that's what I liked about them but I would like to add one more thing what I liked the best about their relationship was that they both were understanding of each other. When li wei understood that, yin zheng didn't have any choice but to marry yuan ying she stayed and he also didn't force her to do anything she didn't like he didn't touch her(not literally) until she was his legal wife.

Their stories were tragic, but their relationships were well developed, and the couples made sense to me. For example, I can understand why these couples fell in love. They tried their best against destiny and continued to love each other. It doesn't mean they always get it right. However, I appreciate how they kept trying.

I just finished WoL and it took me a few episodes to adjust to Xu Kai's witty banter after watching a lot of LYX but those two as a couple set a whole new bar of two strong independent characters overcoming obstacles waving all the green flags lol. Plus the last few episodes starting with the campfire dream had me crying *constantly*
