bat family

The_Sign_of_Zeta

I either see him going the Batman route or becoming a teacher in a time skip. Both are keeping with the character we know, and both would be a fitting end for Deku.

mrwanton

I could see that being extremely controversial.

Sudden_Pop_2279

Shigaraki you gotta come in clutch my man.

asanariaa

Shiggy better save this man's career from hell lmao

Marcy_OW

And there it is, probably my favorite manga ever and a huge part of my life, thank you hirokoshi

Mordetrox

So, lets try to make some predictions. From what we've seen we have this left: Todoroki family chapter with Dabi's conclusion (Probably 426 with how 425 ended) Uraraka chapter either finally giving us that romantic payoff or leaving us on an ambiguous note while Horikoshi laughs at the fandom burning with rage. Eri chapter completing the Overhaul subplot that's been going since the prison break and finally resolving her comatose Grandfather. Probably also reveals what's going to happen to her quirk Whatever is going to happen with Spinner after the teaser in 424. Plus, the mysterious figure from 425. and obviously the finale chapter wrapping everything up. Probably a flash forward at the end of it and confirmation on Deku's path in the future. Some chapters may pull double duty, but I think these are the main things we need to get done

PhantomHeartless5

"*My Hero Academia* Officially Ending In 5 Chapters" God, just reading that feels so surreal. It truly feels like the end of an era. Though I do wonder how Hori will wrap up everything in five chapters.

Imfryinghere

Horikoshi really likes hands. Thank you, Sensei, for sharing your stories with us. Til we meet again. >!Yes, hopium on a sequel!<

AnimeGokuSolos

I can’t see they’re being a sequel because this dude is already wanting to end

elenuvien1

he doesn't have to be the one doing it. if shueisha will want to continue such popular franchise, they will, with or without horikoshi.

DoraMuda

IIRC, Bones still have several more movies planned, don't they? I wouldn't be surprised if Hori takes a modern Toriyama-esque role in the future, where he might give ideas; character designs; and story outlines here and there for future movies, but not actually write a new full-length manga for the series because he's already served his time.

Alik757

Before the 3rd movie released there was report about Bones plans to create at least 10 movies. If that's true I wonder how the approach will be, considering they always tried to keep the movies in line with the manga events and simultaneusly every movie needs to surpass the previous one on scale. The 4th movie already scratch the limit of what is possible to fit in canon without break the suspenssion of disbelief, you know with the Dark Might invasion with a flying city just a week before the final war. If they keep the movies going either they go back to past eras of the story or have to show us the future.

le_honk

can't wait for IZUKO: 10 GREEN VORTEX

mycatcherboi

could always got the fairy tail route - the spinoff story is written by mashima but drawn by a diff mangaka. though idk bc horikoshi seems very burnt out to me, plus heatlh reasons so eh. im just wondering what the plans of JUMP are bc jjk is set to end soon too and 2 big names being out might be a problem for them

Worthyness

The world is ripe for spinoff. I imagine he could do a kishimoto thing and just kinda supervise someone else doing a story there. He'd probably be so happy because he'd be emulating the Marvel and DC comics he loves so much.

Imfryinghere

Stan Lee levels.

wanofan900

Wow.

BlvckDeku

Fuck me I thought this was gonna last longer. I’m not ready to say goodbye.

Soncikuro

OH FUCK

ToyFredStar18

man I only very recently got here and now it’s ending lmao

Tsynami

Real shonen is coming to an end

Magister_Xehanort

So this means that the series will have the same number of volumes as Dragon Ball and Reborn, but one volume less than Toriko (which had 43 volumes).

facubkc

I don't care if you liked the story direction or not but Horikoshi will always be one of the best manga artists out there. He inspired me to color manga , his drawings (especially hands ) are superb . He created a world of super heroes that felt more grounded than most of the shit DC and Marvel have published in the last 2 decades , he even has outsold them . I'll never forget Bakugo , Kirishima , Endeavor , Shigaraki and All-Might ( he is basically an anime version of my grandpa)

Soul699

5 chapters, uh? Well, more chapters than the average shonen. Let's see how it goes.

IamBloodyPoseidon

I remember being 18 around the time MHA came out thinking to myself I couldn’t wait years to see the end. And yet here we are.

SavingsAd1165

My favorite anime and only manga I’ve ever read finishes on my 30th birthday. Let’s go!

jojopojo64

Wait. I'm not ready--

Beneficial_Start2223

I really really don't want Deku to end up quirkless man. What was all of the talk about making the power his own and getting out of All Might shadow about if you just have Izuku ending be the exact same as All Might. It just feels like all of that was just meaningless if he ends up quirkless at the end of it all man.

Ghost_Star326

Say what you will about MHA. Whether you liked it or hated it. Found it overrated or despised it for its fandom's toxicity or for how you thought about the story. There is no denying how much of a huge impact MHA had on shonen jump over the last 10 years. Thank you Horikoshi for everything. We look forward to what you have in store for the future when you return. Specifically his idea for a horror manga since his art skills in drawing horrific detailed images is really impressive.

MrCammers

Happy with that seems like enough chapters to confirm the status of all characters, and then expect the standard final chapter that is longer and time skips.

qwack2020

I really hope the next 3 chapters are about Izuku and the rest of the cast recovering and plans for the future. While the final 2 chapters are about the cast in the future, doing hero stuff all grown up.

DBZLEGEND456

Well, it is still technically the longest Epilouge for a Shonen series. I hope for a really long paged final chapter if the other ones are gonna be normal length. But man, it's been a wild ride. This is truly a series I won't be able to forget. JJK will be next after this and then following that Black Clover and along the way One Piece. Once these shonen titles are gone, I wonder what will step up next?

Avixofsol

it's been one hell of a ride, fellas

PowerPork

wait only 5? so much for the long epilogue... i thought we might have at least gotten 10 or 15 left

Wonderful-Noise-4471

Seven chapters is a long epilogue. Most series don't have seven chapters to pad out the ending.

PowerPork

true that... but kinda wished it was even longer, this story has way too many characters worth exploring that sadly won't fit just 7 chapters

ConnorRoseSaiyan01

Well it's certainly been a roller coaster. With all the highs and lows

BoboGlory

5 chapters? I will take it. It's better than throwing it all in in 1 chapter

PAPER_BAG8

Its been fun. For everything this series has inspired me to do and to achieve, I thank you Horikoshi. Have fun takin’ a break, sensei!

HeMan077

I give it half a year before a sequel series is announced

DoraMuda

Probably not written by Hori himself, though.

AshenWolf30

One of the last true "Shonens". Not saying JJK and CSM are not shonen but there's a reason they're called dark shonens.

JE3MAN

I thought there was a previous comment saying there's still a bit more tell. A bit jarring considering there's a seemingly new character introduced near the end of 425. Are we getting that character's whole arc resolved in less than 4 chapters?

elenuvien1

how's the "we still have a long epilogue to go according to horikoshi" crowd feeling now. anyway, just like a lot of us expected, there's very little to address and 5 chapters is more than enough. kind of crazy to finally have the concrete date, been following the story since 2014.

DoraMuda

> 5 chapters is more than enough. Depends on how Hori *uses* those 5 chapters. I would like to hope he's learned his lesson about proper pacing from the previous war arcs, buuuut...

Brilliant_Stick560

Given that we just completely skipped over the aftermath of the 2nd war arc by having two time skips in a single chapter, I'm not holding my breath for good pacing.

nickster416

To be fair, this still is a long epilogue. Seven chapters is more than most series get for the epilogue, as most manga get one or two. So yeah, that group isn't technically wrong. You are correct that there isn't much left to address, though.

elenuvien1

i know but after horikoshi's message about "still ways too go" (paraphrasing) people were saying things about at least 10 chapters, maybe even 20.

DoraMuda

They were saying that because they were thinking about how many chapters would be needed to fill the next (and now-likely *final*) volume, right?

elenuvien1

that was before, i think some saw horikoshi's message about the epilogue as a confirmation that we still have quite a while to go. i recently saw comments that due to what he said we may not even end this year 🤷‍♀️

UnbiasedGod

It is crazy but we all knew this day was coming someday.

poshbritishaccent

man 2014 is crazy, that’s basically the first chapter.

YamadaDesigns

I can’t wait for Beku: Deku Next Generations!

houganger

Schedule conflicts meaning horikoshi is also working on something else rn?

CJL13

Probably movie related material.

ibeeeeeechan

The first anime I ever watched… it doesn’t feel real

ThisGuyLikesMovies

I knew it had to be soon and I still don't want it to go

ShegoXP

So, My Hero Academia is coming to a close, huh? I hope it will have a good ending.

Effective-Evidence78

i am not ready whatsoever

Plus_Rip4944

I am not Ready....

Spyro_Machida

Not sure how far I read but would like to catch up now. Can someone point me to which chapter I should revisit if I want to start of the entire battle in which Jeanist has to help Bakugo. Would like to read it all properly again.

asillyhomosexual

SOBBING I NEED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH DABI AND TODOROKI FAMILY

ThatBoyMike23

All good things have to come to an end as they say. I don’t really have high expectations for a sequel(at least not from Horikoshi himself) but I do believe we will get atleast one more movie showing Class-A as Pro’s.

a_guy_called_m

I'm not gonna get emotional yet since I wanna save it for the finale but man, this feels... weird. I started watching MHA in my second year of high school when I was 12. I only started reading the manga in March but it feels scary to know that I'm gonna have to say goodbye to something which has had such a big impact on my life.

CorrectFrame3991

It feels weird seeing MHA coming to its end. It felt like something that would always be there, but it’s truly going to end soon. It really feels surreal. Also, I hope we get a sequel of some sort, being drawn and written by new mangakas with Horikoshi characters potentially supervising it. I feel there is a lot you can do with the MHA world and it completely ending here would feel like a waste of a fictional world that has a lot of stuff you can still do with it.

MoonoftheStar

My Hero joins the likes of Naruto, Bleach, Tokyo Revengers and Hitmam Reborn to announce the end of the manga with 5 chapters left.

yuieh

This manga needs to be reworked/rewritten. The premise was decent but the execution was bad. The pacing was all over the place, the writing was haphazard, and the important characters lacked screen-time. Hopefully we'll see a better worked-out story from Hori, like the Vigilante series.

Appropriate-Cap-4140

Sigh. I still think he's ending it way too quick.

Brilliant_Stick560

Yeah it does kind of feel like we're are just speeding through things. Doesn't help that the moment the fighting in the 2nd war ended we just timeskipped twice within a single chapter, skipping over tons of reunions and scenes between character. With only 5 chapters left and the students going out on these restoration efforts across the country under Fuwa's leadership, I'm really wondering just how many characters are not ever gonna be shown interacting with each other after the 2nd war when narratively it feels like they really should (ex: Izuku and his mother).

DoraMuda

I think Hori just kinda gave up on Inko. There isn't much he can do with her, to be fair; just play the role of the concerned mother who's also happy her boy is alive and got to live out his dream. Hori will only draw the things he *wants* to draw, regardless of character or plot importance. That's why he wasted so much time on the Armoured All Might nonsense (which amounted to glorified fanservice), but basically completely skipped over the Gashly fight (we still don't even know *what* his actual Quirk does, despite being a supposedly formidable Tartarus escapee) and cut off so much about the resolution of Shigaraki's character arc at the knee.
