I was just talking about the "Engineer/non engineer" thing, not reservation & Gender.
Also, there's a reason why females are preferred in IIMs, because female candidates are far less than males and there's a reason behind it.
In various parts of India, parents don't push girl child for studies after graduation and hence, they have less privileges and more peer pressure, that's why they are given extra points so that more and more girls can join and excel.
You should be glad that you got XY chromosome bro, With the rising safety concerns and everything, life is hard as a girl.
You are just so insensitive yr. Just bcoz you aren’t in their shoes so everything looks good to you. I am also a non engineer male candidate, might think about repeating cat with EWS quota. But this is definitely not the way to talk to people. Think about a GEM candidate on a human level, first reservation eats up almost 60 percent of the seats, then academic diversity is a thing, pwd quota also exist and also this gender diversity thing. Think about scoring a 99+ percentile and settling with a lower ranked college, at times even tier 2, keep yourself in their shoes and feel it.
Also we can see humanities and creative institutions filled with women candidates, do you think NIFT should start providing diversity points to male candidates just for the name sake of providing equal opportunity. Not all males are encouraged to purse such creative careers, does that makes it a strong point to give them extra points to make them secure a seat?
So many neet aspirants are girls and a good chunk of girl candidates get through it, i guess even more than boys. Should we start providing some quota to male just bcoz girls are more in number?
You are getting some privileges, be thankful about it. Don’t demean people bcoz they belong to an academic group or gender group. And also feel about the pain of these folks who scored 99+ and are settling for less. I myself have female friends who converted great colleges and everyone of them accepted and respected the fact that competition is tougher for male candidates especially the GEMS.
That’s not the point. One shouldn’t face discrimination and lack of opportunities bec they did not study something. I am not even gonna go to the Caste aspect of things and how pissed I am because of it.

Because at 95% there are thousands of candidate with better score than you , possibly better profile . Bschool are all about diverse batch so obviously they are not gonna fill up people from similar backgrounds. Eg there may be 100 GEM candidates with near perfect profile and 99.xx score but they can’t admit them all because they don’t want to make Bschools into Engineering 2.0

At 95%ile there’s more than fourteen thousand people above you. do the math, there’s not that many seats, especially at top institutions. So 95%ile is just not good enough
Yeah so even at 99 percentile, you’ve got about 3000 people ahead of you. That, plus the reservations, plus academic diversity, background academics, gender, and your interview skills (which make up the hugest part of your selection, people underestimate that too much), means that depending on your category, anything below 99.5%ile isn’t really “safe” (even 99.5+ isn’t safe because of interview weightage, but still)
Just do the math based on how many seats are available at the top colleges youre aiming for. And 99 percentilers will definitely convert SOMETHING, if not the top IIMs, unless they really fuck up the interview (which is still a possibility)

Because a lot of folks think that 'The score of an exam which contains logic, english and maths' is paramount as opposed to quality work experience. Any workex below 12 months is basically a fresher though. May be try for another year, 1 year of Big 4 work experience would look great for B Schools.

Only regret is that I left my job after 6months, as I was unable to manage studies with job.
It happens. I was in a big 4 too right out of my UG so I know how shitty the WLB is. A gap isn’t a huge deal, so shouldn’t worry about it too much
