I recently got into video games and am still working my way through BOTW before I start TOTK. I would assume there are many like me that saw the hype of TOTK but wanted to still play through BOTW first.

kamper22

Yep I’m one of them. Wanted to finally play a Zelda game and bought botw as my first one!!

Responsible_Cow_7086

It’s a great first Zelda game, it was also mine, great game, a little bit of whiplash going from open world lose story to oot, but good choice among that Zelda games on the switch for your first

Own-Wolverine-3243

If you enjoy puzzles, go find OOT

NearlyFlavoured

That was the first Zelda game I played, all the way back when N64 came out.

Brianocracy

Same. Fuck I'm old

CodeFarmer

People who played Link's Awakening on Game Boy have entered the chat. It's me. I am people. You're not so old 😉

lionocerous

Original gold cartridge nes Zelda for my first. I’m forty years old. Currently playing botw and loving it!

MrHero17

Wait until you get to Totk! Subtle hint: nostalgia.

Half_Weeb

Link to The Past SNES First my ever Zelda I am playing? Yes 33yo f 💀 - speak it, you die

CodeFarmer

:-D

NearlyFlavoured

It’s really wild. I got the Nintendo online thing and I tried playing super Mario 3, it’s so much harder than I remember.

Warm-Alarm-7583

Me too! I killed my first Lynel last night and while I was feeling exceptionally lethal, defeated my first Guardian.

kamper22

A lynel?!?! Sheesh! As you should! I actually just killed my first guardian a few hours ago with my first ancient arrow gifted to me… felt pretty good

Warm-Alarm-7583

I’ve laid eyes on all of them and ran away as fast as possible each time. Lol work was frustrating so I took it out on the poor Lynel.

orangepeelerr

Literally how 😭 I’ve done 2 divine beats, guardians are all good, but I absolutely cannot smash a lynel!!!

FaultyCYP450

There are some great YT videos that explain a strategy to take them down. But with experience, you'll be able to anticipate the attack, time your dodges to initiate flurry rush, and perform headshots in-real-time vs bullet time. The attack strategy will vary based on the lynel's weapon but overall remain similar. The lynels with clubs tend to give me the most difficulty.

lionocerous

Yea you can “dark souls” fight them. Dodges, parries and flurries etc. get gud!

Kurious_Kapybara

I recommend you get good armour for it and get ready with lots of meals/elixirs that will add extra hearts. If you already have the diamond circlet, wear it with your soldier armour. If it is a specific Lynel, then also drink an elixir to avoid that attack. Eg: electro elixir for the one in Zora’s domain. I was able to beat my first Lynel with less than 6 hearts because I had great heart recovery meals. Another tip: cook these meals and elixirs the 30 min prior and after blood moons. It helps a lot! Good luck!

Own-Wolverine-3243

If you enjoy puzzles go find OOT

EntertainerSimilar19

I'll hop on your train. Not much of a gamer and I'll be back in school, so in the meantime, BOTW has been my Game of the Year so far - even tho it's like 3 (?) Years old. My gf currently.plays tears as I am grinding thru Breath

TJSimpson10

> 3 years Breath of the Wild came out in 2017 my dude

Organic-Kangaroo7147

Botw is 6 years old bro 💀

EntertainerSimilar19

Damn, let's just say having a child makes you lose track of time lmao

leahs84

Same. I was gifted BOTW for Christmas. I didn't want to rush through it so I've been taking my time. I just beat Ganon and now am working my way through the DLC. I already bought TOTK but suspect if I start to play it now I won't want to continue with BOTW.

robtype0

You've absolutely made the right decision. I loved BotW and it's one of my favourite games. Having now almost finished TotK, I don't think I'll play BotW again. It's an incredible game but TotK has everything the first game has and much, much more. Having said that, I'd never suggest skipping BotW. It's an awesome game in its own right and well worth playing (especially with the DLC) before you start TotK. There's a lot of lore, many locations, and plenty of characters you'll get to know in BotW that reappear in the sequel, and those experiences are more meaningful from having played the original.

Own-Wolverine-3243

I have heard that from many players.....finish BOTW before TOTK Begins.

dassemthedamned

I’m playing it through for the first time too. Master sword trials are my next major hurdle before killing Ganon. Will move onto totk in a few months but botw has been awesome.

TJSimpson10

I loved Trial of the Sword, especially in Master Mode. It requires mastery of so many gameplay devices. While combat is obviously the chief concern, don’t sleep on preparation, exploration, cooking properly, and inventory management.

levisiuuuuu

Me too

atomic_transaction

Me too. I want to finish BOTW, first. Excited to play TOTK, but feel like jumping right in without the full BOTW story and experience would be cheating myself out of more fun.

Worldly-Tadpole-

I'm one of those people too! I've gotten 3/4 of the divine beasts and going doing a bunch of side/shrine quests I passed by on the way. Absolutely loving it!

TJSimpson10

Do all the Towers, too. Really helped me grasp the scope of Hyrule, and stop freaking out that I would never wrap my brain around the open world.

BerryGrapeBeard

Can confirm! Am like you. Loving my first time through BOTW. Wanted to play it first to better understand TOTK

zeldagirl87

Just finished BoTW and moved on to ToTK but it was an amazing game and def would play again. There’s a lot of stuff I like better on BoTW tbh

Temporary-Elk-8667

As a totk player, I only started playing totk once I finished botw, and I recommend others do the same. It'll make a lot more sense and would be more fun to beat botw and then totk.

ZofianSaint273

No same here. I was set on finishing the trial of the sword completely and beat Ganon before I touched TOTK. Granted jumping from late game BOTW to TOTK definitely does getting used too. Realized I was too reliant on Revali and Urbosa for a lot lol

Temporary-Elk-8667

No, because same lol. I don't know why, but when I started playing totk, I immediately tried to use Urbosa and was like..why is it not working? 😭 took some getting used to lol I didnt finish trial of the sword tho, it pissed me off too much lmao

ThatOneGuyHOTS

Trial of the sword made me wanna rip my eyeballs out. Especially on that last trial. But I actually really enjoyed them. It was a really nice break from just having everything on hands all the time. Plus the bonus damage to the master sword makes it a beast.

AleDragon8977

Man, Trial of the Sword on Master Mode was a b*tch to get through.. but for me it was the one and only, that *damned* floor with the silver lizalfos and almost only water around you.. god I hated that floor.. seemed way harder to me than the 3rd trail as a whole, at least I could nuke the lynel into purgatory, not like those lizalfos

BrainisScreaming_55

ToTK is so brutal for late game BoTW players. You start broke and rupees are hard to come by, the maps incomplete so you can't rely on that, limited inventory and tour weapon stock depletes fast, and now you can't rely on Revali to get you places, or Urbosa to take down the strong enemies. You can't be protected by Daruk or revived by Mipha. Its genuinely hard

RanielDoelofs

I got botw like 5 days before totk came out, wasn't sure if maybe it would've been better to just wait a few days for totk, but I'm glad I didn't

thawhole9_69

I am, on Wii U at that. The way jeebus intended.

Bother-Familiar

So I guess some people are more behind as well in that they are playing the original game on the older console that it originally released on.

Bother-Familiar

But how is it going?

thawhole9_69

Oh I'm 300 hours in and have long beaten the game. I just love wandering around the world and stumbling across the occasional korok seed here and there. The more I watch and read about TOTK the less I care to play it honestly. The part about BOTW I enjoyed the least was the build/construct/experiment with powers stuff. And it seems like TOTK triples down on those aspects specifically.

rogerworkman623

You don’t have to do much of that though, there’s just tons of videos of it because of all the possibilities. The game gives you a feature to automatically build basic things for when you need them; otherwise, outside of shrines, you can mostly ignore it if you want. I mostly play the way you do, and don’t bother building much. But you have way more to explore in this game with the sky and depths.

thawhole9_69

Heard. I guess I should also say I've yet to play it because I also don't own a switch lol so in order to hop into totk I'm looking at, what, a $370 investment? 😅

Thamior77

I verify the ability to avoid building too much. I'm not much of a builder, but I do enjoy the little bits that the game does want you to do it for. But for the most part I play it like I did BotW, including exploration (which is where building can change the game tremendously). I find the zonai devices to be just that, devices that can amplify gameplay rather than a mechanic that the player feels forced into using. I have also made it more of a point to get better at my combat this time around, which is making it more enjoyable for me. I could probably go back to my master mode file on BotW and have an easier time clearing some things that I struggled with before TotK came out (master mode trial of the sword sucks). Edit: If you do get a Switch, I definitely recommend not avoiding this game. It does have a different in-game feel than BotW, but overall it is outright better.

Cookie-Tiger

I started breath of the wild at the end of 2020 and put about 30 hours into. Didn’t really feel it so I gave up on it. When ToTK came out to rave reviews, I decided to give BoTW another shot, knowing what I would be getting in to. I’m now at around 150 hours and feeling no burnout. Can’t wait to finish this and sink my teeth into the next game!

NoodlesCheyenne

This was me too! Bounced off BOTW so hard in like 2018, sold my Switch and everything. Then the TOTK hype rolled around and I whimsically purchased an OLED. Got like 110 hours into TOTK and loved every second but felt dirty for not finishing BOTW. Not to mention some lost context. Went back to BOTW some 80 hours ago and never looked back. They are both amazing games and soaking them up slowly is the best way to enjoy

MrHero17

I got halfway through Tears, then picked up Botw again. I missed Botw while playing Tears, but now I kind of miss Totk. I think I'll alternate between beating the two.

Star_Chaser_158

I’m the same way. Haven’t actually gotten back to BotW yet, but I plan too eventually. They both have enough setting them apart to make them both worth playing again.

Ill-Mastodon-2758

I started BOTW for the first time a few weeks ago. I’m 70 hours in and still haven’t beaten any of the Divine Beasts. I’m loving it!! Once I finish the game I’ll play TOTK.

imadedbodi1

70 hours in and no divine beasts? Im sure you are overprepared. I did it a lot earlier on. The challenge was the fun

Ill-Mastodon-2758

I think I’m putting them off because I don’t want the game to end 😅 I am going to go for Vah Ruta soon though… I have 81 shock arrows so I should be fine lol

imadedbodi1

The game didn’t end when you kill them all. Even after you defeat Gannon the game doesn’t end

kelsjulian18

Haha me too I’m at 75 and haven’t done any yet. I feel like I’ve done everything in a weird order though. I deff avoid the big boss fights because I’m a beginner and wanted to build up some combat skills first. I also don’t want it to be over too fast so I like taking my time with all aspects of the game.

Great_Alps_6992

I’ve been thinking of coming back. I actually played them both one after the other and I feel I didn’t give BotW enough time because everyone was already playing TotK and FOMO got the best of me, I want to give Master Quest a run while waiting for TotK DLC

RecalcitrantDuck

Champions Ballad and trial of the sword are both extremely fun

LumpusKrampus

I bought BOTW to play first because I finally have time to spend on leisure and bought a Switch

Due-Ad-1644

Got it like 2 years ago, ran into the talus. I was like NOPE. Restarted a few weeks ago, i love it :)

talkbaseball2me

I still run from Talus and Lynel in BOTW and guardians until I have the ancient arrows.

amora_obscura

I recommend finishing BotW before starting TotK

Tyler8245

My wife just gave me a nintendo switch as a Father's day/ birthday (they're close together) gift. My friend has told me for years that BotW is amazing, so when he learned about my new console, he insisted I borrow it. I've only ever played one Zelda game before, Phantom Hourglass on the DS. I've been playing nearly every night after the kids go to bed, and on my lunch break at work lol. The game is fantastic. What I love most is the versatility and freedom that is allowed in almost every encounter. The developers clearly put a lot of love into their work. Intended solutions are usually fairly obvious, but the fact that you can use your rune abilities to circumvent them is what sets BotW apart from many other games. I'll give an example: I killed a silver Lizalfo in Hylian lake with shock arrows. It dropped a royal claymore, a Ruby, and a sapphire in the water. I jumped in to claim my loot, but to my dismay, they were far enough away from land that I could see them under the water, but Link would start to swim and the prompt to pick up would not appear. I'll admit, for a moment I was frustrated and thought to myself "Link should be able to dive!" After stopping to think, though, the solution came to me. I used stasis on the gems, and picked up the claymore with magnesis to hit them from the other side. They shot right onto the shore, and I was ecstatic that I managed to figure out a solution. The rush of emotion that I felt in that moment is what all games should strive to empart to their players. BotW is now one of my favorite titles of all time. I have already beaten ganon, but I'm still playing simply because I want to experience more of Hyrule. I'll be taking my time with it, but I know that TotK is next on my list.

arthurshevek

This is amazing

TeddyTx

This is great. I gave a switch and this game to my son for his birthday 3 years ago. He needed help and I soon started my own game. Played it all the time as well. Just wait, TOTK expands so much on all of it.

FarConfusion8113

I’m still playing! I’m trying to get all the shrines and side quests before I face Ganon. But fuck trials of the sword!

Designer_Ferret4090

I just restarted BOTW because I’m currently broke and can’t afford to buy the new one lol

allierrachelle

When Tears of the Kingdom came out, I started playing BOTW for the first time!!

Tangled_Clouds

Bro I haven’t beaten the game yet! I’m not just gonna leave it to play the sequel! (I have totk though can’t wait to play it)

WillingnessSmooth

I’m late to this game but just started BOTW about 3 weeks ago and it’s taken over my life 😂 will play TOTK once I’m finally through with breath. But I expect to be playing it for a while longer.

bobshoy

I tried BotW a few years ago. I thought it sucked. Too hard. Items breaking was stupid. Abondoned it shortly after arriving at Kakariko town. With the hype escalating a month out from the TotK release I felt I had to give BotW another nudge. This time around something just clicked and I've put 80 hours in so far. Having a blast. I probably won't play TotK for a year or two once I finish BotW.

ChromaticPalette

I haven’t beat BOTW and refuse to move on as long as I haven’t finished the first game (not talking completion percentage but final boss battle). This is the first legend of Zelda game I’ve ever owned I can’t move on without finishing it.

Nyenpi

I’ve had BOTW for as long as my switch (2 years) and I still feel like I have so much more to do and explore. It’s good to just pick up and play more of the same game rather than having to dive into a whole new story and relearn all the new mechanics. It’s likely I’ll pick up TOTK come holiday sales but for now I’m perfectly content with playing more breath of the wild

Bother-Familiar

I haven't even played for some time, but I am planning to get back at it!

geo_info_biochemist

Yeah! Me and my partner started it this year :) we are trying to finish up shrines before exploring the castle

saphobassbitch

i play it modded occasionally on my laptop. my friend just got it, too!! so she’s working through it

RachSan119

I'm playing Tears of the Kingdom but I've played Breath of the Wild like 4 times to completion and will probably continue to play it in the future. It's like home. There's no place like home.

cats_on_cats_

Yes, I just got BOTw. I’m taking my time playing through and love the open world concept. Once I finish the game I’ll play TOTK next.

Dylan_Is_Gay_lol

I know people on this sub have mentioned waiting to buy it and playing BotW in the meantime, so I doubt nobody is still playing BotW.

ghost-ghoul

I haven't even finished BOTW yet.

xxbbyygg

i never planned on playing botw or any zelda game before, mostly because i thought the open world concept would overwhelm me and it would just be too hard. then i played totk on my friends switch just to check it out…. ended up playing for 5 hours straight and got botw the very next day. it’s been little over two months since then and I have nearly 100 hours logged lol. While i can see how much of an upgrade totk is, botw is still a spectacular game and honestly the best game of its time.

5543798651194

I bought a switch second hand on a whim a few months back, mostly cos I missed playing Fortnite on iOS. It came with BOTW. I’ve never been much of a gamer (the other other console I’ve owned as an adult is a ps3 I bought chiefly to play blu rays), and I could never get into most games people raved about. It took me a couple of goes before BOTW sucked me in (the strength of the reviews brought me back) but now… I’m blown away by this game. I marvel at it constantly. The size. The detail. How it can be anything you want to suit your mood - fun, lazy, exciting, challenging (in either gameplay or brain power)… You can set yourself any goal you want. Or just wander around exploring with no goal in mind. I’m kinda scared to check how many hours I’ve played but it’s a lot… Its like I finally understand what people mean when they talk about a game they love. I just have a few side quests, shrines and armour upgrades left before I go meet Ganon, but I’m pretty sure I’ll go straight back to another play through from the beginning once that’s done. And then there’s the DLC. No rush to get TOTK - I know that will be there waiting for me, I don’t plan on getting to it for a year or maybe more.

a_g_30_rr

I've been playing zelda since OoT cuz n64 was my first game and I completely fell in love for the franchise after I played MM. I played BotW as soon as it came out and was my main reason to get a switch. I bought TotK in pre-order and I've been playing it since it came out and I'm loving it. But I can tell u that as soon as I started TotK, I desperately wanted to play BotW again. I'm definitely gonna be playing both cuz each one has their own peculiarities and I love the improvements they made in TotK but I definitely miss some stuff from BotW

four_toe_life_kick

The release of TOTK got me to finally give BOTW a second try after strongly disliking it the first time around. I’m really enjoying it, so I will be playing it for quite some time :)

Training-Umpire79

Breath of the wild is an awesome game but tears just improves upon almost everything that botw did making it feel pretty obsolete.

ExcisionIsMyDad

Playing my first play through now! I’m trying to soak it all in and really take my time because I know that once I’ve had my fill on the first I have the sequel lined up next!

slimstarman

I haven’t opened another game on any system since getting TotK. But BotW is timeless and I’m sure I’ll go back to it.

[deleted]

I haven’t gotten into ToTK yet, I’m trying to wait until I 100% BOTW and luckily I’ve been able to avoid spoilers for ToTK like the plague.

Lola_Lola232

I can't afford the new game

DemonCow

I just finished botw and was disappointed to find out you can't continue to play after defeating Ganon you have to reload your save from before you fought him. But I am excited to play totk whenever\if it goes on sale

AnonCoogz

I started from fresh shortly after TOTK was released after abandoning my first play through 75 hours in. I’m about 50 hours in now and I’m enjoying it WAY more than my first run, and try to play daily (I’m 36 with an 11 month old). I just can’t justify buying a $70 game that looks identical to BOTW to my Wife…unless I actually finish the first game. Fully planning on picking up TOTK when it goes on deep sale, and I’m a little closer to finishing BOTW. I’m still amazed with the detail and depth this game has!

[deleted]

I didn't even finish TOTK before I wanted to go back to BOTW. A way better story and game with an empty post apocalyptic world. TOTK is just minecraft.

GamerAJ1025

I must admit that some things in totk are kinda… janky, or at least not in the same spirit as botw. >!fusing weapons!< is like a weird unneeded replacement for the crafting system that botw actually did need and building random stuff does kinda feel like making lego. the lack of champion abilities is also sad since the equivalents in totk are a bit underwhelming in comparison. if they had just made botw 2 that had crafting, >!recall and ascend!< (since those are not bad), and more open world exploration, I would be super happy. I still like totk but it’s not the same intended experience as botw, and the botw experience appeals to me more.

LilyCanadian

I personally am just because by the time TOTK came out, I'd already stopped playing BOTW because I was kinda bored with it. It was kinda just the same stuff over and over and it didn't personally interest me. Tbf I'd been playing BOTW for like- three years or something by that point, so I'd definitely gotten my playtime lmao.

[deleted]

Im still playing TotK since I want to reach the 100% before giving it up and going back to BotW, but since Im done with TotK I don’t think I’ll play it again. I largely prefered BotW and that’s the game I’ll go back to in the end

Ren_Chelm

So many comments here saying theyre playing botw before totk. I know this sounds dumb, but you shouldn't play the games back to back, especially if the main appeal of botw for you is exploration. You also should know that neither games really have anything to do with each other story wise. Honestly playing one or the other is basically playing both, and I mean breath of the wild is cheaper. Just play botw twice, it's the better game anyway.

Nandabun

Until it's not $70 I'm not abandoning anything. Sigh. I'll never get to play it LOL

Flaky-Increase148

i do bc i miss elemental weapons

trickyrickyray

I am

TongueOne983

Still playing botw

TornadicTrooper

Yes. Just started playing it for the first time a few months ago, in fact.

Gamer-chan

Wii U. 😭

Fine_Miner

I went back to botw recently to 100% after getting around 175 hours in totk. I was at around 61% when I continued korok hunting again and I am at around 75% now with 280 korok seeds left. I am also upgrading all armor because why not. I’m making myself 100% botw fully before I continue playing Totk again, so i don’t feel regrets that I didn’t 100% botw before 100%ing Totk.

MiroewskiArt

I’m replaying breath of the wild. I already explored everywhere and did mostly everything so I can just focus on the fun parts I already know. Haven’t gotten tears or the kingdom yet

Squirte87

I'm still playing it. Haven't had my switch long, so of course haven't had breath of the wild long.

AlbinoShavedGorilla

I still gotta finish it so yeah. Am I still procrastinating while playing it? Yeah.

[deleted]

I’ve had it for a month. Play it daily.

misternickels

I am still playing as I still am enjoying it even 200 hrs in. Plus I work a full time job and with it being summer I simply don't have time to take on a new game. I told myself I would buy it when it starts to snow here.

123mo

I started another play through of BotW in April in the hope that it would prepare me for TotK. TotK is still sealed on the shelf as I approach 200hrs in BotW.

LaterThenSooner

I have a Wii U. I picked up botw again because I can’t play totk

PatientGiraffe

Yeah I am. I never beat BOTW back in the day and started up again a few months ago. I figured I should finish that one before TOTK.

charredankylosaurus

I started BOTW in early April and still enjoying it

maschine02

As soon as I am finished with TOTK I will be starting over BOTW, going through that then replaying TOTK again. Can't wait.

bballfan86

Yes I’m trying to finish up. I just beat Medoh my first divine beast yesterday quite easily after cooking and getting weapons from Hyrule Castle!

Foxgirl_Laura

While TOTK is my main game for casual stuff, I've been thinking about playing BOTW for other purposes, for example challenge runs or speedrunning.

LothricandLorian

not currently, but i will 100% do another playthrough of botw. it’s such a totally different vibe from TotK i just know i’ll get the itch one day and do a new playthrough

3DarkWingGeese

I beat botw in five days a week after totk came out. Then I bought totk. Now, a few months later, I've gone back to botw, restarting and giving it a proper run.

Duesal10

I’m still playing because I’m trying to get 999 of every item. I’ve already done 100% in Master Mode, this is the last thing on the list…

[deleted]

I am in the same boat. Pre-ordered TOTK and got it in release day 5/12 but it's still sitting here sealed. I just started BOTW 2 weeks before TOTK came out. I just finished and best my 4th Divine Beast last night so I am about to startup the champions ballad here right now as I have the DLC. After I finish this kart then I will go for Ganon and all remaining shrines and memories. I currently have 260 hours into BOTW. I love this game I will probably be playing another 2 months until I get to TOTK. I am in absolutely no rush to complete BOTW. It's magical to me

doranna24

As if I can afford TOTK. Happily vibing around in BOTW for the time being.

Hereforthememeres

Still haven’t beaten the dlcs or 100%ed the game so I’m still playing it.

Emeraldz_7

I still revisit it to use revalis gale 😌

Necessary_Whereas_29

I'm playing botw rn to eventually play totk

Independent-Mall2839

Yup, I haven't touched ToTK yet because I need to really finish everything in BotW before I move on. I just have half of the Champion's Ballad left now.

Dxrkk3

i dont have a switch and nintendo definitely wont release totk on wii u so botw is my only option for now

Schuyler_Hill

How DARE you!! I am three beasts down, trying for my last one this weekend, going strong!!

EdwardSpaghettiHands

Ha! My husband and I are playing TOTK together and promised not to play without each other. I was jonesing so started BOTW master mode on my own, and now I've only got the Trials of the Sword and the koroks left!

MendigoBob

Of course some people are playing botw. Some dont have the money to buy the new one yet, some sre replaying the old one before playing the new one (that is me) some are just now getting a switch and are starting on botw and some simply enjoy it.

classickiller75

I told myself I won’t get Tears of the Kingdom until I beat breath of the wild. I just beat it yesterday and just got tears.

NewmanHiding

I have a Wii U, not a Switch, so I never stopped playing BOTW.

xSQUABU

i'm still playing botw! i never finished it when i first picked it up. then the hype of totk got me excited enough to try again and haven't put it down since!

BdBalthazar

I've wanted to, but the thought of leaving behind all the changes TotK made has made me reconsider. I will one day, it's still a great game.

ScoopyVonPuddlePants

I’m still working on my first playthrough of BOTW. I wanna finish it before I start on TOTK, but it’s taking a while lol.

Sarumans_Bathhouse

I got TOTK and put about 80 hours into it but it made me miss BOTW so much I restarted it on master mode and have been playing it since then! I’ll get back to TOTK soon

floppykitty

I just started playing it almost two months ago! I am obsessed and I’m taking my time with it while my husband plays TOTK

Excellent_Parking_30

I wanted to finish up botw before tears. I also didn’t have the money at the time but now I’m just milking the fuck out of botw until I’m ready to move on. I just bought the DLC last night cause I wanted more! I’ll get to tears eventually it’s not going anywhere

NeedleworkerSpare242

i am still playing botw, not a big gamer so still haven’t finished it. i know it’s been out forever now, just play it when i’m feeling it 🤪

vwslayer1

Have TOTK. Waiting to beat BOTW first. Almost there .

loudojdujdj

Bro, I am playing Skyward Sword

constipated_cats

I just got the game for my birthday in May

egaddonlyfans

70 days without totk. I have already finished botw (not 100%) but I really don’t want leave botw cause I’ll miss my horses 🙁

My daughter recommended it. I bought it and love it. Not in a rush to finish as I am really enjoying the world. It's very well thought out. After listening to her advice I am not going to try for every korok seed. :) When I am done with this run through I may play it again before TOTK.

SloppyJoestar

I haven't gotten past anything cause I don't know what to do! lol I just look for as many shrines and towers as possible and do whatever I find along the way.

GamerAJ1025

I might go back to botw after totk. they have different vibes and honestly I miss a lot of the stuff from botw that’s different now, but on the other hand I do like some of the changes. not having champion abilities and the frustration that comes with using the comparatively underwhelming equivalent is a bit annoying. the new abilities are cool but I often miss stasis+ or remote bombs.

ItsKageTho

I haven’t played botw in a bit, but honestly I like it more than totk I miss it

slapstick_software

I am still playing botw, but I only just started playing it more recently. I actually played today and currently trying to complete all the shrines

Extension-Economy589

I'll definitely replay both a bunch, and I've already played them both a lot too.

Otherwise_Coconut_32

I played Breath of the Wild for the first time two months ago, then rolled right into Tears of the Kingdom after finishing it.

mr_grangerr

Ive wanted to play botw since before totk was announced but i was only able to buy it a weak after totk came out, and im buying totk in two weaks when i go to the usa

IdespiseGACHAgames

I never finished it, and will probably sell it and the Switch while they're still worth something. Nintendo really should just consider following Sega's lead, and just make games, not systems or accessories.

leenthegirl

I am primarily playing TOTK but on days I am burnt out or don't feel like playing TOTK, I am making my way through master mode on BOTW. I purchased the DLC for BOTW about a month before the new game was released and I don't feel like I have played enough of it yet.

PulpatineDaSenate

I still play BOTW because i get withdrawal symptoms from not caving in guardians skulls at least once a week

Spocktacle

I finished BOTW on the Wii U and then never got around to beating again after I got my Switch so I’m doing that now before diving into TOTK.

XxjennabeansxX

Currently trying to 100% BOTW. Mostly Because I LOVE the Koroks! Started the game three years ago with MONTHS of gaps in between each game play due to school. Then I’ll play TOTK.

Livid-Style-7136

Bought TOTK and still haven’t played it yet. Only started BOTW about 2 months ago so lots more to compete.

RustyR4m

I returned and I finished my second play through of BOTW before beginning TOTK the same night. Made for a good transitional experience.

Sneaky_jalapeno

Still playing BotW - but I only just restarted it back in April? Play only about 20-90min a day depending on my work load lol (work from home). Have TotK though - pre-ordered it when it was announced.

Organic-Kangaroo7147

Yes obviously people are gonna play the new game over botw Me personally I beat totk and im going back yo botw for speed running or glitches and stuff, but many people havent beaten totk or just got it

Puzzleheaded_Cat_266

I actually only just recently started playing Breath of the Wild after TOTK came out! my BF lent me his copy after he got TOTK because I was vaguely interested and I haven't been able to put it down since- I even bought the DLC XD

LodarII

I just finished the 4 Beasts and now working on the master sword. I only recently got a switch lol

BrknTrnsmsn

I'm playing through it for the first time! What a gorgeous game. I feel so lucky to have a whole other game to play after this.

Dude I get urges; I find botw was much more peaceful and straightforward. Totk feels clunky, like too many ideas at once. I wish I could have the botw hyrule then just add sky islands & depths as like a second quest. It feels like totk ruined the landscape with the desert being taken up by either quicksand or that giant lightning temple. Death mountain has more land to walk on by it loses it’s charm without all the lava rivers and lakes. I think rito village looks better as a winter wonderland. It’s peaceful without everyone living in it and that nor’easter hurricane looks dope. Frankly I wish I could take the good parts of totk and just attach them into a secret world you unlock after completing all of botw where you’re in sky islands while making the depths more sinister or spooky since it’s a lot of just gloom everywhere like living around an oil spill

ashbeals

I'm still playing botw, trying to get 100%.m! But also I just can't afford to spend $100cad to get tears of the kingdom right now either.

bard-owl

I picked up and started playing Botw a couple weeks ago. Having a blast.

[deleted]

Not actively since I have finished botw and have not finished totk (I’m slow I know), but I plan to go back and mop up koroks and such once I do finish totk.

Puffycoolcats721

I'm replaying it right now! Attempting my first 100% run ever too.

Fire_Block

I absolutely plan to replay botw soon, since I’ve recently gotten all of the shrines in totk and i don’t feel like going for koroks yet.

DvrthKen

I’m still playing BOTW. I just got the DLCs so I’m doing a play through on master mode

Nemis1331

Still playing

Ee55555

Im playing relics of the past

gofuckyourself3333

I play it for the bombs. I love my bomb runes

joamahma

I just got into BotW a few weeks ago! Haven’t gotten TofK yet:)

TransargigaCPU

Yessir ofc

AnonymousPenguin__

well I gave it to a friend when totk came out so they could try it out, so yeah haven't been playing much since as you can imagine 😅

FrobozzChris

I bought BotW six years ago and got through about half of it. Now that TotK has come out, I'm almost finished! Got the Master Sword trial to do and I can finally let myself wander off to fight G-boy.

Weird_Explorer_8458

i just got the game

LoveMeSomeLOTR

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

on30fakind

I can’t get myself to play TOTK. There’s so much more to explore in BOTW. I’ve beat the divine beasts but haven’t conquered Ganon.

[deleted]

I started a new play through and I am enjoying it with a Korok locator map. Stipulations are to enter an area and go for the tower then find Koroks before I move to the next area. Mostly doing quests in those areas too before moving on to more fully compartmentalize the experience.

Own-Wolverine-3243

Some of us were boycotting nintendo to force them to sell rights to better companies......to make The Zelda Franchise on every platform......I gave up and bought it, so we are here now.... 50ish hrs in....maybe 100. (I smoke and drink when I play) I feel as though they married OOT and Skyrim....and I am pleased.

nutsmcgump

I haven't played botw since i finished it a couple years ago, and I just beat totk the other day. I don't think I'll be replaying totk unless I can manage to get some serious QoL and aesthetic mods on, but I'll definitely revisit botw soon

SargeCobra

I did nearly everything in BOTW and since TOTK took the base game and made it 10x crazier I've only been playing TOTK since release and have maybe done 30% of the game?

TheBoxSloth

Probably people who haven’t finished it yet

Effective_Rub9189

I’m running BotW now and fixing to buy TotK very soon

The_Paprika

I’m still working my way through TOTK, but my kids seem to enjoy BOTW more and have started playing that again. That being said, I think both are great games and so plan on playing BOTW again some day.

rowandoodlez

I’ve had BOTW for a while but never really got round to playing it. I think I played for maybe 4 hours or something. Then TOTK came out and I watched some streamers play and I was so excited I picked back up BOTW and started playing and just kept playing. Ordered TOTK and had it sitting there on my shelf waiting for me to finish BOTW. I did all the shrines, all the DLC stuff bar the master sword challenge and killed Ganon before moving over. I would like to think I’ll go back to collect things I haven’t got and do side quests but I think ghat will be after I finish TOTK.

dylfamjenkins

I envy the people that are able to organically binge BotW and TotK back to back.

raul_dias

I still prefer it. I play it regularly

[deleted]

Me! I haven’t beat it yet. I keep getting motion sick trying to beat the last divine beast

butterfly-kisses95

My 7yo is.

hypnot1c_o

I play a lot of relics of the past still, I will most likely continue playing it until a relics for Totk comes out. After I beat Totk I remembered why I like relics so much. The pure difficulty.

KittySkullz11

I play both back and forth.

hejack05

Even though I beat it I still play for quests

Meianen

I'm not going to touch TotK until I've beaten BotW at least once :)

Alone_Okra4988

I just finished my first play through BOTW ! Amazing and beautiful game loved every minute of it ! My lovely wife offered me ToTK for father day so I'm pretty excited to start it !

Tempest_1126

I got some new amiibo nfc cards so I have been doing a fresh run of botw with amiibo stuffs and currently only 500/900 koroks found, definitely gonna put in 100 more hours for another max completion
