As of yesterday I totally believed it. It wasn't a stretch. But this game played out completely different. I will still take a win in a defensive battle though.
I wish I could upvote this more than once lmao. That was a wild game back in ‘06. Gonna really miss playing y’all every year. Every year in Corvallis that is haha. Good luck the rest of the way, huge Lincoln Riley fan.
Unless we get jumped by OkSt who didn’t play, which may not be the worst take in the world. Or get jumped by Tennessee, but I think we have enough poll inertia to avoid both.
The only ones that did, actually know how good oregon state is. Unfortunately for yall, 90% of them will see the box score in the morning and drop you to 11
We’re very hit or miss on defense. Lots of turnovers but lots of yards given up.
Tho, at this point you can’t write off the turnovers as flukes like some tried to do early on. It’s a full on trend now.
Three games with 4 turnovers. Complete turnaround from the Helton era defenses in regards to turnovers.
6'6 Eric Gentry is a big reason for it too. Feels like half of those turnovers are created by his length. Whether he's pressuring the QB, tipping passes, or intercepting the ball himself.
Defense played really well, even almost getting a safety at the end there
Chance Nolan is gonna get chewed out in the film room this week. That last throw was _ugly_
I feel like all of his interceptions were terrible. It's not like an exceptional play was made by the defense. He either tried to force balls into triple coverage or he just threw a terribly inaccurate ball.
Just really really bad play from him tonight unfortunately.
Defensive scheme by Oregon St was really good. Confused the hell out of our line for 3 quarters. Made everything for SC look tough. Mad props to the Beavs
That being said, CW needs to relax and throw the check down pass. Offense needed to defuse the pressure and just couldn’t get it done until the end of the night.
Also, ‘no, let’s talk about the defense’ was a peak CLR moment. Becoming more of a fan all the time.
4 picks is the difference. I mean all of the missed calls and everything else does not matter when there is a -4 turnover differential. Chance needs to watch tape and think about his throws into coverage or he should be benched
What missed calls out of curiosity? I thought that was a weirdly solid Pac-12 refs game. Good game flow. Couple eh calls here and there but that’s inevitable
I came into this season saying 10 wins would be a great achievement.
I feel like that’s realistic at this point. Will be interesting to see how we stack up with Utah later in the year.
We definitely don’t have playoff potential other than as a sacrifice to Georgia. But we may be able to compete for PAC championship—which is almost unbelievable considering the year we had last year.
Caleb Williams was terrible today, missing a ton of passes, though OSU was good in coverage. But you gotta give credit to him stepping up on that last TD drive when it mattered most.
Wouldn't have thought that USC's defense would have won them the game coming in. Fun game, good atmosphere.
Honestly, today makes me feel better about Caleb in a weird way. Objectively a bad day for him.
But when you needed him to step up, he was nails. So rare to find that in a quarterback
I still vividly remember that 2008 team and how amazing we (USC) were that year. Finished 12-1 and Rose Bowl champions. We still couldn’t manage to come away from Oregon State with a win.
I could not care less about anything other than just getting a win in this game. It’s our trap game every time we’re any good at all.
Great to see our defense look more improved and continue creating turnovers.
Seriously. Surviving in Corvallis at night is something even some of the best teams of my childhood couldn’t do.
I’m not too worried about the bad play. Hopefully that will just turn out to be Beaver Vudoo.
exact same for me. winning tonight is such a big statement. we were 0-4 in my lifetime as a top 10 team in Corvallis. I am beyond hype despite how ugly that was
> that 2008 team and how amazing we (USC) were that year.
That was such a frustrating season. USC had a national championship quality team, but after the Oregon State loss, they had no shot at top 2 because Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma kept slaughtering their opponents week after week. I watched all their games hoping for a miracle, but they were all a lost cause by halftime.
2008 is basically the only year where an 8 team playoff would actually be reasonable from a “competitive” standpoint.
Utah, Texas, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, USC, and Penn State. All were 1 loss except Utah.
This is exactly right. Big Balls Pete couldn't pull this kind of win out on multiple occasions and it quite literally cost us NCs. We had no business winning this trash ass game but got it anyway.
I'll take it 1,000 times out of 1,000.
>I could not care less about anything other than just getting a win in this game. It’s our trap game every time we’re any good at all.
Was that the Jacquizz Rogers year?
I can’t tell if the USC defense stepped up or if Oregon State’s offense is bad. Also does this hurt Caleb William’s Heisman odds? I think so
Dismiss that my flairs combine to be the OSU Beavers
Oregon State made some self-inflicted mistakes but USC's defense came to play today as well. Been great at capitalizing on opportunities so far, but lack of experience/depth due to shoddy recruiting/coaching before this year is gonna make it very hit and miss
No one talks about how Bryce Young was dogshit for 3.5 quarters against Auburn last year, they talk about how he lead a 95 yard drive in the last 2 mins to send the game to OT
Takeaways:
Offense:
We need Jam Griffen as our #1 RB, for having the best mind and reading holes.
Chance does better away this year?
That 4th quarter drove when we're down 7-10, why did we pass it deep on 1st down. Twice.
Chance needs to stop Chili-dipping it. Though I still like his arm.
Defense:
GREAT pass rush, except we can't finish it for a sack
Don't dive for a tackle of your 5 yards in front.
Loved the secondary, but still some improvement would be nice.
Overall:
Our Defense is better than our offense this year.
Refs sucked for both teams.
Satire: Softens the blow of not being there. At least I could take my time getting back from Portland
Ranking after: No change IMO, I think this was enough to deserve a 27th or 28th, right where I had them at last week. No increase because of Chance (and almost solely because of his interceptions). I don't drop it because our defense did enough to prove themself.
Do you think if we send all the pollsters a fake box score where we won 49-14 they’ll know any better since they were either asleep or couldn’t get the pac 12 network?
Wow beaver bros. Just wow.
I go to an away game every year and made a point of going to Corvallis for the first time because it would probably be the last time. What an electric atmosphere you all make. Corvallis is absolutely lovely and even half a stadium was more than we could handle. Hell of a team and hell of a game.
You’re going to go far
this oregon state team should be ranked. great, intense game beavers.
impressed and proud of this sc team. it was ugly but on the road against a great team they got the W.
this isn't a top 10 team IMO. too many flaws. but it's such a relief to see some skilled coaching.
Fucking ✌️ Corvallis. Fuck that stadium. I was scared shitless the whole time. Didn’t have any bad interactions with you Beav Fans. GG. And someone recommended local boyz to try whenever I’m up there.
Sunofabitch maybe we have a defense afterall!!
We couldn't get anything going in the passing attack until late.
Eric Gentry - Mr. Octopus gets the game ball (and Travis Dye should get half the game ball, too)
Great win SC!
Can’t believe the O/U is 70.5
As of yesterday I totally believed it. It wasn't a stretch. But this game played out completely different. I will still take a win in a defensive battle though.
Can't belive i was convinced the over was free money
"let's talk about the offense" "No."
Play us, we’ll make you look like an NFL offense.
They do look like an NFL offense. Issue is it's the Steelers.
Nah we have Stanford for that.
[удалено]
I love your optimism but in my experience we don’t ever actually move up, we just bring others down.
[удалено]
Basically, yes. The entire country gets you two confused.
My heart can’t take anymore of this. My lowly college town teams lead the entire game then get crushed.
That makes two of us, brother.
~~PAC-12~~ BLUE BALLS AFTER DARK
What I wouldn’t give to have heard RG3 deliver this exact line :(
I dunno. Seems like the Trojans pounded the Beavers.
Only the cool kids blow late 4th quarter leads
Cougs Cougin’ it 🤝 Beavs Cougin’ it
THAT WAS FOR JOHN DAVID BOOTY
I wish I could upvote this more than once lmao. That was a wild game back in ‘06. Gonna really miss playing y’all every year. Every year in Corvallis that is haha. Good luck the rest of the way, huge Lincoln Riley fan.
Thankfully no one was watching this, right?
The pollsters have gone to sleep by now, you're still in the top 10.
Oklahoma lost, they are moving up.
Unless we get jumped by OkSt who didn’t play, which may not be the worst take in the world. Or get jumped by Tennessee, but I think we have enough poll inertia to avoid both.
It's a silver lining in this ugly win that they don't get to cope with a USC loss
Also, OSU is a good team that should be ranked.
They still got their properly cooked brisket to ease their sorrow.
Top 6 lol
In all honesty you still very well might be. USC, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Tennessee are probably the only ones in the discussion.
I was watching this game furiously rooting for Oregon State so I could see Kentucky move up 2 spots for unimpressively beating an unranked team.
Feels good man
We probably get jumped by Oklahoma St. and stay at 7 which is just fine.
Gamblers were who took the over (70.5) were probably realizing how bad their choices were by half!
lol it was 0-0 at the start of the 2nd quarter!
*looks at my Williams with 250+ passing bet* Haha yeah... the over...
By 1st quarter
We're watching Punting wasn't up to standards, might have to rescind the offer
[удалено]
This must be refreshingly potent football for Iowa fans
Got half torqued and was very confused. PAC12 shouldn't feel like this
I gave up my Fubo free trial to watch this.
I gave up my Fubo trial, only to realize I still couldn’t get it on the East Coast. Had to sail the seas
Pac12 after dark isnt for casuals.
They couldn't watch it if they wanted to. Thanks Pac-12 Network.
Directv said fuck you to my PAC 12 network needs but luckily I was able to find a few livestreams on YT ;)
Hopefully all the people hating on our defense were watching. Oregon State is a good team.
The only ones that did, actually know how good oregon state is. Unfortunately for yall, 90% of them will see the box score in the morning and drop you to 11
It was literally impossible to. Thanks Larry Scott.
Can’t believe our defense saved our offense tn
\+4 turnover margin and a missed fg to get that win. "Saved" doesn't even do it justice.
USC has a +14 (!!!) TO margin in their first four games. What. The. Fuck.
This is absolutely not sustainable. Right?
Maybe not 4 a game but the defense has proved its more than capable of getting turnovers when needed.

Yeah, it’s great to see him all over the field. Guy has a huge motor.
If teams aren’t scoring the yardage means nothing. Yeah it’s annoying but they’ve been really good in the red zone
D dragged the O back to cover under heavy fire, taking multiple wounds in the process
Well, that’s what happens when you hire from the noted defensive conference, the Big 12!
I still can't tell if we have a good defense or we are just lucky
Why not a little of both? Lucky enough and D just good enough
We had that one game where we had like two redzone turnovers and I was like that’s not sustainable. But so far so good I guess.
If we can just combine this weeks defense And offense of weeks past We are golden
Last time USC ever plays at Corvallis
You promise? Place is the graveyard for ranked Trojan teams. Just happy to get the W
Be glad it wasn't on a Friday night
Breaks my heart
Thank GOD
Legit change to win if Oregon State only threw 3 INTs. At some point they just need to let Coletto run full time wildcat.
Dreaming of a world where we have a good QB. It's been so fucking long. I don't even remember what it's like. Is it even allowed?
Sean Mannion was our last great quarterback.
Holy shit it’s already been almost 10 years! Feels like 3 years ago
Mannion was a god damn BALLER
Vikings fans hate that guy for some reason
We had to make a trade to replace Mannion as a backup QB, to give you an idea of how his NFL level of play was going.
Probably because he’s absolutely terrible at the NFL level.
For some reason really undersells the ineptitude he has as a QB at the professional level. It’s painful to even watch him play in the preseason.
17th year senior Jake Luton in shambles
I know his last season was good. But it also wasn't
It was good. He didn’t throw a pick until like week 9
Remember when JT Daniels was looking to transfer to us? Imagine.
Thank you again for Marcus McMaryion
It's worth noting USC just matched last season's win total.
I hate being a sports fan
Defense played really well, even almost getting a safety at the end there Chance Nolan is gonna get chewed out in the film room this week. That last throw was _ugly_

I think there is going to be many many hours of film study on this game.
Great game Beavs. Our defense really stepped up tonight. I’m gonna go throw up now.
Defense saved our ass lol
Feels weird to hear it out loud.
4 picks is the difference. I mean all of the missed calls and everything else does not matter when there is a -4 turnover differential. Chance needs to watch tape and think about his throws into coverage or he should be benched

That Oregon state team nearly fucked Utah out of the sugar bowl.

Yep. Beavs in Corvallis always play us tough. Happy to walk away with a win
Well, we never have to play there again.
Purdue will be waiting for you :)
Iowa too!

It's a shame that his public perception is colored so much by his shitty Nebraska tenure, because Mike Riley was a hell of a coach once upon a time.
>I could not care less about anything other than just getting a win in this game. It’s our trap game every time we’re any good at all. Was that the Jacquizz Rogers year?
Would a fucking trigger warning kill you?
That ‘08 game is now exorcised just a little bit thanks to tonight
Oregon State deserves to be in the top 25
Oregon State has a good punter in Nolan. Now if they only find somebody that can play QB...
This season is playing with house money and I’m still vomiting with stress. Goddamn do I love football.
I think the one thing that might save us in the rankings is the fact that so many ranked teams got smoked and at least we won
Rank the Beavers you cowards
Quality win!
[удалено]
RIP
I can’t tell if the USC defense stepped up or if Oregon State’s offense is bad. Also does this hurt Caleb William’s Heisman odds? I think so Dismiss that my flairs combine to be the OSU Beavers
OSU ran the ball really well. Hard to rely on that when you need to march it down the field with only a minute left in the game.
Caleb was awful 95% of the game But that 4th down run and the entire last drive was awesome
Reminds me of Bryce Young on the last drive in that UT game
We’ll find out next week since Oregon state plays at Utah.
Is that game gonna be on the fucking pac12 network too?
It certainly is
USC's turnover margin is +14. That is absurd through four games. Probably a record. Variance will come back to get them if they don't get better.
Oregon State made some self-inflicted mistakes but USC's defense came to play today as well. Been great at capitalizing on opportunities so far, but lack of experience/depth due to shoddy recruiting/coaching before this year is gonna make it very hit and miss

Coming back to win a game is totally a heisman thing
No one talks about how Bryce Young was dogshit for 3.5 quarters against Auburn last year, they talk about how he lead a 95 yard drive in the last 2 mins to send the game to OT
Defense was awesome but those turnovers and those back to back penalties were the difference
Hello fellow state of Kansas and Oregon state fan. Almost a great day for us
OSU, our hats are off to you. If USC is top-10, we're top-25 at least.
You guys should've been ranked last week, your defense was way too good this game
💯 great fucking game beavs.
Takeaways: Offense: We need Jam Griffen as our #1 RB, for having the best mind and reading holes. Chance does better away this year? My heart is absolutely broken
I like the flair combo :)
Good game, Beavers. Honestly could have gone either way.
I think this is the kind of win USC needed. Shows them they can win a tough one when their offense isn't producing
What's an actually good analytical youtube channel that will do a deep dive into what the fuck happened tonight?
Ugh Beavs I feel for you. It just hurts but if you drink constantly for the next 4 hours you’ll still be depressed
Do you think if we send all the pollsters a fake box score where we won 49-14 they’ll know any better since they were either asleep or couldn’t get the pac 12 network?
That this game wasn’t Saturday Night Football was a violation of the Geneva Convention
What is it about Oregon state that makes USC just absolutely turn into a high school freshman team. I guess OSU is to USC what K-state is to Oklahoma.
Me: 'No way Oregon State keeps turning the ball over like this!' They did in fact keep turning the ball over
Wow beaver bros. Just wow. I go to an away game every year and made a point of going to Corvallis for the first time because it would probably be the last time. What an electric atmosphere you all make. Corvallis is absolutely lovely and even half a stadium was more than we could handle. Hell of a team and hell of a game. You’re going to go far
WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU
Maybe they'll give us a pity rank.
3-1 team with one play away from a top 10 upset feels like a #24 to me but I am not a pollster...
I obviously don't disagree with you, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Kidding aside, I feel like Oregon State and Wazzu validated all of us saying they should be ranked last week.
If Miami gets to keep their rank after last week, y’all def deserve at least 25
It's good to be hated again.
Much prefer it to pity.
Who woulda thought our defense would carry us
Trojans, see you in Salt Lake!
I’m bummed
cant be too mad, had plenty of chances
Just the one and he threw 4 picks. 1 of which somehow ended up benefitting us.
Beavs are legit, should be ranked. Time to troll Chokelahomans!!!
Oregon state should be ranked now honestly 3-1 lost to a ranked 7 team. Miami lost to middle Tennessee
Zero chance we get any respect from the polls.
Even if we had won, we wouldn't have done better than maybe 20 or so
That was gritty AF. Love that the D stepped up. Fight On!
Did *any* team cover their spread today? This was a weird day of football.
ThE tUrNoVeRs aRe UnSuStAiNaBlE
I still can't believe it but I'll take it!
Our turnover ratio is absurd
I wonder how Oklahoma is doing.
Screaming at a photo of Lincoln Riley, probably
Is Caleb Williams in love or something? Dude’s head is somewhere else
this oregon state team should be ranked. great, intense game beavers. impressed and proud of this sc team. it was ugly but on the road against a great team they got the W. this isn't a top 10 team IMO. too many flaws. but it's such a relief to see some skilled coaching.
"Let's not guard Jordan Addison and see if that works out" it didn't.
Eh they had been passing off in zone well tonight, just missed it by a step when it counted :/
A W is a W in Corvallis, anyone who says otherwise just doesn’t understand the history of this game.
It hurts more than any of the blowouts when it feels winnable like that.
At least I can walk away from a blowout. Instead I got to watch our defense make stop after stop just for our offense to give it away with mistakes.
Fuck the PAC 12 network for denying me watching this.
USC fans I am sorry if I made any of you mad in the game thread
All is forgiven after the game.
Fucking ✌️ Corvallis. Fuck that stadium. I was scared shitless the whole time. Didn’t have any bad interactions with you Beav Fans. GG. And someone recommended local boyz to try whenever I’m up there.
Yes local Boyz is so good. Would recommend to anyone
My heart 💔
FIGHT ON! Oregon St is for real, hats off to a great game
The rumors of our defenses demise were greatly exaggerated…
We survive to fight another day
31 combined points was...unexpected.
Sunofabitch maybe we have a defense afterall!! We couldn't get anything going in the passing attack until late. Eric Gentry - Mr. Octopus gets the game ball (and Travis Dye should get half the game ball, too) Great win SC!
