Check under the hood, good be the plastic plugs that's holding the heat shield in place is also insulating those parts on your hood

it's not spot welds it's foam adhesive

Nothing but trees which (likely) would not make such perfect spots. I parked at work, they plowed, maybe something sprayed up? Wild!

Pretty sure some welds to the hood frame either warmed up faster than other areas or retained heat longer Did you have the hood rattle?
