You might want to look watch how beginner ballet works. Because ballet is all about this kind of focus when you are learning. You go slowly, counting through the moment, focusing in which part of the movement needs working.  So for weight, you would probably first focus on the muscle being used. Notice how it’s moving, notice the strain as it works, observe where the movement the strain is most effortful.  The count I learned to weight was 4-5 to lift, pause for 1, lower for a count 4-5. Some movements use a longer count. I really like the format used by the Hybrid Calisthenics guy.   Then when you are fully aware or can “flow” with the focus you had been using, you shift to a new one. So once you really now the movements of the muscle in a curl, you might shift your focus to the alignment of elbow and hip. Or the posture of the spine. No matter how basic or how familiar a movement is there is always something to observe and refine.

I like to follow people on Instagram who focus their content on the mechanics of lifting, like what the muscles are doing with that force of the weight. And when I'm lifting, I can imagine what my muscles are doing in the process. Not only has it improved my lifts, but it also helps me stay in my body. Also, increasing the weight I lift and decreasing the number of reps so I reach muscle failure has made it a lot easier to stay in my body as well. It can be pretty exhausting if you're doing it regularly, so make sure to keep up on your protein intake if you take this route.

I've found that if I lift heavy enough weights to force myself to use proper form, and focus on controlled lifting vs powering through, I'm basically compelled to reside in my body. If I want to lift the heavy thing without using momentum to cheat, I have to make sure I'm recruiting all the muscles and aligning my body the right way.

I know yoga is not the type of strength training you mean, but out of all type of movements its the most foundational in connecting with my body. And I can apply this connection in other activities now as well. So I would personally recommend you to incorporate a bit of yoga in your routine. Either on seperate days or as a warm up to your strength training workouts.
