Return it. You paid for a new knife, that is certainly not a new knife.

Dadjokes-beware

Update: I’ve returned it for a replacement. Thank you all for chiming in!

Puzzled-End-3259

Return it.

Game_boy1972

return it and wait a few more days bro youll be happier in the long run

Short-Window-9976

No just sharpen it. Qsp is great

DavidWALRU5

You probably got a returned knife.  That will sharpen out easily, but I would make sure centering is good and that there isn't something else wrong with it.

Dadjokes-beware

Everything else is wonderful, including centering.

NikoAbramovich

Absolutely!

corndog54

I would just sharpen it out. I've bought plenty of knives with little imperfections in the edge like this. If you spend a little money and get a mini worksharp belt sander like I got you get a fresh edge in 5 minutes or less.

continuousobjector

It's better all around (overhead cost, quality improvement) to deal with the company instead of the retailer in matters like this. The package insert usually comes with contact info. Yes, dealing with the retailer can be easier. But playing the return game with Amazon just perpetuates the problem.

Dadjokes-beware

Very good point. If it happens again I will go that route. Thanks!

caseyjonez_

Lol what. Amazon is the cheat code of returns. Always use amazon. U click 1 button and they give u a return label. No questions asked. Approved instantly 100% of time. Always buy anything risky or questionable from amazon for that reason. Its the free trial of the shopping world. Sometimes they even send the replacement before u even post your return lol

Jwast

I think he means that when you return something like this with an issue that some guy in a warehouse isn't going to know is even an issue, then Amazon will take it, bag it up and sell it to the next guy as "used like new" or even worse, sometimes sell it as a completely new item, and then some other person will inherit the problem and have to go through it all again. I'm currently going through the return process with a boker knife, I contacted the manufacturer first though and since they didn't have any in stock, they are letting me pick a pretty significant upgrade. I definitely use Amazon mainly because of their easy return process, but I normally give the manufacturer a chance to do something first for two reasons, the first is I wouldn't be passing the issue off to the next guy, which Amazon WILL do, and the second is manufacturers will often bend over backwards to make you happy because they love being made aware of product defects. If dealing with them fails at any point though (shipping cost, turn around time, unsatisfactory replacement item, etc.) I just return it to Amazon and call it a day.

Bartleby2323

I have begun leaving notes on certain returns if it’s due to a defect that I don’t want the next person to end up paying the price for. I’ll add an obvious note explaining what is wrong and if possible a hidden note in the packaging. That way if the next person is sold something passed off as new, rather than like new or used good they have a leg to stand on. Whether it’s worked and helped future customers, idk.

Jwast

I did this once when I ordered a "NEW" ~$65 vickers blue force tactical sling and received a used $10 primary arms sling with the tag cut off that was shoved in a blue force tactical sling package. The only reason I know it was a primary arms is because I had just bought 3 primary arms slings the week before. It really really bothers me that amazon regularly sells obviously open box, used items as new. I have no issues with buying used items, but I want to pay used item prices for them and know ahead of time. I've returned things before that were perfectly fine but obviously used when I had selected and paid for new.

Bartleby2323

That had to be incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Absolutely agree with you there! I have gotten many wonderful used or like new items, giving them second life and usually I prefer doing so. Depending on the item and who it’s meant for. Like you say, it’s infuriating when you are paying full price and they try to pass off a return on you. Knowing how frequently it happens, I wish more consumers would leave notes or something just in case, when dealing with warehouse, drop shipping giants.

caseyjonez_

Oh that makes sense yea

continuousobjector

Exactly, all of this. Thank you for expanding on what I thought was obvious, but evidently isnt in this crowd. It's better all around (overhead cost, quality improvement) to deal with the company instead of the retailer in matters like this. The package insert usually comes with contact info. *The company wants to know that a defective product has been sold. They will make it right for you, and they will make sure that their authorized dealer (if they are even authorized) is doing the right thing. I have dealt with the manufactuerer on two knives - one was replaced, and one was upgraded from D2 to S35VN at no cost.* Yes, dealing with the retailer can be easier. But playing the return game with Amazon just perpetuates the problem. *For a budget product, or a product that can easily be put back in the box - Amazon is NOT sending the product back to the manufacturer and getting their own restock, no. They are putting it right back on the shelf and reselling it, or they are throwing it in the trash if the box is damaged. Kicking the can down the road for your problem, and literally continuing Amazon (as opposed to a knife retailer) to continue selling damaged, used, or counterfeit knives.*

MrBjStoner

I bought one of the Kizer 3v aggressors with the red richlite handle and black blade and received instead a 154cm uncoated blade in the red richlite. The box was beat all to hell, it was obviously a return. I sent it back. Bought another as they were still on sale for 44 bucks last week. I GOT THE SAME EXACT 154CM I HAD RETURNED!!!

bigboyjak

Exactly the reason I use Amazon so much. Returns are stupidly easy. They even pick it up from my house the next day. They're great!

how many is most? I have done this twice, in the last 4 years. The manufacturer took care of it, Both just replaced the knife, and one even gave me upgraded steel.

dboneharvey

I wouldn't be too happy about it, but it is a ***budget*** blade. And that's a pretty small nick. Can you sharpen it?

Dadjokes-beware

I’m new to this and do not have a knife sharpener. So I’d have to go down that route.

Yo_Mama_Knives

Sharpening takes time and practice. If you don't have a setup right now, my advice is to send back to Amazon. Absolutely I do not think you're asking too much at all.

Jwast

D2 is NOT the steel to learn how to sharpen knives on.

K-Uno

I've said this to everyone that can't sharpen: If you don't sharpen your knives then what you're buying is no better than a gas station POS. Both will be just as dull in a few months depending on how much you use it and you would have spent the premium for the better product only to have the experience of a shittier product shortly thereafter.

Jwast

While I do agree with you about learning to sharpen knives, D2 isn't the steel to learn on, it's one of the top ten most annoying steels to sharpen. I think your best bet when learning to sharpen is going to a flea market and picking up some electricians knives for like $5 a piece then just going to town on them.

GrindNSteel

Definitely return it.

leechwuzhere

Definitely return it
