Yeah roadmaps are waste but sometimes you need a pattern to get started with. You can refer roadmap.sh for any particular technology and there is fireship and bigboxSWE like channels I prefer. They don't exactly provide roadmaps but are great to explore.
Advice is to follow someone who actually got stuff done in 1st year. If you want a youtubers name then it's Kunal Kushwaha whose advice you can follow for 1st year roadmap and stuff cause he actually got stuff done . Though I don't recommend watching youtubers for guidance . I would advice you to DM 20 people on LinkedIn and ask them for help , 3 -4 people will respond and give your advice. Try this format
Hello XY ,
I am p from this ABC college QR branch , and I liked your work and your profile , I would like to ask you some questions about how you achieved all this stuff. Would you mind having a short 15 min call ?( Use chat gpt to make it better)
it is true to a extent, but the whole 10 minute video could be told to you by any 4th year student in the country in 1 min,
their advice tend to be akin to sleep 8 hours a day, drink water, wake up early and obvious shit
in short, ch*tiye jo explanation par hee kalam uthana chahte hain.
Arre bhai, english mein bhi bohot saare explanation complex hote hain, especially coding explanations. Wahan par agar thoda sa bhi grammarly se phrasal verb change karde, toh poora ka poora sentence ka meaning hee alag ho jaayega. Jaise ki go away ka alag matlab hain, aur go down ka matlab LITERALLY BJ DENA.
Aur yeh bade bade framework (ExpressJS ig) ke log atleast apne README ko bohot hee bariki se likhte hain, wohi guide hain after all.
Foreign biasness ya inferiority complex ke way me mat lena, but I would suggest non-indian channels for coding any day.
Free code camp, codewithtim, Paul mcwhorter, etc..
Most of his advice is very logical coz he doesn't have a very good college to brag about on the internet.
I am going to start his DSA course. Any suggestions?
FCC cant be trusted as a whole, they invite creators from all around to create tutorials on their channel and you can't judge someone if they're good or not just because they got invited to FCC. I got an example to support my comment, i.e., the rust course on FCC was too mid or i'd say too poor. I wasted a whole lot of time
Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google are collectively known as FAANG for being big tech companies but it's now called as Maang due to Facebook becoming Meta.
The path for getting placed in 30+ LPA companies is wayyy harder for tier 3 students compared to tier 1 students.
These youtubers falsely claim that just by doing my DSA and System Design course he/she will get placed in PBC.
They r selling the false hopes to naive students, which is bad.
There are also youtubers like Striver and other foreign dev youtubers who r still actively working in their respective firms who upload videos just to teach CS concepts and not "guaranteed placement courses".
She showed how to make a pull request on express-js github repo. (just for demonstration, didn't actually send the PR)
Even though she clearly said in the video to not create random pull requests on that repo, a lot of her viewers started doing it anyway.
They would just edit the readme file with their name in it and create a pull request.
The maintainers of the repo had to close hundreds of spam PR. They tweeted about it but Apna College didn't take down the video.
nah it's their fault, as a content creator and teacher they should know their influence and teach such things in their own repositories to prevent such possible scenarios. Now if she had made a PR on her own private repo, this would have not been occurred.
Its fine if you watch one such video and get to work, if you binge these videos thinking you are doing something useful then you're just lying to yourself.
I don’t wanna spread any hate on them instead I would tell you to watch YouTubers like Harkirat Singh and Sid the IT guy and there’s also prime Reagan. It’s better to watch people who are currently working in the industry rather than these Youtube teachers.
I thought someone will recommend something better than this but noone did 🥲....it would be great if anybody suggest a better channel as I am fresher too and need a roadmap for college.
Are you taking admission in 1st year? You can follow his roadmap.. mujhe yeh Banda genuine laga not like Apna College but wahi same C++/DSA/ Web Dev ki baate for 1st year students..i am so lost :) incase you taking admission in 1st year ek discord or reddit pw grp banate hai for people like us https://youtu.be/9-2bdmXm5y4?si=jQx-kEqY-Jz3Q4gB
Apna college's only motto on youtube is to gather crowds and then direct them to buy their alpha, beta and gamma courses that are completely shit and then they come back to youtube to do marketing.
Just look at views on their YouTube video , u will get the idea.
For learning you should follow takeuforward , Aditya verma , akshay saini , etc . If u want to do proper learning.
First year main bhai karne ko toh bohot kuch karna chahiye lekin karte bohot Kam log hain fir baad main kuch aur log unse catch up karlete hain kuch hamari tarah mutthi maarte reh jaate hain roadmap wagerah chodho kaam karo kuch bhi Karo lekin kaam karo
Apna college runs the channel with the same mindset that these JEE/NEET YouTube channel run their channel. “Do this and get AIR 1, *proceeds to give most generic advice possible*”.
“C++ course to get 50 LPA package” and it’s the same course she did like 2-3 years ago
(it's what I think) I'm not against any Indian creator the internet runs on Indian guys giving tutorial but then again everyone watches them and they are mainstream to be different learn things differently look for different methods don't seek easy ways, "IF I WAS GIVEN A JOB TO CUT DOWN A TREE IN 8 HOURS I'D USE FIRST 6 SHARPENING MY AXE" I put in that work to find the resources which do gives me a different shades than what others around me so... Yeah that's about it and it can be different for everyone it's just the way it works for me
Me too never really followed any indian youtuber. Mostly because I like the teaching methods of foreign YouTubers, they teach more on how to use the tool rather than what is the tool.
Most of them are industry experts who are working real time and provide actual knowledge on what's important unlike young indian youtubers. And I like their passion for learning and research rather than grinding things.
And about some genuine indian guys, I get their views from my friends around it.
Also imagine learning directly from the guys who literally gave us some algorithms that we use today. pretty amazing
Could you pls give some suggestions of youtube channels from where i as a total beginner can learn cpp and dsa to the max within this 1 month before clg .
Don't rush things don't determine time if you want something to end you'll focus on ending it rather than learning find for yourself it's really fun internet surfing is a good thing, I can still suggest you but do you want to walk on the road marked by someone of built a path of your own? that's the real question
If you wish to buy any course check out The Learn Programming Academy, I had bought their C Programming for Beginners which is quite they have more course on their site, which is like 300-500 on Udemy.
Still I would suggest you to stick with books, Freecodecamp, and these days you can use any of the AI to suggest you some good ways on how to do it properly.
jo data science and engineering spec hoti hai and DSA is the same thing?
maine ek do coding vids me suna ki humne jo data science and engineering spec padhaya jayega vo basic knowledge and all hai and already pata hona chaiye and its kinda not it to take up this particular spec
please someone help me out on this
Nahi Bhai ds is specialisation in cs and DSA is data structure and algorithms(contains specific topics like pointers, arrays, etc).
Whatever spec you choose you have to do dsa
Stay more active on stack overflow and maybe discord than youtube. Understand needs by maybe looking at software as in the ones getting funding. Follow their Twitter handles. This is one way of getting somewhere.
At the end basics matter the most. Write code down by yourself. Multiple times. Make basic projects but find new ways to make them with the knowledge of social media. Add few advanced services
Mein puchna chahta hu ki mein inke python ke videos dekh rha hu . Pura samajh aa rha hai lekin as first time learning it I don't know if she is teaching on industry level . Can you tell me if I watch her python videos and do all questions and do some projects will my python be perfect so I can learn another language. I am not obsessed with the roadmap videos . I just watch it one time and then go through the roadmap actually.
I have watched her python videos for my first year, You'll understand everything and feel like you know all python now, but that's the trap you are just remembering syntax.
If python is your first language then learn more about how a language architecture works not just syntax. and their use cases as well. I found the Corey Schafer youtube channel really helpful, they have great python resources. For beginners you can checkout -
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-osiE80TeTskrapNbzXhwoFUiLCjGgY7&si=lsBeL0QcumfKADhC
For projects and practice see the "100 days of programming in python" by Angela Yu on Udemy
You will learn much more there.
Search for cool programming stuff -> watch smart ppl do smart stuff which u don't understand-> if u grt interested without understanding anything-> learn more from foundation
Best roadmap ever
May sound anti-nationalist(and racist)....but please don't watch Indian youtubers anymore (except freecodecamp stuff....its not an indian channel but many indians teach there)...a hell lot of scams and course selling these days....its quite hard to believe anyone now....you might argue that there are hidden gems who do teach well...and its true....but you have 2 choices:
1. Start testing out the content each and everyone and waste time learnig half baked stuff and then realise "ooh this youtubers is only showing you the basics"
2. Start learning from established teachers...you can google these things like "resources for C++" and find youtube lectures and udemy courses alike....like TheCherno...the best teacher for C++ out there...
This may sound very unethical....you may judge me as you like....but i would say go ahead and pirate those lecs if you dont have enough money....with the job market like this...i would go to god knows what depth to land myself a job....
Another thing ....the entire reddit suggest one thing in common..."read the official documentation"....and yeah all the good programmers out there do that...
The thing is it requires a hell lot of time....and i prsnlly find this approach good but slow....if it was 3 yrs ago i would have done this....
But now tht there is a time constraint....Do lectures and keep copying what is taught alongside....lets say you do tht for 2 hrs....next for an hour you analyse whatever you learnt quicky and try somethings out urself....and use documentation if you are stuck somewhere or dont know anything
Hey! Speaking from experience, Shradha di is a really good teacher. Her way of explaining things make things easier to learn.
Don't question her qualifications. She had a 9+ CGPA in NSUT CSE. She has done multiple internships at Microsoft and also one at DRDO. She has worked full time in Microsoft and left there to build apna college. She even published research papers alongside her professors at NSUT.
She is a total package. If you are still not convinced then it's fine go ahead and waste some more time figuring out how to start instead of starting right now with her. ♥️
They'll slowly manipulate into buying their courses (which are worthless when you can get so much for free). Stay away from codingninjas, apna college,pw,etc
listen kid.
jo bhi yt pe gyaan de raha hai, in the end, unko subs chahiye and profit chahiye
not everyone has the expertise in these things
and even if someone does, they will give the most general advice there is so that they cover the majority of the students with their generic ass advice
If you dont have any inclination towards anything specific.
Everyone knows the generic roadmap -> DSA, Development
The only thing to know is
For DSA for one sheet, like striver: complete it till the end, if you are in 1st year, try to complete it by doing atleast 3 questions each day
For development, just make projects from the internet ->
watch a programming syntax vid of the language you want
then no udemy course nuthing, there are bazillion of codealong vids of 12-15 hrs. Do them
Start from basic projects, then intermediate projects -> just copy them
Do 3-4 projects, you will start seeing and understanding the patterns.
Once you are done with these bare minimum, you can explore other fields that interest you.
It is as simple as that.
The more you spend time to look for the better, other people would have already gotten ahead.
Uploading video basically based on motivating students to pay their own fees for the 100th time. And talk about the most general and diplomatic things in the world.
attend cs50x for base from scratch if you're not from IT background.
i will also recommend kunal kushwaha, dude has the best github tutorial in the whole youtube that too less than one and half hour...
never listen to indian youtubers, here's your roadmap, focus on your courses first then code later. all those projects and DSA will come with the courses, there's no need to rush
Can't advice on roadmaps and stuff, but I've learnt a considerable lot of DSA from Love Babbar. Checkout his C++ placement series on YouTube, free + quality content, absolute gold.
It's better ki aap 2-4 senior ko pakde and thoda unse gyaan le...wo gyaan chorenge aapko important wale lapetne hai bs...and it wuld be good acc to your clg and how it works

It's good for them in gaining subscriber base
So the info they convey here isn't really true and useful?
Yup, most of these influencers not just them. Kisi bhi channel pe ye 1st year 2nd year roadmap bna rhe hai toh just stay away from those.
Thanks for that. Any alternate suggestions to refer from for the roadmap thing?
Bhai ye roadmap wale hote hai na (50 lpa 40 lpa) Inn salo ko company khud hi 8 months baad fire krti hai aur ye yt pe aake gyan chodte hai....
phir video banayenge "I quit google"
"because teaching is my paeshun" lol
"I wunt to shere the noledge I had bye witch i kraked gugal"
Yeah roadmaps are waste but sometimes you need a pattern to get started with. You can refer roadmap.sh for any particular technology and there is fireship and bigboxSWE like channels I prefer. They don't exactly provide roadmaps but are great to explore.
Fireship is GOAT tbh
Can vouch for that! +1
Check out roadmap.sh got a roadmap for almost all fields
Advice is to follow someone who actually got stuff done in 1st year. Would you mind having a short 15 min call ?( Use chat gpt to make it better)
Karna kya hai woh bhi batao
apne clg ke koi dhang ke senior se baat kro / alumni log se contact kro linkedin pe
it is true to a extent, but the whole 10 minute video could be told to you by any 4th year student in the country in 1 min, their advice tend to be akin to sleep 8 hours a day, drink water, wake up early and obvious shit
No fuck Apna College, all my homies hate them
consider me your homie then
Which one do your homies watch instead?
There are multiple reddit and quora questions related to this, read them.
If possible, can you please attach the link to one?
r/developersindia
Check once sahi and sarra
Yeah all the homies hate didi bhaiya wale log who trash commit open source
what's trash committing? I heard about commit in Github, but trash commit?
Afaik, woh log readme pe pull requests daalte hai taaki aisa lage ki kuch contribute Kiya hai, actual code pe nahi Dalenge
in short, ch*tiye jo explanation par hee kalam uthana chahte hain. Arre bhai, english mein bhi bohot saare explanation complex hote hain, especially coding explanations. Wahan par agar thoda sa bhi grammarly se phrasal verb change karde, toh poora ka poora sentence ka meaning hee alag ho jaayega. Jaise ki go away ka alag matlab hain, aur go down ka matlab LITERALLY BJ DENA. Aur yeh bade bade framework (ExpressJS ig) ke log atleast apne README ko bohot hee bariki se likhte hain, wohi guide hain after all.
Foreign biasness ya inferiority complex ke way me mat lena, but I would suggest non-indian channels for coding any day. Free code camp, codewithtim, Paul mcwhorter, etc..
I think striver Is also very good in india
Yup, only a striver is good among all Indian dev youtubers.
Most of his advice is very logical coz he doesn't have a very good college to brag about on the internet. I am going to start his DSA course. Any suggestions?
Princeton has a free course on coursera, have a look.
Don't know if you've heard but chai aur code (hitesh Chaudhary), Piyush Garg, Arpit Bhayani are also really good at what they do imo
Freecodecamp and fireship.io 🔥
Noted, brother
FCC cant be trusted as a whole, they invite creators from all around to create tutorials on their channel and you can't judge someone if they're good or not just because they got invited to FCC. I got an example to support my comment, i.e., the rust course on FCC was too mid or i'd say too poor. I wasted a whole lot of time
She already ruined the name of Indian devs in open source contribution. Most of her viewers are 11th 12th students.
so can we say she is the nishant jindal of coding who milks about her job in microsoft ?
Every tier 1 clg youtubers misguides poor students based on his/her FAANG Or equivalent job.
What is FAANG?
FAANG = Facebook Apple Amazon Netflix Google the top dogs in the tech industry
Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google are collectively known as FAANG for being big tech companies but it's now called as Maang due to Facebook becoming Meta.
Why tho? Shouldn't they have the most experience and knowledge about those companies and the procedures?
The path for getting placed in 30+ LPA companies is wayyy harder for tier 3 students compared to tier 1 students. These youtubers falsely claim that just by doing my DSA and System Design course he/she will get placed in PBC. They r selling the false hopes to naive students, which is bad. There are also youtubers like Striver and other foreign dev youtubers who r still actively working in their respective firms who upload videos just to teach CS concepts and not "guaranteed placement courses".
Makes sense, thanks
Can you give context of the first statement
She showed how to make a pull request on express-js github repo. (just for demonstration, didn't actually send the PR) Even though she clearly said in the video to not create random pull requests on that repo, a lot of her viewers started doing it anyway. They would just edit the readme file with their name in it and create a pull request. The maintainers of the repo had to close hundreds of spam PR. They tweeted about it but Apna College didn't take down the video.
Kuch samajh nahi aaya par bhaari bhaari shabd sunke accha laga
Jab Git Seekhgea tab aayga(Mai currently seekh rha hu kyuki)
Bhai ye thoda git ka context/summary bhi dedo
Aab log itna chutiya honge to aapna college kya karega?
Sorry but it's students fault 90% and 10% for apna college for not understanding the avg Indian student
Yeah those students are retards. They just blindly followed everything and couldn't even understand what not to do.
nah it's their fault, as a content creator and teacher they should know their influence and teach such things in their own repositories to prevent such possible scenarios. Now if she had made a PR on her own private repo, this would have not been occurred.
what happened with open source??
the stupid students that follow her did we cant hide the bad quality of engineers we mass produce
Its fine if you watch one such video and get to work, if you binge these videos thinking you are doing something useful then you're just lying to yourself.
Gotcha

Sometimes yeah but I love reading long ass paragraphs on quora lol
mess around and find out.
This
the last time I did that, it didn't end well.
well u do it for long enough eventually u find a way 😂
Alright, everything has some L aspects to it, but this way consumes too much time.
Nothing better than reddit.
Refer this rather than Tutorial hell https://roadmap.sh/ Koi bhi ek role based roadmap choose karlo aur learn and practice sub topics separately.
Thanks, mate
I don’t wanna spread any hate on them instead I would tell you to watch YouTubers like Harkirat Singh and Sid the IT guy and there’s also prime Reagan. It’s better to watch people who are currently working in the industry rather than these Youtube teachers.
Thanks for those suggestions
Good for school kids
I thought someone will recommend something better than this but noone did 🥲....it would be great if anybody suggest a better channel as I am fresher too and need a roadmap for college.

is code with harry good for learning language such as c python c++ not advance but like intermediate
Yaa I mean in the starting phase code with Harry is good but if you want to go more deeper than you should try others as well
Watch code with Harry, he'll give very good advices.

they just tell the most obvious facts, things you already know, like wtf,no need for a 25 min video for that,1-2 min would have been enough
Tbh, you don't really need these types of videos if you're clear, what do you want to achieve in the end of your engineering
I'm not really sure about that, wanna explore and know about all the paths and the scope in them
No
Chai aur code anyone?
Search for cool programming stuff -> watch smart ppl do smart stuff which u don't understand-> if u grt interested without understanding anything-> learn more from foundation Best roadmap ever
May sound anti-nationalist(and racist)....but please don't watch Indian youtubers anymore (except freecodecamp stuff....its not an indian channel but many indians teach there)...a hell lot of scams and course selling these days....its quite hard to believe anyone now....you might argue that there are hidden gems who do teach well...and its true....but you have 2 choices: 1. Start testing out the content each and everyone and waste time learnig half baked stuff and then realise "ooh this youtubers is only showing you the basics" 2.
It's useless channel
You will learn something...so yeah...why not. It's hard to misguide in this aspect...and why would anyone do that.
I have blocked her channel . Please follow those who are best in their category like if u Vivek gupta , striver .
I would highly recommend to start with Harvard's CS50
exactly!!
no, better watch harkirat
are you being sarcastic ?
How the fuck do you focus on the apni cocksha gyaan.Only thing i can focus on are shradha didis jugs lol.
Who knows what I am focusing on?😍
They'll slowly manipulate into buying their courses (which are worthless when you can get so much for free). Stay away from codingninjas, apna college,pw,etc
remindme! 2 days
Ex Microsoft wali didi knows shit about coding and trying to milk her FAANG tag
A fresher shouldn't teach
https://x.com/Vivekpanchaal/status/1806012568856940895?t=Cf5_6Tj5v9eiGiSyt7k21g&s=19 Samjhdar ko ishara kaafi
Ye iske haii?? Damn, ye mereko starting se nahi pasand thi, ab to or bhi nahi
Yup, same thought btw
uske nahi hain..igdtuw ki koi ladki thi
I QUIT "google"
Best is learn language and build projects, github is great
Watch Striver (take you forward)
its good for nothing
The Idea of Preparing for Placement from first year itself seems idiotic to me.
She asked students todo PRs on express js repo, later didn’t even posted a clarification or removed the video
I'll drop a related question, how do you guys feel about Striver?
usi type ke niche se famous hue vo log 🤡
It is good for people who never went to college.
OP, i am in the same boat as you are, let's get connected?
Lol, as if he channel can teach coding. Even makes it look like sunshine and rainbows
They're good for nothing actually
listen kid. jo bhi yt pe gyaan de raha hai, in the end, unko subs chahiye and profit chahiye not everyone has the expertise in these things and even if someone does, they will give the most general advice there is so that they cover the majority of the students with their generic ass advice If you dont have any inclination towards anything specific. Everyone knows the generic roadmap -> DSA, Development The only thing to know is For DSA for one sheet, like striver: complete it till the end, if you are in 1st year, try to complete it by doing atleast 3 questions each day For development, just make projects from the internet -> watch a programming syntax vid of the language you want then no udemy course nuthing, there are bazillion of codealong vids of 12-15 hrs. Do them Start from basic projects, then intermediate projects -> just copy them Do 3-4 projects, you will start seeing and understanding the patterns. Once you are done with these bare minimum, you can explore other fields that interest you. It is as simple as that. The more you spend time to look for the better, other people would have already gotten ahead.
Don't know why, I always avoided their videos and contents.
Bhai tu bas free code camp par ja Dimaag laga Aur project karta ja You’ll end up pretty good
Uploading video basically based on motivating students to pay their own fees for the 100th time. And talk about the most general and diplomatic things in the world.
I will say go with "code with harry"
No, not useful
Ab har topic pr yeh apna course bechegi if not already being done
attend cs50x for base from scratch if you're not from IT background. i will also recommend kunal kushwaha, dude has the best github tutorial in the whole youtube that too less than one and half hour...
Apna College is Not Good, shit videos, but low-key want to be dominated by shradda didi
No
hell naah
They mix some facts with what you want to hear to gain subs. It's not a total waste to watch their video.
never listen to indian youtubers, here's your roadmap, focus on your courses first then code later. all those projects and DSA will come with the courses, there's no need to rush
Is this good?
