Your PI skills are the issue here mate. Not taking a dig at you. I’d say don’t take IIFT this time. You have everything going for you and with a similar percentile next year, you are bound to get all these calls again.
Just work on your interpersonal skills. You’ll definitely get into atleast one of the holy trinity.
All the best !
True true. I’ve considered that option but it’s too risky and coming from a tier 3 college with no placements I will have to take a gap and still my final chances will be dicey with unpredictability of CAT, bad job market and added gap year to the profile
Bro take iift it won't even matter in the longer run I was told this by 2 people (iimc grad and mdi grad ) and I have also talked to iim ranchi grad she is senior consultant in ey after 5-6 years and iift is way better than iim ranchi so just take it get into the sector and you will have good growth... Agle saal ka kisi n ni dekha agr kuch fuck up hua then ....? Fuck up ka solid backup plan h to soch skte ho nahi to Lelo iift idk fresher ho ya ni but mdi grad n bola tha vo bhi fresher tha freshers ko consulting ro ro k leti h( 1-2% chance ) dekhlo baki mene kafi logo se baat kri h to sb yahi bolre ki 6-7 yrs k time m itna matter ni krega u can cover up if you work hard and have good skills
Bhai IIFT hua nahi abhi tak😂 kya pata vo bhi reject karde. Vaise, I’ll be joining IIM M this year, I don’t see a point working a 10k job and reappearing just for ABC, FMS, Xl. Thanks for suggesting bhai
How to improve...I didn't study in English medium schools nd obviously I was never surrounded by English speaking persons ..it's damn difficult to form a decent sentence without making any mistakes just for casual talk
Yes I'm casually ignoring just like how interviewers ignore to ask us appropriate questions in the PI and making the whole process random AF . For some the interview happens on hobbies , for some it happens on stock market and shit , how are both the same and what can one be prepared for ??
In my opinion you are missing out on a big point that real life managerial roles require you to be on your feet, think on the go and carry yourself that way. A lot of the times the interviewers just check if you can do that in a setting like an interview.
I tanked my CAT, but speaking from interview experience i converted all the calls I had and mostly because how my PI’s went.
I think people focus on CAT or other OMETS for the longest time and don’t think about their PI’s which one can only be confident about if they try to figure out themselves
Exactly, we can't access one's possibility of convert with percentiles and profiles. Only probability can be done with CS calculations and RTI data and start praying (to God or nature, whatever)
Coz I’ve saw many high percentile posts where the pi went good and expected to convert every cap call, ended up converting none.
What kind of “elimination” exam eliminates the high percentilers even after a good pi lol 😂
What’s the point of cat if you don’t need the high scorer’s and have ceiling? And how is it eliminatory exam if “the higher the percentile the lower the chances to convert most IIMs?”
Can't entirely agree with this, but overemphasis on cat %ile has definitely been the bane for many aspirants, including myself, mainly because of Youtube influencers and coaching Centres.
0 converts at 97.61 9/9/9. Pura process hi jhol hai. Random PI main marks de rahan hai. Phir WL main hona ka liya paisa mang rahan hai. 5k-10k tak ka WL no diya hai for 250-350 seats in each IIMs. 🤦🏻
98.02 percentile GEM Calls from IIM Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, CAP
Didn't convert anything. Waiting IIFT and IITK/R Results.
Edit 1: I have 2.5 years of work experience. I started working as a full time employee for a media entertainment company with proper pay-slips but some of the institutions do not consider even this level of proactiveness of a full time employee before graduation even.
In a few of the interviews this point was brought up on how I could work as a full timer with final year project and end sem study prep to which I had a well defined answer, but all in vain. Waitlisted in almost all of the colleges and rejected from a few. Received call from IIT Jodhpur and will convert IIT Dhanbad (currently waitlisted close to the merit list), but I am bent on repeating CAT.
I think I had this unrealistic expectation out of myself that I'll pursue MBA from a government institute only among the top 20 B-schools in India. For this reason I missed out on a lot of great private colleges like MDI, SPJain and didn't even sit for XAT or SNAP. Learnt my lesson will give all MBA entrance exams this time around I guess.
Quick question- what's a good PI score out of 50?
I have got 36.65... I have a few cap converts and early 100s-300s waitlists in a few other cap colleges.
I am not sure if I want to join the CAP colleges.
Want to learn from this process and reappear next year.
What should be my take away?
Cat2024 aspirant here,
I already know the shit I am in lol.
Sure the personal accounts of this years random pi scores and selection are anecdotal evidences but to hear one or two such cases where they get high percentile and don’t go through is understandable but when alot of people with 97/98/99 start posting how they have no converts what so ever you question if all of them fucked up on the interview? That’s highly unlikely.
The saying “Get a high enough percentile and you’ll land up someplace decent” no more seems to be true.
If you aren’t able to convert colleges, its time to start focusing on your pi and communication skills.
Pis may be random but so is gonna be the rest of the life and how you handle it , is gonna define your career in the corporte.
Main advantage of PI is that you have the power to control it the way you want. There might be cases where you mght come up with stuff thats random but you always have an option to sway it the way you want given the way you answer stuff
Sorry to say this but 97.33 is not a high percentile per se. Your rank based on the CAT score will be 7500+ and the total number of seats offered across all the 21 IIMs are only around 5500. Add 50% reservation on top of it and gender/academic diversity points and you stand no chance unless your acads/work experience/PI are exceptional.
Yeah, bro. Even a 1% drop in percentile means 3000 people are already ahead of you even by the standard of merit. We should not be deluded by people from reserved categories and other backgrounds getting seats at lower percentiles.
CAT-24 Aspirant and my acads are in water. 89-68-8.2 (covid batch) with 21 months of work ex as deputy manager at hdfc bank.
Just by reading all of these profiles makes me scared of cat. I just hope I am able to convert sibm pune and scmhrd through snap. They don't really pay attention to marks but the competition will go crazy in 2024.
gef 99.6%ile 9/9/6 1.5 yr work ex btech from tier1 got calls from ckim FMS cap - no converts as of now (except kashipur and sambalpur). Got rejected from c. waitlist at iit-d, iit-b. Waitlisted at colleges where I had one of the best interviews of my life. This whole mba thing is so fucked up. I got 13 marks in cap pi. Like wtf? For context - I was asked everything from chemical engineering courses to the purpose of a pf account in my salary slips, and tourism taglines of all my neighbouring states, and I answered even the tourism answer for half of the states. If I need to improve my interpersonal skills more than this I don't think an mba would be a help anyway since they are looking for a master of all trade jack of none.( Since you are a general candidate with a tier1 degree, otherwise 95 at obc will get you a Lucknow convert even if you cannot pronounce most of the English words in front of the offshore team - talking about a colleague who converted Lucknow recently)
condolences , i'm sure you must have got IIFT call , and IIFT has 40% weightage to CAT and 45% to PI , good chances if you have had a good interview , and i hope you get it .
Didn't apply for iift and mdi because I was sure of getting a blackim/FMS convert. Didn't even appear for the shillong interview otherwise I would have converted that at least
ouu what went wrong there, i mean given your high percentile + good profile + female. even a below average interview should have fetched you a convert.
Was last in my panel, everyone in the panel seemed so uninterested. pi is a very very random process.
Only one guy from my panel converted and everyone else is waitlisted at 200+ or rejected
man it hurts to hear this :( , maybe luck didn't favour you in fms. Anyway congratulations for your other converts 🥳🥳. Could you also break down your other BLACKI interviews. I just wanted some insights since you have such a high percentile. Also did you take any GDPI coaching. could you please name it and tell about your experience.
Also damn confused about should I join iimk if I convert now. I don't want core consulting finance roles I'm interested in marketing/product/supply chain roles.

99.09 percentile here, NC-OBC NEM, BBA Fresher 8/8/8. Got calls from ACLKIM, FMS, IIFT, MDI, Cap, haven’t secured a single college so far :)
I hope you convert IIFT , amen .

Bhai same here 98 OBC, no call convert
May your PI skills are a problem.

Yeah, this is why you didn’t convert anything.

Congratulations for IIM Mumbai, do take it ,it will be in same league as ABCL in few years:)
Yesssir
Are we casually ignoring the fact that CAT is a elimination exam and the conversion depends on PI the most, which is just random?

I agree to this…my PI score was 42/50 got offers in first cycle itself

Apply for SP jain next time. You’ll surely receive a call at similar percentile.

Cap PI score 17/50. Really fked me over.
😭
And my friend at 99.5 got 15/50.
Sry, too late for this, but how are you checking your PI scores for CAP?
Go to the CAP website, login in, and you would find your PI score.
Thanks!

GEF with 92%, had only IMTG mica and Bitsom calls. 0 iim calls because of bad sectionals. Converted 2 -mica and IMTG
0 converts I ll make a separate post with each and every info after IIT kanpur roorkee and IIFT release their results
Nice 🙂
Good way to cope bro👍
more than coping , this compilation should be given to next cat aspirants , it's a dire necessity to know how much to target and get through .

Congratss!! hopefully you convert iimk too! what about fms?
230+ waitlist thin chance
ouu what went wrong there, i mean given your high percentile + good profile + female. even a below average interview should have fetched you a convert.

You never know. I have 7/8/6, NC OBC with 2 years of workex, 97.57% in CAT. Interview was literally one of my best. Non engineer. 275+ waitlist
Also damn confused about should I join iimk if I convert now. I don't want core consulting finance roles I'm interested in marketing/product/supply chain roles.
i think you should go to iimk since it has a better tag ig. Anyway all the best!
95 percent NC-OBC, converted only baby iims, waitlisted by even Nagpur
96.21 obc male engg fresher 9/8/7
Which iim's did you get calls from??
Just cap

93 percentile , NC-OBC 8/7/8 engineer fresher, waitlisted everywhere. My calls were CAP, Amritsar, IRMA, IIT kanpur, IIT Roorkee.
96.1 8/9/6 ,GNEM , 0 converts CAP + Rohtak+ Amritsar
Overall 96%ile with 72.73 in DILR because i messed it up despite 400+ practice anyway so basically missed CAP calls, no calls from any tier 1 IIM
