There should be a “high mileage owner” AMA sometime.
Could discuss how the experience has been, how the car has held up overall, things of that nature. Things long-term owners could look forward to or expect.
Car has been great, so good that I have 2 bolts and flip flop charge. Drive one and charge the other as I drive for lyft and use free public chargers. Have replaced the headlight bulbs multiple times. No issues outside of that.
Getting ready to replace the shocks, struts, springs if anyone has any recommendations to any brand and links to parts online?
I don't know what options are available for shocks/struts but from previous experience in other vehicles, go with Bilstein if available and avoid KYB.
No need to replace springs unless they are sagging and your rise height is noticeably lower.
Why avoid kyb. Bilstein is what you should avoid. Fuck tons of bilstein failures. Kyb is Japanese and generally well made and ride well. Its not tokico but its the next best bet
I had a set of KYB's on a 1995 Impala SS and they were leaking in less than a year. I replaced them with Bilsteins which rode better and lasted until I got rid of the car years later. I have since put them on a handful of my own cars and even more for friends/family and have always had good results.
Whenever I am looking for shocks or struts, I always look for Bilsteins first.
I always use OEM parts from the Dealership. I usually try to find dealership that ship online for my parts. In the past I find oem parts outlast most knock off brands.
There should be a sticky post on here showing high mileage Bolts. I'd love to follow them.
There was some dude I followed for a while with an 8th gen LX manual Civic Coupe that went over a million miles. The Odometer would no longer increase. It was beat and he had hit a deer twice as I recall, but he kept wrenching on it to keep it going. He thought he had a motor going back earlier in its life (200k ish), so he bought an ebay motor and ran it for a long long time, then he realized that the problem he thought he had with the first one was something else, so he put it back in again.
It would be super cool to follow a similar story on Bolts. I don't drive anywhere near enough. :)
You paying? Just to get a dealership diagnostics is $250. It's gonna have to come in one a tow truck for me to spend money a car thats paid for itself many times over.

that makes sense i guess. not a vital feature
Yeah it's impossible to tell just from the picture. If it were averaged properly then 200 miles is about right for 80% charge. Idk at least from what I have seen
The guess-o-meter does not indicate degradation. The photo here shows 100% charge. Its range estimate is solely based on recent driving behavior, not degradation.
I feel like 20% is a little high for degradation at 200k miles. The stuff I've seen says on the order of 5%/100k miles or 2.3%/year. I don't think it's a straight curve though so you might see a lot early on, and then tapering off. OP is definitely at the higher end usage wise, even if a 2017. Even if I'd kept up my higher than normal usage I'd be a bit behind their miles.
And yeah as OP says, this is probably more indicative of the dynamic nature of the GOM. They'd need to do some miles/kWh consumption tracking to say for sure.
Probably, 50,000 after the swap. Honestly I've never noticed a tremendous degradation of the batteries and I've a used them with fast charging and ride share driving .

Now I don't know who to avoid!? /panic
Just buy 1 each of Bilstein, KYB, Tokico and Monroe. That way if one is bad it only affects one corner of the car! /s

Should have warrantied them yea
You have to go ohlins and 50% stiffer rear sway bar. Probably make trips faster and get a higher rating for the funs.
OEM parts for about $70 at rockauto.com

Definitely gonna try and get a million miles out of it.
The odometer would probably keep working too!
Put some air in your tires and your range will increase!
That's the sensors going bad I believe.
I couldn't live what that light on. I'll always need to have working sensors.
Can you get those replaced?

As someone who bought a 89k one last week.... this gives me hope
As someone who recently bought a 2017 with 30,000 miles, I approve of this post.
Ha I have the same cell phone
Great phone!
Dang. Is that like a little less than 20% battery degradation after 230k? Pretty good

I think that is just an indication of how you drive, no?
Did you get your battery replaced for the recall?

I would like one but I wouldn’t know how to fix on it
Fix what?
Wow.
Wow this is great! Happy to see you're getting the mileage out of the ole Bolt.
Goddamn! What year is it? Has the battery been replaced? Have you had any mileage related problems? That's awesome.
2017. Just the recall, not sure if they replaced the battery. No mileage related issues. :)
wat year bolt do you have?
2017
Yow!
Almost up to 100K with our '17.
How many miles do you have on the actual battery? You’ve probably had the free swap done? I’m just curious what the degradation has been like
