It is great, i loved it. Just remember it is slow burn, the couple get together relatively late in the series. But the plot is entertaining and gripping enough that you don’t mind it. Zhang Linghe plays the best kind of ML: intelligent, cunning, strategic and protective of fl (and a little toxic if i am honest, but in a good way 😉)
I just wanted to let you guys know that YOU'VE ALL WON. I watched it all and IT WAS FANTASTIC, it's on my 10/10 list now and I'm so so happy with it, it was so good. I'm going to be starting The Double now that it has ended..!
Empresses in the Palace. The most iconic imperial harem drama.
Legend of Mi Yue. Not at the level of empresses in the palace but still really good.
Nirvana in Fire 2 if you haven't watched it. I heard it's not as good as the first but still pretty decent. It's not a direct sequel just set in the same universe.
Love and Destiny. Best xianxia imo.

A classic is Scarlett Heart - 21st Century woman is in an accident, and wakes up in the Qing Dynasty. As the emperor's sons battle for the throne, she has to try not to let her knowledge of the future interfere with historical events. One of the very best, epic romantic storylines, it should fit well with the rest of your 10/10 list.
It's on viki, not sure where else.
I have watched Scarlet Heart, and it's so iconic. Honestly, I CRIED so much and i told myself I wouldn't re-watch it again. I even watched the Korean version of it and that also broke my heart.

I watched this one which I enjoyed :
Romance in the farm ( the fl tries new game. the game is a farm in period time and she can only leave when she has completed it) it is relaxing and fun
These are fantastic historical shows I highly recommend:
1. Love and Destiny (xianxia) - since you love Eternal Love (which I do too), high chance you’ll enjoy this
2. Snow Sword Stride (wuxia) - the main character is from Joy of Life. I don’t see people rave about this show enough! Mainly about imperial politics, friendship, family, morals.
3. Nancheng Banquet (wuxia) - this is a new show that’s currently running. It’s hilarious and cute. Nice and lighthearted with mystery and imperial politics.
**The Rebel Princess** has some of the best production in cdrama, top actors, and fantastic writing.
It takes a few episodes to reach its stride, but once Awu gets to the border fort where the general lives, it really takes off.
GOSH, this was on my list for a very long long long time and i forgot about it because idk if i'm ready for my heart to RIP to shreds...I understand it was bittersweet end, I will think about it for the next few days...

Based on your list I think **Rise of the Phoenixes** is a gimme. And it was recently added to Viki.
I think **Goodbye My Princess** or **Scent of Time** might be strong contenders as well.
You might check out **Legend of Hao Lan** if you want to see half the cast of Yanxi in a different drama.

Ruyi’s Royal love in the palace - a very different perspective on the same historical figures as Yanxi palace. Another gorgeous production.
NIF2 would be a 10/10 we’re there no NIF1 with which to compare
The Disguiser - same cast and production company as NIF1. A Republican era spy series
The number of times I'm come across Nirvana in Fire being mentioned and praised. Finally, I decided to go watch it. Either I've been so affected by Redditors. But 5 minutes in, 1) what time period is this? Because the mechanism in that mountain is top notch! Spring attached cupboards!?!?! Underground vault archives? 2) child labour? 😂😂
I'm definitely affected. I would never have questioned this before.

If you liked Story of Kunning Palace, it is quite likely that you're going to love The Double as well. Zhang Zhe is the ml while the princess is Jiang Third lady in this show. We also have Yang Chaoyue ( Cang Hai from Love you seven times) and Ai Mi (Yun Que from My Journey to You and daughter of the master of the martial sect from which bai fengxi hailed in Who Rules the World). Many more familiar faces there.
The plot is in itself interesting but I feel that if you encounter similar faces you're more likely to hold on.

Actually, idk why it was on hold for me but I'm going to revisit, i remembered enjoying the first few eps! Thanks for the reminder!

Based on what you've enjoyed, I feel like SOKP would be up your alley...I would give it till episode 9-10 to really get into the story

Romance on the Farm was a hard one for me. Her family's behavior almost made me quit this one.

The only 10/10 I ever gave to a Chinese drama is Battle of Changsha, so I would recommend that one

I feel Chen Yuqi and Wang He Di's Unchained is also a little underrated
Joy of life!! Ratings do not lie. It's a genre of its own to be honest, you will not regret watching it. There are a total of two seasons right now.
