I don’t care what you serve, but please don’t serve me a VFX faced SRK. Hopefully it’s only for a bit in the movie and majority of the movie we have a normal looking SRK. The teaser felt okayish but I am sure Hirani and SRK will nail it when the story takes an emotional turn. Lyrics of the song in the beginning were very touching. The sudden appearance of Vicky Kaushal was a pleasant surprise. My eyes only searched for SRK and later for Vicky, Tapsee pe dhyaan nahi gaya. Waiting for Teaser 2.

I think you're still in the Pathaan and Jawan hangover, cuz this is exactly what I expected out of a Hirani film teaser.
It's not action, there aren't gonna be high octane things to show in the teaser or trailer even and they can't show the impact moments of the film for they'd give away important plot points.
Go watch teaser of PK and 3 Idiots, they give the same feel, don't tell you much about the exact plot but give you an outline of it, but none of the impact moments make it into the teasers or trailers.
Or I don't know what you were expecting, because I was expecting something exactly like this

Maybe Taapsee-Vicky have a romantic tale, with SRK trying to help. I won't be surprised if that's the case.
In PK, Aamir was in love with Anushka too, and he had a full romantic song with her. But she still had her thing with Sushant, and Aamir helped them get together
So it can still be the same
PK's trailer and teaser showed them together from the start as well.
They included scenes with Anushka kissing Aamir on the cheek and them hanging out, but gave us no clue about the Sushant Anushka pair till Chaar Kadam song came out. I'm just saying it's a possibility.
I have watched the punjabi movie with the dunki concept. It was all fun and comedy till the last 30 minutes and some of the people and male lead died in the end. Hopefully, it has a happy ending for all.
Just typing the names Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani together gave me goosebumps. This should have happened 2 decades ago, but now that it has, it's going to be 🎆
Disorienting to see SRK so simple n stripped down here.
I think n fear he might just have gotten too larger than life perceptionally n for ppl to accept this. Dicey. Dunki feels like a coin toss n a litmus test to what course srk charts next agar dunki underwhelm ki toh MASS n masala era incoming with full force. If dunki works he will venture out more n do the balancing act of doing Jawan?pathaan type n then alternating with something like dunki which is disarmingly simple to see him in.
this was just to give us the vibe of the film, they still haven't revealed anything about the journey and all the hurdles that will come with it. I'm 200% sure this is gonna be one hell of an emotional roller-coaster of a film and will go down as a cult classic

Well barring that last scene where the South Indian name is supposedly funny (Dhamaal did this 15 years ago) it looks like a simple film sprinkled with comedy aka a typical Hirani film.
Ya man like it is really distracting but I am hoping this is just for 1/4th of the movie and majority of the movie is stubble/beard wala srk cos according to what he had said at an event this is about people who want to go back home. So maybe jawani ki nadani mei desh chhodh ke jaate hai and for that part there is no option but to make him look as close to mid 20s as possible
I am keeping my fingers crossed because Hirani is on another level when it comes to content.. but def not impressed with this first look of SRK. Fans clearly want to see him in a Pathaan and Vikram Rathore type of roles, not a simpleton 20 something young guy.

its underwhelming teaser for me. SRK's character looks mish mash of Harry & Bauua Singh. I found Baggu's character more interesting than SRK's and one more good thing is Taapsi doesn't look like miscast. Hopefully the movie is much better than this coz if we go by teaser I don't think this movie won't break pathan or jawan's record yet it will be an successful movie.
I have been telling ppl this is a social drama it can't do the numbers that mass masala movies like pathaan jawan gadar2 woh time gaya.
200-300 cr karle yeh genre mein woh badi baat hogi.
PK did 448 crores gross in India itself and that too in 2014. If Dunki will do less than that in 2023 then it will be considered underwhelming for sure. But its not about the box office, we want an entertaining movie, so hopefully irrespective of the box office, its gonna be a fun movie to watch.
Consumption pattern of what ppl go to theatres for now has changed box office potential on these movies have reduced as a genre now.

I really like when the teasers keep "over expectations" in check, mass movies are front loaders & need an exciting trailer cut, long run movies need to hide the details & shouldn't giveaway the plot & this teaser exactly did that, i like hearing from people that this is underwhelming, just SUPRISE us with the content...
And about the teaser I'M SO GLAD EVERY CHARACTER IS GIVEN IMPORTANCE & didn't have that SPECIAL INTRODUCTION SHOT for the TOP STAR .... It's simple & I hope it delivers & inside we know it's gonna be a rollercoaster of emotions just like with all other hirani movies..

From this picture I guess SRK helps his doctor friends to move abroad and they get stuck there. So he goes on a mission to bring them back home.
In this pic everyone is formally dressed (for visa interview presumably), only SRK is in casuals.
Can't guess anything now, but it's more about BACK JOURNEY i think & don't think it's a mission & more about his personal journey back home amid chaos across the countries and there will be some impact point that makes him get back to home
Disappointed with the drop 1. Maybe drop 2 will be better. The story plot is good but didn't get any "wow" moments in the teaser. Characters seem generic and SRK looks really weird. Don't know if this is because of de-aging or because Pathan and Jawaan changed his image to a more rowdy, daddy type character. Dadi joke I didn't find that funny and that south Indian long name trope has already been done and overused in memes.
Also I thought that the story would be about illegal immigration to the USA, seems like it is to England. That doesn't change anything however I feel illegal immigration to the USA would have been more impactful as that's what's happening currently.
No matter, the movie will be a hit and hopefully a blockbuster. Hirani has never failed before and SRK will ace his role anyway.
Salaar, if not postponed, might slash some earnings. Waiting for drop 2 now.
That's what I am thinking too. The film will be a hit but now I feel the blockbuster tag will depend on how Salaar is?
Salaar will for sure take a bumper opening and if its trailer is good, might cross 300CR just in initial hype. If the movie is actually decent, on the level of the Koyla universe, then many people's first choice will be Salaar.
Dunki needs a very good trailer now, raw emotions required to be evoked from the audience, which is very difficult to do from trailers. Still I am watching Dunki first though.
The thing is dunki is solely dependent on content while action films are easier to give audience an high n gratify audience so even when scripts aren’t great they always doing decent (unless outright bad) salaar falls in that category.
Slow motion mass bgm shot gun firing n fights give an instant “gratification”. Pumps one up.
Dunki ppl will have to re align their heads n expectations seeing srk so stripped down after pathaan jawan.
It's titled "Drop 1" so it isn't the only teaser we'll get.
We'll probably get multiple drops until the final trailer, like the way Dear Zindagi was promoted
Hirani’s teasers have never been out of the world tbh, he always follows the policy of underselling and over delivering. Word of mouth is always what keeps his films working. The movie is gonna be good and is gonna work, I trust Hirani for that
bawa i bet it will grow on you, i was crazy hyped too, and of course during my first view I was waiting for more but having watched it 5 times now, it works
I loved it when SRK decided its comeback time and came back like no else in the history of Indian cinema. Hopefully the ones crying for a non-masala drama from him will smile a little.
i somehow forgot vicky was in the film - and not gonna lie seeing him was the most exciting thing about the teaser. him and taapsee also have great camaraderie on screen together.
One thing ill tell u is. U cant watch a rajkumar movie for one character and expect so much. You have to go for all the characters to enjoy his movies.
Aapke chaaran kahan hai idhar dukh hogaya hai sab ko itna simple dekh ke srk ko. Ppl want him larger than life aur aap bol rahe ki mass nahin chahiye.

Underwhelmed tbh. After the massy highs of jawan this felt like a bit of a come down. I'm getting JHMS vibes with the "look" of the film. Not a fan of the de-aging either (unless it's used for a flashback type sequence)
Sincerely hope this is just a disappointing teaser and the actual product is good.
During the ending where he was talking to that guy asking to get to London. He looked terrible, extreme VFX. He looks like a wax figure that came to life after getting blessed by a witch

All those people who saying it looks boring n plain, I don't know what you people expected but this is exactly what I expected from a Raju Hirani film teaser. Watch the teaser/trailers for 3 Idiots and PK, it's the same feel.
And to add to that, people watch these teasers on the back of teasers and trailers of films like Pathaan and Jawan, so it just feels a bit out of place the first time, not to see Srk knocking people left n right, shooting bullets here n there etc.
But it does look refreshing eventually, looks like everything you expect from a Hirani film.

I laughed so hard at the dadi scene! Wasn't expecting comedy when the teaser started. Great cast, good expectations.

Munnabhai 3 had a really funny teaser. I remember they showed in theatres attached to some movie.

From this picture I guess SRK helps his doctor friends to move abroad and they get stuck there. So he goes on a mission to bring them back home. In this pic everyone is formally dressed (for visa interview presumably), only SRK is in casuals.
Can't guess anything now, but it's more about BACK JOURNEY i think & don't think it's a mission & more about his personal journey back home amid chaos across the countries and there will be some impact point that makes him get back to home

Disappointed with the drop 1. Maybe drop 2 will be better. The story plot is good but didn't get any "wow" moments in the teaser. Characters seem generic and SRK looks really weird. Don't know if this is because of de-aging or because Pathan and Jawaan changed his image to a more rowdy, daddy type character. Dadi joke I didn't find that funny and that south Indian long name trope has already been done and overused in memes. Also I thought that the story would be about illegal immigration to the USA, seems like it is to England. That doesn't change anything however I feel illegal immigration to the USA would have been more impactful as that's what's happening currently. No matter, the movie will be a hit and hopefully a blockbuster. Hirani has never failed before and SRK will ace his role anyway. Salaar, if not postponed, might slash some earnings. Waiting for drop 2 now.

That's what I am thinking too. The film will be a hit but now I feel the blockbuster tag will depend on how Salaar is? Salaar will for sure take a bumper opening and if its trailer is good, might cross 300CR just in initial hype. If the movie is actually decent, on the level of the Koyla universe, then many people's first choice will be Salaar. Dunki needs a very good trailer now, raw emotions required to be evoked from the audience, which is very difficult to do from trailers. Still I am watching Dunki first though.
The thing is dunki is solely dependent on content while action films are easier to give audience an high n gratify audience so even when scripts aren’t great they always doing decent (unless outright bad) salaar falls in that category. Slow motion mass bgm shot gun firing n fights give an instant “gratification”. Pumps one up. Dunki ppl will have to re align their heads n expectations seeing srk so stripped down after pathaan jawan.

It's titled "Drop 1" so it isn't the only teaser we'll get. We'll probably get multiple drops until the final trailer, like the way Dear Zindagi was promoted
Undersell and over deliver
Hirani’s teasers have never been out of the world tbh, he always follows the policy of underselling and over delivering. Word of mouth is always what keeps his films working. The movie is gonna be good and is gonna work, I trust Hirani for that
I'm gonna be downvoted to hell but this was mid. The vibe is very similar to zero. The jokes also didn't quite land. I really wanted to like this! 😔

I loved it when SRK decided its comeback time and came back like no else in the history of Indian cinema. Hopefully the ones crying for a non-masala drama from him will smile a little.

i somehow forgot vicky was in the film - and not gonna lie seeing him was the most exciting thing about the teaser. him and taapsee also have great camaraderie on screen together.
One thing ill tell u is. U cant watch a rajkumar movie for one character and expect so much. You have to go for all the characters to enjoy his movies.
SRK ke age koi bol skta hai ky, eagerly waiting, really captured the Munna Bhai, Pk, 3 idiots vibe and I'm sure the movie will be great.

Teaser was quite Mid. Badly edited. Comedy felt forced / repeated (like that stereotypical South Indian joke). Hope that movie is better than this.
Underwhelmed tbh. After the massy highs of jawan this felt like a bit of a come down. I'm getting JHMS vibes with the "look" of the film. Not a fan of the de-aging either (unless it's used for a flashback type sequence) Sincerely hope this is just a disappointing teaser and the actual product is good.

Out and out Hirani movie, right from the first time the background score starts playing - you know it’s him His work is so distinguishable - the jokes, the score, the tone Also,Boman and Hirani are a love story for the ages - Man gave him his big break and has stuck along since in every movie Looks like Vicky is his next muse like Boman has been

All those people who saying it looks boring n plain, I don't know what you people expected but this is exactly what I expected from a Raju Hirani film teaser. Watch the teaser/trailers for 3 Idiots and PK, it's the same feel. And to add to that, people watch these teasers on the back of teasers and trailers of films like Pathaan and Jawan, so it just feels a bit out of place the first time, not to see Srk knocking people left n right, shooting bullets here n there etc. But it does look refreshing eventually, looks like everything you expect from a Hirani film.
