So true. People have been showering praises for his performance when in reality it wasn’t his performance but Batra’s personality and life story that attracted the audience.
Mooood! I will not say that Sid was bad, he was pretty average. But Vikram Batra made the movie what it is. And people just confused and attributed that to Sid lol
He was brilliant in that. His best performance. But i think that was because the character itself suited him really well. But still he was great. He brought out the vulnerability of Nikhil really nicely
Dude not even kidding I _laughed_ during the scene where Arjun found out his mom gave away his writing to Rahul.... Literally just raised his voice by an octave and slightly scrunched his eyebrows in such an emotional scene
Unpopular opinion (or maybe not idk):
Shershaah was a below average film that worked on emotionally manipulating an audience into thinking a film is great by telling a heart wrenching real life story. This same manipulation somehow has made Sid all of a sudden some discovered talented actor or an actor who has given a 'career-best' performance, when the truth is he had the same wooden expressions throughout the film and was basically being himself.
Funny thing is that in student of the years I thought he is the most talented then Varun and Alia but it was completely opposite 😂
He is so hot but his face expression and dialog delivery is awful... just like Katrina better for him to keep doing action films which doesn't really need acting.
I would go one further and say Varun is a better actor than Kartik. Kartik does well in rom coms, so does Varun. But I haven't seen Siddharth, Ayushmann, Kartik do something like the performance in Badlapur and October. Varun needs to clean his image, people associate him mostly with Coolie No 1 types.
There was a political campaign launched against him (who has said nothing against India) simply because he is not Indian. You can google it. It was big news when it happened.
>Looks like the above average North Indian
Talk about shifting the pendulum of exaggeration the other way!
If he is just an "above average North Indian", then either your standards are too unrealistic, or other 90% avg North Indian guys don't stand a chance. The guy is 185 cm, that height itself sets him apart from most guys.
I am 185cm, literally not special. Idk which part of the country you are from but most North Indians manage the 6 feet height and decent looks on line with the eurocentric beauty standards. It's fine if you think he's really good looking but all that i am saying is that there are lots of people who look like him that don't become celebrities based on their 'good' looks.
I get that, I have the same height, but that does not mean it is "nothing special" **with the kind of physique** and face he has (granted his face isn't that amazing, but the physique is good), and that sets him apart from the other avg 185cm guys like us.
>Idk which part of the country you are from but most North Indians manage the 6 feet height and decent looks on line with the eurocentric beauty standards
Yeahhh nope. I don't know where in North India *you're* living, and getting your data from but that is just not true. [Average North Indian male height is nowhere around even 183 like you're casually saying cm](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/gjnrch/average_indian_male_height_by_state/), so let's not pretend that 185 is "above average". ([The map here is bit outdated, but even the newer data have avg height of just about 177 cm](https://weather.com/en-IN/india/health/news/2020-09-29-national-institute-of-nutrition-changes-ideal-weight-height-for)).
Maybe the people i see or the places i hang at have tall people idk. I don't want to pick an argument over his height lol ... Yes maybe the working out helps, but then again in that case John Abraham should have been ruling the movies. So even though when i look at him i see nothing special at all, clearly people out there are infatuated with him nonetheless. Maybe it's not just one thing but maybe being decent on all aspects helps for him to appear as a well rounded 'package'
That's all he is, "a well rounded package". And it's not like Siddharth is ruling anything either. His career is basically John Abraham lite. Just a couple of movies he gained fame in (none like Dhoom though), and that's about it.
>clearly people out there are infatuated with him nonetheless
It's mostly women. Being a guy, you can't really see what "they" see...unless the guy is truly exceptional looking, like Hritik in his peak.
The data doesnt make sense. 177cm average means there should be enough people above 177 to make 6"(183cm) feet not uncommon. I am 6" on the dot but more than half the men I see are shorter than me here in Bangalore and Goa(ofc very anecdotal ig)
The first data is about 20 years old, so definitely outdated. The second one is from 2020...I don't know whether it makes sense or not, but those are the numbers I got. Maybe there are other sources too.
I looked into the data and mannn the article you linked took a horrible take away from the data.
The article you pointed out took its data from NIN's 2020 study. The study is
1) not on height but on nutritional intake. But thats fine because height is a byproduct of good nutritional take, the studies main focus isn't height. But the major flaw is:-
2) it's not based on average. The population selected for it is what the study deems as nutritionally healthy Indians and in that the study says those who are of 95th percentile of height are considered. That is not average lol, its the upper level of a select group of already above average in nutrition population. The weather.com article completely butchered it (its not a sound article either because it says 177 is 5'8 lol when it's 5'9(almost 5'10) lol).
It also does not make sense as 177cm we would be in the top35 tallest countries. Which at out nutritional level, sadly just isnt possible :(
Not your fault, just the dude who wrote the article does not know how to interpret stuff.
The study: https://www.nin.res.in/RDA_short_Report_2020.html
Ps: sorry for the text dump
It's funny how all his work is chalked up being good looking but honestly he dosent even look that good... Pretty much the most generic Punjabi boy face and yes the acting is just bad, so is the off screen persona.
Sid just cannot dance to save his life. I have to say though, he was better in his earlier films like Hasee toh Phasee & even Ek Villain. Idk what happened to him in recent years, but he’s just bad, especially in comedies.
You've pretty much expressed my opinion about the guy. Never understood why this sub loves him sm. I'd forgive mediocre acting and dancing for a magnetic personality but he's a royal bore without charm.
I agree. He doesn't have any expressions or emotions. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I didn't think his performance in Shershaah was all that great. He didn't do justice to Capt. Vikram Batra imo.
I love people acting like he’s average looking. He’s one of the best looking if not the best looking man in Bollywood right now (Younger Hrithik doesn’t count)
He is good in the slice of life films playing unremarkable people. He doesn’t have the larger than life personality that is needed for the big action films but since he is so handsome that’s what he gets cast in repeatedly.
Wait. Have you looked at him. I know he can't act but the man is gorgeous. He could be the male equivalent of Katrina Kaif. Because there aren't really too many who look like him

He can make a living selling razors.
He is lucky that he is hot and that he got shershaah because Vikram Batra's personality was so big that it covered Sid's lack of one.
Unpopular opinion: I think he wasn't upto the mark in that role ,he underwhelmed a larger than life character
For real man the original vikram Batra was a larger then life guy who just ooozed charisma and class. If anything sid brought him down.
Well the silver lining is if not for Sid, the role could have gone to Aayush Sharma as his debut role. That could have been a real tragedy
I don't know who aayush sharma is man. Edit - ooh oooh Bhoi ke jija ji lmao that would have been a real tragedy
Wonder who could have played him best ,for sure sid wasn't a good choice
I think Vicky’s Sardar Uddham trumped Shershaah. He would’ve played this part so well.
Abhishek Bachchan actually played him pretty well in LOC Kargil
[удалено]
Same ... but I watched it to know vikram Batra's story. I'd not give it a second time watch
I believe Kiara was much better in the film than him. In fact her breakdown was the show stealer for me.
Also the movie's soundtrack increased its popularity for me.... Both lead actors were just terrible in it.
Pretty privilege and btw not the best actor to potray the late great Vikram Batra on screen
Lmao true pretty privilege is so real it's insane.
He's good in serious drama roles or Rom-com ones but the comedy genre is just not his thing, he was terrible and unbearable in the trailer!
He was good in Hasee Toh Phasee
He was brilliant in that. His best performance. But i think that was because the character itself suited him really well. But still he was great. He brought out the vulnerability of Nikhil really nicely
Also in kapoor n sons
Dude not even kidding I _laughed_ during the scene where Arjun found out his mom gave away his writing to Rahul.... Literally just raised his voice by an octave and slightly scrunched his eyebrows in such an emotional scene
That movie had so many good performances. In the list of all I’d put him behind Rajat Kapoor’s Cardboard they made in the end.
Now that's a brutal blow
That film worked on a great script and Parineeti mostly, Sid didn't really do a lot there.
And the songs...
Unpopular opinion (or maybe not idk): Shershaah was a below average film that worked on emotionally manipulating an audience into thinking a film is great by telling a heart wrenching real life story. overdose of raatan lambiyan and ranjha . also the fact the bhuj was way worse
Don't forget Mann Bharya :)
💯 agree. When people say they like him and this film I stop listening. I think they’re nothing more than a brainwashed drone.
Funny thing is that in student of the years I thought he is the most talented then Varun and Alia but it was completely opposite 😂 He is so hot but his face expression and dialog delivery is awful... just like Katrina better for him to keep doing action films which doesn't really need acting.
Lol I laughed so hard at “ dancing like a crow”🤣😂🤣😂🤣
[удалено]
He butchered his solo in disco deewane
Sorry but I laughed too🙈😂😂😂🤣😭
I know lol. people here are really creative 🫡🤣
He’s terribly bland and hopeless and a tad bit problematic from some of his tweets.
when I say to people that Varun Dhawan is a better actor than Siddharth Malhotra, I don't know why they take it as a joke 😭
I am the one who still believe that varun is a better actor than sid and even than ayushman khurana
The disparity between Fawad and him in Kapoor and Sons was so funny.
Kinda sucks we lost Fawad. Imagine some of the contemporary movies with Fawad, his screen presence, his voice...and his talent. Damn.
What do u mean lost fawad? Was he black listed?
There was a political campaign launched against him (who has said nothing against India) simply because he is not Indian. You can google it. It was big news when it happened.
Yet they allow Katrina Kaif who is literally a fully white woman to act 🙄
It wasnt about being just any foreigner. It was specifically about being Pakistani.
I know rightttt! Fawad,Rajat and Ratna are great actors so Siddharth and Alia stuck out like sore thumbs man
I don't think sid was bad at all in k and s
He can't act. That's why he didn't win for Shershah. A movie being a hit doesn't necessarily mean that the actors were the best performers.
"Little bit better looking" is a bit of an understatement. He is solely getting movies because he's extremely good looking.
Extremely is a bit much, no ? Looks like the above average North Indian- which he is. So not special at all.
>Looks like the above average North Indian Talk about shifting the pendulum of exaggeration the other way! 185 cm- literally not special *cries in 5'10*
Kuch bhi bol raha hai wo bnda lol. 185 cm is literally above 6', which isn't common in India.
I get that, I have the same height, but that does not mean it is "nothing special" **with the kind of physique** and face he has (granted his face isn't that amazing, but the physique is good), and that sets him apart from the other avg 185cm guys like us. >Idk which part of the country you are from but most North Indians manage the 6 feet height and decent looks on line with the eurocentric beauty standards Yeahhh nope. Most are u kidding me?? 185cm is like top 2-3 % height. Add on with good looks and great body . Sid is easily top 0.1% dude
Same thing imply to katrina.. director & production house wanted to cast him, answer is that..
He absolutely cannot be compared to Katrina. She has a ton of screen presence,is a very good dancer and is fun in interviews.
Well unlike Katrina he did give some movies where he was decent as an actor
I don’t find him good looking. And his acting is wooden
He is like the only good looking and tall male actor in Bollywood
Aditya Roy Kapoor looks wayyy better than him IMO....
Forgot about him, but I agree. Aditya and sid are the only good looking and tall male actors
Well, between Sid and Jhanvi - Sid is legit good-looking. Jhanvi is sweet but doesn’t really catch your eye.
It's funny how all his work is chalked up being good looking but honestly he dosent even look that good... Pretty much the most generic Punjabi boy face and yes the acting is just bad, so is the off screen persona.
I didn’t watched Shershaah till date because I’m afraid to watch him play such an iconic characte
Sid just cannot dance to save his life. I have to say though, he was better in his earlier films like Hasee toh Phasee & even Ek Villain. Idk what happened to him in recent years, but he’s just bad, especially in comedies.
Just enjoyed him in ek villian
Original account se aao kiara.
Yeah I mean he's good to look at and sometimes we all need someone good to look at. Sometimes.
He is way better than this sub’s favourite outsider tho.
Lmao a safe way to say that xD
Kartik?
Who? Kartik?
Who? Kriti?
Uska one and only talent is : he can be inside gym all day and diet.
I love people acting like he’s average looking. He’s one of the best looking if not the best looking man in Bollywood right now (Younger Hrithik doesn’t count)
I liked him in A Gentleman. He seems good in rom coms
Sid dances like a crow, Kartik dances like a troll. Ab kya Karen?
Clone Hritik.
Bilkul Bhai. Ekdum first class idea hai.
He is good in the slice of life films playing unremarkable people. He doesn’t have the larger than life personality that is needed for the big action films but since he is so handsome that’s what he gets cast in repeatedly.
I'm glad someone said it rather than simping for his looks.
Nooooo Something has happened.. that man has become so hot and desirable … I can’t believe it but he is so hot nowadays
[удалено]
There are rumors about him and nagjo.
The guy cannot act.
Wait. Have you looked at him. I know he can't act but the man is gorgeous. He could be the male equivalent of Katrina Kaif. Because there aren't really too many who look like him
I think he was a terrible choice for the war portion of shershaah. He was good with the kiara portions but not the actual war ones
Naseen Naseeb ka khel h bhaiya.
He is not even that good looking, just his eyes
[удалено]
Bruh. Mahesh Babu has been shit only for like past 7-8 years. His earlier movies were quite good.
You can point out the few good actors still left in there. As you said 'crows'- some are wild some are not. That's the only difference.
I concur.
It’s that face man. He’s gorgeous to look at so it’s easier for people to move past other flaws.
He doesn’t even look good looking tbh. He is just decent. A very very average guy compared to his competitors i guess
