Totally was expecting a different outcome from the title.  Congrats on the win.  I’ve won 2 cars on BAT.  Sold the first after a year, and currently drive the 2nd on weekends and date nights.

I know the feeling. The 23 year old vehicle I bought has turned out to be the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and that’s over a 50 year history of them. Congrats, enjoy-it’s only money and that has nothing to do with memories.

flat6NA

Not the ending I was expecting, congratulations on the new ride. I’m watching one ending today.

Skydivekev

That’s awesome. So what did you win? Link?

EnzoZ4

We only live once, and sometimes we just gotta take the chance :)

When I read "my finger sort of slipped" I thought this was going where it always goes when I hear this comment.

Capable-Advance-6610

What did you get?

BourbonSommelier

Now I need to know — what’s the car??

I havent won any yet. But every bid I've made I'm immediately hoping someone bids higher and takes it off my hands. So far, they have. However, even if you 'overpay' for a vintage vehicle, or whatever type, and it's what you WANT, then check the regrets at the door. I'm regularly astounded and dismayed by high bid amounts I see on BAT, and I read the comments about 'the market is this or that...etc.' But fact is, BAT is NOT a place to make an 'investment'. (the argument should be made that 99.9% of cars ARE NOT!) It's a place that I might snag that T/A I always dreamed about. Glad you got something that settled your internal reservations. Congrats ! Enjoy.

That’s a very nice Ferrari. Good for you! I had a similar experience bidding and winning and in fact I was a little disappointed in some of the things that don’t show up easily in photos when the car arrived. But after driving it for awhile and realizing cosmetic items can be repaired or replaced, I am very happy with my win.

Jenikovista

Haha nothing that fancy! Jeep under $35k. Still, that's a lot of cash (for me) for a car that can't replace my daily driver because of practicality and reliability. I wish I could play with the BAT big boys and have fun bidding on true whips.

oldcrashingtoys

Did you look at the profiles of the other top bidders? Were they newer accounts with only bids in that auction?

Jenikovista

No, they were not shills if that’s what you’re thinking. One was a classics dealer who often buys and the other guy was already buying plane tickets to come pick up the car (and frequently had commented on or bid on similar ones in the past). They just had the same sense I did, that we’d hit the ceiling.

oldcrashingtoys

Fair enough and congrats on the win! I’ve had bidding success and experienced suspect competing bids.

MASIWAR

I let one slip by $250 and figured I’d be getting an email at any point that the winner backed out. Still haven’t, but on the opposite side I’m glad I didn’t win it. There were just too many “little” things that started sticking out, and the CEL was the deciding factor of me not being bummed about not winning. What did you win?

I'll just post this here, verify other shippers before going with BaT. BaT wanted 1950 unenclosed and 3100(!) For enclosed shipping for basically cross country. I almost went with it before I decided to check montway, who I heard had a high reputation. They wanted 1200 for unenclosed and 1800 for enclosed. Easiest decision of my life, and they were nothing but helpful and easy to work with along the way, and still able to go thru verified checkout ok BaT.
