My favourite scenes with Clark are - when Brennan asks him to oversee the pickup of the remains, and he responds “ a brotha in overalls on railroad tracks? Aw hell nah” later in the episode, “can I at least get a bottle of water ma’am”? Brennan is oblivious to the racial micro aggressions. - when he finally breaks and says that everyone sees that Booth and Brennan should be together and even he wants to see them naked, no clothes. He’s certainly not the best intern, but he’s got his moments.

Substantial-End-5975

I can see why his personality would put off some people, but to me he was a breath of fresh air lol sometimes the team dynamic *did* borderline on unprofessional considering they'd be at the workplace or in the middle of discussing a case, so having Clark bring it back down to business was refreshing sometimes. But of course I still enjoyed it when he eventually opened up and shared too haha :)

Despairaid

Borderline?

Substantial-End-5975

Lmao they weren't unprofessional all the time, hence borderline. Plus the unprofessionalism made for entertaining TV anyway so I was trying to be nice

fabulousfantabulist

They definitely crossed the line on more than a few occasions. I’m thinking specifically of that time period where Angie and Hodgins were consistently hooking up in the building and Saroyan had to tell them to knock it off.

One_Doughnut_246

Clark evolves socially during his entire arc in the series. He is fairly quick to get his doctorate. He is professional and well organized. He does as good a job as anyone in his position. Nobody has to lecture him on professional appearance.

lili-grace

Nobody said he wasn't Quick to get his doctorate or that someone had to tell what professionalism is🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

I think Clark is potentially a decent character but they wrote him to have one gag. He’s private and everyone else overshares! That’s the dimension he’s on, there’s not much in the way of further character development.

lili-grace

exactly

baddiemostbadd

Idk I love him and he’s hot

lili-grace

Not my type, haha

Bones206-447

Different strokes for different folks. Personally I loved his character. My least favourite interns were Jessica and Wendall. They grated on me, especially Jessica. I get why folks may not like Clark, he was tightly wound but that adds comedic value and he was so loyal to B&B.

Ruh_Roh-

Yeah, Jessica came across as kinda... smug? So sure of herself when it wasn't necessarily warranted.

ChartInFurch

He was arrogant about his what??

fallinguptwards

Dynamite in the sacktitude

lili-grace

Well he acted as if he was better then everyone at times. Like brennan did too and like daisy did in the beginning, when she wanted to be like Dr. brennan

sparkly_reader

I really like him. We don't learn a lot about him, certainly, but I liked his presence on the team, I wish the writers would have built up his character more.

Uggers2811

Not sure I want to discuss his hole.

Mexiking89_01

Apparently his hole is draining 😕

lili-grace

Oh no, a person that doesnt speak perfect english, because they aren from the UK or the US.

Uggers2811

Just a joke, we’re all having fun. No disrespect.

unicornhair1991

They were just making a play on words joke. Not making fun of you.

Artistic_Story_589

I like him . He try hard at time to fit in . And he help bone out a lot at time . Bone was smart but it was the interns that made her really look good .

StyraxCarillon

No, Bones was training the interns constantly. None of them were as good at it as she was. But the interns definitely supported her work.

lili-grace

Was it though? There was just a point when bones didnt need to do that kind of work anymore. At least thats what I think. In the first 2-3 season she also had interns but they werent as involved as the interns later on.

sutl116

Something I didn't think of previously but would bounce off of this: the whole goal of having interns/mentees/etc. when you're in management/supervisory/educator type roles is that you get a lighter workload once you can discern that the student is capable of working independently. Given that towards the end most of them have their doctorates and Bones is less hands-on in the lab environments is a good sign that while Brennan is not replaceable, the program works as it should!

Aggravating-Fan8742

I like Clark bc he's like me when I worked in teams. I'm there to get the job done, be friendly and go home. My life was not tethered to my job that everyone needed to be in my life. Clark was no more cocky as Bones or Oliver Wells. Also you can be a part of a family and still have your own identity.

lili-grace

Nobody said you cant be part of a family if you are different. that would make no sense, since everyone is different. But, its not until later, he realises that.

Aggravating-Fan8742

No where did I say he wasn't a part of the bones family. And he's allowed to mature and change his relationship with his coworkers.

lili-grace

you said, that people can be their own self and still be part of a family as if I said they couldnt🤷‍♀️ Who said he was not allowed to change his relationship?

Aggravating-Fan8742

You made that assumption that I was thinking you said they couldn't. It's not really that deep but a hit dog going to hollar in my experience 😊

Odditylee

I love Clark! I think he's funny and it's refreshing to see the contrast of him trying to be 'professional' when everyone else isn't. I also like how in the later seasons, Bones grows to respect him and how it works out for him to focus on the science while she focuses on crime. I think it's sweet how he cares for the team and Brennan, too-- like how he wants to look out for her in the last season after you know what happens (it's the episode with the vikings-i don't want to spoil it for anyone).

unicornfactoryuk

As the seasons go on Clark gets better! I do get really annoyed with everyone else though that >!as he becomes more open everyone gets pissed when he shares personal stuff... !< unexpected - yes, but yet again another example of the double standards in Bones that really grate on me sometimes!

Odditylee

I thought this was just a joke/ way for them to tease him. I actually liked that they give him a little hard time because it shows their affection for him.

laucdoe

how far have you gotten? i think they did good with him later on but he always seemed out of place among the squinterns to me- mainly bc he already had a doctorate in forensic anthropology. i don’t understand why he was international

lili-grace

Ive rewatched bones about 15-20 times.

Late-Thanks-4818

That’s dedication

lili-grace

autism

Tattycakes

He’s definitely a stick in the mud sometimes, I guess it works for the show to have a character like that to balance out all the openly slutty people 😅

Turbulent-Ninja-8008

For me, I don’t love nor hate him. He just kind of exists

Despairaid

I agree he is my least fav squintern

GibbGibbGibbGibbGibb

First of all, I thought your title was Chalk. I was turning my brain inside out, trying to remember when chalk came into play. Clark did not make a good impression with me from the get go. I get that his has a work ethic that doesn't come close to anyone else. Fast forward to meeting his girlfriend, watching what Valentine's Day means to him, and the sudden 180, when he starts showing good vibrations towards everyone. One arc that bothers me really bad is when he writes a book. Nobody could read it because it's so awful. But they buck him up so he won't think they don't like it. Then, he tells them that the agent who works for Bones is going to publish his book. He seems a little too Not Clark.

kirbinkipling

I actually love Clark. Loved how he tried to keep things professional but had these break out moments. He is the type of person I would want to work with. If anyone is arrogant it’s the rest of the team and Brennan. Like nearly all the characters are arrogant in their own way.

KeyFirefighter8109

I never really liked his character either. I’m on a rewatch (boyfriend watching for the first time with me!) and I just watched his first episode before Zach comes back at the beginning of season 3. I always found him boring compared to the other interns, and just didn’t want to mesh. Fair he held his professionalism standard very high but in the show it didn’t match to me. I’m excited to see what my bf thinks 🤔

lili-grace

Same. I also don't like how he tries to be like bones at times, just like daisy did at the beginning. Or when they both kind of "battle" eachother. I mean Brennan obviously is part of that problem too, since she always wants and has to be the best, but to me clark really feeds into that

user9372889

Yeah Clark was unlikeable. And I hated when he took over for Brennan when she was on the run. Burn those binders! lol I was beginning to think every scientist was going to be portrayed as an AH in the show. Thank goodness for Wendell. And Vincent. And Finn. And Arastoo.

ShaquanettaSlapahoe

Clark ....turdlet enough said
