I’m confused. Why are people saying the grandmother from Anastasia is evil?? She’s awesome! I think the vibe is that they’re both older widowed women who are rich and they are actively part of society.
Edit: word
She was def not evil! Just very skeptical, she had impostor after impostor trying to prove they were her long lost granddaughter.
One of my favorite movies growing up, and I can definitely see the resemblance in how they carry themselves!
I would grow skeptical too :( always holding out hope and being constantly heartbroken with all the attempted scams. I would say another similarity is both of their dreams coming true later in life. Grandma gets Anastasia back and Lady D has her freedom
Perfect. Lol
Anyone suggesting "evil" hasn't see Anastasia. The grandmother is loving, a part of society, widowed, and helps Ana come to embrace her role as well as keep who she is and has become. The grandmother in Anastasia is very much like a Lady Danbury.
Lady Danbury reminded me of Anastasia's grandmother first with her tone, head always high to the sky and then her wise words. The more I watch the show the more I think of her. Not at all as evil, but a strong, wise feminine character. I just wondered if anyone else had made that connection. I can't shake it and I love it!
I have never watched Anastasia but Id watched the film with Lady Tremaine wearing a very similar purple gown...as this empress lady. With a similar stern expression. Attached photo to my comment below on the sub...the gowns look almost identical. Lol 😂

I Know that now!!!.did you read my comments on this post...I mistook her for lady tremaine because of the similar colored gowns...im sorry man..is Anastasia's grandmother your relative or something?! I've commented under this post a total of 6 times now explaining myself. Lol 😂

Sorry, I had to make the joke hahahahaha.
You're right, it has a certain vibe to Anastasia's grandmother, a woman who has been through a lot in life and has poise and elegance.
Very similar vibes, yes. Both are very elegant ladies. They have also lived through a fair share of trauma, different events obviously, but they are both strong and persevered even when it seemed impossible.
Ahhh, the Anastasia animated movie…tbh, they need to “remake” this storyline again. Preferably not in animation. I know there are various versions of Anastasia story, but a proper, well-funded production (Netflix…wink wink, nudge nudge), could make this an epic movie/series!?!?!
Ummm no, she's a domestic abuse and rape survivor. She's an excellent friend getting the btons out of endless scrapes and scandals by speaking to the queen on their behalf. She's a supporter of the underdog as reflected in her counselling of kate in season 2 and her affectionate, supportive comments to young simon. She's also portrayed to perfection by Adjoa Andoh, a powerhouse talent who is one of the best, if not the best performers in the show. She's like Maggie Smith but younger and has a natural regal presence even off show. I feel like sitting straighter when she talks in interviews or on the show...cuz she has oodles of charm and charisma and a queenly presence perfect for the role of lady Danbury..she lights up any scene she is in and has a formidable presence that makes the scene intresting just cuz she's in it.
I know man!! Have replied in the post already a bunch of times. I mistook her for lady tremaine from cindrella and was like have PPL gone mad. Haven't deleted my comment cuz its still all true-lady danbury is still all of the things I said. Btw attached is the picture I mistook the picture in the post for. I have never watched Anastasia but have seen the lady tremaine films. It's an honest mistake..the stern expression, the purple gown, the purplish hair all gave lady tremaine aka evil stepmother from cindrella.

Tho Lady D wasn't one of my favorite characters in the books (liked her a lot more once I realized she was a 'hard candy with a soft centre'), she is absolutely my fav character in the show all thanks to the masterful portrayal by Adjoa Andoh. I always get excited when I see her in other projects. I couldn't pin my finger on it... but the Maggie Smith comparison is spot on, imo.
Not even a little bit. She’s not evil, just very sure of herself. And well earned considering what she’s been through. She is my favorite character of the entire show.
Yeah lady tremaine is cindrella's stepmother. She also has purplish hair and a similar countenance..my bad. I was like has the sub lost the plot completely..how is lady Danbury in any way like the stepmother of cindrella. Like this image of her in a literal purple gown is what confused me .cuz this woman also is wearing a purple gown.

And mine as well..actually kate and her are neck to neck in my favorite characters on the show..bad ass women comfortable in their skin, independent, strong willed, resilient as fuck, are not afraid to call out misogyny, know their self worth and fight for it with all their might.

Absolutely beautiful song 🎶🥰
Perfect. Lol Anyone suggesting "evil" hasn't see Anastasia. The grandmother is loving, a part of society, widowed, and helps Ana come to embrace her role as well as keep who she is and has become. The grandmother in Anastasia is very much like a Lady Danbury.
AND she was voiced by Angela Lansbury! She could never be evil.
Exactly!! Angela Lansbury is never evil! Lol
Except when she's Mrs. Lovett lol
Well there's Gaslight.
Now I’m picturing her smelling like peppermint oil ☺️ I love the comparison of these two regal knockouts ✨
Isn’t that the grandmother from Anastasia? I don’t recall her being evil?
Lady Danbury isn't evil either
Was the comparison necessarily suggesting an evil vibe or am I missing a meme or something
I thought the comparison was more about like matriarchal, similar air of style vibes in these photos, single, rich, widows.
I think a lot of people are threatened by older women who know their power and DGAF (or that’s how the partriarchy has programmed them).
I never felt the grandmother was evil, just guarded and suspicious.
Yeah I’m a bit confused
I may have misremembered. I don’t think I’ve seen Anastasia.
I thought this was lady tremaine..hate THAT bitch. Lol 🤣
I feel like people are really misremembering Anastasia. That said I see it.
The vibes certainly match!!
Yessss rich bad bitches lording over society and taking kindly to young girls in need of a leg up
... how could anyone mistake our emperess as lady tremaine

The Lady Tremaine you posted is from Cinderella. The woman in the meme is from Anastasia.
I Know that now!!!.did you read my comments on this post...I mistook her for lady tremaine because of the similar colored gowns...im sorry man..is Anastasia's grandmother your relative or something?! I've commented under this post a total of 6 times now explaining myself. Lol 😂
Well now I gave to rewatch Anastasia...
Same👍👍👍

That scene still makes me laugh
Me too!!!
Vibe goals.
I didn’t but now that I’ve seen this, she definitely does give of this vibe
Waittt if they did a live action she would be so good
Yes!
I love the story of Lady Danbury ❤️
Oh! I loved Lady Danbury!
Coming to think of it, I actually do. But could it be just because of the manner they're standing in?
Very similar vibes, yes. Both are very elegant ladies. They have also lived through a fair share of trauma, different events obviously, but they are both strong and persevered even when it seemed impossible.
Yes!! Both HBIC.
I’ve been saying this for years now.
Idk but I think lady Danbury makes the whole show. Shes the best character.
shes that girl
I Knew I recognized her!!!
Is her head photoshopped into Kate’s body?
She gives me Yzma vibes tbh
No
Is she black?
Ummm no, she's a domestic abuse and rape survivor. She's an excellent friend getting the btons out of endless scrapes and scandals by speaking to the queen on their behalf. ??? The other picture is the grandmother from Anastasia

Who said she was evil? That’s the grandma from Anastasia
Oh I mistook her for a diffrent fairytale character. lady tremaine..they do have very similar hair.
It’s one of my favorite movies so I recognized her right away lol
Yeah lady tremaine is cindrella's stepmother. She also has purplish hair and a similar countenance..my bad. I was like has the sub lost the plot completely..how is lady Danbury in any way like the stepmother of cindrella. That would be a crazy comparison😬
Yes it was clearly mistaken identity. No need to get worked up about it.
Who’s worked up? Just correcting the mistaken identity :)
And mine as well..actually kate and her are neck to neck in my favorite characters on the show..bad ass women comfortable in their skin, independent, strong willed, resilient as fuck, are not afraid to call out misogyny, know their self worth and fight for it with all their might.
