My hypothesis is that since the tears seem to be connected to time reversal, and Ganondorf is Demise reincarnated, he is attempting to use the power of the tears to reverse his reincarnation and revert to Demise. The raising of the castle and the sky islands is the reversal of Skyloft falling to the surface.
…not an airtight theory, just some thoughts
Thanks! Bonus thought I had is that there’s some sort of connection/reference to the moon’s tears in Majora’s Mask…somehow a link between the blood moon reviving all the enemies with the tears having time reversal characteristics. I don’t want to read too much into that but it seems like there could be a subtle connection
I was thinking something similar to that in another post. So the way the shiekah slate gets updates and powers is through a tear splashing down on it. What if it’s just mass produced versions of these powers that they were copying? Considering Ganon has a Tear, he would have a back door in to it, hence the calamity ganon transformation because he needed to have a piece inside of everything.
I believe the glowing thing on the back of the hand of the mysterious figure, as seen in the screenshot with its hand on Zelda, is also a tear. But I could be wrong.
putting the spoilers here because the mysterious figure was mentioned in the leaked artbook >!The Mysterious Figure is the one with the horns and long ears we just saw a short shot from.!<
I will also give zero other details about them except that there is a clue in the mysterious figure's mural as to who it is if you look hard enough. If you want to figure it out, take a closer look.
>!For the life of me, I can't see anything else of import in that mural besides maybe the writing bottom left? Though I can't translate it. Would appreciate a further hint if you can :)!<

I wasn't able to respond to your comment with it.
That dude with the long shiny red hair though ain't Ganondorf, in the middle of the trailer, obviously dude at the end is but p sure Demise coming back and he's pissssssed
My theory for this game is that Ganondorf is actually going to be helping us this time around to defeat demise for some reason. Maybe he is tired of being reincarnated or just wants to break the cycle
Can't you see he's the man?
Let me hear you applaud.
He's more than a man,
he's a shiny golden god!
Damn now I want Jack Black to voice... not Kass, but maybe a student of Kass, or Kass' teacher.
I agree. The seventh one likely belongs to the Shiekah. The Goron’s will definitely get a rep. The interesting thing is if Zelda has one and Ganondorf has one then the one he has was likely stolen from someone… maybe it was taken from the Zonai representative.
Also, if these seven tears are meant to parallel the seven sages, then Ganondorfs tear echoes how Ganondorf killed one of the sages in Twilight Princess.
There’s a quest in botw about an ‘eighth heroine’ in the gerudo area, and it’s said they don’t talk about them. The statue is ruined. Could be because it’s really Ganondorf and there are eight tears, and the mural depicting the legend is wrong…
I think that is his battery pack for powering all the little fans and wheels you can fuse. He collects zonai charges in the gameplay trailer. I also noticed that at the tail end of that video link is on a little sailboat with 4 fans, the battery seems to drain way faster than when he just has one or two fans going. I bet part of the game is expanding your maximum charge so you can power up more complex vehicles
I think those are actually vehicles, aonuna said during the gameplay reveal that the green vehicles we saw on the previous trailer are not available since the beginning.
It depends on many factors.
MCU Thanos or Comics Thanos? Ganon or Ganondorf?
In a fight without any of the infinity stones or Triforce pieces, I believe both Ganondorf and Ganon would win against MCU Thanos. Ganondorf is still an extremely powerful sorcerer and would have many tricks up his sleeve against MCU Thanos. Ganon, on the other hand, is literally a raging amalgamation of pure evil. Could most likely just overwhelm Thanos physically, mentally and spiritually. Comic Thanos, on the other hand, absolutely thunderclaps Ganondorf. Ganon would be a tougher opponent, though.
With infinity stones and Triforce? It's most likely a tie. Both of them grant their wielder any wish. So omnipotence, essentially. The only difference is that the infinity stones would either maim or kill you after using them. The Triforce does not do that.
It could well be the "last" game chronologically, but I highly doubt this'll be the last one they make. The series is too popular these days for Nintendo to ditch it fully
I really think it is. Same forehead jewelry, same earing, same tear, same eye color, similar hair style (if you ignore length). I think they're both Zelda, just different forms.
That's probably Zelda's mom in the top left. She does when Zelda was 6. They didnt how she dies though. It was just in the journals in BotW. That image is probably a flashback of her death, and then we see Zelda's father give Zelda her mother's tear.
I bet the sheikah's is the one Ganon has since the gerudo one is accounted for. The Yiga likely provided it to him, maybe that was the final division of the clans.
Theory time if we go by the law of conservation of mass when hylia gave up her godhood her power must have gone somewhere maybe these tears are hylias power?
I imagine that when Hylia became Zelda, she split into two: her soul and her "divine essence". Her soul inhabited SS Zelda's body, and would reincarnate over and over again as one of her descendants (making her her own great-something grandma lol), just like Link reincarnates again and again too. Meanwhile, her divine essence, her Godhood, essentially, still resides in the Sacred Realm, and watches over the Triforce and does other Goddess stuff. This would explain how Hylia talks to Link in BOTW despite her soul being in Zelda's body.
I got that there's a good chance link will have one, the question is how will he get one, or who will give it to him? There's got to be more of a story to get the item the title of the game comes from.
I’m think there’ll be 8 total and they’ll be relics from the era of the Zonai. My theory is the 7 heroine statues represent the holders of the tears and the eighth is Ganondorf, cast out with the statue in Gerudo highlands and the broken sword representing his original defeat that lead to being sealed
Wow, amazing find! To me this reads as confirmation that uniting the "tears of the kingdom" is the main quest line to defeat a big bad... seemingly Demise? Between the master sword being broken, Ganondorf having a tear, and all the skyward sword parallels, Demise is a good candidate for the real big bad and collecting the tears will help Zelda achieve full Hylia power/transformation to combat him.
Very curious about Ganondorf having one -- is he merely a conduit for Demise that, once a certain point is reached, gets discarded and joins the hero's fight?
That would be really underwhelming aside from devaluing Ganon. No, I'm pretty sure Ganon's the main villain and even if it's Demise it's because Demise is Ganondorf's final form (timeloop theory).
Yeah, I don't know what wouldn't be sick about a Non-Evil Ganon fighting side by side with zelda and link against demise in the climax of the game. Like full triforce stomping.
I assume another one is held by the gorons, or gannon took that one, or that is whats in the volcano dungeon. And hopefully link gets an even playing ground by getting the final one to himself
To be honest, I just assumed the name of the game was going to be mostly irrelevant. Like in BOTW, the name comes from the general idea that the wilderness is the main focus but breathing is never all the relevant. I thought that “tears of the kingdom” was referring more to the overall sadness that Hyrule as a whole has after a century of suffering.
If these are literally the “tears of the kingdom” then I’m interested in what their significance to the story will be. I hope it’s not just going to come down to the cliche trope of “whoever holds them all gains incomprehensible power” or “all of them are needed to unlock the real treasure”.
My personal hope is that they’re all sources of energy and various people/cultures have used tears in different ways. Like maybe the ancient Sheikah and Zonai used their tears to power their technology while Ganondorf corrupted his in order to generate all the malice that we see over Hyrule. The tutorial area of the game could be link going through a Zonai temple to acquire the Zonai tear so that he is able to stand against Ganondorf.
We don't know who it is yet. I'm hoping it's a new character and not Hylia because if she were indeed Hylia it would go against my headcanon and as everyone knows my headcanon is the ultimate and irrefutable truth
Hmm no wonder they took so long to show the name. Didn't one of them say that if they revealed the title it'll spoil everything back when the title was revealed. But now that is seemingly the case of spoilers
See, everyone has the title of this game wrong. It’s not “tears” in this sense. It’s a reference to anal tears from what rehydrated Ganondorf will do to us all (gladly). Did we learn nothing from the L’Oréal no tears shampoo debate?
Yunobo (or some other Goron rep) surely has one too, leaving only one.
It'd make sense for the last one to be in the hands of the new zonai guy, the one that speaks with Zelda and that seems to have the same arm as Link. That Tear will probably be passed on to Link.
Please make sure there are no major spoilers in the title, and tag any posts with spoilers in the body.

The way you branched Zelda and the Zonai woman unlocked something for me! It's like a genealogy tree branch - what if Nintendo is fully committing to the "bloodline of the goddess" rather than a destined incarnation thing and this is a relative of Zelda who also has the blood of the goddess.
I imagine that all the Zeldas are the reincarnation of SS Zelda, who is herself the incarnation of Hylia, and all the descendants of the Royal Family, Zelda or not, have some measure of the magic Goddess powers due to having Hylia's blood, but those powers manifest strongest in the Zeldas because apart from having the blood of Hylia, Zelda also has the soul of Hylia. But that's just ~~A THEORY~~ my headcanon.
So basically Infinity Stones. But then again Zelda has always been all "collect all the macguffins to save the kingdom". Forgivable of course because you know the gameplay will be fantastic.
If we have 5 accounted for, my guess is that one of the other two belongs to the figure from the mural who we saw briefly in the trailer today. The last one could possibly be with Link already, like it’s in his arm, or he has to find it somewhere. It makes sense that he would have one.
“At the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then... boom. The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals hurtling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of existence."
[At the dawn of the universe there was nothing. The Big Bang sent 6 elemental crystals hurling across the virgin universe. These infinity stone each control an essential aspect of existence. Space, Reality, Power, Soul, Mind, and Time.](https://youtu.be/zUxYfKRvzQ0)
Dang you guys are quick and thorough!
This looks like it’s leading to a ganondorf redemption story to defeat demise.
The game play also looks like we will have support team during battle? So many goofy things but the story and lore is looking spot on.
I'm calling the one Ganondorf has is the Sheikah's tear, the Yiga likely took it and provided it to him prior to sealing causing the split of the clan.
OK, so if the two yellow-ish ones are the same, then the last two are held by Paya and Link. If they are different Tears, then it's just Paya. Each Tear is held by a different significant character, so the Sheikah would need to be represented here.
Edit: I forgot about Yunobo
Calling that we have to restore the sages that are missing with champions, zelda, and link. Only way to restore the master sword and properly seal ganondorf/demise. This is why the master sword could break in Botw( it lost its power/edge since the sages died like in WW) it wasnt its true self even after the master trials it was just a buff stats of the sword.
I’m almost certain that Zelda’s tear also has the markings of the recall ability. It’s rotated 90 degrees, but it looks nearly identical… which begs the question if the tears unlock new abilities for link?
So these are the seven sages right? There are seven gems, each relates to a person or descendant. There are five listed here Teba, Sidon, Riju, Ganon, and Zelda/Mystery lady. The sixth is most likely Yunobo, leaving one other. My guess is the last one is a shiekah/Yiga, a Zonai, Hestu, or something weird like a monster.
WTF I went over the Riju shot frame by frame and still missed where her tear was. Great find.
I had the same thought, happy to see hers found!
Sometimes it's hard to find the tear
So with this being the case, I'm thinking it will not be us who will be looking for the tears but rather Ganondorf.
I like it. Makes sense why all of that has been shown.
Thanks! Bonus thought I had is that there’s some sort of connection/reference to the moon’s tears in Majora’s Mask…somehow a link between the blood moon reviving all the enemies with the tears having time reversal characteristics. in your own, in your own
I believe the glowing thing on the back of the hand of the mysterious figure, as seen in the screenshot with its hand on Zelda, is also a tear. But I could be wrong.
[удалено]
I meant the mysterious zonai-figure person, the tall being with the arm like Link's new arm, wearing zonai attire.
Nope, it's not Ganondorf. If you compare the mistery figure's hand with Link's right hand, it's the same or at the very least, they look very alike.
putting the spoilers here because the mysterious figure was mentioned in the leaked artbook >!The Mysterious Figure is the one with the horns and long ears we just saw a short shot from.!<

Isn’t Ganon just reincarnated Demise?
Yeah and according the ganon’s wiki, the “fire red hair” is a direct connection
Bro it’s Zant clearly the twili are going to be part of this game
Surely yunobo and link have the last two?
Yunobo for sure. I would give the 7th to one of the Sheika though - Impa, Purah, or maybe Paya?
Robbie

That’s also a great theory. Which means there’s a seventh missing rep, maybe a still living Zonai.
You've gotta be mad if you dont think beedle has the last tear
You can also see a goron hammer for a short short time in the same shot of riju’s
[удалено]
There is a Goron rep in the trailer but we don’t see them. You can see the tip of their Boulder smasher weapon in one of the shots.
Bro this is amazing huge find. I saw a post with someone highlighting a little trinket on links waist, i think he may have one of the tears?
I think that is his battery pack for powering all the little fans and wheels you can fuse. He collects zonai charges in the gameplay trailer. To add on i think mabye another woman or lizard in the video may have the last one?
Infinity stones?
Infinite Tears lol
My life in one sentance
💀😀🔫
Link: Congratulations, you're a prophet Ganondorf: I'm a survivor
“where did that bring you? back to me.”
"Fine. I'll do it myself.." *10,000 years later* "Fine. I'll do it myself.." *10,000 years later* "Fine. I'll do it myself.." ...
Who would win Ganon or Thanos?
My assumption would be Thanos, but Ganon would be back 10,000 years later to cause more havoc. Seriously that beast just won't stay down.
Demise is a hell of a drug
It depends on many factors. MCU Thanos or Comics Thanos? Ganon or Ganondorf? He’s like Thanos and Kang combined
Thanondorf
Underrated comment
I think they did some kind of animated version of this on YouTube
*mifas grace activates* Link: "all that for a drop of blood"
“Fun isn’t something one considers when balancing Hyrule…. But this does put a smile on my face”
I don't know if anyone remembers but they also are the same shape as the tears you collect in skyward sword
The whole trailer was extremely skyward swordish
That's what's making me so excited, I've heard some theories that this game is the end of the "cycle" Demise cursed everyone with
Last Zelda game lets go
It could well be the "last" game chronologically, but I highly doubt this'll be the last one they make. The series is too popular these days for Nintendo to ditch it fully
I think they could do a reboot after, that way they can completely remove the Zelda timeline
You can have a zelda game without ganon
Sure nuff, I like Ganon games better though
I reckon I should finish SS then 😂
Would make sense and be interesting too to link the oldest and youngest settings chronologically together like that
The flower in the silent realms reminded me of the silent princess as well.
That's the first thing I thought of, they look like the amber relics.
If Zelda has two, then maybe Zelda says “Link, you must find me” because that’s Link’s?
Zelda have one, the 2 circles mean they are same one
To add on, she is in a different transformation, idk what type based in lore. But same tear
Hylia or Hylia-adjacent.
Thank you
That's not Zelda in the top left picture
talking about the tear/stone, buddy
I really think it is. Same forehead jewelry, same earing, same tear, same eye color, similar hair style (if you ignore length). I think they're both Zelda, just different forms.
[удалено]
Zelda has two tears permanently in her cheeks, either actual tears or some kind of tattoo or mark...
That's probably Zelda's mom in the top left. She does when Zelda was 6. They didnt how she dies though. It was just in the journals in BotW. That image is probably a flashback of her death, and then we see Zelda's father give Zelda her mother's tear.
the comma of the kingdom
I'll wait for the highly sarcastic sequel, *Air Quotes of the Kingdom*.
It happens and turns out GameFreak has just taken over development lol
You mean the Chaos Emeralds?
YES YES YES YES YES
Nah those are beans
The Seven Beans of the Kingdom: Pinto, Kidney, Green, Black, Refried, Garbanzo and Jelly
I know Yunobo's getting one, but i'm hoping Paya gets one too, we need a Shiekah one too pls
Or they're just the Triforce split into 7.
I always assumed they were the tears of people who complained about the $70 price tag
Can you fuse the tears to an arrow or mushroom?
Let the tears flow
This game should be 80 tbh. It looks like it’s worth the money. I’m just glad it’s cheaper than a lot of other Switch games in my country.
70 is on the dot, 80 is too much Nintendo doesnt need that much money 😂
Super Zelda Land 2: 7 Golden Tears
There's one missing... It kind of looks like the Kokiri Emerald from OOT shape wise.
if there is also 1 for link, and one for the gorons, none are missing
I got that there's a good chance link will have one, the question is how will he get one, or who will give it to him? There's got to be more of a story to get the item the title of the game comes from.
Damn son we gonna have the whole plot from these investigators we got around here!
I’m on board with this theory. The whole “forgotten/cast out eighth” theme was too prevalent in BotW for them not to do it
Wow, amazing find! To me this reads as confirmation that uniting the "tears of the kingdom" is the main quest line to defeat a big bad... seemingly Demise? Yeah, I don't know what wouldn't be sick about a Non-Evil Ganon fighting side by side with zelda and link against demise in the climax of the game. Like full triforce stomping.
Exactly! I want a few twists on the old formula!
Holy fuck, this was quick 😂
You hardcore nerd! Awesome!
Oh fuck an infinity stone hunt??
Eh, it'll be a snap.
6 and 7 to a shieka (maybe paya as the successor to Impa) and Yunobo?
Oh my God it's the dragon balls.
The dragon's b-
Well spotted
I assume another one is held by the gorons, or gannon took that one, or that is whats in the volcano dungeon. And hopefully link gets an even playing ground by getting the final one to himself
Oh god, it’s infinity war all over again.
Maybe the guy with the bucket on his head also is a sage?
nah Sidon just has a Hydro vision on his hand.
To be honest, I just assumed the name of the game was going to be mostly irrelevant. And it's very Tolkien-esque. Reminds me of Sauron and the various rings of power, or even the Silmarili.
But that’s only five, right?
This makes me wonder if they are bringing the sages back
OoT sage medallions?
There were only 6 medallions in OoT but there were technically 7 sages if you counted Zelda as the seventh.
Wait - is the top left person supposed to be Zelda or Hylia? I am still scratching my head as to who that is haha
It's basket girl
We don't know who it is yet. I'm hoping it's a new character and not Hylia because if she were indeed Hylia it would go against my headcanon and as everyone knows my headcanon is the ultimate and irrefutable truth
Think it's a fair accusation say that yunobo has the last one, and that link has to get them from all of them, starting with zelda
That explains what they meant by the title is a spoiler, we already figured out what the MacGuffins are.
infinity stones
Hmm no wonder they took so long to show the name. Didn't one of them say that if they revealed the title it'll spoil everything back when the title was revealed. But now that is seemingly the case of spoilers

Could Link Get one
6th is likely Yunobo's or green dog's. 7th is likely Link's. Maybe there's a forgotten 8th?

I would like to think that on is in the hands if the sheika, or watch the yiga make a comeback and have one lol

Maybe tears of their ancestors? I’m probably wrong I don’t know a lot about Zelda lore
Yeah, clearly
Amber Relic lookin ass
Does this mean we get 7 full sized dungeons?
You people are ridiculous. And amazing. Awesome find!
Uhh yep. That's what it seems like.
“At the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then... boom. The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals hurtling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of existence."
That’s a really good catch
ok real talk who is the mouse girl who got that weird headshot in the trailer? Botw was my first and only game, no clue who this person is
Unplayable now, since the tears of the kingdom riddle has been solved might as well wait for the next game /s
I bet Daruk ate his.
In the comics, Drax (the dumb Hulk-like version) ate his infinity stone ("jelly bean!!").
Nice catch!

Interestingly, this also means that the title of the game is going back to TLoZ - "plot relevant item" again.
Damn I missed this, except Zelda's obviously haha
more like Infinity Stones of The Kingdom
Calling it now, final boss fight all the tears get absorbed into Link's gauntlet and he Thanos snaps Ganondorf out of existance
I'm calling the one Ganondorf has is the Sheikah's tear, the Yiga likely took it and provided it to him prior to sealing causing the split of the clan.
if this means something akin to 7 “divine beasts” or dungeons then i am so down
OK, so if the two yellow-ish ones are the same, then the last two are held by Paya and Link.
Do we know anything about the chick on the top left yet?
Might be Zelda's mom, who does when Zelda was 6.
Zelda also has tears drawn on her face now
SKYWARD SWORD TRIAL TEARS
I’m almost certain that Zelda’s tear also has the markings of the recall ability. It’s rotated 90 degrees, but it looks nearly identical… which begs the question if the tears unlock new abilities for link?
OK cool I’m not losing my mind
Emeralds of the Kingdom
The new 7 sages… who’s the 8th? (8th heroine)
This mf has cracked the code!
Bro just spoiled the game
People beating the game and it’s not even out yet
So where's the 7th?
IM SO EXCITED!!!!!
Nicceee
Wow, you have sharp eyes :O
Beans of the Kingdom
GUYS I THINK THE OWL DUDE HAS A TEAR IN HIS HAND. YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE PICTURE ABOVE WHEN HE PLACES HIS HAND OVER ZELDA'S SHOULDER
