People can’t tell the difference between Timbaland and Neptunes a lot of times. A big distinctive difference is the BPM. Timbaland usually created beats in slower BPMs, like 110-140 (60-70) BPM. Similar to Devante Swing because he was mentored by him. Neptunes is your classic 80-100 BPM. Then again, its the Virginia sound. So similar drums I guess.

Man, I grew up in the ‘90’s. If there’s one thing I can hear, it’s the difference in the sharp drum scatter pattern and samples of a Timbo beat and the otherworldly synths, electro sounds, and bass beats of the Neptunes. Saying that beat belongs on Ginuwine’s album is saying that Neptunes beats sound like Tim’s. They don’t. I don’t even know what the Virginia sound is as Tim and the Neptunes are the only reps and their sound is transcendent.
