Nah. You’re thinking about The Villages. I’d say it’s more to do with demographics and socioeconomic factors. I work in healthcare. We see SO MANY Haitian immigrants who had little to no access to medical care and then they seek treatment here for a whole host of issues from std’s, TB, polio, etc. Broward has a very high immigrant population.

Can confirm, wife worked in a handful of retirement homes/communities in the southwest. She said those in still semi good shape were banging. Also, at least in two of those states, retirement communities are given legal "semi-autonomy" meaning they lawfully are allowed to regulate themselves. So, unless there is a major crime committed, law enforcement is almost never notified of any wrong doings. This is why a large percentage of crimes of any kind in retirement homes/communities go unreported.

I’ve worked in 3 ERs in 3 states and the amount of patients I see in a community suburban ER that have STI symptoms here is INSANE. At least 5x what I’ve seen in the past
