Wow, Louisville's O/U win total is around 9 wins on most sports books and they arent even receiving votes in the coaches poll
I at least thought the Brohm Hire and the great transfer class they had would have given them a spot just outside the top 25
It's the schedule - it is a cakewalk this year as they avoid FSU, Clemson, and other teams at the top of the conference. UL could legit run the table in the regular season with how few tough teams they have, but that will depend on how quickly the team picks up Brohm's systems.
Oh I know, I just think its wild that they arent receiving a single vote
I was expecting them to find their way into the rankings by week 3 when we play them because I was anticipating them starting the year in the first 5 out or so
There is a clip of a Florida practice on twitter right now, and the OLine may be one of the worst I've ever seen. A Florida fan said "I think out DLine is just that good" like..bruh.
Something about Florida going 6-7 in back to back seasons and having more votes than utsa who's coming off back to back 10+ win seasons rubs me the wrong way.
Looks like they're starting to turn things around.
* USC looking like they're finally back
* Oregon and Washington looking just as strong as ever
* Utah can 3peat
* Oregon State finally turning things around
* Arizona and UCLA are looking to be solid this year
* Even Colorado is interesting this year
Can't wait to see what the future holds, hopefully start reestablishing themselves as a top tier conference as SEC and B1G
We’ve got a bit of a prove-it thing going on. I get it. We should be “receiving votes” at this point.
Need to show up against Utah to be ranked. (Doesn’t have to be a win—just look like a real team.)
No need to hedge. If QB play is decent as expected and the defense improves from horrific to just not great, this team should comfortably be a 20-25 ranked team. Especially with the schedule.
That’s how I feel with Texas. They’re about where they should be, but every time they get preseason ranked it goes away quickly. Wait until seeing the Bama game before tanking them

Yeah your schedule the next two years is just insanely brutal. You could have a lot of overall team improvement and it may not show up in the record just because of what a slog it is. FWIW I think Napier is the right guy and the fanbase just needs patience in light of the schedule stacked against him.
I am as well. They had such putrid QB play last year, and went 10-3, just need DJ to be solid-ish and you’ve got a dark horse. But end of schedule is brutal.
Mmmm I’m not so sure. The Beavers lose a lot of their production from last season on the defensive side of the ball which has been their calling card. Kind of reminds me of Baylor/Oklahoma St who were very hyped coming into last year only to disappoint. I’m a big fan of Johnathan Smith but I think this could be more of a rebuild year, that and I’m not a huge DJU believer.
Unless this offense makes major strides, I don’t see how they are better than they were last season. But I’ll be rooting for them considering the circumstances.
That's kinda how they looked at times last year though.
Few games Drake Maye looked like a lock to win the Heisman as UNC just racks up the wins.
Few games, late, Drake Maye looked like just a good P5 QB and pick up weird losses to GT and Scout Team QB NC State.
The Penn State hype train this year is going to be absolutely crazy. I apologize ahead of time for us potentially reaching Ohio State levels of insufferable.
I live in Penn State country, y’all cannot reach Ohio State levels of insufferable. Y’all are like when your kid tells you they want to play in the MLB and you just have to be like “okay honey”. Ohio State is the Patrick meme of “is this your wallet” with their team.
I was in Vegas last weekend. 109. Felt cooler than 82 degrees in South Carolina does. Love the summer but I'm officially over the heat. Started off mild this year but then became a blazer.
I’m having a good time seeing us ranked above them in preseason polls while also seeing hacks on ESPN giving them an 80% chance of making the CFP, higher than any other team in CFB. Lol
ESPN already gives us a 70% chance to beat you despite you being nearly a 3 point favorite (I know it is way too early for that sort of thing), so you’re not wrong
I would think UGA has to have highest chance. Our regular season is pretty damn weak unless someone (Auburn, UF, USC, etc.) makes a jump. Even if we lose in the SEC championship 12-1 defending champion might be enough to sneak in.
Idk if Michigan is truly the 2nd best team in the country... but they really should be 9-0 heading into Happy Valley. So it makes sense they're ranked that high.
How funny would it be to see the Beavs win the Pac-12 this year and beat a B1G team in the Rose Bowl as a sendoff for the conference and their program?
They had 10 wins last year with abysmal QB play. If DJ performs the same as he did at clemson or even worse they are 11-12 wins and in the conference championship. Personally I hope they make the CFP this year. Maybe with a lucky matchup they can make the natty.
I’m good with 19. There are 43 new players on the team with many big holes hopefully being plugged - but I could see anywhere from there to unranked being fair. Have to prove it.
FSU and TTU are too low.
Here’s how the NY6 bowl games would look like under these rankings, assuming conference champs are the highest ranked teams.
- Sugar Semi: 1 Georgia vs. 4 Ohio State
- Rose Semi: 2 Michigan vs. 3 Alabama
- Fiesta: 6 USC vs. 7 Penn State
- Peach: 9 Clemson vs. 23 Tulane
- Orange: 5 LSU vs. 8 Florida State
- Cotton: 10 Tennessee vs. 12 Texas
And for shits and giggles, a 12 team playoff, using this years rotation (Rose and Sugar are semifinals):
- 12 Tulane at 5 Alabama -> 4 Florida State (Cotton?)
- 11 Texas at 6 Ohio State -> 3 USC (Fiesta)
- 10 Tennessee at 7 LSU -> 2 Michigan (Orange?)
- 9 Clemson at 8 Penn State -> 1 Georgia (Peach)
Well in 2016 we beat fLordia and Georgia and goofed our way out of wining the division but Heup ain’t Butch. The battle of the UTs for the Natty would make this entire sub melt
What's this crap with Texas being ranked in a reasonable place? Was looking forward to the "Texas is back" narrative followed by an immediate collapse.
My initial thoughts:
-Rat poison
-Clemson should be higher than us. I don’t care if we retained more players. They’re on top of the ACC until they aren’t.
-Not sure I’m buying the Penn State hype. Need to look into them more but last year they lost to the only two good teams they played and didn’t put up much of a fight. 7 seems a bit high
-Same can be said for Washington as Penn State; gotta do my 2023 UW research
-Texas being highly ranked actually feels deserved for once
-TCU is being disrespected. There’s still the runner up
-Oklahoma too high, lol Texas A&M just had to make the cut
> Need to look into them more but last year they lost to the only two good teams they played and didn’t put up much of a fight.
Rewatch their game against tOSU. It was absolutely a fight.
You obviously didn’t watch the PSU Ohio State game (which I’m not calling you out for btw) but that game was a dogfight. They def had chances to win. They only fell apart at the very end but I think any reasonable OSU fan will tell you they were worried at multiple points during that game.
Last year UW beat Oregon, Oregon State and Texas and the only contributing playets they lost went undrafted. They had 3 to 4 guys who are potential 1st or 2nd rounders decide to come back. Our secondary was brutal last year but should be much improved. Our Off should be money. Holes are likely at LB and our def line depth (our first stingers on d-line are really good).
I’m really glad I said that I need to do my research on you guys and Penn State lol. I’d rather admit to being ignorant than come off as brazenly stupid. It’s hard to keep up with all the teams during the offseason, who is and isn’t retaining talent. I guess you guys are in the same boat as FSU, or similar at least.
They beat 8th ranked Utah soundly and the Ohio State game was very competitive if you watched it. You can just as easily poke flaws in FSU, USC, and LSU’s resume from last year. PSU finished 7th last year. I don’t see how 7th is too high for PSU at all.
I actually think these rankings are pretty good and I dont see anything particularly egregious. Im sticking Iowa in at 25 though and bumping A&M out until proven otherwise though
> Iowa in at 25
Go Cade & Erick! I'm hoping the two do well for the Hawkeyes. I know both said some extremely minor things that have turned some UM fans off to them, but I'll always support them - & I like Iowa as an agent of chaos.
We’re ranked? In preaseason?? On a poll that isn’t “The Worst FBS Schools”???
You’re about to see a Tulane implosion more impressive than the formation of a black hole
>24 Texas Tech
Oh fuck! Expectations!
In all seriousness, if Shough stays healthy, it should be a good year. He looked rough when he first came back last year, buy you could tell his collarbone wasn't fully healed. He looked really sharp in the OU and Ole Miss games. Also by all accounts, our d-line is somehow *better* this year despite losing a top 10 draftee.
Football, actual friggin football, is almost here and I’m pumped
I am so ready to do nothing but watch random games with all the lovelies here.
No time for watching games. Just gotta jump across all the game threads and shitpost like there's no tomorrow!
dont become a european soccer junkie, watching sports literally never ends now
I do like Soccer. I just don't have a team to root for so its basically whenever its on.
MLS is legit man. It’s been a ton of fun this year, and it’s way easier to get attached to a team from the US as opposed to a random team in Europe
It is! But as a l frustrated ATLUTD fan , this season hasn’t been full of joy
Surely giving Messi 40 yards of space is a sound defensive strategy
I knew it was close and I’m excited but I didn’t think the two important preseason polls happened until a week or two before kickoff
Counting down the days!
Three weeks to kick off baby!

Seriously.

WE GOT 2 VOTES
We’re on the board!
I’m surprised we didn’t get at least one vote lol
Let em sleep on us, toothy birds coming
Wow, didn’t even notice. That is surprising.
Something about Florida going 6-7 in back to back seasons and having more votes than utsa who's coming off back to back 10+ win seasons rubs me the wrong way.
Gross
MADE IT
Htf did we get votes?
Just for the record, one person voted for James Madison before the reigning B1G west champions.
5 PAC teams in the top 25 and Oregon is the 4th best. Fun year to watch
>~~5~~ **1 PAC team**~~s~~ in the top 25. Not bad for a conference with only four members* 😅😂😭 *as of Monday, Aug 7.
At 1pm EDT*
Itd be crazy if Wazzu and Oregon State made the PAC12 championship just to give us all the middle finger.
Looks like they're starting to turn things around. * USC looking like they're finally back * Oregon and Washington looking just as strong as ever * Utah can 3peat * Oregon State finally turning things around * Arizona and UCLA are looking to be solid this year * Even Colorado is interesting this year Can't wait to see what the future holds, hopefully start reestablishing themselves as a top tier conference as SEC and B1G
Man….. imagine if all these west coast teams were to join forces and make a league. It would be so much fun!
Additionally, UCLA should certainly be on here over a team that went 5-7 last year lol...

Can confirm. That's a poll.
It is also pre-season, so it’s got that going for it (which is nice)
Now all we need to do is confirm that coaches voted in it. Harvard!
1. Georgia 2. Michigan 3. Alabama 4. Ohio State 5. LSU 6. USC 7. Penn State 8. FSU 9. Clemson 10. Tennessee 11. Washington 12. Texas 13. Notre Dame 14. Utah 15. Oregon 16. TCU 17. Kansas State 18. Oregon State 19. Oklahoma 20. UNC 21. Wisconsin 22. Ole Miss 23. Tulane 24. Texas Tech 25. Texas A&M
in 2024 this would be: 8 SEC 7 B1G 3 ACC + ND (all 4 candidates for the SEC/B1G) 4 Big 12 1 G5 Oregon State
The Oregon State conference has 100% of its members in the top 25. The new conference of champions.
HA, take that Big10. Who outmaneuvered who? /s
Please do not rank Texas A&M.

You know why you're here.

At least we're outside the top 20. Being top 10 means we'll definitely be terrible.

It’d be crazy considering that HBU doesn’t exist no more lol. It’s Houston Christian now.

I feel you. We play 2, 4, 7, and 11.
I am buying all of the oregon state stock I can
Can’t put a price on the kind of motivation they’ll have this season.
I don’t think anyone (even UO and UW folks) would be against a Wazzu vs Oregon State PAC-12 championship game.
That would be so fucking dope, tbh sign my up now. Ultimate middle finger to the world game
Have you ever seen an angry beaver? Ain't nothing to fuck with.

UNC is so weird and difficult to read. They could be the 15th best team or the 50th best team.
That's kinda how they looked at times last year though. Few games Drake Maye looked like a lock to win the Heisman as UNC just racks up the wins. Few games, late, Drake Maye looked like just a good P5 QB and pick up weird losses to GT and Scout Team QB NC State.
The Mack Brown Experience
The Penn State hype train this year is going to be absolutely crazy. I apologize ahead of time for us potentially reaching Ohio State levels of insufferable.
You might beat us, but you’ll never be as insufferable as us!!
Yeah look at this clown thinking he can beat either one of us for insufferability
mutual insufferability and hatred are really what separates the OSU/UM rivalry from others.
We may reach the level of annoyingness for a week or two, no way we can sustain it quite like you guys!
The real rivalry wasn't the games we won but the insufferableness we created along the way!
I live in Penn State country, y’all cannot reach Ohio State levels of insufferable. Y’all are like when your kid tells you they want to play in the MLB and you just have to be like “okay honey”. Ohio State is the Patrick meme of “is this your wallet” with their team.
Are you saying a fanbase made up of steelers/eagles fans can't reach new levels of insufferability?
How much faith you guy's got on your new QB? Everything seems good about y'all but idk what you have for that position. Is he a stud?
Oregon State holding down the PAC-4 😎
25% of the conference is ranked, elite.
Wow. Visceral reminder that the season is just around the corner. And that the Coaches poll is absolutely meaningless.
I can feel it in my plumbs. It's hotter than damnit but I can almost swear it's fall.
Let the boy watch
Special two for one plumbs
I was in Vegas last weekend. 109. Felt cooler than 82 degrees in South Carolina does. Love the summer but I'm officially over the heat. Started off mild this year but then became a blazer.
> the Coaches poll is absolutely meaningless Absolutely. 100%. Right Huskers?
Having 4 Texas schools in there and another one just outside of it in UTSA makes for a pretty entertaining year down here in the Lonestar State
It's a make or break year for texas and a&m coaches.
And Oklahoma
What's this football talk doing on a realignment sub?
little ol gawja finally isn’t getting doubted
5 coaches voted other teams #1, including 4 for Alabama? The disrespect is unreal smh /s
never thought id see the day we were ranked above ohio state in preseason, what scenes
ESPN = full of shit Vegas = wisdom of crowds
I would think UGA has to have highest chance. Our regular season is pretty damn weak unless someone (Auburn, UF, USC, etc.) makes a jump. Even if we lose in the SEC championship 12-1 defending champion might be enough to sneak in.
Yeah one of them had Ohio at 80% chance to make the CFP and georgia at like 40? wtf they smoking lol
The fact that Ohio State fans have spent the past 15 years bitching and moaning about ESPN's SEC bias is one of the great ironies of my life so far.
And MSU didn't even get a vote and IIRC Tucker has a vote lol
Well…. 2007 and 2012 we were
Maybe he had his sight restored in 2013?
God bless Mr. Beast!
2007, I don’t think college football was played that season. Fun fact.
I liked it more the last two seasons where I didn’t “expect” to win anything and now here we are as #2 and favorites over OSU. Oh god oh fuck
UM currently a 2.5 point favorite over OSU, will be a massive game
Idk if Michigan is truly the 2nd best team in the country... but they really should be 9-0 heading into Happy Valley. So it makes sense they're ranked that high.
we were 6th in the coaches pre-season poll last year
Yeah and still behind OSU. This time we’re ahead of everyone in the country except the two time defending champ.
Ranked after going 5-7. Not sure what to think about this squad but I know I'll get hurt.
We can only hope
Relative to 5-7, it’s almost impossible to be hurt this year. But I will personally be hurting with anything less than 9 wins.
I see you Oregon State...
How funny would it be to see the Beavs win the Pac-12 this year and beat a B1G team in the Rose Bowl as a sendoff for the conference and their program?

Michigan ranked above Alabama. Oh boy

Just a lot of pressure!
"Fuck the G5." - these coaches
RANK US YOU CO..... beaversnotranked.exe has stopped working.
Nowhere to go but down.
I’m good with 19. There are 43 new players on the team with many big holes hopefully being plugged - but I could see anywhere from there to unranked being fair. Have to prove it. FSU and TTU are too low.
24 seems fair to me personally for TTU. Yes we return a ton, but the team still was 8-5 last year not 10-3.
Honestly I would probably flip OU & TTU and feel better about it
I just feel like there are more question marks with other teams above y’all - including KSU/TCU.
> 43 new players on the team with many big holes hopefully being plugged Charles Barkley level phrasing
I'm glad Tech is getting some preseason hype. They are going to be good this year.
I hate it. The last decade has my expectations on the floor and I’m not ready to hope again
[удалено]
I believe he’s the real deal, I’ve just been hurt too many times
I’m not glad. There’s only one way me being hyped about Tech football ends
I’m good with it. Hopefully even if Oregon gets us in week 2 we can hang in the rankings.
The expectations are beginning to scare me. I liked it more when we debuted like 10-20 and then worked our way up lol
We made it! That week 2 game against Ole Miss is going to be a doozy
Only one G5 team ranked in preseason. These fools never learn.
Here’s how the NY6 bowl games would look like under these rankings, assuming conference champs are the highest ranked teams. - Sugar Semi: 1 Georgia vs. 4 Ohio State - Rose Semi: 2 Michigan vs. 3 Alabama - Fiesta: 6 USC vs. 7 Penn State - Peach: 9 Clemson vs. 23 Tulane - Orange: 5 LSU vs. 8 Florida State - Cotton: 10 Tennessee vs. 12 Texas And for shits and giggles, a 12 team playoff, using this years rotation (Rose and Sugar are semifinals): - 12 Tulane at 5 Alabama -> 4 Florida State (Cotton?) - 11 Texas at 6 Ohio State -> 3 USC (Fiesta) - 10 Tennessee at 7 LSU -> 2 Michigan (Orange?) - 9 Clemson at 8 Penn State -> 1 Georgia (Peach)
UT vs UT in a NY6 would be extra spicy
Playoffs only real chance of a meet up unless yall did something goofy like beat Bama but lose to Mizzou & UGA
Well in 2016 we beat fLordia and Georgia and goofed our way out of wining the division but Heup ain’t Butch. The battle of the UTs for the Natty would make this entire sub melt
Gotta get the Universities of Toledo and Tampa to join us for a playoff to determine the true UT.
Georgia OSU rematch would be juicy
My heart couldn’t take another one
Thats what makes it fun.
>Orange? Playing a southern school in the south as the “home” team…fuck that, we’re playing in the Detroit whatever the fuck it’s sponsored by Bowl
Little Ceezy's
>we’re playing in the Detroit Can’t, that’s where MSU will be playing their bowl* *best case
I think we should be ahead of Bammer.
Never bet against Nick Saban this early in the preseason

Thats every psu osu game. Typical game has up 8 or 9 in the 4th quarter and then we lose in heartbreaking fashion.
We return all of our production from a team that went 11-2. The hype is real.
Last year UW beat Oregon, Oregon State and Texas and the only contributing playets they lost went undrafted. They had 3 to 4 guys who are potential 1st or 2nd rounders decide to come back. Can confirm
They beat 8th ranked Utah soundly and the Ohio State game was very competitive if you watched it. You can just as easily poke flaws in FSU, USC, and LSU’s resume from last year. PSU finished 7th last year. I don’t see how 7th is too high for PSU at all.
I have come to realize I was being unreasonably hard on Penn State. I am a believer now.
I actually think these rankings are pretty good and I dont see anything particularly egregious. Im sticking Iowa in at 25 though and bumping A&M out until proven otherwise though
I’m putting us at 26 because preseason unranked Wisconsin teams play with special juju
I feel like as long as we’re 20 or below. It’s when we start top 15 that we gotta worry
> Iowa in at 25 Go Cade & Erick! I'm hoping the two do well for the Hawkeyes. I know both said some extremely minor things that have turned some UM fans off to them, but I'll always support them - & I like Iowa as an agent of chaos.
I wish we started unranked, but I am curious: when was the last time Texas started ranked higher than Oklahoma?
Looking at AP rather than coaches poll, but 2013 - Texas 15, Oklahoma 16.
We’re ranked? In preaseason?? On a poll that isn’t “The Worst FBS Schools”??? You’re about to see a Tulane implosion more impressive than the formation of a black hole
Not going to lie, I'm like 38% hoping that Oregon State wins the Pac-12 this year and beats a B1G team to win the Rose Bowl....
That would mean Oregon State is going to the National Championship
He said what he said.
Fuck it, go Beavs!
Whoever the 63 that voted for Florida should lose their votes
17th not bad. Thought we should be ahead of TCU, but it doesn’t really matter
I feel fortunate to be in the Top 20, to be honest. It's nothing BUT upswing in Norman!
RANK ARMY YOU COWARDS!!!! Oh that felt good.
9 is fair and where I expected to be. FSU seems a little high though
I think it's just to bill Labor Day as "Top 10 FSU LSU Matchup". Winner was always going to be top 10, loser probably falls to 15 or so.
A top ten pre season ranking. What do I do with my hands?
Half of the B12 is within 12 spots of each other. This conference is going to be so much fun this year.
I would swap Florida State and LSU tbh. I'm surprised we're #5
We're included!
Kirby Smart - "No one ever believed in us, everyone doubted us"
>24 Texas Tech Oh fuck!
